Here we go again. Honestly, it’s difficult to comprehend this type of management style. But for those that don’t know, it appears Corey’s looking for another spectacle on Tuesday. Here’s the email blast he sent out to everyone and their brother.
This morning in today’s Washington Post, one of my fellow supervisors, Woodbridge Supervisor Frank Principi, proposed repealing the cracking down on illegal immigration. Please email Supervisor Principi and the whole Board at [email protected] and ask them to continue the crackdown. The vote to fund the resolution will be next Tuesday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m. at the McCoart building at 1 County Complex, Woodbridge, VA 22192. I know it may be inconvenient, but please try to attend and ask others to attend as well. Everyone will have 3 minutes to speak.
— Corey
Guess we should be glad that he’s not spending the $30,000 on the postcards this time.
Chairman Stewart should just listen to the business owners that have been lining up at Citizens Time, look at the housing market, recognize the source of the resolution, view the budget constraints, pay attention to the economist, think for yourself and stop following the know-nothing that will eventually get himself thrown out of the Republican party. Distance yourself from him, distance yourself from FAIR, and distance yourself from this non-sense about filling out pieces of papers to send to a government agency that will not do anything with them. Chairman Stewart, focus on the jails so that felons don’t continue to slip through the cracks and be released back onto the street. Keep the tax rate low so that another 18 million dollars are cut from the school budget. Get rid of the part of the resolution that surely will attract litigation and put the county into a situation of having to spend money we don’t have to defend it. Then get back to our county business, by healing the wounds and working together to attract businesses and home buyers to our community.
casual observer,
HAH! HAH! I remeber it being Yogi Bear too and camped there. Believe me, I am one of those air mattress, electric hook up with a tent kinda gal NOW, but know that I have and will do whatever it takes to do it again 😉
Also, funny how I said Bull Run…opps, that would be FAIRFAX county…lol
Shoot, I remember camping at Silver Lake…
Emma,
Every person I know knows my husband’s status and never once has anyone spewed the kind of vitriol that I see from you and the posters on MJM. Every single person is supportive of me and my husband.
Also, we have been together for 8 years and he still does not have legal status. If we didn’t love each other, why would he still be around 6 years after NOT getting a status adjustment based on our relationship? You have no idea what I have been through in my life. I was married before, so I know what a loveless marriage is like, and the one we have is definitely NOT loveless. We have an awesome kid and will always be together. You are a low life scumball.
Have you all taken a collection to help Mr. Fernandez get his sign fixed ; )
Anonymous @5:25 is an example of someone who really doesn’t understand the school budget and how it works. Anon, you were unclear about these teachers who had been laid off? When did this happen? I wonder if the county had to buy out their contracts? You might want to check on that. That is a huge waste of money if indeed, what you report did happen.
As for RIF, any teacher who is RIFfed will be recalled when and if the need arises. Since the budget has not been set, and there are deadlines about notifying people under school board contract of RIF, many notices have probably gone out that will be recalled. It is caused by a clash of school contract rules and time table vs county/state time tables.
Actually most of what you have ‘contributed’ appears to be information patched together by someone who made a few phone calls but really didn’t understand how to piece their findings together into a coherent, accurate report.
Any occurrence that affects the tax rate, sales tax, or BPOL tax affects the schools and how much money they have to spend. Do not try to take credit on the one hand and exonerate on the other. Our world-class school system is rapidly becoming a third world school system. Many folks who support fully funding the Resolution in its entirety don’t support public education anyway. I expect many see it as a 2-fer.
Emma’s another moonbat that reads the comments section of an online newspaper to gauge public opinion. ‘She’ probably thinks the polls on Greg’s blog are a more reliable source though.
Perhaps once the ‘house’ is paid off ‘she’ can move out of the trailer park into one of the County’s cheap abandoned properties.
SecondAlamo,
“Have you all taken a collection to help Mr. Fernandez get his sign fixed ; )”
He does not concern me and but if anyone knows where I can find the pieces of his sign to waterproof my home at the camp ground….hah hah. Alamo, please don;’t generalize, it does an INDIVIDUAL no good.
Second Alamo,
Please listen very carefully: Not everyone here supports THE sign. I feel Mr. Fernandez has gotten very poor advice. I also feel the words on the sign are as biggoted as some of the language I hear on other blogs. I do not approve of either.
The next time this comes up, I suggest you make exception for Moon-howler because I do not endorse that sign and I know for a fact that many other people here do not either. However, let each person speak for themselves.
I do not allow my feelings about the sign in the City cloud my judgement. I don’t go look at it and I am not a City resident.
Trust me ‘Emma’ is one of Greg’s minions. They are truly panicked and are lashing out at everyone. Their statements are plain disgusting.
The bigger issue is not the sign SA, Mr. Fernandez has had no influence on our government policy, in the city or in the county. However, Greg and all the help he gets from “national” organizations is what we should all be concerned about. We are someone’s lab rat, and personally, I don’t much like being someones(FAIR) lab rat.
Admin,
Thanks for the confirmation.
What happened to the sign? I don’t remember reading about it. Was it firebombed agian?

When I first started reading and contributing to this blog, it was somewhat in the middle, but it appears to me that the blog has taken a turn to the far left and is now at the polar opposite of BVBL instead of trying to remain in the middle.
It seems to me that some have to complain just to see their words appear on the screen. The resolution hasn’t even been in place for 2 full months and everyone is crying it should be rescinded and everything put back in its place. That would be the worse thing we could do. I have said before, get off of the resolution, give it time to work and in 2 years, if the situation has not gotten any better, then stand up and complain because it has been given a fair chance to work. If it doesn’t appear to be on the right track and working in a positive way, I will be the first in line at Citizens time to get it rescinded.
I suppose you tell your children when they come across a math problem that is too hard, “Go ahead and skip it, it is OK.” I wonder what you tell your children because I can assure you, I told mine to work it out, nothing in life that is worth while is EVER easy, it takes hard work and lots of it.
The sooner you embrace the fact that PWC has a resolution in place and try to help make it work, the sooner solutions will come to light. I wish people that take up this much energy to complain about something would take just half of it and put it towards helping make sure the resolution, voted on and passed, worked.
I think most of you would complain if you were hung with a new rope!!
Quit whining and get to work finding solutions within the resolution!!
From Kenneth – Did it ever occur to you that the resolution is wrong in every way…destructive, hurts people personally, does not work….so we should sit on our hands and watch it hurt people and the economy? We as a county were idiotic enough not to recognice it for what it was – let’s not perpetuate the mistake!

And Principi has been bought and paid for.
kenneth said – Duhhh Emma, could you please explain just who bought and paid for Principi? This man is a real intellect……he s/b the Chairman….not stewart
Emma, on 24 Apr 2008 at 10:04 pm you said:
You have just forced me to tell you that you are RUDE, CRUDE, and SOCIALLY UNATTRACTIVE. You do not know the blogger you attacked. How unkind. Unfortunately, what I quoted was not the only nasty thing you said.
You came to this blog to be nasty. You have achieved your goal, quite successfully I might add. Now it is time for you to leave. I plan on shunning you because you lack common decency on a blog. I expect many others will follow suit. Have a good life now.
I’m all for cutting the school bugdget and getting rid of the extraneous and un-necessary social programs that have bloated it to what it is. This cummunity is fixing a problem that was cause by lawlessness and “illegal” behavior. I blame that for the economic problem. As soon as the problem is solved the community will rapidly recover because it will become a better and more attractive place to live for people who have more money, who will not see the neighborhood decay, decline, and corruption. We just cut the ugly guts out of a bad inner city problem and put it back on track to prosperity and growth rather community decay and decline. I give you less than a year and you will see more affluant people moving here, rather than continue out the 66 coridor to get away from the residential decay that we were headed toward.
Michael,
I’m concerned that the price of gas will cause more people to move closer to their employment versus futher away. And, unfortunately, the County doesn’t have a strong commercial/business base for people to find employment unless it’s a retail job. Second, if these abandoned homes that are bought at auction we will end up in the hands of investors and not individuals which could end up backfiring because an owner is more likely to properly maintain their property versus a renter who might let it slide into disrepair. Lastly, from listing to the economist we are on a slippery slope where if we have to continue to cut into services like libraries, fire departments, schools etc… we will not be able to attract people to the County. In short, I don’t agree with your assessment of what the future holds for PWC if we continue down this path. Some may call me a ‘nay-sayer’ but I’m just calling it like I see it.
Michael, I say this with all sincerity, I’d like to hear some examples from you as to what you consider “unnecessary social programs” in our schools. Too often, people have incredibly wrong notions as to what’s happening in our schools. Do you have children in PWC schools, Michael? If not, go volunteer in one of you neighborhood schools and see first hand how and what kids are learning. If you are the parent of a child in a PWC school, then by all means I’d like to hear about those unnecessary social programs. I’ve had three kids go all the way from K to 12 in PWC schools, and I’ve never seen what you’ve claimed.
I’m willing to bet that what you might consider an example of such a program is something that is mandated and (largely) funded by the federal government. Or, even more likely, it’s a program created, funded and staffed by parent, PTA and/or community volunteers.
Michael, I would venture to say that you probably don’t know a great deal about PWC schools. Do you work in one of the schools?
Casual and I will await your examples.
Ditto Dolph?
I meant ditto dolph!!!!!!! You’re behavior Emma is simply unacceptable.
Emma,
In order to ensure public decorum and promote healthy dialogue, you are no longer permitted to post on antibvbl. Unlike some other blogs, who play games with people, I am intent on being as open as possible, but your vicious personal attacks towards Twinad, crossed the line. I simply will not accept that behavior on my blog.
Thanks for doing that, admin. I don’t want to start avoiding antibvbl because I’m afraid of the hatred that I will encounter. I can always go to bvbl for hatred. I come here for substance.
Admin,
I disagree with your restriction on emma posting. People need a place where they can have a voice without any fear of reprimand. Now, some people will shy away from posting or hold back from saying everything they feel. You’ve started down a slippery slope here and I urge you not to turn back.
emma’s comments are offensive and boorish but it’s better we see the depth of the problem in our community rather than remain blind to it. We can’t be afraid of being hurt by the words of others. We must be brave if we are to tackle this problem head on. Of course, emma should be reprimanded but let the other follow posters do so. She has ruined her reputation with many of them now. Her opinions will be dismissed by people of good will on both sides of this issue and she will find herself a pariah until she learns to stop being abusive.
Correstion to my post above:
“You’ve started down a slippery slope here and I urge you not to turn back.”
should be:
You’ve started down a slippery slope here and I urge you to turn back.
“The future belongs not to the faint-hearted…it belongs to the brave”

Another cut proposed so Corey Stewart and John Stirrup can fun a their costly “immigration resolution” instead of working out a more cost effective, fair, neighborhood solution:

BOB MARSHALL–
YOU DEFENDED THEIR PROGRAM LAST YEAR. WE NEED YOU AGAIN!
Emma, first, let me assure you I did indeed get off the board to spend quality time with my family and to take a break from this. One can only do so much in a day. When I start to get tired, my posts don’t communicate what I want them to.
Second, the names were made up to protect the innocent. And the scenarios were used to show how this resolution affects various people in the community…REAL people, not those faceless “illegals” too easily dismissed as “law breakers” as if they are not human beings.
Third, Anonymous, the school system sends home a budget to parents. Last year, I attended the School Board and the BOCS meetings, and the combined meeting, designed to create some better working conditions between the BOCS and the School Board. Mr. Stewart wasn’t having it. The Chair of the School Board pointed out that until Mr. Stewart’s arrival, the BOCS and the School Board had always worked together for solutions that made sense. Not so now, as this year proves once again. Stewart supports the BOCS taking over the schools, eliminating the School Board. My GOD, what our schools would look like if this had happened! A man who has never worked in education pushing his mandates on our children once again for 6-7 hours a day? I don’t even WANT to go down that “what if?” road of thinking. It’s too frightening.
So in response to Anonymous and Emma and GL (who sat behind me at the BOCS meeting, talked loudly to his friends in front of a child) and spouted I didn’t know what I was talking about, (among other things he has taken from my postings here and in my blog. among greeting his pal, “Hey Nazi!” with the Rabbi sitting within earshot), allow me to assure you I most certainly do. I hold an M.Ed. I participate in multiple national discussion boards and email lists on education, immigration, the war, and more. I do my own research as time allows. I don’t say ANYTHING without doing the proper research. Don’t let my irritation or typos here mislead you.
By the way, on the daycare program, note the comment to Bob Mashall was my own.
Admin, don’t throw Emma off. She gives us something to argue about. So long as it’s not a total hate fest in here, I’m fine. How about others?
you ban emma but let kgotthardt post? nice! I do agree with medic, this blog has definitely taken a turn for the worse. Havent been here long but hoped my semi-sarcastic remarks injected a little right into the argument and got some stimulating conversation going. this is definitely “anti” bvbl for sure. you have become the total opposite of bvbl, congratulations! you have achieved your goal. I dont buy elena’s argument for a minute. I actually sat an reviewed a bunch of her posts to ensure I didnt make a false statement. This blog most definitely does not support the resolution thats for sure, but it does hold MWB, fernandez and that crowd in a very positive light. This blog sucks and is just as bad as BVBL in that it doesnt allow objective conversation.
I saw some derogatory remarks made to Emma, and yet those were allowed, so she should be given another chance less you become non-diverse.
The Illegal Immigration Resolution and whether or not we should keep or rescind it isn’t about Illegal Immigration, it’s about money. Make no mistake, I’m against illegal immigration (and, frankly, any other violations of the law). The County shouldn’t spend money that it doesn’t have.
The budget climate has changed… so should the things that the County opts to pay for. In this climate, it should do (and pay for) less. The costs associated with implementing the Illegal Immigration Resolution is an obvious target.
This is particularly true since the Feds appear to be stepping up as a result of the pressure created by the Illegal Immigration resolution. We should leverage the Feds action and use it as an opportunity to reduce costs financing a program that is a Federal responsibility to begin with.
SA,
Not sure what derogatory remarks you referring to. I told I thought her comments were despicable and that she must be a truly unhappy person to wish misery upon another human being. If that is on the same playing field as her comments to Twinad, I would strongly disagree. I have to admit that I suggesting the idea to admin, so if there is heat to take on this one, it should be directed towards me. Do you know what is so great about this blog, we can actually HAVE the discussion, that is what makes this forum so unique. No playing games with people’s most, its all out in the open.
I believe Emma has crossed a line, not one, but twice. It wasn’t just a simple you are an illegal alien apologist, she was personal in her attack. But on the other hand, Mackie, you are right, it does allow us to see who that person really is, that underneath her “illegal is illegal” lurks a person so incapable of empathy, they cannot see the totality of the immigration dilema. Admin, maybe I was wrong to suggest not allowing Emma to post. It’s your call.
Hey, I didn’t receive any email from Corey about this! Whaaaa. Should I be offended? : )
“CALL IN THE FEDS!!!” Oh that’s right. I already tried to do that. LOL!
It’s a math problem. If you don’t have the money, you revisit the math.
This reminds me of the War in Iraq, another ill-conceived adventure that we entered under dubious justification with no real appreciation for the costs or unintended consequences. Five years later, we are still mired down in this mess, the United States reputation around the world has been forever tarnished, and the Federal Government has run up a huge deficit. I see that as the future for PWC if we don’t resolve the Immigration Resolution mess.
I will observe that those in favor of the resolution will likely win as I suspect they are the ones effectively inundating the Supervisors with calls, faxes, emails, etc. expressing their opinion. I see no similar initiative among those opposed to the resolution. If those in favor of the resolution win the numbers game (more apparent support), they deserve to win the Governance game (in a Democracy). Why haven’t those opposed to the resolution galvanized their congregations, parishes, synagogues, mosques, etc. to contact their supervisors? Perhaps the grass roots support isn’t really there?
I hope to be proved wrong.
Among the other cuts proposed so the county can foot the bill for the “Immigration Resolution” that has much less expensive and less harmful alternatives, Stewart is proposing to cut 85 county positions.
Now, even if you love the resolution, I’m assuming you also like to remain employed. I know I do.
So I suggest every county employee show up in front of McCoart on Tuesday the 29th to protest the cuts and the irresponsible spending of our tax dollars.
Go ahead. Take the day off and sign up to speak.
Or if you don’t want to waste your gas driving out to McCoart, write to the BOCS and just take a vacation day. It could be YOUR job you are saving either now or in the next few years.
If Stewart wants a revolution over his resolution, that’s exactly what he can get.
Use your power as “the people” and stand up for yourselves.
Many of us will be waving the banner for you.
One thing on this whole debate that needs to be known is that the Board actually does seem to be under the impression that once ICE comes to take the PWC prisoners that they will be deported quickly. This is not the case.
I think it needs to be pointed out to Stewart that the Resolution is a colossal waste of money because ICE is not immediately deporting the people they are picking up themselves in raids! Do they really think that the PWC prisoners are going to be deported right away? They are not unless they are hardened criminals. They will be in deportation proceedings for months, more likely years. I acted as a translater for two of the CMC employees yesterday and the case worker said this:
“They are not even a blip on ICE’s radar right now. There is no need for them to be worried about ICE showing up at their house. The proceedings are just starting and this whole process will take months, most likely years, before a decision on their status will be made”.
That being the case, all the money we are paying to house prisoners until ICE picks them up is for nothing. They will be processed by ICE, but will be back out in hours or at the most, days. Unless they are a rapist, killer or some other type of real criminal. This is the reality and Stewart and Stirrup are kidding themselves if they think their prisoners are going to be treated differently than the people that ICE detains.
I disagree, Mackie. She has plenty of other places where she can spew, among them bvbl, and the MJM and WaPo message boards. They are full of angry, irrational, unedited spewing — which is precisely why I quit visiting those sites a few months ago. This site is a welcome alternative.
I think it’s a good idea for Alanna to prohibit posters who contribute nothing to the discussion, preferring instead to stir things up with hate speech.
Her approach is much different than the other blog — where hate speech is allowed to stay and only opposing viewpoints are deleted. I was banned from his silly blog ONLY because I disagreed with him. I wish I had my posts to show you what I mean, but I don’t.
Good decision, Admin. The last thing we want is somebody to stand before the BOCS reading examples of hateful attacks from your blog. 🙂
Puhleezae. The source of the foreclosure crisis in this county is the illegal Mexicans and the lack of construction and landscaping jobs for them to pay their bills. To tie this terrible problem that we are all enduring to the resolution is so disingenuous as to be laughable. My house has lost 50% of its value and I am stuck in Manassas Park for God knows how long now until I can sell at what I paid for it. I also bought at the lowest point in this neighborhood and still I am upside down. This house has lost 80k in value in the past 3 months alone as all of these ARMS matured and jobs dried up. I can’t even refi out of my ARM now because of it and I make good money and have great credit. Needless to say, my feelings towards corrupt government officials that allowed this to happen and illegal aliens that caused it are not very pleasant.

This is one of Greg’s minions, who has no desire for discourse and is just here to spew hatefulness. And, now I know, she is indeed female and additionally has unlimited access to Gainesville Supervisor Stirrup. Wake-up John, these are the people that you are associating with. It’s dispicable, you are guilty by association.
Additionally, Mr. Stirrup when will you renounce your membership to Help Save Manassas?
Mackie,
People should be held accountable for their actions, free speech does not mean you can enter a theater and yell fire. I would clasify Emma’s actions as such, and she will be held accountable.
If we ban emma, we lose the right to call this blog free of censorship. It will be tainted as a propaganda tool like bvbl. Admin, by all means pound emma into a bloody pulp with your words but please don’t start banning people.
The restriction on yelling fire in a theater is about protecting people from bodily harm. emma’s insults don’t rise to that level. If they did, I would support your ban. Don’t sacrifice freedom for the illusion of security.
Mackie,
I have ‘censored’ the home address of a member of HSM. I have ‘censored’ the location of the school where one of the Supervisors children attend. And I’m inclined to censor Emma. Let me have some coffee and I’ll continue to contemplate. Thanks for your concern over the issue.
Admin,
Emma is an ignoramus. It doesn’t bother me that she is spouting her nonsense. If anything, it illustrates to those that may be on the fence just what type of person she is. Disgusting, vile and filthy.
I am thankful that I don’t know or associate with anyone that is anything like her.
MEDIC (and Emma – you 1st post made sense, the others do not seem productive to me in here)
You are not alone in your thoughts.
But in my eyes, the responses are only proving your point about where this board stands. It’s obvious that the regulars of this blog lean far to the left, and have no interest in entertining the thought of discussing the resolution without referring to political opinions, with the exception of a few who say cannot afford it – which is valid point for discussion.
The bottom line is that it is too early to tell if it is working. Both sides can go to the “dept of politically motivated who pulls stats out of the behind” for support.
I do believe that this resolution IS very important to a majority of the citizens in this county. I may not be a full time researcher or professional “arguer”, but didn’t this county overwhelmingly vote for people who were going to enact tough laws on illegal immigrants? Many of us are speechless in how the system actually worked. This happens so rarely in today’s world.
It is fair enough to say that support may be dropping as there is a question as to whether or not we can afford it. But many of the regulars in here say that if you support it, then you must be anti-immigrant. There are many people who welcome immigrants into our community who also support the resolution.
As this blog belongs to the admin, she has every right to steer it in any way she wishes. But to me at least, and as others are starting to realize – it is not anywhere near the center – or that even which the majority of citizens lean.
Admin,
Leave Emma participate. She will get tired of using the same argument and people can see how GL people think.
Park’d it is good to see you here. I always admired your psychic abilities in the Other blog. When people call you racist, it is not that we are playing that card. listen what you say “illegal mexicans”. You should apply for a job with ICE. You see a person and you know not only that they are illegally here but you know their nationality. If that is not racism….
Your house lost value because it was overpriced. It is happening all over the place not just your neighborhood.
Weren’t members of the clergy rebuffed by Chairman Stewart when they tried to become involved in finding solutions? Actually, at the huge BOCS meeting, MWB probably had more representatives there than HSM did. “Democracy” didn’t prevail then, did it? A representative form of government often “does the right thing” whereas a “majority” often doesn’t. I remember the South of the Sixties and numbers alone would have perpetuated the status quo – segregation.
It’s my belief that the majority of the voters in this county were unaffected by immigrants and didn’t actively contact the BOCS one way or the other. And now is no time to make policy by numbers alone since outsiders at the behest of FAIR ginned up the emails that got this ball rolling in the beginning. Why should Californians, Arizonans, Georgians, etc. write policy for our county? Why weren’t there public hearings prior to the passage of the resolution to garner input from the people who actually live here? (The WaPo responses to articles – those responses that Emma loves – are written by people far outside our region as well as locals.)
Park’d:
“Puhleezae” Ha ha. Is that the Valley Girlian Latin plural of “please”?
The name of this blog is going to attract people who lean to the left. It locks itself in as only standing for whatever BVBL is against, The majority of posts by the regulars reflect it. It is the identity of this blog.
