HAA! is an acronym for Healthy Americans Act, introduced first in January, 2007 and resubmitted it again last February when the health care debate cranked up. HAA! is a middle ground proposal, given to me tonight by Slowpoke, with whom I gently spar daily. It is worth reading and considering. If you are like me, the Obama Health Care Plan is a great mystery. I haven’t hear through the din yet. Check this out.
Comments are appreciated.
It’s strange to me that we don’t hear about these things from the mainstream media. I just wonder how often good bipartisan ideas get trashed by both sides hell-bent on having their own way. I thought it was interesting to see how this proposal carves a middle path and particularly interesting is who doesn’t like the proposal and why!
I am intrigued. I definately think that if both sides hate it, there might be middle ground! I would love to see a debate on it, by people who understand the ins and outs of reform.
The only question that stands out, given my limited knowledge of health care reform, is what happens to people who have chronic illness/pre-existing conditions. It isn’t that people can’t GET insurance it is simply cost prohibitive if your emplpoyer doesn’t offer it or you are unemployed.
Way off topic, but I’ve been following this since last Thursday since:
http://www2.insidenova.com/isn/news/local/article/1984_beating_video_hits_internet/41980/
it has exploded on the ‘net. And some diligent guys here:
http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=88535
have been at the forefront of finding answers to what happened and determining those involved. Just curious if any long-time residents on this sight may have any knowledge of it. Right now the bullshido guys are trying hard to ID the victim.
Probably deserves it’s own topic.
That is extremely nasty, Mando. Is that martial arts school still in existence? I am not really sure what was going on in the video other than someone was half killing someone else in the name of religion? Shudder.
There’s another video that shows an additional 30 seconds or so when the sensei (determined to be Bobby Joe Blythe) instructs those present to drag the guy out and throw him in a dumpster. The following day, he videos the trail of blood leading out the back and a spot on a door.
This all came to be after this same Bobby Joe Blythe posted this video on Youtube earlier this year apparently for bragging rights and took it down shortly after because of the firestorm that started.
This was he description with the video:
“This dummy was in my shopping center while I was on a Bodyguard Job in Washington, DC. This guy was in the Pizza Hut eating pizza off the plates of others and the Pizza Hut Manager ran him out with a pistol. Later the very same day, police officers were called to remove him from a nearby pharmacy after having been caught reaching into customer’s purses. A short time after that, he visited a Napa Auto Parts store next to my Karate Dojo and told the management he planned on teaching in that Dojo and that Jesus taught him. The Napa guys told him he was confused (their polite way of warning the man against such action), but not wanting to miss a show, they told the man they would close early just to watch and that he must not know the owner, which is nobody to play with.. Needless to say, the police pulled him out of the dumpster behind my Karate Dojo where he was neatly placed. Semper Fi to all my Marine brothers. The karate student in the white is also a Marine Sgt. and a brand new Black Belt. Never get stupid with a Marine, you could get jacked up and have your clock stopped.”
And is the guy doing the bragging rights in jail yet?
“And is the guy doing the bragging rights in jail yet?”
No. If you have time to kill, read or skim the thread I linked. It’s HUGE, but most of the answers are there.
You are quite right that there is no mention of pre-existing conditions in here. In fact, it’s a little sparse on details, but I figure one could find them if so inclined. I was intrigued by the fact that so many special interests hate it. To me, that means somebody is really onto something!
Slow,
I have shared this story before, on some other thread, way long ago. About 13 years ago I looked into getting private health insurance. I have a chronic health issue (no, being a bleeding heart is not considered a health issue!), anyway, when I stared looking into premiums, they least expensive was 500 dollars a month! The insurance agent actually had the nerve to suggest that I save my money and so that if I needed treatment, I could just use out of pocket savings! Can you believe that, and insurance agent suggesting I NOT be covered. I could get insurance, but it was clearly cost prohibitive.
Mando,
So basically, it sounds like this guy beat up a mentally ill man.
Mando,
That was so disturbing to watch, really awful. I wish I had not watched it now.
Mando,
I watched that last night! I had no idea that was local. They were sort of using this dude as practice, huh?
And it appears that justice was never served and is questionable whether or not the victim survived.
“I watched that last night! I had no idea that was local. They were sort of using this dude as practice, huh?”
Not practice as much as “teaching him a lesson” so to speak. Apparently this Billy Joe Blythe character had a reputation for things like this.
He was well know in Woodbridge/Dumfries during the 80’s. Anyone here recall him? The big question is who the victim was and whether or not he survived the assault.
