James O’Keefe is quite the hypocrite. He apparently receives honorarium for speaking to groups now. He spoke before a Tea Party group recently in New Jersey. Asbury Park Press was barred from videotaping conservative activist James O’Keefe at a Tea Party Group meeting.
According to the Asbury Park Press:
KEYPORT— James O’Keefe, the conservative activist known for his hidden-camera videos that
have made headlines, apparently was not thrilled about the idea of being videotaped himself during a speech he gave Thursday evening.O’Keefe, who spoke to about 100 members of the Bayshore Tea Party and their supporters at Ye Cottage Inn, declined to be videotaped by an Asbury Park Press photographer who was there to cover the event.
His wishes were communicated by Tea Party members at the event, who asked the photographer to leave.
During his speech, O’Keefe, 26, told the audience: “What I do is expose things for what they are. I show that a triangle has three sides. And I do it on a video camera.”
According to O’Keefe, moral indignation is the strongest force in politics. He contends that is the reason why what he does is so effective.
“What we do is we is we outrage people by what we show them to be true, and that is more powerful than any type of spin,” he said.
Apparently Jimmy O’Keefe doesn’t believe in the old adage, ‘he who lives by the sword, dies by the sword.’ His ego will land him in serious trouble sooner or later. Meanwhile, before we all get the last laugh, we can at least enjoy his hypocrisy. O’Keefe’s employs very questionable tactics that don’t always abide by the law. His most egregious act has been his attempt to lure CNN Investigative Correspondent Abbie Boudreau onto some boat to put her in a compromising sexual position. One of his female colleagues was so disgusted she alerted Boudreau to the trick so she could avoid being punked.
Why would tea party members anywhere pay money to see this little egomaniac with very questionable ethics? His behavior towards Ms. Bourdreau is enough for most of us to just turn out backs on him.
That’s not being a hypocrite. That’s being smart.
Now, if he sued because they secretly taped him….that would be hypocrisy.
He just represents all that is unethical to me.
So, do you find 60 Minutes to be unethical? Or any investigative reports with hidden cameras or subterfuge? I’d like to see the networks put out their raw footage of interviews and investigative reporting.
If they set people up and then cut and edit to make the person look bad, yes. If they try to set up sexual liasons to make a person look bad, then yes I do. @Cargo
Set up liasons?
Every media outlet edits to make their target look bad. But only O’keefe has put out the entire raw footage to back his claim.
O’Keefe was very careful to record in states that allowed only one-way consent. He did his homework and worked within the law. Other reporters have done far worse and have overstepped the bounds of privacy to get what they needed. If NPR were innocent, there would not have been a rush to two resignations. I would think they would have stood their ground and fought back with a defamation lawsuit. They knew they had been caught.
Is that why there were charges against O’Keefe with the Acorn business and with Mary Landrieu?
Other reporters probably have done far worse. Does that make it right? The guy with NPR had already resigned but his date was effectively moved up.
That doesn’t explain attempting to lure the CNN reporter onto the pleasure palace boat.
As for editing, he edits for his advantage. Much was found to be incorrect with ACORN video.
I just think he is a scum bag. The CNN situation sealed the deal with me. I don’t support sezual preditors, even to expose progressives.
