Those lefties are just SO much more informed then everyone else, even about a-hole recognition!
But mainstream liberals from Franklin Roosevelt to Barack Obama — and the intellectuals and journalists who love them — often assert that they are simply dispassionate slaves to the facts; they are realists, pragmatists, empiricists. Liberals insist that they live right downtown in the “reality-based community,” and if only their Republican opponents weren’t so blinded by ideology and stupidity, then they could work with them. http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/top-five-cliches-liberals-use-to-avoid-real-arguments/2012/04/27/gIQAFR1zlT_story.html
But I guess they would know more about a-holes than the rest of us.
I have a chance to see his stand up routine here in Richmond. The Obama campaign just called our house asking if we intended to show up at his speech on the 19th. We said yes…so, whether we show up or not, we’ll probably be counted.
Of course. I want him to talk. There won’t be any questions. But, if I go AND make it in…first come/first serve on tickets, I plan to record him.
Now, if he wants questions….I’ll be happy to ask him some questions, politely, of course.
Like….when is he going to set verification on credit card donors, like every other politician, so that foreigners can’t illegally donate to his campaign?
Or… when is he going to lift the drilling moratorium in the Gulf that a judge has ruled to be illegal?
Or…. when is he going to live up to his campaign promise to cut spending?
The GOP has become an insurgent outlier in American politics. It is ideologically extreme; scornful of compromise; unmoved by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition.
When one party moves this far from the mainstream, it makes it nearly impossible for the political system to deal constructively with the country’s challenges.
@Elena
Except, of course, that the majority of Americans seems to have voted for them in the last election…so WHICH party is out of the mainstream?
It is only ideologically extreme to leftists, scornful of “compromise” that does not actually compromise but means “do it the Democrat way”, please give examples of this “unmoved by conventional understanding of facts, etc
The article is obviously slanted. The writer’s “center” is ALREADY left, so any moves to the right will seem extreme. I could write the identical article, with examples, about the left.
I truly hope you aren’t taking that as a mandate. Historically, the opposition party always comes roaring back at midterm elections. I would say that the extreme end of the Republican party is the outlier and if the GOP is going to be significant, they will reel in the exrtremists.
Real Republicans will stop running scared and will retake their own party. It was an opinion piece, btw. You might write the same piece about the left but you would be a little skewed. The left hasnt moved THAT far right.
Some of the R’s are hanging off the cliff. Start waving good bye.
Please define “real” Republican. I believe that your definition might be different from mine, as would my definition of “real” Democrat.
“You might write the same piece about the left but you would be a little skewed. The left hasnt moved THAT far right.”
I assume that you mean “THAT far left.” Actually, to my eyes…they have moved VERY far to the left. But, again…. MY viewpoint is to the right of yours. So, they will have moved farther to the left and seem extremely far left. And I also believe that the current crop of Democrats believes more in the motto: “The ends justifies the means.” They seem to lie more, or, at least get caught more. Pelosi is horrible. Bring back ol’ Tip. And Reid refuses to do his job.
Republicans that consider the status quo, tht consider further growth of government and infringement on rights SHOULD be running scared. The GOP is the main target of the Tea Party. Either the GOP candidates should live up to their OWN platforms and statements or they should be replaced. Which they will be.
Conservatives have demonstrated that they will stay home and not vote for lying GOP candidates. So, said candidates will be replaced by a primary opponent or by a Democrat. If we’re going to have statists in office, ruining the economy, increasing taxes and regulations, and further abridging rights, then lets have the Democrats take the blame.

As is almost ALWAYS the case, the left accuses of the exact thing they are guilty of. I’ve never seen anything so regular and predictable in my life. The Democratic Party has become a complete slave its far-left socialist looney wing, and the first thing they do is point at the Republican party and accuse them of the exact same thing. If memory serves, it’s called transference, and the left is absolute masters of that particular psychological abnormality.
And actually, anyone who needs proof that that the Tea Party is over, look no further than the number of tea party caucus that voted for the CISPA bill. That game is definitely over. Also, many of the House freshmen are begging for earmarks.
Best one liner on the part of Kimmel:
Unlike Rush Limbaugh, the people who watch Bill Maher KNOW that he is an A-hole.
Those lefties are just SO much more informed then everyone else, even about a-hole recognition!
But I guess they would know more about a-holes than the rest of us.
That’s just not true. I like to listen to Rush, and I’ve always known he’s an a$$hole.
@Emma
Technically speaking of course, they shouldn’t.
20,000 out of work comedians under his economy and he’s trying to be funny….
Best POTUS ever!!
Actually, I like to see him cavorting with the 1 percenters…
Emma — I think you are selling your expertise short.
Wait. The Emmys, the Oscars, the Globes or the Grammys? Love seeing those 1%rs giving back…
@marinm Aren’t we supposed to be hating them and trying to take some of their money? It’s all so CONFUSING.
I would like to pay taxes at a lesser rate than they do is about all.
@Morris Davis Well, there was the time I shook hands with one at Mama Mia sometime last year.

only people consumed with hate would not be able to watch this dinner and come away smiling.
great op-ed here

BTW, Cargo, if you have read our plays….just where does it look like our flag is planted at the moment?
I am sick of extremists trying to take over everything so….
