Nancy Reagan has died at the age of 94.  Her passing marks the end of an era.

Nancy was a fierce warrior against drugs and against Alzheimers.  She crossed many barriers to move science forward on the issue of Alzheimers, to include stem cell research.

Nancy Reagan was also fiercely protective of her husband, Ronald Reagan.

RIP, Nancy Reagan.  You were a remarkable first lady.

Yes, poignant… I always liked her. She once said that her point of reference for any place in the world was facing the main entrance of Marshall Fields in Chicago.

  2. Jackson Bills

She was a remarkable first lady, great thread Moon.

The image that is seared in my mind, is Nancy Reagan leaning across her husband’s coffin, for that final embrace before internment. That she loved her husband dearly, one should have no doubt.

    1. It’s seared in my mind also.

  4. Starryflights

They both had class and dignity even though I disagreed wth them. They always behaved with dignity and never treated their opponents with disrespect, unlike their political descendants.

    1. Excellent point, Starry.

I did agree with Nancy Reagan about stem cell research. I also give her credit for starting the Just Say No program. It was good for kids. Did it fall short, in the end, yes. But nothing else has worked either so I give her an A for effort.

I also give Tipper Gore an A for effort on trying to label explicit trash in the recording industry. She got a bad rap for that.

A very classy lady….and I mean Lady in the old fashioned sense.

    1. Yes she was. She sent a gift to my step-granddaughter because my stepson named her Reagan after Ron. One of his friends had been a speech writer and was still in touch with Mrs. Reagan. I thought that was nice and above and beyond the call of duty.

  6. Pat.Herve

I only met her once. She had an air of elegance about her – yet still a down to earth person.

    RIP.
