They still haven’ty learned. What is it going to take? Zero women serving on 2 committees. That’s ok. Boehner will just make them chair women on committees they aren’t even on. The House Administration Committee sounds like housekeeping. Ooops I was close. It oversees the house cafeteria services. Rep. Candace Miller should be able to fill that bill. She’s a lady. The problem is, she isn’t on that committee. That didn’t stop the speaker. He appointed her anyway.
The House Republicans just don’t get it. They don’t get that all male leadership rolls don’t belong in this century and that women are simply not going to accept their bullsnort.
None of the key committees in the House or the Democrat-controlled Senate are chaired by women, I believe.
The Senate has 4 regular senate committees chaired by women. There are also ranking members who are women.
Agriculture(Stabenow), Environment and Public Works (Boxer), Small Business(Landrieu) and Veterans Affairs (Murray) are all chaired by women.
Special committees: ethics (Boxer), Intelligence (Finestein)
They could do better of course, but I am not complaining. 4 out of 19 isn’t bad. It seems proportional at least. The women actually now have their own bathroom on the same floor now also. Woooo Wooooo!!!!
Both the House and Senate could do better, but the Senate has chairwomen.

Our own well-appreciated NOVEC could do better as well.
Thanks for finding this.
Appoint the most qualified person for the job regardless of race, gender, or religion and you should get the best results. However, fulfilling some diversity requirement over qualification requirements is a sure way to provide less than optimum results. Just like reducing test requirements so that less educated people can obtain degrees of one nature or another ensures less capable professionals. This country used to be focused on results and not those taking the tests, but now we have to ensure all pass otherwise we are discriminating against those who aren’t as capable. Not a great way to ensure success in any endeavor. Hopefully we aren’t proposing that a modern job requirement starts off with a stated need for a certain race, gender, and religion simply because there is a lack of those fitting that description within an organization.

Heh. That’s why I want all incumbents voted out…… Nobody is the “most qualified” and they need to be replaced.
While I agree, we seem to have forgotten that Nancy Pelosi held, and probably will hold again, the strongest seat in the House-Speaker. Interestingly enough, I don’t think she did much to improve the lot of women as chairs. Here is a Congressional Research Service report on women in the Congress:

Some interesting information in here. Of course, it will have to be updated, which I believe it is after every election.
She isn’t one of my favorites, that’s for sure.
Seniority, which is responsible for most of this, is not a pretty anwer either, but its better than discrimination.
Maybe if you are never allowed in the club that takes care of seniority?
Heck, its not just seniority. Conservatives were removed from the committees and freshmen allowed to take their places.
Ah..purges…. what’s next in the downslide of the GOP?
