Governor Mark Sanford will probably face impeachment hearings for his behavior last spring. The most serious charge will deal with the fact that no one knew where Sanford was for several days, including the Lt. governor of the state.

Republican state Rep. Greg Delleney told CNN his resolution lists three charges against Sanford: dereliction of duty for leaving the state to visit his mistress in Argentina in June; attempting to cover-up the scandal; and bringing “disgrace and shame and ridicule” on the state.

“If that is not serious misconduct in office, I don’t know what is,” Delleney said of Sanford’s actions.

A missing governor is not all that’s happening down south. There is more “disgrace and shame and ridicule” where that came from. A former Republican activist, Rusty DePass, has made some extremely unfortunate remarks about First Lady Michelle Obama while commenting on an escaped gorilla.

South Carolina should change its state nickname from the Palmetto state to the EMBARRASS ME state.

IF HE OFFENDED ANYONE? Wait, why does this statement need a qualifier? Of course he offended people. Why would anyone, even if they lived in a cave, not know that you just don’t say things like this!

The state motto is Dum Spiro Spero (While I breathe, I hope.) Is there a Latin phrase about a state full of political jackasses?

12 Thoughts to “South Carolina: The Gift That Keeps on Giving”

  1. Elena

Just plain stupid, I mean really, how could he NOT know he would offend people.

I guess he figures if figures by alluding to evolution his comment can be “understood” in its context.

First of all, he is either not very bright or believes we are all gullible enough to believe the comment was not racist. Either way, he loses.

  2. –bringing “disgrace and shame and ridicule” on the state.–

I wish we could prosecute certain leaders for this.

  3. Mando

He’s associated with the republican party so he’s obviously a racist and probably supports raping women.

I’m with pinko. We should make stuff like speaking your mind illegal.

  4. Elena

    Mando,
You are especially cranky today. The guy put it out there on facebook. He has a right to his free speech, but then people have a right to comment on it.

  5. Mando :

It already is in certain sectors.

  6. Moon-howler

Jerks come in all flavors, Mando. I am not particularly pleased with Blagojevich or the guy who kept $$$ in the refrigerator or Rangle. When I defended Sanford, many of you all made fun of me for being too compassionate. Is this just the hit of the day at Anti or what?

And if Republicans don’t want to be made fun of, perhaps they shouldn’t wiggle their bulls eyes at everyone.

  7. Slowpoke Rodriguez

I got news for y’all…Obama is the gift that’s gonna keep on giving!!

  8. Moon-howler

Then you should be happy, Slow. Maybe we will just have to send him off to SC. I am sorry I didn’t know that the guy in Elena’s thread was also from SC. They have been having quite a year of it, haven’t they.

What I find so amazing is that these people must not think they are going to get caught. How can Sanford think he can just disappear? I can’t even do that and I am not a governor of a state. How can someone think they can put a remark like DePass made and people not be offended? A first grader knows you don’t say things like that!

It must be the water or something. This is like social skills 101 and I think most politicians in the state will fail the course.

  9. Starryflights

Mark Sanford should be impeached for disgracing himself and the office he is upposed to serve.

Well, if it works for Chuckie Rangel!!

  11. hello

I thought that the gift that keeps on giving was Joe Biden…

  12. Moon-howler

Slow, I wouldn’t be so sure about Rangel being safe. I think after the investigation is finished, the worm might turn. I guess it depends on what is discovered.
