Today is the shopping day known as Cyber Monday. It always falls on the first Monday after Thanksgiving. Unlike Black Friday, is not associated with bricks and mortar stores but instead, with online retail.
Obviously, Cyber Monday hasn’t been around long enough to pass the test of time, but it has been well- entrenched for the past decade. Cyber Monday has evolved into a major marketing event and is highlighted with sales, free shipping and other lucrative enticements.
Let us know here of any special deals you find. Free shipping is always attractive since shipping and handling can add quite a bit to any purchase. Electronics, music, toys and jewelry are big items. Let us know what you find. All good ideas are welcome.
Not so happy. Diving Dow. Down over 600 points. It seems that every time Paulson or Bernake open their mouths when the markets are open, things go south.
I saw nothing too enticing to buy. Tiger direct usually has good buys and it wasn’t even that special today.
Too busy today, just back from a week in Nashville, Tenn. I guess my Cyber Monday will have to be on Tues. or Wed. Hopefully there will be saome deals out there. I dought if everything was scooped up today. First day back and the DOW goes south, oh boy!
Ivan, it was brutal. It was closer to 700 down. Welcome home. I think I will just put the plastic away after today. Geez. I am not sure what did it even.
Paulson and Bernake both spoke this afternoon. Everytime they speak publicly the DOW takes a dive. I guess they just don’t know how to put a positive spin on anything.
As stocks drop, they become much more enticing for the long term investor.
The problem is, no one knows the rules of the game now. Apparently there is no such thing as too big to fail. Knowing where to invest is a bit dicey, since all the rules have changed.
What is it going to take for Paulson and Bernake to learn that when they speak, the stock market dives? Could they just wait until 4 pm to speak?
Ron Paul Warned us all along 🙁
I have been playing all day with the idea of buying another laptop. I have a Mac which has become a paperweight and the kids and I are constantly negotiating the laptop. I can’t decide between a mini or buying a full blown Dell Inspiron 1420.
The sale prices on Dell today are great. I don’t think a mini has much ummmmphhhh.
Go with full blow 15 whatever. I have a 1505 and love it.
Ron Paul is a weirdo and his followers are almost cult like. I guess I would say…what the hell could I do about it anyway.
Now, I’m looking at the desktops. Geez, you can now get 320GB of storage space. It seems we wouldn’t need that much but that’s what I thought when I bought my 80GB about 3 years ago. By the way, our storage is FULL, I haven’t gotten too serious about identifying the culprit but it’s probably either the STUPID iTunes or the pictures.
Hi Alanna. I have a Dell desktop that is four years old and running like a champ. This spring I bought a Dell Inspiron 1525. I loaded it up with memory and some other things but it too runs extremely well. I like Dell products and their customer service.
Their specials (upgrade on monitors, extended warranty etc.) change weekly so keep a check on their website.
By the way, I bought a new laptop for the exact reason you are looking. The photos and the itunes load things up!
I agree with Lucky Duck. I have had 2 Dell laptops and I like both of them a great deal. One got too small. I didn’t realize I would move off a desk top and on to a laptop exclusively. I bought an external hard drive for 100 bucks or so also. That took care of some of the storage problems. I have never had a name brand desktop. I have always just had them built.
I am looking tonight also. The price keeps changing on me so I might just shut down.
I dont see the advantage of the mini computer. Does anyone know? I can get one for 99 bucks on top of the studio.
I just got an HP at Best Buy before Thanksgiving for $650 – HP Pavilion. It’s specifically designed for internet use/iTunes/photos so it has a lot of storage space and plugs.
I had a Dell for nearly 5 years before it died on me – and that was because of some nasty spyware that invaded my hard drive.
That sounds like a good price. Laptops used to be so expensive and now they are almost as inexpensive as a desk top unless you go into a gaming machine.
