Here we go again. Honestly, it’s difficult to comprehend this type of management style. But for those that don’t know, it appears Corey’s looking for another spectacle on Tuesday. Here’s the email blast he sent out to everyone and their brother.

This morning in today’s Washington Post, one of my fellow supervisors, Woodbridge Supervisor Frank Principi, proposed repealing the cracking down on illegal immigration. Please email Supervisor Principi and the whole Board at [email protected] and ask them to continue the crackdown. The vote to fund the resolution will be next Tuesday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m. at the McCoart building at 1 County Complex, Woodbridge, VA 22192. I know it may be inconvenient, but please try to attend and ask others to attend as well. Everyone will have 3 minutes to speak.

— Corey

Guess we should be glad that he’s not spending the $30,000 on the postcards this time.

Chairman Stewart should just listen to the business owners that have been lining up at Citizens Time, look at the housing market, recognize the source of the resolution, view the budget constraints, pay attention to the economist, think for yourself and stop following the know-nothing that will eventually get himself thrown out of the Republican party. Distance yourself from him, distance yourself from FAIR, and distance yourself from this non-sense about filling out pieces of papers to send to a government agency that will not do anything with them.  Chairman Stewart, focus on the jails so that felons don’t continue to slip through the cracks and be released back onto the street. Keep the tax rate low so that another 18 million dollars are cut from the school budget. Get rid of the part of the resolution that surely will attract litigation and put the county into a situation of having to spend money we don’t have to defend it.  Then get back to our county business, by healing the wounds and working together to attract businesses and home buyers to our community.

    Mackie,

I also threw in my 2 cents worth. If people want to be critical of antibvbl, that is their choice. It is Admin’s blog and she really has the final say in what is acceptable and what is not. She was fair. She told the person and she told us. Emma did not just disappear into the night like I have seen happen on some blogs.

    SA,

Figured you would be here goading the instant this hit the press. Thank you for sharing. Anything else?

    Elvis our very own troll,

Does this mean you will be packing your bags and leaving is utter and total disgust? (attempting to look very very sad here)
    ————————————————————–
I guess the bottom line is, if you want to be totally without censorship, start your own blog. No one has been tied up and forced to stay on this blog. Just say no and do not type those little antibvbl.net words if we offend you.

Much of the bear baiting is to take our focus off the financial scene in the county. The trolls should be ignored or allowed to talk amongst themselves.

We need keep our county from further financial ruin.

  3. Moon-howler

Thank you for setting the record straight, Decided. I guess that just makes me ANTI proud to hear it put like that.

  4. AnonForNow

Admin, I guess we could just ignore Emma. Just don’t engage her at all. Without blood and conflict to feed her, the monster will go away. In general, I do think that maintaining civility is a good goal. I love good arguments, but I dislike fighting words. It turns me off. You will lose some readers like me if the blog feels like a series of vicious arguments. You will keep those who can tolerate it or feed off of it.

  5. I.D. Clair

    Emma, Emma, Emma
You have my deepest sympathy. Evidently you soul and conscience are deceased. I feel so sorry for people who are so cold and hard. Sorry, you have such and unhappy life and the way you make yourself feel better is to pick on other people. Guess that elevates your ego.

  6. I.D. Clair

Correction on my misspelled words: Evidently your soul and conscience are deceased. Sorry, you have such an unhappy life and the way you make yourself feel better is to pick on other people.

  7. BruceM

Admin, Emma is a bully. If she isn’t punished in some way for her attack against Twinad, I will feel like it isn’t fair in this playground. I think she must be one of the Help Save Manassas nuts. BTW, I actually went to a HSM meeting to see what it was about and left just horrified. I have been against them ever since. It really did feel like a KKK meeting. It really made me upset that they were using patriotism as a way of justifying their hatred. Also, I left thinking that Greg is sexist as much as he is racist. He was super condescending to women. Even the women leaders of HSM.

  8. Here’s my take, Admin. Why not post some rules for the blog? For example, swearing is not allowed. (I would like this rule because it would help me be a bit less impulsive with my language choice when I get riled.) How about “no attacking other posters.” “You may address ideas and present counter-arguments, but you may not disparage anyone in this forum. If you do, your posting will be rejected with a note telling you WHY.”

Since you do this for free, however, I can see how my approach might not appeal to you as it creates more work. Just a suggestion that will help you ban meanness and not people.

  9. TH

    Admin,
I agree with what some people say about that this is your blog. We were censored in the Other Blog and we hated it. Some people like dolph or redawn engaged with me in a couple of conversations and other people just called me liberal or elitist and decided not to respond to my posts. I feel bad for TWINAD though. How about blocking Emma for a week or so and then we see if she behaves?

  10. notGregLetiecq

    Decided,
The name of the blog doesn’t lock us into anything. From my understanding, the blog was formed in reaction to bvbl’s domination over public dialogue in this county. Somehow bvbl became the town square. An alternative just had to be created because Greg was controlling who got to say what in the town square creating a distorted reality that the majority of the county supported the Drive-Out-the-Hispanics Resolution. It seems to me that the people here just want to create a virtual town square that reflects some semblance of reality. There is urgency to creating constructive dialogue because the Drive-Out-the-Hispanics Resolution was a terrible mistake and we need to figure out how to fix it.

We need to understand how we got to this point and discuss how to move forward as a community to truly save our county. One thing we could do: how about if ask the BOCS to form a citizens’ task force calling it something like “Community Relations Task Force” with a mandate to make recommendations on how to improve the tarnished image of PWC and how to heal this divided community. Another thing that we MUST do is that we as a community and the BOCS must find a way to reach out to the Latino community. I feel the need to apologize to them. We should all be ashamed that we allowed them to be scapegoated and driven out like this.

  11. Elena

    KG,
I think that where “emma” stepped over the line was the aggressive tone she took with Twinad. Maybe she doesn’t need to be “banned” forever, but I think that people should not be allowed to bully on this blog. We can have heated discussion, we can disagree on the what the real facts appear to be and that discussion has real value. However, I do not feel comfortable allowing someone to personally attack someone here. You know Medic, I am actually very disappointed that you did not see how Emma’s behavior is totally unacceptable towards Twinad. Twinad has NEVER sunk to such a low moral standard and she didn’t deserve to be singled out by Emma in such a hateful way. You can decry that we are left wing nuts here, but that doesn’t make it so. I know our immigration policy is broken and that we have porous borders that must be addressed, but I will not single out hispanics as cockroaches, parasites, or rats and I will abslulely not allow comments like those to go unchallenged.

Medic, you still haven’t addressed my queston to you. If the resolution IS working, than it is responsible for double the forclosure rate in PWC and the empty shopping centers, if it isn’t responsible, then why are we spending million of dollars to enforece it? Which is it Medic?

  12. admin

Ok. Emma you are in time out for 1 week. If you choose to return you will need to behave yourself. You can thank Mackie, TH and even TWINAD herself for my change of heart. But consider this a warning.

  13. “One thing we could do: how about if ask the BOCS to form a citizens’ task force calling it something like “Community Relations Task Force” with a mandate to make recommendations on how to improve the tarnished image of PWC and how to heal this divided community.”

GREAT idea, NGL, but since they CANNED multiple citizens’ times, I’m not optimistic. Stewart, Stirrup et all don’t WANT to hear from all the citizens. If they do, we might prove them WRONG.

  14. I understand your POV, Elena, and I don’t think TWINAD should have been singled out. Since Elvis singled ME out, though, I just thought it was the norm in here at times.

  15. Not that people didn’t stick up for me….you DID.

  16. notGregLetiecq

    kg,
I understand that you are not optimistic. I’m not Christian but I believe in Redemption, the notion that anyone can change. Even CS and JS. The notion of Redemption keeps me alive. Without that faith, I could not go on in this world.
I want so much for us to come out of this dark chapter of PW history learning something from it. I can say that the challenge presented to us in the form of the Terrible Resolution has brought out the worst in some of us and the best in some of us. For instance, I am really proud of people like Elena and Alanna. They stood tall in the line of fire to speak up for many of us. And who knows perhaps we will see next week that Principi, Nohe, Caddigan, et al are heroic after all.

  17. notGregLetiecq

I should add that I believe even Emma can change. I support Admin’s decision to suspend her but not banish her forever from this virtual Garden of Eden.

  18. elvis

what? they just want to work? I’m not surprised that this was not mentioned however I will post this here:

    http://www.insidenova.com/isn/news/crime/article/police_arrest_woman_for_prostitution/14436/

check out the 17-year old arrested for pandering…guess they start young down there.

  19. TWINAD

Okay, so in today’s MJM, Mr. Stewart says the office has been bombarded with 100’s of e-mails in support of the resolution. He is taking all the emails as though they are in support of him. I sent two emails, NOT in support…one to him and one to the whole board and I received a “personalized” autoreply this morning from each of those emails thanking me for continuing to support him! So he is not even looking at the e-mails to differentiate which ones are in support and which ones are not! What a class A jerk.

  20. Bring it On

    elvis,
very funny that you are complaining about starting young.

Probably in real life you’re a 40 year-old virgin. So it’s just built up testosterone that’s making you so cantankerous.

  21. Jo Blow

    1. hispanic is not a race. Police forms do have a place for hispanic, though, if you do your homework, white is the appropriate race to check. The name is a clue, though.
    2. Corey used his *discretionary* funds to send out postcards to all in October. Look up the meaning of *discretionary*.
    3. Corey wanted himself & supervisors to forego any raises for themselves in the budget – that got overturned by your accomplice supervisors.
    4. Medic & Emma make valid points. They just don’t agree with your world view.
    5. Admin & Katherine, I hear your children calling.

  22. Marie

I commend all of you who stood in Twinad and Elena’s corner. We do not need to defend this blog but do need to admonish those who are cruel and make personal attacks.

I think we need to ignore Emma. Let Emma say and do what ever she wants. She is just a bully and if we do not play her game she will take her toys home and leave on her own.

We really need to focus on the hard work at hand-getting a majority of supervisors to rescind, amend or not fund the darn thing. KEEP UP THE GOOD AND NOBLE FIGHT!!!!

  23. Jo Blow

for balance: yes, keep up the good fight and demand the supervisors keep their word and fund the resolution. give it a chance to continue working. (that’s for all those who believe in rule of law, just so we keep this blog balanced.)

  24. Luckyduck

Funny how Stewart was quoted in today’s Potomac News regarding Principi’s call for en end to the resolution that “I was shocked, he should have given the public more notice about this..and he ought to be ashamed, trying to sneak this in the dark of night….”

This is the same bully who brought in his own budget this week without sharing any of the information with his fellow board members beforehand and without giving notice to anyone. He should live by his own words.

He is a sore on all Republicans.

  25. notGregLetiecq

The supervisors must be so tired of Greg and Corey’s tactics. Haven’t they had enough? They must know that the majority of the emails are generated by the NumbersUSA machine.

The adults in the McCoart building–County Executive Gerhart and County Attorney Horton–must realize that the children are destroying the county. Why can’t they rein in the children and make them see the writing on the wall? Does anyone know: do Gerhart and Horton have good counsel and information about the economic and legal ramifications of this Terrible Resolution? Hope Gerhart has at least watched the Stephen Fuller video. Stephen Fuller should be hired immediately as a consultant. If there is no county money, perhaps we could raise the money for it. I would be willing to put up some money for that.

  26. “I’m not Christian but I believe in Redemption, the notion that anyone can change. Even CS and JS.” There probably is redemption for everyone personally, but not politically. Jesus doesn’t care about anyone’s political career. CS and JS have proven they are incapable of running this county. CS will never admit he is wrong and continue to lie. Both of them have lost their credibility to the public permanantly. Politically, these two in particlar are irredeemable.

As for the Emma thing, honestly, Twinad, I’m not sure exactly what Emma said that was that bad (I must have missed it) but I’m sorry if your feelings were hurt. Personally, I’d still like to see some rules for posting in here.

  27. TWINAD

    KGott,

It takes more than a troll like Emma to hurt my feelings. She started out by posting (with a little glee) that my husband was “one traffic stop away from being deported.” As it turns out, my husband was stopped last week and he is in no danger of being taken in because of the Resolution. He has a valid drivers license so there is no “probable cause” to think he is here illegally. If he had no license, then that is considered to be probable cause and that person can be questioned further. Essentially, Elena called her out on that comment because really, who would celebrate the idea of a family being torn apart? Apparently, she would.

Then she went on to say that he only married me to get legal status. She doesn’t know me so she has no idea what kind of relationship we have. He is a great guy and we have a great kid and are very happy together and love each other unconditionally. We have known for six years now that he can’t get his status changed until a law changes. That’s a pretty long time to hang in there with someone you don’t love in my opinion! It sounds like she made some really nasty remarks that were removed by Admin before anyone saw them. I’m not positive, but that’s what it sounds like to me. So I don’t think anyone saw the real nastiness as if her other comments weren’t gross enough to display the kind of character she possesses.

  28. notGregLetiecq

    kg,
I agree with your distinction between political and personal redemption. Yes, you are that CS and JS should not be in office. They do not deserve another chance to “serve” the public. I wish there were some way of removing them from office. How about a federal appointment for Corey? jk. sort of. I guess my faith in redemption applies to moral redemption. We are capable of learning to distinguish between right and wrong.

  29. TWIN, now THOSE are racist statements by Emma. That’s the kind of things BVBL caters to. Now I understand why Admin. put her on blogging probation.

NGL, thanks for reminding me about federal appointment. LOL. Isn’t that what they did to Connoughton? I hear he wasn’t very good at defending us from the development monsters, either.

  30. Willoughby

admin, what utter hypocrisy! The upper-right-hand corner of your blog reads, “Blogging for those that care about their first amendment rights.” This is the uncensored version? You have got to be kidding me. Like SA, I saw some pretty nasty remarks directed at Emma when she was trying to make some good points. All depends on where it’s coming from, I guess. The bvbl crowd must be loving this.

  31. Willoughby do you think there is a difference between plain nasty and racist?

  32. Moon-howler

    Troll alert Troll alert.

  33. Willoughby

Do you think the message on the wall at 9500 Liberty Street is plain nasty, or racist? Y’all seem to support that kind of “free speech.”

  34. Dolph

    Hi TH,

I am so glad to see you. How have you been doing? I miss your comments and your knowledge about immigration issues.

  35. Ruby

    K,
Sir Connoughton did absolutely NOTHING to defend us from the developers. IMHO… Glad, to see that guy GONE from PWC politics.

  36. This new video is causing some raised eyebrows on the 9500 Liberty YouTube channel because I posted it then removed it, then posted again (actually I did it twice). This explanation appears in the “more info” window on our YouTube channel:

This is a redo of a video (now removed) looking back at events in Prince William County in October 2007, leading up to the passage of the historic “Immigration Resolution” on October 16th, and the Virginia State Election on November 6th.

This video digs a bit deeper than the original video, invoking the name of Chairman Corey Stewart. Chairman Stewart recently distanced himself from the primary subject of this video, Greg Letiecq. Letiecq is the President of Help Save Manassas, the blogger/admin of Black Velvet Bruce Li, and the chief advocate of the Immigration Resolution, which Stewart supported.

The primary revelation in the first video was that Letiecq employed NumbersUSA to generate faxes and emails from a national list serve to lobby the Board of Supervisors prior to the October 16th vote.

The additional revelation in this video is that Chairman Corey Stewart and Greg Letiecq may have communicated on October 2nd in the hours before the Board’s meeting.

I decided to remove the old video rather than keep both up because there was a lot of overlap, and because, if seen without its companion, it would cause viewers to mistakenly believe that Washington Post reporter Nick Miroff “tipped off” Letiecq and/or Stewart that the Board was having second thoughts about passing the Resolution. This is completely false. Miroff was simply conducting a phone interview which is, naturally, an important aspect of his job. Miroff had no information that Supervisors Caddigan, Covington, May, Nohe, and Barg (since retired) did not plan to support the Resolution — the false claim that Letiecq made in his “Help Save Manassas Alert.” According to Miroff, Stewart became very worried when asked whether he indeed had the votes. Minutes later, Letiecq’s alert went out and the Board was bombarded with emails.

This “flashback” is relevant today because a similar storm is being created for the Board of Supervisors meeting on April 29th.

This Washington Post article by Kristen Mack from April 23, is what touched off the firestorm.

  37. Below are the 10 comments that had been posted when the original was removed. Click here for the updated video, titled “Letiecq, NumbersUSA, & Stewart (?) Teamed in October ’07.”

I have to apologize to Eric.

In the “Illegals, God and the Gospel” video, I thought that Eric intentionally edited the footage to make Greg appear to be an ignorant, arrogant [gratuitous profanity deleted].

But seeing this video, Greg goes on and on in what seems to be an unedited diatribe. His hate and arrogance are apparent.

I think the message on the wall at 9500 Liberty Street is perhaps nasty, potentially racist, and definitely protected free speech. I’m glad to live in a country where people may express their opinions whether I like those opinions or not.

If people had ignored the sign rather than making it a Cause célèbre, it would have went away a long time ago.

I am still sick over the lack of professionalism exibited by Chairman Stewart.

This morning in today’s Washington Post, one of my fellow supervisors, Woodbridge Supervisor Frank Principi, proposed repealing the cracking down on illegal immigration. Please email Supervisor Principi and the whole Board at [email protected] and ask them to continue the crackdown.

Is this the out of time version of the $30,000 invitations he sent out last fall? This email shows no character, class or professionalism.

At least this time he had the ‘nads’ to let us all know what ‘side’ he is on. I think the email is shameful. What is Corey afraid of?
Why does he want to pay double for things?
What’s wrong with having our criminals’ status checked at the jail?
Why does Corey want to use a program that costs a great deal more but produces very little more other than to instill fear in a segment of our population? I would hate to think he supported bullying.

    Inquiring minds want to know.

  49. Michael

Yes admin that future scenario for PWC could happen. I believe however that a “decaying community” once restored attracts affluent people. You only have to look at cities that cleaned up their residential and business areas and made them more desireable for richer people to move in, and the economy in those new revitalized cities boomed. PWC and Manassas is doing this very thing by removing the decay and corruption. Manassas Park and Firfax id not and will continue to decline in affluent revenue and tax base until you see Section 8A slums. This reality is not good for the long term health of any community.
