7 Thoughts to “Democratic Primary Tuesday, June 9”

  1. Moon-howler

Is any one else getting driven crazy by constant phone calls? I have heard nothing from the Deeds campaign but if one more McAuliffe phone call comes in I am going to rip out the phone.

I will hand it to Terry, he goes after what he wants. He does not back off.

After all this, I have no clue which one I will vote for. I also found out yesterday someone else was running for Lt. Gov. So much for being ill-informed.

  2. Emma

I will be casting my vote first thing tomorrow for the Democrat that I feel is most likely to be defeated in November. I love that Virginia allows me to do that.

  3. Moon-howler

And that works both ways. 2 can play that game. I also think you all might be wrong about McAuliffe. That could backfire.

I find it interesting that you don’t have enough faith in the strength of McDonnell to win against any Democrat.

  4. Emma

I would have more faith if the playing field were even slightly level. But labor unions have poured massive amounts of cash into this campaign and will cotninue to do so until November. So much for letting Virginia VOTERS decide on Virginia elections. So I do what I can to chip away at the nationwide Democratic stronghold.

  5. Moon-howler

Emma, I just got to thinking more about what you said. Aren’t you concerned that you might get stuck with the worst candidate?

The last time I voted, that I remember, in a Republican primary was when some upstart named Chapman challenged Delegate Harry Parrish. He came in with his followers and told some fairly bold lies about Delegate Parrish. Even though I was at political odds with Delegate Parrish on several issues, I felt he had served the community well. At the very least, the man did not deserve to be lied about.

The long and short of it was: I voted for the best man. I can’t even remember if a Democrat ran against Harry Parrish in that election. It doesn’t matter. I am not a Democrat although I tend to vote that way most of the time. I voted for the best man. I think that is how it should be. To do otherwise is just…I don’t know…cruddy.

  6. Emma

It’s strategy that may very well backfire, you’re right. But I don’t know any other way to use my vote to prevent a Democratic governor. I find the supermajority concept truly frightening.

  7. Moon-howler

I like a little mix myself. How about the house of delegates Republican majority? Isn’t that enough for now? There were some years of Republican supermajority both nationally and state-wide.
