On another blog, in a time not so long ago, a little supervisor contacted all the dark masters to see what could be done to help him win an election. This time became known as The Dark Ages of Prince William County.
Yes, Corey Stewart, we are talking about YOU. Remember when you jumped on the Rule of Law bandwagon and went after everyone Latino? You didn’t just go after criminal illegal aliens. You went after everybody. You actions tore at the very fabric of our community. You rubber stamped thousands of homes to be built while targetting those who came to our community seeking work in the building industry. You meanwhile lined your war chest with developer money.
You used immigration to your own political gain, inciting a county rather than seeking sensible solutions. You made promises that could not be kept, knowing that what you said could not be implemented. You back-stabbed your colleagues on the Board of Supervisors by giving their emails to local bloggers. You allowed the police chief to be called a traitor by your blogger buddies. His “sin” was meeting with immigrants and Latino community leaders to explain the new changes and to reassure them that they would not be profiled. The BOCS had directed him to do this. Chief Deane deserved better.
Your Rule of Law Resolution that you chest thumped so hard about allowed probable cause to be used to intimidate immigrants. Even though you declared probable cause would change over ‘your dead body,’ it did change and you tried to obfuscate the situation and claim that you supported the new Rule of Law all along. This new rule was ushed in by supervisors who had had time to think about what was being done. In the end, anyone arrested had their status checked, a far cry from random checks that happen when ‘probable cause’ is the law of the land.
Now local Republicans have turned on you. I expect they see you as a candidate who lacks convictions. Your code of ethics seems to stop at anything that isn’t self-serving.
Corey, you divided a county for political gain. It seems now that much of the community has turned on you simply because you have made poor decisions. You pledged to keep part of our county rural, yet the minute you were in office you approved thousands of acres to be exempt from the rural crescent restrictions.
You really have kept your promises to no one. Good luck tomorrow. I doubt if you will get much support from those of us in the ‘hood. I hope you aren’t counting on the Latino vote. The people of Prince William County have long memories. Virginians don’t take to betrayals real well.
hmmmmm….no one is saying P-turkey about the return of the inner sactuary folks.
Corey should be getting his come-uppings right about now.
Is anyone betting he will win?
Sorry employees, I think you are stuck with him.
Unless the Democrats get off their tails, we are going to be stuck with him after 2015 also.
To any newcomers, if you would like a tranlater for the Dark Ages of Prince William County, ask here or flag down one of Corey’s girls. At least one of them particpated in the “War on Illegals.”

We need live updates!
Elena addressed Corey at a BOCS meeting about his policy making and poor decisions. Yes, she called him out. Has he reformed?

Things are heating up at the convention for Corey. Apparently the loose and easy financial trail might be causing some problems for others…BIG problems!

Also, according to Virginia Virtucon, the Stewart campaign is pointing a lot of fingers at various folks for the decline (read crashing and burning) of Corey’s campaign.
Corey, there is an old southern expression –when you wallow with hogs you get mud on you.
If you have explain over and over again what you AREN’T you might have a problem.
MARKUS SCHMIDT AND JIM NOLAN
Richmond Times-Dispatch
12:30 p.m.
The seven candidates for the GOP lieutenant governor nomination are taking turns addressing the delegates at the Richmond Coliseum.
Former Rep. Allan West, R-Florida, introduced Del. L. Scott Lingamfelter, R-Prince William.
West, as a young captain commanding a divisional rocket battery at Fort Riley, Kan., served under Lingamfelter, who was his commanding officer.
Oliver L. North introduced entrepreneur Pete Snyder. North had not set foot in the Coliseum since 1994, when he became the Republican nominee who took on Sen. Charles S. Robb, D-Va.
Corey Stewart, chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, said he’s been labeled “a racist and bigot,” over the county’s tough immigration ordinance, “but I did not back down.”
E.W. Jackson of Chesapeake, a minister and attorney, told the crowd: “I’m no African-American, I’m an American!”
Excellent point made, Lyssa.
I am totally grossed out that Alan West introduced Lingamfelter. Any benign feelings I had for him just vanished upon reading that West introduced him. I think West is just inappropriate in every sense of the word. His treatment of women is scandalous.
BAWAAAA Lyssa! He only backed down from probable cause, what a liar!
In any sane, rational world, one would think introductions from West and North would be negatives. In the RPV context, they are viewed as enhancing a candidate’s chances.
In any event, if we could people of dubious judgment named South and East, we’d at least have the compass boxed.
Oh, sheeez, Ollie North / Fawn Hall, shredding, birthday cakes and bibles to Iran, the Contras, etc. etc.
Alan West / Not as big a hero as some want to make him. Nasty+ ! Wouldn’t want to be connected with him.
“Poor” Corey – he has nothing going for him!
Obenshain, Cuccinelli – so far. Hopefully Stewart will win. This election will be a non event. I guess Stewart doesn’t have to live up to his own standards and step down as BOCS chair?
I gather very few delegates showed up today. Maybe these people don’t represent most Republicans?
@MarkObenshain, who wrote a bill requiring women to report miscarriages to cops #CreepyKen” Also, Susan Stimpson’s campaign tweets, “Good news coming for Team Stimpson at #RPV2013”
Now Moon you know I remain silent on abortion issues……BUT a bill to report miscarriages to cops? It takes my breath away.
Maybe Cuccinelli will push for Stimpson to broaden his appeal with female voters. Stewart may lose because of his gender – what he is – by birth. Not what he does or thinks. Now, THAT would be irony.

Well we’re stuck with him.
He should be self contained. Why unleash him on the state.
According to InsideNOVA on Facebook: Prince William Board of Supervisors chairman Corey Stewart is out as GOP candidate for lieutenant governor. Fourth vote underway at Republican Convention. It’s between EW Jackson of Chesapeake and Pete Snyder of Fairfax.
@Scout
Good one, Scout! You know, I didn’t even catch the directional names because I was so focused on the people WITH those names and how disturbing they are.
You are right…in a sane, rational world.those would not be sought after names. shudder. I was so overcome with revulsion over Allan West that I let Ollie North slide. That speaks volumes.
@Lyssa
It takes my breath away also, Lyssa. That’s the underlying problem with anti-abortion legislation…it isn’t just about abortion. Its about control of women. It often goes so much deeper and is more invasive.
Can you imagine a miscarriage branch of every police department? Holy cow. Would they have female officers for us wimmin folks? How about interpreters for those non- English speaking miscarriers?
“That’s the underlying problem with anti-abortion legislation…it isn’t just about abortion. Its about control of women”
I think that the main root cause, for the poor misguided souls who consider this a valid political issue, is that they are trying to defend their religious belief. It is important to them to believe in a “soul” beyond the human body and human consciousness. If you were to believe in this mythical entity, it makes arguably more sense that it would come into magical being at conception rather than at birth – especially in light of the Bible’s pronouncement that spilling seed on the ground is a sin.
If you don’t believe in a soul, but rather see a human as consisting of body and brain, then abortion in the first trimester is not problematic (as the brain is not and there is no consciousness). Not moreso than birth control (which, by the way, the Bible takes a stand against).
Dominating women and returning them to the days when they would have to be thrown off a horse or fall down a set of stairs so as not to have a baby is just a side effect. The primary motivation is this deep desire to make the rest of us, our whole society, to help these poor misguided souls to keep believing in childish fairy tales. Without a society reinforcing it, it must be difficult to keep believing in silly stories that actually contradict what we all know and believe about the world and the universe (“four corners of the Earth”, no reference to dinosaurs, traced generations of man, etc. etc.).
Some of the movement against gay marriage is this also (not that it’s logical. It’s just a desire to stop change and progress, because they make it harder to maintain an absurd world view). And some is homophobia and even repressed desire (perhaps just desire to experiment sexually).
Not to be argumentative but…..Much of the Judeo-Christian culture involves control of women. There are churches still today that do not allow women in the priesthood. (GASP) There are major religions today that still go with the woman being the weaker vessel mentality.
I attended an all women’s college and graduated into a world that simply didn’t have a professional place for me. I might get married and pregnant and would have to quit and therefore corporate America would have wasted its money training me. Access to contraception for married women had only been codified a year or two in all 50 states. Women were even banned from working in the ABC store.
People may believe what they want to believe as far as religion goes. I have always tried to not make fun of what other folks believe. (as for ensoulment–in early days of the Christian church, ensoulment was different for boy fetuses than for girl fetuses.)
I think it is all about economics in the final analysis. White men are no longer guaranteed a place at the top of the food chain.
To be fair to our Judeo-Christian culture … we’ve been ahead of the curve on progressivity with women. So as much as I like to ridicule the fundmantalist Christian viewpoint, I don’t think their root psychological cause is to dominate women.
