Dallas Maverick owner Mark Cuban has addressed what he terms his own bigotry.  Is he wrong?  Is he really a bigot?

Cuban has since apologized for referencing the hoodie. He apologized to the family of Trevon Martin. That was a nice gesture but I don’t think that Trevon Martin owns the hoodie. Millions of kids of all races where hoodies pulled up over their heads.

I respect Mark Cuban for addressing his own trigger points and for speaking out on what many people simply don’t feel like they can acknowledge.

10 Thoughts to “Is Mark Cuban the latest bigot?”

That ‘s called “risk assessment.” Notice…he mentioned white, bald, tattooed people too.

Even Rev. Jesse Jackson has admitted that he is relieved when the footsteps behind him on a dark street do not belong to a black man. Is that racism?

Rightly or wrongly, the hoodie has become recognized a part of the criminal uniform.

I think that Cuban’s statement was excellent.

  2. So has the ski mask.

My only point is that I don’t think Cuban should be excoriated over using the hoodie reference. It is what it is.

Kids in general, when wearing hoodies, should make sure that theirs doesn’t look like the criminal uniform. (unless of course, that is their intention.)

Cuban said nothing wrong. He didn’t really say much of anything; in this day and age I thought people understood that everyone has some measure of prejudice inside them.

The idea that the word “hoodie” should be off limits is insane.

Anyone who thinks Cuban said anything offensive is so far outside the mainstream of society that they should just shut up. And watch this – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztRSm_SJP58

    1. All sorts of people are simply aflutter over what Cuban said,k especially for mentioning hoodie.

Is it prejudice to cross the street when one sees a gang member approaching – or is it just being observant and forward thinking. I do not think anything he said should have been interpreted as racist, prejudice or bigoted.

    1. I don’t either, Pat. IN fact, I think he said some things that really need to be discussed by americans.

I am prejudice against people who carry handguns. It is risk assessment. I was eating lunch at a Cracker Barrel recently and someone sat down with a gun strapped to his thigh. I quickly exited and told the manager if the neighborhood was that rough and the lunch crowd that seedy that patrons need to have firearms present while eating at that establishment, then I would not return until they fixed the obvious security problems.

    1. I am also uncomfortable when I see that, Ed. Good for you for speaking up.

I am a gun owner. However, when I see a stranger packing heat, I have no idea if that person is a good guy or a bad guy. I won’t stick around to find out either.

The good guys know they are the good guys Unfortunately, I don’t access to such knowledge.

    @ed myers
    Good for you.
One must always follow their own risks assessment.
