Rolling Thunder organized in 1989 to call national attention to still-missing Vietnam Vets who were MIA. From the Rolling Thunder website:
All are united in the cause to bring full accountability for the Prisoners Of War-Missing In Action (POW/MIA) of all wars, reminding the government, the media and the public by our watchwords: “We Will Not Forget.”
I plan to go hear them thunder over Memorial Bridge from the Pentagon into DC once again, until every MIA has been accounted for.
So, let me be the contrarian here.
There are no POWs being held anywhere against their will. Haven’t been for a long time. John McCain among others will tell you that.
Yet still these nimrods come into the area and annoy everyone with their loud penis substitute bikes. I am not in favor of it.
If POWs were being held, they are probably dead by now. However, there have been many first hand witnesses to give validity to the idea that there may have been people who were not released and who didn’t come home. Who knows.
Given the entire Vietnam situation, I enjoy seeing Rolling Thunder and hearing it roar. It was founded by those in my generation, perhaps in part because there really was no welcome home. They pretty much staged their own welcome home party and continue to remember each year.
Go Rolling Thunder.
That makes some sense … thanks for helping to make sense of it.
There is an American POW being held aganst his will right now in Afghanistan.
Probably more than one.
War sucks. That’s just one reason why. There are thousands more.
There is an American POW being held against his will right now in Afghanistan.
Don’t know how that happened in the middle of an edit, but it was worth saying it twice.
Sorry, I misspoke … meant to be saying no POWs from the Vietnam era held anywhere.
Any POW being held is worth saying twice, Wolv.
I am watching the Capital Memorial Day celebration. There are always the seriously wounded vets in the front row. It breaks my heart to see those poor guys. Life-altering injuries. They will never be the same.
