The line opened at the mall near sears at 3 pm. By 5 pm people were being turned away because the line would close at 7:30 pm. Right now efforts are being made to get kids vaccinated because they and pregnant women seem to be the most at risk.
Clinics are being held at Manassas Mall and at Hillendale Fire Station Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, from 3-7:30 pm. There is a clinic on Saturday from 12 noon- 4 pm. The Manassas clinic began today. Hillendale begins Wednesday, October 21.
The following are being vaccinated first:
—Pregnant women;
—Those who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age;
—Health care and emergency medical services personnel;
—Children older than 6 months through young adults up to the age of 24;
— Those aged 25 through 64 who are at higher risk for 2009 H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.
The vaccines are free.

Do most people plan on getting the H1N1 vaccination? Do you feel it is safe? What would make someone not get it? Is this all hype? Should kids get to go first? What about the people who have to work in crowds?
I guess I will be the ice breaker here. Hopefully, if enough kids get vaccinated, it will break the cycle of this flu. Kids are the ones who create breeding grounds for these virus, all being packed in schools.
Too bad they can’t just line them up and give them the vaccine at school.
I won’t be geeting one. I’m allergic to egg yolks and have never had any kind of flu.
I haven’t decided yet. I have never had any negative reactions to regular flu shots.
I have never really known anyone allegic to egg yolks? Does that knock a lot of foods out of your diet because of hidden egg yoks in foods?
Not really, my mother told me to beware of vacinations using eggs to culture them in their process. I think I may just be a chicken.
They are giving the students the vaccine in the Manassas City Schools, during the school day next week. The teachers can get one as well which I think is awesome. When flu vaccines are scarce, teachers are usually not at the top of the list to receive a dose. I certainly plan to take advantage and get mine.
Thanks for this information DB. Will the kids be getting injections or the nasal thing?
Who is doing this for City Schools? I think that is awesome!
Teachers should get them with all the coughing and hocking and sneezing they have to be around.
Ivan, was that pun intended? re your being chicken? bok bok.
Needles=chicken.
I hate them but I swear to you, I did not feel the dude give me my flu shot. (regular flu, not swine) I went to the pharmacy at Safeway.
The Prince William Co. Health Dept. is administering the shots. No nasal mist. Parents who wish to have their children vaccinated, sign consent forms that were sent home on Tuesday, and returned them to the school. About half of my students have returned the consent forms so far. I think it’s a great idea. Convenient for the parents for sure, and free.
I’ve been giving regular flu vaccines for the past few weeks. With the parade of people I deal with every day, I definitely plan to get the H1N1 vaccine.
Why waste a perfectly good sick day actually being sick? 😉
I got my regular flu shot at work last week – they give them out free each year to employees – a good benefit.
That really is a good benefit. I had to pay 10 bucks. Insurance picked up the rest.
Emma, do you give a pain free shot?
When can non at risk adults start getting the h1n1 shot?
Absolutely, Moon–I chatter my way through the process–and make it very quick–so people are surprised when it’s over.
Not enough vaccine has been released yet for the general population. The expectation is that that will happen sometime in November.
