This will be Mitt’s night.  The night starts off with his youngest son addressing the convention in Spanish.  I expect that will piss off much of the faithful.

  3. @Moon-howler
S If you would prefer me to ignore you rather than engage you in conversation, that is an easy fix. I feel you were rude to me.”

What? I wasn’t rude to you. I answered your question AND I put out a version of my ideas, again. And I STILL didn’t mention the word entitlements. Here’s my quotes.

    “A-FRICKIN-MEN!

So, first we need courageous people in office that actually WANT to reduce the spending. Second, we need people in office that will prioritize and work out a plan. Third, we need the citizenry to realize that there’s no such thing as a free lunch and let these people work.

That means that we have to get rid of ….probably…..85-90% of Congress….. no biggie.”

HERE’S PAT.HERVE’S QUOTES: (I’ll cut out all but the important part.)

” If the R’s and the D’s could get on a plan to reduce spending, fix taxes, fix entitlements ”

I was copying and responding to HIS words. So, instead of kneejerk asking ME what I meant…why don’t you ask HIM?

I’m perfectly willing to discuss things. But maybe when I say that I didn’t say something, perhaps you need to go back and look for the original statements instead of claiming that I was rude to you.

Oh…and I don’t have a problem with your ideas about reforming Medicare/medicaid, etc.

    1. Cargo, I thought you had said it. I can’t go through and read an entire blog. It looked like you had said it.

Sorry. I also wasnt asking for a diatribe, just solutions to a problem.

I get squirrely when I hear entitlements and I go wild when I hear medicaid lumped in with medicare and social security…mainly because of who pays.

    2. Does it really matter who said it? You seemed to agree with the statement, regardless of who said it.

Obviously something is going to have to be tweaked somewhere along the time.

  4. Starryflights

One thing I did like in Eastwood’s speech was when he criticized the president for not bringing our troops home from Afghanistan immediately. The crowd went wild when he said that. That was cool.

  5. SlowpokeRodriguez

I’ve said this before….if Obama really wanted to screw the Republicans, he’d get us out of Afghanistan immediately. Not only would it appeal to his base, but the Republicans would lose the Ron Paul supporters for sure. I know full well that Romney PROBABLY means war, war, war.

  6. kelly_3406

    @Starryflights

Thanks for pointing this out. Since the media has identified all these falsehoods from Paul Ryan, but none for Obama and Biden, I see that the only true, righteous path is liberalism and Obama. Or perhaps the media got its talking points from the DNC? I think these nearly identical points are more of an indictment of the media than of Paul Ryan.

re his son addressing the convention in Spanish: Mitt must have a pretty good command of French. One doesn’t hear about that very much. I bet he speaks French at least as well as John Kerry. Mormon missionaries get excellent language training before they go on their missions and their responsibilities require them to have a lot of inter-action with the natives. My guess is that Mitt’s French, although a bit rusty from lack of recent use, is quite serviceable. I learned French at about the same time and, although I occasionally get stuck on a word that I’m sure I used to know (yesterday it was, of all things, the word for “thumb”), it works pretty well.

A convention speech in French from the nominee would certainly have provided some variety.

    1. 9 years ago it would have been the political kiss of death.
