I know some of you are watching.  They can’t even start on time.  Let’s sit back and watch the lies and obfuscation begin.

Here’s looking at you kids!  MoM, didn’t you make a promise to someone?

2:10–at last!

Any bets on the sound system for today.

22 Thoughts to “PWC Supervisors’ Meeting January 10”

  1. 1 person serving on 2 different committees? Is duplication necessary when we have 400,000 residents in PWC?

When will the others be announced?

  2. Lafayette

The delay in game was probably due to the new sound system, since the sound was spot on for once.

Perhaps we’ll hear the intents to appoint this evening. What’s the delay with those announcements? Applications were asked for late November or early December. I guess are Planning Commissioners will have their first meeting a day after being approved. Any bets on who the appointee will be for the illustrious Gainesville District.

Mom…Where are you? We need to hear you predictions on the above. Also, what’s this promise Moon’s “speaks” of?

  3. Lafayette

    I guess *OUR* Planning Commissioners…

  4. MoM must have vacated the building.

They sure whip through these intentions.

Where would one find a list of all the committees?

  5. The Rigsbys, whoever they are, will sure be filling in a lot of spots on committee spots in Gainesville.

  6. WDBG

    MH,

    Try this for the committees

    http://www.pwcgov.org/apps/bcc/

If that doesn’t work go to the county site, then Government, then down to BOCS, when the page loads go to the left and down to BOCS Committee lists and you can run the report several different ways. I pulled the list a week ago and it looked like a lot the names had already come off.

    1. Thanks@ WDBG

I had no idea there were so many!

  7. Ut Oh! Someone got in trouble with Corey. Someone or someones are causing a problem. Go get em, Corey!

  8. Bob

good local politics in action on Channel 23, but Corey is arguing this building will save the PWC economy. I have never seen the BOS go against this many citizens and against the District Supervisor whose district the development is taking place in. Is anyone though shocked that the Developer Supervisors voted for this? Mike May has gone up big time in my book. Maureen went down, her snotty comment there at the end was uncalled for and lowered herself to whoever was gawking at her…sad to see that

  9. Lafayette

Moon, please, call me. I want to hear what Queen Caddigan had to say. Then again, I may not want to hear it. 👿

  10. I can’t remember what she said. I was so sick of it by that time. Bob is basically right. The building was billed as saving the PW economy.

Mike May made a very good plea. Principi, May and Nohe voted for rejection. They were out voted.

Caddigan wanted the developer to promise to do a better job meeting with the town.

May told her that wasn’t really the problem.

She went on about being a resident of Lake Ridge during Agnes and there was a bunch of hum drum from the audience and Maureen said she was gong to stop talking since it was annoying.

Principi was going to make a substitute motionto table briefly and Corey said it was stringing people along. Then he went on to make his speil about saving PW county.

Corey went on to say that the problem was that we only had local jobs for 1/3 of the people and everyone else had to commute. Jobs have replaced immigration. It is official.

  11. Mom

Somebody took offense to her referring to Occoquan as Quantico. On the upside, a snippy Queen of Dumfries didn’t respond “Off with her head”.

Its almost 9:30 am the day after the meeting and I still haven’t found a single contribution to a discussion by Mr. Candland. Must have been too busy finding other slots for the Rigby Family to fill.

Hey, NTK, how did you like that Innovation CPA discussion, I couldn’t have choreographed it any better.

  12. I don’t think I live in the same county Corey does. He talked at the end about how the real problem was traffic needed to be diverted off of Old Bridge and on to the Parkway but that needed to be widened but there wasn’t funding.

I drove the Parkway ever day to the end of the line. It is no where near the area in discussion. What is he talking about? Unless they have put in a new Parksway, it doesn’t even come close to being near Occoquan.

Corey also says we need existing office space already built. Stafford County is beating us out.

There was that entire empty office building over on Grant Ave and all that empty space near Davis Ford Crossing. Is all of that empty or has it been rented? I know it is City and not county but….I think it speaks to the question.

    Stand by…the fight is on.

  13. @Mom

I will go to vpap to see how many more slots need to be found. That will usually give us some indication.

He didn’t even flinch over this one. More traffic on Tanyard Hill would do it for me. That is a perfectly dreadful area over there at rush hour. He voted right in line with his mentors. I wondered at the time if he had ever even been to where they were talking about or knew the area at all.

  14. @MoM

Are you serious? Did she call Occoquan ‘Quantico?’ You couldn’t make out what was being said. I am surprised corey didn’t come roaring up out of his seat to admonish the hecklers!

  15. Need to Know

    @Mom

I didn’t see the entire live broadcast – spent some time with my kids after work yesterday instead of the developer stooges. I will go back and watch the recording, however.

Moon-howler :1 person serving on 2 different committees? Is duplication necessary when we have 400,000 residents in PWC?
When will the others be announced?

Serving on two Committees is nothing new for some of us…I am holding positions in 1 government appointment (used to be two) for the City, and Boards of two nonprofits.

It is never a question of the number of people in an area available…always the question of how many of us are willing to step up and fill positions either as volunteering in government or other entities.

Although I did notice Mr. Jenkins sure does like to have Mrs. Jenkins in a lot of his appointments. She definitely is out there in the community.

  17. She is also his office manager.

Here is my problem with some of these appointments…its one thing to not be able to find people. Its another thing not to be be asked to serve. For instance, Pete Candland is new. His office will inherit an extensive email list from Supervisor Stirrup.

What a nice gesture it would have been to take that email list and send out the list of committees and check to see if anyone out there had a particular interest or desire to serve on a committee. It would have been a gesture of good will also. As it turns out, he tapped his friends, buddies and left the rest of us out in the cold. Predictable.

I don’t particular want to serve on a county committee. I feel I have given my life blood to Prince William County. However, there are people out there who would like to serve and who have special expertise to share. Just dip-sticking would have done a great deal to heal this magisterial district.

Anyone who thinks there aren’t bad feelings left after this past election cycle is crazy. There are very bad feelings and many of them have been exacerbated by his new staff.

    @Moon-howler
moon, You nailed it: “Anyone who thinks there aren’t bad feelings left after this past election cycle is crazy. There are very bad feelings and many of them have been exacerbated by his new staff.” Not only in the Gainesville district but throughout the county. The way Corey forced Oak Hill not only left a bad taste in the mouth of every citizen but has created a really hostile environment on the board. It is going to be a long 4 years.

    1. @NoHype, it was as though no one had bothered to even come out and speak or offer an opinion.

What he said made me sick. I spoke with someone in commercial real estate today and discussed what was said. The individual laughed and laughed AT Corey.
Who does he think he is kidding.

  19. NoHype

    @Moon-howler
I was looking at the names of the folks being appointed and Candland is appointing somebody listed with a Fairfax address. I’m hoping it is just the persons work address and they do in fact reside in the Gainesville District but I’m not betting on it.

    1. @NoHype

Let me know what you find. I wouldn’t bet on it either. Where does one hunt for such information?

Maybe I can go over and get on a City of Manassas committee. Yea, that’s the ticket!
