The University of Missouri’s journalism school issued a statement Tuesday commending student journalist Tim Tai for his handling of a confrontation with protesters on campus that was captured on a widely spread video.
The school also distanced itself from the professor, Melissa Click, who was seen in the video calling for “muscle” to remove another journalist from the protest site. It also hinted that her work at the school may be in jeopardy.
“The Missouri School of Journalism is proud of photojournalism senior Tim Tai,” said David Kurpius, dean of the Missouri School of Journalism. “The news media have First Amendment rights to cover public events. Tai handled himself professionally and with poise.”
Click apologized Tuesday afternoon through a statement issued by the school: “I have reviewed and reflected upon the video of me that is circulating, and have written this statement to offer both apology and context of my actions.”
These students and staff have so much to learn. Assault and battery is on-going. Tim Tai is actually a student and has every right to be there. Students really don’t have the right to set up perimeters.
The #ConcernedStudent 1950 group needs to stop with the attention-seeking behaviors, they need to stop displaying their ignorance for all to see, and they need to understand that The reporter they harassed and bullied was one of their own.
Shame on all of those children–both students and staff. Most of them don’t even know what the issues are. They just want to jump on the bandwagon. They need to go study for midterms and get over themselves.
Melissa Click is just an hysterical, ignorant harpy who is only going to enjoy her 5 minutes of fame briefly, until she loses her job. That blonde one with the pearls also needs to get her pink slip.
This demonstration is clearly an example of winning the battle but losing the war. Big time. Very few people I have talked to have an ounce of support for these malcontent miscreants. I have talked to liberals and conservatives and pretty much everyone has come to the same conclusion.
I admire the young man, Tim Tai.
He kept his cool. What an example he set!
He really did set a fine example. I wanted to punch them all in the face on his behalf!!!

Do people really study this kind of crap?
Sexuality and gender in the twilight series? Oh dear God.
or…this one is even more disturbing, especially since it proves I have become my parents. Just take me out and stomp on my head, please.

I believe Click is going to experience something akin to that experienced by the Mizzou President, and will eventually be forced to resign. The only difference is she will have actually done something worthy of the attention she is receiving.
I think that this is awesome. This is a perfect example of liberal progressive chickens coming home to roost. They have created and fostered this ideology in college for years, now the seeds that they have been planting are starting to bud.
I am not really sure what you are talking about. Please expand on your comment. How are chickens and seeds translated into buds?
@Moon-howler
Sorry, doing too many things as once…
American colleges are stacked overwhelmingly with liberal faculty (latest study shows 72%). They have been fostering this ideology/group think for years and now it’s coming back to bite them in the ass which is why I borrowed the metaphor used by Jeremiah Wright… their chickens are coming home to roost.
They planted the seeds in these young minds that everything they hear is a micro-aggression/trigger/dog whistle. Those seeds are now sprouting into what we see today, college campuses with designated ‘safe spaces’, ‘trigger warnings’ for speeches, the complete shut down and protests of conservative guest speakers and so on.
Colleges like Columbia University invite Iranian ‘death to America’ President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as a guest speaker while Rutgers students blocked a speech from Condoleeza Rice.
I don’t have a problem with inviting Ahmadinejad to speak. I do have a problem blocking Condoleeza Rice from speaking. It doesn’t hurt to hear someone you might not agree with. I went to college during a very radical time. We would have been arrested for pulling that crap at my college.
