14 Thoughts to “Two Men, a Broken Boat and the Occoquan River Dam”

  1. Moon-howler

Dumbest question in the world: Was this at the dam at the town of Occaquan or was it down at Lake Jackson?

  2. Second-Alamo

What kind of a Dam question is that MH? ; )

  3. Moon-howler

I just want to know where the damn thing is, SA. 😉

  4. Emma

Fairfax County. So it must be Occoquan.

  5. Moon-howler

That is what I surmised after watching twice. It sure looks like Lake Jackson, though. Wasn’t the dam in Occaquan seriously damaged in Agnes? The location was confusing.

  6. Witness Too

    Good one Alamo!

  7. Moon-howler

    yes it was Alamo.

  8. Alanna

I laughed too, which is very unusual for a SA comment.

  9. JoshB

Yes it is the dam on the Occoquan River, just above the city of Occoquan. The iReporter is my father and I grew up there. We can hear the dam when water is spilling over and can see it in the winter from our backyard.

  10. Moon-howler

Has anyone seen the names of the 2 men who were rescued?

  11. Alanna

Welcome JoshB! It’s amazing that your father was able to capture this.

No, I haven’t heard their names. I’m guessing the guy who was straddling the pole is miserable today.

  12. Witness Too

Hi Josh, thanks for filling us in. I always wondered how iReport works. Did your father upload the video to the internet? Do you know how long the two men were waiting before the helicopter arrived?

  13. Moon-howler

    No names are know yet?

Perhaps the victims are too embarrassed and are trying to keep their names out of the press! If it were me – I’d be doing the same thing… Although one would think the rescue folks must have obtained their names. I was also curious about how that “iReporter” stuff works on CNN as see it all the time on their website. Great video anyway, but I bet those two are doing everything they can to try and remain anonymous!
