Who is tired of cicadas? I don’t mind them as long as they stay in trees.
Here is another pest–this time a denizen of the deep…or not so deep.
Gorgeous to watch, misery to have a close encounter with–jelly fish have been the plight of any swimmers in salt or brackish water. Rivers in tidewater, bays and sounds are laden with jellyfish and they can sting like fire.
Are they any cures for the stings? I have heard meat tenderizer. Surely not!
I can remember my brother flying up out of the Rappahannock River like he had a man ‘o war wrapping its tentacles around him. That was one stung up kid! I got out and never went back. I don’t need to experience things existentially to know to stay away.
It looks like the dark master has become “Pornographer Greg”. He has some very explicit pictures up on his latest post. He hasn’t grasped the fact that if he copies what someone else does that is “naughty”, then he becomes “naughty.”
Get those lascivious pictures down! It takes one to know one, as my grandpa used to say.
Primary campaigns in Loudoun aren’t always dull.
I hate the viciousness involved.
It sounds like there is a lot of in-fighting going on.
Candidates can’t help who supports them.
I would hope someone running for office wasn’t a vigilante.
I have read the initial report about the Prince William project of $30 million to fix blighted foreclosures. I think maybe it should read Prince William Area because Georgetown South is included in this iniative.
VOICE was a major mover and shaker in this deal. I remember seeing Corey at that meeting over on the other side of the county a few years ago. The meeting was about affordable housing and he went in blathering about ending the ‘scourge of abortion.’ Corey must have forgotten to read the Cliff Notes.

Greg may or may not be in serious need of therapy, but as satire his post is pretty funny.
I met Richard Cabellos, a neighbor in the Weems community, two years ago at the Virginia State Neighborhood Conference in Williamsburg, and he impressed me then. Turns out he’s running for state delegate in November! Great civic engagement coming out of City of Manassas neighborhoods! http://cabellosfordelegate.com/index.html
Is Jackson running on the Republican ticket?
Interesting candidate. I hope to learn more about him.
Yes, here’s the names so far on the Nov. 2013 ballot (for the City of Manassas): https://www.voterinfo.sbe.virginia.gov/PublicSite/Public/FT2/PublicElectionDetails.aspx?Ret=1

The Sheriff needs to get off his knees before he wears them out. His Pete-Pitch is getting to a high frequency frenzy.
Have a little pride, Sheriff.
Not sure about the cicadas, but the stock market bears sure stormed
in this week!
We need bear spray!!! What a horrible stock week.
I always chuckle when I hear an anti-Muslim rant on Fox News knowing the FNC’s “Muslims are evil” shtick drives up ratings which drives up profits which drives up the wealth of the 2nd biggest owner of News Corp stock, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia. Now the Arab magnate is suing GOP stalwart Steve Forbes’ magazine of the same name for underestimating his wealth. The Prince only ranked #26 on the Forbes richest person in the world list and he claims the magazine shorted him $9 billion, which would have placed him higher up in the rankings. Maybe if Fox presses their anti-Muslim rhetoric a little harder they’d earn more viewer and more revenue and help Prince Alwaleed bin Talal climb even higher up the Forbes list.

@Moe Davis
Well, Moe, the Prince can just have his religious purity police beat more women and girls and FOX can report it.
D-Day today. 69 years ago today, the brave American GIs waded ashore on the Normandy beaches.
Did anyone notice?
I wasn’t born then but I put up a post and a video about it.
Maybe the cicadas will DROWN

Are you trying to make a point, Cato? Do you agree or disagree with Bill Maher?
Oh, I completely agree with him. In fact, I agree with him on a whole lot of stuff, not just in this particular instance.
GOP Candidate E.W. Jackson Says Yoga Will Make Satan Possess You
Elspeth Reeve 25,713 Views Jun 5, 2013 E.W. Jackson is the Republican candidate for Virginia lieutenant governor, and he’s a pretty interesting guy with a lot of opinions. Some of these opinions — especially on gays, like that they are “ikky” — have made him more famous than most candidates for lieutenant governor. On Wednesday, we learned that Jackson has some interesting ideas on a new topic: yoga. As The National Review’s Betsy Woodruff reports, Jackson warns that yoga can put you at risk for satanic possession in his 2008 book, Ten Commandments to an Extraordinary Life: Making Your Dreams Come True.
When one hears the word meditation, it conjures an image of Maharishi Yoga talking about finding a mantra and striving for nirvana… The purpose of such meditation is to empty oneself… [Satan] is happy to invade the empty vacuum of your soul and possess it. That is why people serve Satan without ever knowing it or deciding to, but no one can be a child of God without making a decision to surrender to him. Beware of systems of spirituality which tell you to empty yourself. You will end up filled with something you probably do not want.
Behind the ice-cold eyes of Lululemon princesses burn the demonic flames of eternal hell! Having been to a Lululemon store (temple?) recently, I can’t say I disagree.
Jackson is a pastor who has never held elected office. If Virginia Republicans are looking to reach out to moderate suburban voters after their southern state voted for Obama for a second time, Jackson isn’t helping. He has compared Planned Parenthood to the KKK, he’s said gays are “frankly very sick people,” and that homosexuality “poisons culture.” His running mate, state attorney general Ken Cuccinelli, doesn’t want to be associated with Jackson’s comments. “He’s got to defend all his own statements and he’s going to go about doing that, but we run our own race,” Cuccinelli told The Washington Post. But The National Review ticks through a few issues that show Jackson’s surprising moderation: “he wouldn’t support any sort of ban on gay sex,” and “would oppose a constitutional amendment naming Christianity as America’s official religion.”

Cuccinelli’s running mate, EW Jackson, is a nutcase. He said that yoga will cause the devil to possess you. He is far outside the mainstream of most Virginians. If you support normal people, vote for Terry McCauliffe for governor this fall.
Yoga causes Satan to get you? Too funny!!!
Lots of peeps going to the devil it sounds like.
Republicans have a problem with young voters.
Democrats have a problem with young nonvoters.
Any thoughts on Tuesday’s Dem. primary”?
I am supporting Northam and Herring.
There is not one thing wrong with the other 2. I just like Northam and Herring. Those are the only 2 I am following.
