According to Chairman Stewart, he supports more legal immigration both in skilled and unskilled areas. Additionally that Stewart acknowledges that there is a national immigration problem and not solely in the area of enforcement is a step in the right direction. The fact that our immigration policy is reviewed about once a decade indicates there’s a problem. We have fluctuating job markets that need addressing from year to year. Consider, how could a policy implemented during the ‘dot-com’ bubble still be relevant today? That immigration policies aren’t reviewed more frequently is a big part of the problem.

I would however strongly disagree that the undocumented are any more likely to commit crimes than the average citizen. Of course, one inevitably will point to the 20% housed in the local jail as ‘evidence’ that this is the case. However, those statistics were compiled after they have begun detaining ‘illegals’ so using those numbers present an inaccurate picture.

And just to be accurate, Federation for American Immigration Reform(FAIR) has be named a HATE GROUP and the President of Help Save Manassas – Greg Letiecq has been named a NATIVIST.

128 Thoughts to “Stewart Distances Himself from FAIR”

  1. If Stewart Little has recognized here that the problem is an unrealistic immigration system that isn’t in sync with the economy, doesn’t that undermine his whole argument for the resolution to begin with?

If he identifies the immigration system as the root cause, then that means, by extension, that the immigrants have been wronged by said immigration system.

If that’s so, then how can he justify a resolution that persecutes the people who (according to Stewart Little himself!) have already been wronged?

Does this man even have a conscience?

  2. admin

    Well said Mackie.

  3. admin

And yes, it appears he does. I’ve heard from many people that he is a genuinely nice guy.

  4. I think he’s got a likability trait that makes people understandably think he’s a good guy. I’ve known a few people who have the same undefinable trait that makes you like them even though you know they’re of low character. It’s a good trait to have as a politician…

I suppose a man or woman should be judged by their actions. Some of the people Stewart Little summarily tossed out of the county, suffered great lengths to get here. Whta is it like for their children, when they watch their Papa leave in the morning…and they don’t know if he’ll come home at night?

  5. WhyHereWhyNow

I’ve been hoping Chairman Stewart would say this for a long time. This is a sign he turning back int the responsible, low-tax, fiscal conservative he was before these jerks got a hold of him. Lets hope this translates into good news for our tax rate and our budget!

  6. Censored bybvbl

Liar, liar, pants afire! “I never had any formal meetings with them.” He said it three times. How about any informal meetings? Notice how the bubbly personality who advocated more immigration in the first part of the video differs from what follows…

  7. Dolph

I just thought I would stop over and see what all the flutter is about.

I would love to believe that Mr. Stewart has been misled. It is very true that a man is often judged by the company he keeps. Perhaps it is not too late.

  8. Think For Yourself

Both the Southern Poverty Law Center (Do a search on Morris Dees) and FAIR are big budget groups spreading hate against each other. Both groups enjoy noteriety at our county’s expense.

The resolution only targets criminals. The majority have spoken and thats why the resolution is staying. No one is being “asked for their papers” unless they are committing a crime.

  9. undecided (AKA TFY)

Does anyone get the feeling that both FAIR and the SPLC (the ones calling GL a Nativist – do a search on their leader, Morris Dees) stand to gain noteriety and profit from our county’s immigration troubles?

  10. Firedancer

What’s the definition of “a genuinely nice guy”?

  12. admin

    Think For Yourself,
    “The resolution only targets criminals.”

You’re ill-informed. The very first day it was implemented, they stopped a couple that were walking down the street in close proximity to a stolen car. The couple were carrying parts to a car but ended up having absolutely no connection to the stolen car; however they were asked about their status. But many times I have heard ‘targeting criminals especially those who commit crimes on top of the immigration violation’ but if you look a little closer the crime could be as insignificant as a noise violation.

  13. ThinkforYourself said: “The resolution only targets criminals. The majority have spoken and thats why the resolution is staying. No one is being “asked for their papers” unless they are committing a crime.”

You must not be a minority who’s experienced racial profiling. That or very dumb. What will happen is that a police car will sit on the corner and watch 10 cars driving by that are driving 10 MPH over the speed limit. As soon as the cop sees a latino face, the donuts hit the car floor and the flashing lights go on.

You’re either a liar who knows this is the truth or a very ignorant person.

  14. Elena

If think for yourself and undecided (AKA TFY) think that they can put FAIR and SPLC in the same category, they are WAY off.

The Southern Poverty Law Center was organized by Dees and Levin in 1971 during a desegregation case (Smith v. Young Men’s Christian Association[5]), as a law firm to handle anti-discrimination cases in the United States. The organization’s first president was Julian Bond, formerly of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. Bond served as president of the SPLC until 1979 and remains on its board of directors. In 1979 the Center brought the first of its many cases against the Ku Klux Klan. In 1981 the Center began its “Klanwatch” (now “Hatewatch”) project to monitor and track the activities of the KKK, which has been expanded to include seven other types of hate organizations.[6]

Southern Poverty Law Center Headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama. In July 1983 the Klan firebombed the center’s office destroying the building and records.[7] Federal investigators said “the intruders went to work quickly, dousing files, desks and carpets with a petroleum based liquid, perhaps gasoline mixed with motor oil or diesel fuel and concentrating on the four corners of the 6,000-square-foot building.”[7] In February 1985 Klan members and a Klan sympathizer pled guilty to federal and state charges to the fire.[8] At the trial, “Joe M. Garner and Roy T. Downs Jr., identified as klansmen, and Charles Bailey pleaded guilty to a two-count information charging them with conspiring to threaten, oppress and intimidate members of black organizations represented by the law center.”[8] Over 30 people have been jailed in connection with plots to kill Dees or blow up the center.[9]

That same year, Dees became the primary assassination target of The Order, a revolutionary white supremacist group, for his work with the SPLC.[10] Radio host Alan Berg was killed by the group outside his Colorado home; he was the number two on its list.[11]

In 1987 the group won a case against the United Klans of America.[12] This included a $7 million judgment for the mother of Michael Donald, a black lynching victim in Alabama.[12] In 1987 the Klan again targeted Dees and planned to bomb the SPLC.[13]

The Civil Rights Memorial in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1989 the Center unveiled its Civil Rights Memorial designed by Maya Lin.[14] The Center’s “Teaching Tolerance” project was initiated in 1991, and its “Klanwatch” program has gradually expanded to include other “anti-hate” monitoring projects and a list of reported “hate groups” in the United States.

In October 1990, the SPLC won $12.5 million in damages against Tom Metzger and his White Aryan Resistance when a Portland, Oregon, jury held the neo-Nazi group liable in the beating death of an Ethiopian immigrant.[15] While Meztger lost his home and will not be publishing any more material, the full amount of the multi-million dollar reward was not recovered.[16] In 1995 a group of four white males were indicted for plans to blow up the SPLC.[17]

A 1996 USA Today article claimed that the Southern Poverty Law Center is “the nation’s richest civil rights organization”, with $68 million in assets at the time.[18] Starting in 1971, the SPLC set aside money for its endowment in future programs, which is currently $111 million in order “to carry on the struggle for tolerance and justice — for as long as it is needed.”[19]

In May 1998, three white supremacists were arrested for planning a nationwide campaign of assassinations and bombings targeting “Morris Dees, an undisclosed federal judge in Illinois, a black radio-show host in Missouri, Dees’s Southern Poverty Law Center in Alabama, the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, and the Anti-Defamation League in New York.”[20] Several neo-Nazi groups held a rally in front of SPLC headquarters in early 2003.[21]

In July 2007, the SPLC filed suit against the Imperial Klans of America (IKA) in Meade County, where in July 2006 five Klansmen savagely beat Jordan Gruver, a 16-year-old boy of Panamanian descent at a Kentucky county fair.[22] Since filing the suit the SPLC has received nearly a dozen threats “promising the most dangerous threat” ever faced.[22] A July 29 letter allegedly came from Hal Turner, a white supremacist talk show host.[22]

    Firedancer,
Genuinely nice guy, I took to mean he is a friendly fun person. I’m just telling you what I’ve heard from people that have spent time with him in social settings.

I have to reconcile that with the Corey from the HSM meeting where he seems as if he’s had one too many cups of joe and the time he got a little snippy with Linda Chavez.

“You’re ill-informed. The very first day it was implemented, they stopped a couple that were walking down the street in close proximity to a stolen car. The couple were carrying parts to a car but ended up having absolutely no connection to the stolen car; however they were asked about their status.”

Uh, I am not sure you get what probable cause is. The officer did have probable cause to stop them and question them. Car parts in the vicinity of a stolen car. Did “the couple” have any ID? That could trigger the status question.

If a house went up in flames, and I were standing on the side of the road with an empty gas can, lighting a cigarette, the police would have probable cause to question me. If I lacked identification or could provide no verifiable fixed address, the police could ask me about my status. That’s not profiling. That’s police work.

Admin, I have noticed that you do not seem to trust the police to do the right thing. You seem to think they are just itching to stop someone for being hispanic and question them about their status. What gives?

Admin, I only know Mr. Stewart as a public figure, not as a person. But to me, a genuinely nice guy does not get elected by using immigrants. A genuinely nice guy would seek to address constituent concerns, but also recognize the importance of reaching out to ALL constituents and building community. It sounds like everyone wants to mend fences now, which is understandable, but I hope it’s mutual. And for the Latino community, the damage has been done.

  19. Does it really matter if Stewart is likable or not? Whatever Corey’s true nature is, his balls are being squeezed by a blogger of French Canadian descent. Can Corey just explain his precise relationship with Greg? I’d like to know how one citizen manages to gain so much power over his local government?

    Welcome Dolph.
I remember talking to you over on the other site.

    Welcome BruceM,

For the record – I made both posts (hence my temp screen neme). After making the 1st post, It showed up then went away, so I reworded it.

Elena – you could of just posted the link to his WIKI instead of cutting and pasting lol. The dirt on Dees is well documented. Do some research outside WIKI and you will find out the real deal on this guy.

admin said: “your ill-informed” – Sounds to me like the cops had probable cause, and that happens to white folks as well.

Mackie – I probably shouldnt even credit your “you must be dumb” and “liar” comment with a response, but here goes. You are dangerous. To stereotype that all cops are targeting Latinos is just as racist and hate-speak. Your assumption is your feeling – nothing more. Take a look at the most recent stats involving who had their immigration status questioned and get back to me, K?

Firedancer – show me one documented case (and also please review the latest stats with who was detained). I have had my share of tickets in PWC, and every time I was able to show my valid DL. Most people don’t take offense to this. You are taking the race card to whole new levels.

Undecided, I work with Latinos so I know what is happening in the community. I’m not taking the race card anywhere. If you have access to talk to community representatives, find out for yourself. I only have anecdotal evidence of what I have been personally told.

  25. Firedancer

People come on here from the other side, and are fond of saying that racism is alive and well here. But this site is nothing like the OTHER. Here is a gem that appeared tonight on the bvbl open thread. You won’t see anything like that on this blog. At least we try to be civil.

    MD Man:

It looks like Frederick and Prince William Counties are conducting a classic pincer manuever against Montgomery, Fairfax, and Arlington. Illegal aliens from the two enlightened jurisdictions will eventually settle in the Invader-friendly jurisdictions, and bring their crime, trash, anchor babies, overcrowding, disregard for laws, indecent public behavior, drunkenness, drug use, DUI, etc., etc., with them. Those counties will either fail financially, or whine to the Feds for help. Either way, it’s curtains for the Invaders. They’ll either have to return to the cesspools that spawned them, or get even more violent and intimidating than they are now with their shock troops (MS-13, etc.). I’m ready for either course they choose. In the meantime, I’m enjoying my legal and law-abiding neighbors, competent leadership, and fellow citizens here in PWC.

  26. undecided

Firedancer – fair enough. I live next to legal latinos and we have talked about it (over drinks and still stayed civil lol). They have relatives in the area, and haven’t seen too much, so my evidence is only anecdotal as well. However, to assume that cops are going to be racists about this isn’t fair, and perhaps a racial stereotype accusation within itself. Additionally the most recent stats dont show any alarming or disproportionate numbers of those arrested/detained.

  27. undecided said: “I probably shouldnt even credit your “you must be dumb” and “liar” comment with a response, but here goes. You are dangerous. To stereotype that all cops are targeting Latinos is just as racist and hate-speak.”

For you and people like you to assume that police don’t regularly abuse their authority is the real danger…and a manifestation of ignorance considering the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Now that miniaturized video cameras have become ubiquitous, theres no reason for your ignorance to continue. I invite you to go to youtube and do a search on police abuse, then get back to me, K?

Heres a link to get you started. The police officer in this clip was a 20 year veteran. If this kid had not had a camera, he probably would have ended up in the hospital…

Firedancer – the racism here is simply not frowned upon as it is targeted at whites, and more dangerous because of its overwhelming approval. Agreed that there are some yahoos over there, (made my 1st post to that site today adressing it myself) but there are hundreds of posts here that stereotype white people if they have different views.

  29. Moon-howler

    undecided,

You sure came on and made some assumptions about some folks. I don’t know anyone here who has some ‘racism’ issues, especially the administrator of this blog.

I will have to say I find your remarks offensive. This is one of the color blind groups of people I have ever met. The regulars here knew exactly what was meant by the ‘descent’ remark. It truly has nothing to do with race.

Effective, productive dialogue is not established by insulting the owner of the blog or other posters who are just making comment about the events of the day.

Perhaps tomorrow will be a better day.

  30. elena

undecided, you really should change your alias to DEcided. I have a long post, but my computer I typed it on just flaked out on me so I will have to wait to I get it up and running to repost for you.

The only dirt you can dig up on Dees is from FAIR. The organization is world respected and I refuse to argue its credentials with you. Will you dare to attack the ADL? I guess I am getting to the point where I am done “proving” how our county was hijacked by a few vocal minorities.

    Admin,
You know, I think it might be a good idea to have some way to permenantly post the reasons we are against the resolution and its probable cause requirement. PW resident also has suggested, with much agreement, that we have some way to also link to suggested solutions. I know this is more work, but maybe if we all pitched and compiled the info, it would make it easier to accomplish. That way, we just point people to that direction, as opposed to continuously re-explaining.

Oh, and “un” Decided, I forot to welcome you. So Welcome to antibvbl, where we may fervently disagree with you, but at least you have the right to be heard.

Elivs, pleae go back to your resting place, your are very annoying, but like any slight irritant, if I ignore you long enough, I will eventually forget you even exist.

Bruce M, welcome and I get your point about Greg being born from immigrants, just like the rest of us, even “un” DEcided

  31. admin

    Ed,
    Interesting video Mackie.

There are around 500 officers, each one has a lot of discretion in determining what ‘probable cause’ means. To me it seems a very subjective process. I have said this before – Police are human like the rest of us but certainly the vast majority of the officers are beyond reproach.

  32. undecided

Mackie – HAHA – Im an expert on Police videos. (yes I know everyone’s an expert on the net) – but seriously, editing them and deciding which ones to post a major national press organization is my day job. I have seen 1000s of them. I can also tell you that this is NOT South Carolina. Cops can be jerks, but no one is immune to their power trips. To only assume that Latinos are their worst enimy is again, your feelings. Cameras or not, Prince William police are under a microscope. Again my friend, check out the arrest stats and get back to me.

  33. admin

    Elena,
That sounds like a good idea about the ‘solutions’ page. I’d like to go get Medic’s solutions and build from that. I think it was a good start.

  34. Firedancer

Undecided, I hope it is true that you have gotten to know your Latino neighbors. I wince a little, though, when you refer to them as your “legal Latino neighbors”. That is already dehumanizing them. Imagine that you are a person who is quantified in that way. Unless your neighbor happens to be our dear friend “Maribel”, I am sure that if they have ties to other immigrants in the community and you continue having open, honest conversations, you will hear what it feels like to be a target.

  35. Moon-howler

The whole camera/cop idea is not necessarily based on distrust of our local law enforcement. The cameras simply document an event from beginning to end. The documentation reduces the incidence of false accusation.

The probable cause component of the 287(g) program is uncharted territory for our police force and there is not a great deal of precedence upon which to rely. Therefore the cameras would be a protective shield against unwarranted criticism and potential lawsuits.

Racial profiling is one of those things that automatically falls quickly into the he said/she said realm. Why not avoid these types of situations where possible by just providing documentation equipment? It was promised in the fall and should be delivered with this budget cycle. If it isn’t, then Chief Deane was lied to and so were the citizens of Prince William County.

  36. Moon-howler

    Undecided,

Just out of curiosity, how do you know a person’s race here? Funny, I have never felt the least bit of prejudice here because I am white.

  37. AnonForNow

Hi Elena, Moon-howler, Admin, Marie, Firedancer, Valley Girl, Turn PW Blue, kgotthardt, WhyHereWhyNow, et al. I’ve been reading ya’ll obsessively for weeks. In fact, I’ve been thinking and talking obsessively about this “Rule of Law” Resolution since July. Anyway, tonight, I finally got the notion to starting writing. In part because I feel the need to apologize to some of you. Let me explain. I was one of the people who started out thinking that Hispanics were ruining my neighborhood. There were just so many of them and I couldn’t communicate with my neighbors at all. I tried to talk to them directly about my aggravation with their loud music, big parties, trash in their side yard next to my tulips, etc. But they couldn’t understand me at all because they don’t speak a word of English and I don’t speak more than ten words of Spanish. When I tried to talk to them, they would just stare at me blankly for a minute and then just walk away without saying anything. I felt so insulted and angry. And yes, I did feel invaded by them. Sadly, I did write to the Board in support of the resolution in July and October because I felt like something must be done by the government because I didn’t know how to handle this situation as an individual. Then something happened. I went to Citizens’ Time in October. I had planned on speaking in support of the Resolution when I went. When I got to the McCoart building, I encountered a battlefield. It did feel like a Civil War. I had to walk through of throng of people shouting: which side are you on? HSM people were trying to foist a sticker on my chest. MWB people were trying to get me wear a green shirt. I didn’t sign up to speak because there were a hundred of people ahead of me. There were so many people, especially Hispanics. Many with children. I sat and watched Citizens’ time for two hours on the monitors in the lobby. It was intense and emotional. I was mesmerized by the weirdness of what was happening. I called my boyfriend and asked him to leave his job early to come to the building just to witness this weird scene. At some point, next to me a Hispanic child started crying. I pieced together that it’s because he had agreed to go up to the microphone to speak for his parents who did not speak English, and he just broke down out of anxiety, fear and pressure. Several adults were trying to calm him. I wanted to hug him and say it’s going to be okay. He was a tiny child. After he calmed down, I asked him how old he was. He said he was ten years gold. I started crying. I had to leave the building. This is what had come of my desire to deal with my annoying neighbors with their loud music, big family, and lack of English skills. I feel just awful about what’s happened. I would do anything to go back to the way it was before the Resolution. My neighbors are gone and there is an empty house next to me with a “for sale” sign. It’s been that way since November. Every time I go outside my door and see the empty house, I feel sick. I wish I had found a way to communicate with them instead of trying to outlaw their presence. I am so sorry that I contributed to this tragedy in PW. I had to share my story with you guys. I’ve been holding it in for all these months. Btw, my boyfriend is a big fan of your blog. Reads in like every hour. I’ll try to convince him to write something. He’s shy.

  38. Floodguy

Firedancer, you said this forum is nothing like the other?

Please read the three entries by Mackie. This person is close to being ill and obviously is in favorable status with this site’s administration, and who is not being moderated.

I’m pretty much a regular visitor but I’ve kept a pretty low profile here and on BVBL. I share many feelings on both sides. However, with unchecked comments from posters such as Mackie’s, I don’t think this site has any higher (moral) standing over BVBL.

  39. Firedancer,

I think the Advocator guy you quoted above is serious about being prepared to use violence. He is Robert L. Duecaster. He’s the wild-eyed, shaky-voiced, angry older man who made threats against the BOCS in this video:

  40. Moon-howler

    Welcome AnonforNow.

Wow, that is some story. It is amazing how our feelings change when we put a face on people who heretofore had just been a political issue.

My background involves faces rather than political issues so I have payed a great deal more attention to individuals rather than the politics. I don’t think anyone here amongst the regulars would deny that immigration, especially in PWC, is without its difficulties. Yes, we do have problems. I think this group feels there are kinder, more productive solutions than those addressed by THE RESOLUTION. We also endorse discussion as part of finding a solution.

Tell your boyfriend we don’t bite here…at least not hard. Looking forward to talking with you more.

  41. undecided

    Elena
I am leaning one side, thats for sure. I did post to BVBL blog today and clearly addressed the racism there as well, so dont feel too bad. I do not feel like there is a smoking gun that shows me that the resolution is a bad idea. I do see a lot of mud slinging here, but the core issue is dodged. Your answer to me talling me that enforing law is not an “Ameircan Value” – cmon – isn’t that a little too general? Why should we reward and allow illegal immigrants to break the law, and why should we not enforce it? I heard a lot of crazy reasons from the forum – for example “then the latinos wont give us crime tips” and “all cops are racist” and “those crazy right wingers came up with the idea so it must be wrong”.

It is my opinion that most people in PWC (outside this forum of course) do support this resolution. I do not believe it to be a vocal minority as you suggest. I guess we will all find out soon enough.

BTW – Thanks for the welcome. I will try my best to be fair, and I can be as guilty as anyone else for being “too spirited”. We may not agree but I learn from our debates. I will also probably only be in here from time to time. Believe it or not I am not 100% decided as well. I think there is a human rights issue, and to really put ourselves in thier place – but I just didn’t hear it from anyone in here.

    BTW –
    Once search 5 seconds.
The Church of Morris Dees (Harper Magizine)

This group confuses Christan White people with White supremecists. This is the hate I am talking about that both sides have decided to bring in. Regardless of what side you are on, this county doesn’t need it!

  42. notGregLetiecq

Oh, it’s you, Floodguy. I apologize for breaking the code of hospitality established by Admin, but I really hope you don’t become a regular here. You are truly annoying. Can’t you limit yourself to RK? You are so intellectually stingy. You never concede a thing. It’s terribly tedious to read your exchanges with people.

  43. Floodguy

I understand, that happens to people who are driven by politics over principle. Thanks for making my point.

  44. Floodguy,

I’ve never met anyone on this board and I certainly never asked for favorable status. If anyone disagrees with me, I welcome it. If the admin vigorously disagrees with some of what I have to say, I welcome that as well. No one should feel compelled to pull their punches. I think this site IS better than BVBL precisely because the comments are unchecked. Isn’t that the essence of freedom of speech?

  45. undecided

Moon-howler – I do not claim nor care of anyone’s race here. I have been targeted from my very first post. I was accused of being anti-immigrant based on my view. Plese see my first post in the Budget forum. I came in here with open arms and was dealt with harshly becuase of what I felt was honest questions that I requested answers to based on my personal experiences.

Firedancer – While their title is Illegal Alien, I do not consider the person themselves to be an “illegal” human being – it is understood that is the action they chose (sneaking across the border) that deemed them illegally in this country. I will not allow that term in my mind to be deemed racist, as it keeps clear that their being in this country is what it is – “illegal”. You have drug users and Illicit Drug users. Just because the drugs are illecit doesn’t mean the person is illecit. However if there was a profit to be made to stick up for the illecit drug users we would have groups calling that term racist as well.

  46. undecided

For what its worth – I do applaud the admin for this site even though I have opposing views. There is a part of me that shares a view with the other new poster above – AnonForNow. When the resolution first passed – I was 100% for it. But seeing some of the racist remarks in the other forum and the harsh treatment of people really made me do some soul searching. However, in the end – I still feel it is for the best. I wish our system could take on illegal immigrants. Many of them have taken clear advatage of the system.

Goodnight everyone. Thanks for hearing me out. I hope to come back soon.

  47. BruceM

Moon-howler, first of all, I LOVE you. You have made me laugh and think many many times. Thank you for that. Secondly, I’m AnonForNow’s boyfriend. Thanks for your invitation. It’s funny. My girlfriend didn’t realize that I had just posted my first comment just before hers because well BruceM is not my real name. (We had dared each other.)

I can’t say enough how grateful I am that this blog was established. I was reading bvbl obsessively and I have to tell you, it was making me feel mentally unstable to take in such high dosage of hatred and deception daily.

I can’t get around the fact that Greg wields so much power over these seemingly rational men and woman on the Board. I am desperate to understand this. Is it because he truly represents a large number of residents in PW? Is it the power of his blog? Is Greg a conduit to another more powerful person or network? It’s a big mystery to me.

Wondering if 9500Liberty can investigate further by asking Corey directly what their relationship is and also ask other Supervisors to explain.

Another thing, as the son of a career police officer, I have to say, I am outraged that the Board would ignore Chief Deane’s recommendations in July and submit to Greg’s pressure. What is that?!!! It really makes me ill.

“Why should we reward and allow illegal immigrants to break the law, and why should we not enforce it?”

Try being honest and admitting that it has nothing to do with enforcing the law. The immigration law is simply a tool that the nativists are using to expel a whole community of undesirables. It’s a very effective tool partly because it allows them to mask their bigotry behind the illusion of ‘upholding law and order’. If 100% amnesty was granted tomorrow, all their frustrations would remain.

“It is my opinion that most people in PWC (outside this forum of course) do support this resolution. I do not believe it to be a vocal minority as you suggest.”

Sadly, you might be right. This resolution is another assault on our culture of freedom. And with each loss of freedom our country grows weaker and our culture grows weaker, and we grow ever more dependent that the authorities ‘won’t really abuse that new power? right? right?’

That is funny. BruceM. Kind of a sexy name. Good job, honey, with your first post. I’m going to feel like I am sleeping with someone else tonight. Hmm.

I agree with BruceM that it’s weird that the Board ends up going along with Greg on everything, overriding other’s opinions. They certainly didn’t give a hoot about all the Hispanics who showed up in October. Don’t care about our beloved Chief Deane. Don’t care about following a democratic and practical process. They are actually behaving like they are intoxicated. Not able to think clearly, not able to have self control. Are they under a spell? Greg is an evil magician and he has put a spell on our Supervisors. Interestingly, I don’t think the County Executive, County Attorney, Chief Deane, Colonel Meletis and other county staff are under a spell. Just the elected ones. Hmmm.

Before I shut down my laptop, I want to respond to undecided.

    BruceM actually said
Whatever Corey’s true nature is, his balls are being squeezed by a blogger of French Canadian descent.
    – sounds like someone has racism issues,

I am actually of French-Scottish descent. I was being ironic because Greg is so obsessed with Mexico and has to describe anyone from or near there as Mexican.

Happy I finally jumped in. It feels great after just reading for so long. I invite other readers to jump in! The water is just perfect here.

And to AnonForNow, your moniker is sexy too.
