I have the following communication from Kim Skokan, owner of KK Temptations, regarding Saturday’s protest. She had send me the information about the protest over a week ago. Because of all the other articles, I felt publishing that part was overkill. However, her gracious response should be published. I was remiss in not doing it on Friday:

We are saddened to hear that a protest will occur on what has generally been known to be one of the most successful community events of the year.

Old Town Manassas has many devoted merchants who are struggling in this tough economy; this jubilee could have been a profitable event for them; however this protest will detract from all of their efforts and hard work. For this specific reason we delayed our October 1 Grand Opening. I would urge the groups who are participating in this Peaceful protest to consider rescheduling to another day in order to not hurt the local merchants who count on this revenue for their business. I have to wonder, what the real intention is that they picked this date? If you ask me it doesn’t show their support for the community or its economic growth.

25 Thoughts to “A Day Late….A Message from Ms. Skokan”

    Anyone remember the Brady Bunch and how taboo it was to have a husband and wife share a bed on TV?!?!?! SEX, SEX, SEX…so TABOO….SEX, SEX, SEX…lol 😉

    1. So how did they get the Brady Bunch? parthenogenesis?

      Ozzie and Harriet kept separate beds and so did Lucy and Dezi. They still had kids. June and Ward Cleaver had Wally and Beaver.

  2. How about nine months late? It’s been 34 weeks since the February 2010 snowstorm. Guess where the busiest place in Manassas is going to be? Honey, my water just broke….

  3. Well, I am guessing it isn’t do to parthenogensis….

    How about the December snow storm? That’s about ready to kick in for sure. :mrgreen:

  4. The store opens on Oct. 20th. Everyone have their Christmas shopping list ready?

    Actually, separate beds/separate master suites are becoming popular I hear. Some folks like a little space! Should fix one partner keeping the other up snoring?

    1. Absolutely not! Big difference in it being a choice to maintain one’s own sleeping domain and it being ruled as some TV purity thing.

    Tru dat!

    @Slow

    Yes, you would know first hand about snow storm fun, mister new daddy!

  8. @Moon-howler
    So did my grandparents. My parents told us it was because my grandfather snored.

    @Elena
    We were before all that. We heard the nurses talking about the upcoming “storm baby boom” while we were in the hospital. No, ours was carefully planned out in every little detail. Mrs. Slow is a planning nut, which suits me well, as I’m a “deal with it as it comes” kind of person.

    Now, I once heard that the television production rule in the “old days” was that, in any bedroom scene featuring even “husband” and “wife,” one of the actors had to keep at least one foot on the floor.

    @Moon-howler “So how did they get the Brady Bunch? parthenogenesis?”

    Actually, Mr. and Mrs. Brady had “his” and “hers” children, but no “ours.” So our local religious righteous can assume that there was no need for any sex in that marriage. Plus there’s the fact that Robert Reed was actually gay.

    How about a counter-protest where we all wear **** plugs between noon and 1:00?

  13. George S. Harris

    Protestors keep complaining about the influence on their children. I wonder just how many kids walk by the new store? How many kids play on the streets in Old Town Manassas? Anybody got any guesses?

  14. George S. Harris

    @Wolverine
    Interstingly enough, Fred and Wilma Flintstone shared a bed! And I suspect Barney and Betty Rubble did also. And in later shows they both had kids–hmmm. I wonder what went on in the drawing room?

  15. Rick, that ship has sailed. It was last Sat. Has it been uncomfortable for you? :mrgreen:

  16. Rick Bentley

    Hah, yes Moon-howler.

    It was a personal protest on my part. And if I take it out now, the terrorists win.

  17. @Rick, we absolutely do not want that to happen!

    @ George

    Are we sure Pebbles wasn’t hatched out of a dinosaur egg? I never saw Wilma wearing maternity clothes.

  18. George S. Harris

    @Moon-howler
    Gosh I don’t know where Pebbles came from. Since it was early on in the evolution of man, perhaps it was an egg that Wilma laid and somehow it go hatched. And how about BamBam? But they may have decided that an egg out in the open was a bad idea–critters could come along and chomp down on it for lunch. Shoudl we ask Hanna and Barberra?

  19. Are they even still alive?

  20. Unfortunately, I don’t think that we have heard the last of the protest over KK Temptations. I think probably those who oppose it have other plans to let us know of their dislike of the shop.

    At first I was told it was because it was in Old Town. The next objection I heard was because of certain movie titles.

    I would think if it was simply a movie rental or purchase shop, that might be a motivation to voice concerns. Might. However, do we just the entire shop by a video title, from a website? Do we just Gamestop because of adult video games they might have? Do we judge Prosperos because a title or 2 they sell might offend our sensibillities?

    I am not ready to condemn a place because of a few movie titles that might not even be in the store. I hate hard core porn movies and will not attempt to defend them. However, I am not willing to turn on a store because it might carry said film in the shop, any more than I am going to rip out my cable system because I have access to gross films if I chose to pay for them.

    Wilma was pregnant and she did wear maternity clothes. She was also the FIRST pregnant cartoon. Here’s the episode “The Blessed Event”. Go to 4:39 and you will see a prego Wilma. http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/Q-4NBN5b6fM/

    Bam-Bam was on the Rubble’s door step in a turtle shell. Here’s a clip of Bam-Bam on the doorstep http://www.spike.com/video/flintstones-season/2684085

    I am a Flinstone freak!
