18 Thoughts to “Sean Hannity….Fox News…..caught in a lie?”

Elena and John Stewart think they’re really onto something big here. OK, the “300” thing was funny. I’ve got a much better use of the “300” clip here in a minute. I’ve heard Hannity say lots of things that are not true. I think he gets mixed up sometimes, and he certainly hammers the same points again and again, which can be a bit tiring. For Hannity to by lying here, you need to show that he personally demanded that the footage be mixed together. The number? 20,000 vs. 10,000? You want someone to believe the Washington Post, best known for pimping out time with politicians and slavishly pandering to the left? Sure. Say, isn’t it about time for the WashPo to endorse Deeds again? One more time ought to do the trick! I doubt anyone really knows how many people showed up for either protest event. Funny how John Stewart doesn’t turn his keen eye toward leftie protests! Anyway, this is nothing….sorry.

Here’s your much better use of the “300” clip:

I’ve never understood the importance of number of participants. Either there’s a big or a small crowd, noisy or orderly. What difference does the number make?

The thing with the Michelle Bachmann crowd was the incredibly crude signs displayed and the incredibly inane screaming from guys like Boehner and his cohorts. Embarassing to the max! Who cares about the numbers?

  3. Poor Richard

Just saw on NYT website that Hannity has promised to “explain the error” on his
show tonight. He will explain, we can decide.

  4. Wasn’t there some Beck incident that showed old footage and it was proven because the new Native American Museum was not in one of the pictures?

I think they are trying to convince us that size counts. That is a long standing competition for DC marches…my crowd is bigger than your crowd mentality.

Sean Hannity is often full of crap. Michelle Bachmann is just shrill, strident and creepy in my opinion. She is one who inspires me to change the channel just so I don’t have to hear her voice.

  5. Slow, I can’t think of any leftie protests lately. I am sure there were some anti war ones from the Bush days. I am not sure what Jon Stewart did with those. I am sure there was some comedy there also.

  6. Poor Richard

New on FoxNews website – “Alleged Fort Hood Shooter Frequented Local
Strip Club” – visits apparently included the purchase of lap dances and
    drinking of beer.

Had told relatives he was looking for a modest religious woman who
would cover her head and pray five times each day.

Didn’t some of the 9/11 hijackers also go to strip joints?

    Srange.

Punchak, Fox “No-Longer-Pretending-To-Be” News plays tricks like this because they are trying to undermine the basic idea of democracy. Whereas there is not a majority or even near majority for their fact-free extremist views, they can always create the appearance of one.

I don’t know why it fools our lawmakers, but it does seem to work at times.

  8. I guess the great satan made him to it, Poor Richard. Seems very hypocritical to me.

Like you’ve never seen a picture of or heard Nancy Pelosi talk. Talk about shrill and creepy!

Ahhh! We haven’t heard from St. Elizabeth’s in a while! Say “hi” to ShellyB next time you bump into her in the halls.

  11. Slowpoke, she is not one of my favorite people either. However, compared to Bachmann, I find her a little less offensive. Bachmann makes me sick to my stomach. Pelosi just makes me curl a nostril.

Degrees, Mon, degrees. (best Scots accent)

  12. We weren’t liberal enough for Shellyb, Slowpoke. She felt alone out there except for a few people here. There are lots of Shelly B’s out there. I sort of miss her. If we only hear those who think like us, we don’t grow.

    @Moon-howler

The revoked her Internet privileges at the nuthatch. [I’m cracking myself up!!]

  14. What did Hannity have to say about getting called out over using inaccurate film footage? I am sure that mean little snake didn’t let this go without a response.

  15. Poor Richard

“Hannity acknowledged an ‘inadvertent mistake’ in the last 10 seconds of his
show Wednesday … all we got was a sort of amused lift of an eyebrow.”

    Gail Collins
    (NYT op/ed 11-12-2009)

  16. hahahah and does this surprise us? Hannity is perfect. Just ask him.

Good for Jon Stewart for calling him out on it.

Who remembers who got caught using bad footage over the tea parties? One of the crowd shots didn’t have the new Native American Museum in it. Caught Caught Caught.

  17. From Huffington Post:

Fox News’ Sean Hannity responded to Jon Stewart Wednesday evening after the Daily Show host called out the network for using old footage from a larger September 12, 2009 “Tea Party’ protest to illustrate a much smaller health care rally on Capitol Hill last week.

Speaking directly to the camera, Hannity said that it pained him to admit it, but Stewart was correct.

“And although it pains me to say this, Jon Stewart, Comedy Central, he was right. Now on his program last night, he mentioned that we had played some inccorect video on this program last week while talking about the Republican health care rally on Capitol Hill. He was correct, we screwed up. we aired some video of a rally in september along with a video from the actual event. It was an inadverdent mistake, but a mistake none the less. So, Mr. Stewart, you were right. We apologize. But by the way, we wanna thank you and all your writers for watching.”

Like any “captain”, Hannity took responsibility by using the word “we” in his admission. He does three hours of radio a day plus a TV show every night. That is a busy work day. One has to doubt that he himself was responsible for this gaffe. It is much more likely that a call went from him to production assistants for video footage and then down the line to the techs working on the show. This footage was pretty standard stuff on the grand scale of things and not exactly earth shaking, and I would guess Hannity didn’t even bother to review it himself before it aired. If you trust your staff, you trust your staff. Looks to me like he got tripped up unexpectedly by some shoddy work somewhere down in the ranks.

Something similar happed to President Obama when he gifted a set of DVD’s to Prime Minster Brown of the UK. He had to assume that his staff knew what they were doing. Why would he even have to think about the possibility that the DVD’s wouldn’t work on European equipment? Do you jump all over the Prez for not catching this? Hell, no, except to suggest that he might want to have Rahm Emmanuel take another look at the quality of performance of certain staff members and make sure that such gaffes do not become a habit.
