Get your mind out of the gutter!  Seriously…what do people do who are totally dependent on electricity for all their entertainment if they no longer have electricity?  I live with 2 other people.  I asked the question.  Everyone just sort of dropped in their tracks.  What would we do?

We came up with reading, cards and board games to break the boredom.  Actually I thought about sleeping.   Then I immediately started charging kindles, iPads, tablets, and power chargers.  We dug out an old ups or whatever you call them.

So what do adults do when there are no electronics?  What forms of entertainment are there to do during blizzards?  Your input is needed!

11 Thoughts to “What do you do when the lights go out during the blizzard?”

It’s a perfect time to prepare taxes.

I live in an area where the electrical lines are practically strung from trees. There are slums in the deepest Third World that look like models of modernity compared to this. We lose electricity a virtually any meteorological disturbance, including a stiff breeze. Much to my wonderment, however, I rise this morning to find that we continue to have power (touch wood). Of course, the meteo boffins are saying we’re only a bit more than halfway through this storm.

  3. Mom

Quarters by candlelight until the beer runs out.

I predict a jump in the Metro D.C. population totals in about nine months.

    1. Ha! Well, my household will not be contributing to THAT statistic.

That ship has sailed, since the doxie and I are the only females in the house….

We still have power. I am astonished.

    1. I guess we will never get to test that “what do we do” question. Very few people lost power, according the the all-knowing TV.

I am really glad I didn’t. I was super prepared also. Every device known to man was charged up and ready to rock n roll.

  6. If I were Greg L. I would be ready to firebomb VDOT. His street is horrible, almost impassible.

I have been out for 2 days, thanks to Dog-Breath, our conquering hero. He has slain Snowzilla at the Howler house.

(My apologies to Wolve…he named himself that. I didn’t do it.)

My poor car that got “deemed” the day before the blizzard can be repaired. Meanwhile, I am driving THE BEAST–a giant Chevy Tahoe can can plow through walls. If there was ever a time to get “deemed” and have to have a rental car, this is it. Enterprise treated me like a queen. They were wonderful.

Dog Breath is wonderful also. VDOT has been wonderful on my street. They haven’t even pushed banks of snow up in my driveway. Overall, other than the neighborhoods, I think snow removal has been good. Disclaimer: I live on the main drag.

Final note: we got more snow than Bramar area.

There was so much snow here that Mrs. Wolve had to climb out of a second story window in order to shovel the walks and parking area and clean off the car.

    Just kidding!!!
