I saw that Cindy, I guess we will have to wait for confirmation. So incredibly sad, so sad.

  15. casual observer

It’s Alexis, and Chief Deane says she was most likely murdered. What a sad ending.

  16. TWINAD

This is devastating. MH, I saw your eloquent post at the end of the Corey Mis-information thread. It really is scary because even though there are still some kids in our neighborhood, you hardly ever see elementary age kids…or even middle school kids outside playing anymore. My son loves to play outside and he is always asking me “Mommy, why aren’t any other kids playing outside today?” When we moved here, there were kids in almost every house…twins at 4 houses that I could actually see from our front door. Now there are hardly any kids…young families sold their homes and moved to more affordable areas by selling at the top of the market. And the ones that are here, don’t even play outside, probably because parents are too nervous to let them outside to play. Plus those nefarious video games and boob tube.

And now this. Kind of makes me want to rethink allowing him to ride his bike up to the next court or use his scooter to go to the end of our court. Sigh.

  17. Alanna

It’s positively heartbreaking. I hope the police are able to solve the crime quickly.

  18. Moon-howler

Yes, it is heartbreaking. And it is scary. ***We have a child killer in our community***. Twinad, the other day I was driving about 3 blocks from where you live. It was about 430 and I saw some little girl around 8-10 out riding her bike. No other kids around. I thought to myself, ‘what are you doing out here all by yourself. ‘ I should not have had that thought.

!0 year old children should be able to ride their bicycles outside during daylight hours in the suburbs. Every day the TV talks about childhood obesity. That’s a no brainer. They cannot go outside and be normal kids because of all the creeps, perverts, and sickos who prey on children, so they play video games and watch tv.

We need to increase our number of police and we need to toughen laws on people who commit crimes against other human beings. This is not the time to cut taxes. We will have a self created no-man’s land if we do.

  19. Juturna

Good observation MH, I had not connected obesity with fear.

  20. Juturna

I will go out on a limb and disagree with Cory when I say that I think that most citizens in PWC would be willing to pay $12 buck a month more to get as much police protection as possible as well as assistance for people like this little girl and AFTER care for the elderly woman that was raped. Not to mention decent parks and libraries becuase we are entitled to a little fun! Someone should send him some quality of life studies…… He needs to get some information from constituants other than those who think all our ills are due to a bunch of illegals.

I firmly believe as has been pointed out that we have become the ghetto for Northern VA. Simply by being the cheapest deal around – I can only imagine what is now lurking here or now in our schools because we are cheaper than anywhere else. Thanks BOCS!!! I’m sooooo glad we are the cheapest place to live in Northern VA.

  21. Moon-howler

I spoke to that issue on the Corey thread, Juturna. I think most of us would be willing to pay more for increased safety.

You make us sound like Prince Ghetto County and perhaps with very good reason. Cheaper isn’t better. I think that the local Republican politicians need to get over this no new taxes crappola.

Why can’t the commercial people get some sort of rebate for doing something to help off-set their gouge.

  22. Chris

You get what you pay for. Or vote for. 🙂

Now, is NOT the time to cut police funding in any way. With these tough economic times we will see an increase of crimes. People are desperate they will steal from the local grocery stores more than ever, people will try to rob for money, and look for warm places for shelter, etc. It’s bad enough we have the number of foreclosure properties we have, and we sure don’t need people squatting in them again more law breaking.

    Prince Ghetto County? UFB!!!

  23. Chris

I hope this case is solved quickly. This is so very heartbreaking. I hope there is a
citizen(s) that saw something, anything, and make the call to the Police. The littlest thing someone might remember may be a big piece to solving the case.

  24. TWINAD

I agree…I hope someone saw something…and I do hope it is a citizen that saw it…not an “illegal” in this county. This is exactly the type of case that the police department needs EVERYONE’S assistance on…even people that might have seen something that aren’t here legally. Let’s just suppose that an “illegal” did see an abduction, but won’t report it because they are living in PWC and know the new Rule of Law and don’t trust that they would be protected if they help. This was Chief Deane’s fear/prediction in implementing the policy, wasn’t it?

  25. Chris

    Twin,
Yes, that was Chief Deane’s fear/prediction. However, it’s ALWAYS been made abundantly clear ALL persons reporting a crime would NOT be questioned about their legal status. I believe this to be true. I would hope all persons in the county felt this way.

  26. Rick Bentley

    I’m hoping she wasn’t actually murdered …

  27. Chris

    Rick,
I too am hoping that, but I think we both know the sad reality of it is, she probably was. 🙁

  28. Moon-howler

It really sounds like she was murdered I am sorry to say.

Twinad, you make a good point. I believe Chief Deane said under no uncertain terms would a victim or a witness be questioned about status. However, how widely know is that? It sure would make me think twice before reporting anything suspicious if I were not here legally.
