54 Thoughts to “Letiecq & NumbersUSA Team Up”

  1. Eric Byler

This new video is causing some raised eyebrows on the 9500 Liberty YouTube channel because I posted it then removed it, then posted again (actually I did it twice). This explanation appears in the “more info” window on our YouTube channel:

This is a redo of a video (now removed) looking back at events in Prince William County in October 2007, leading up to the passage of the historic “Immigration Resolution” on October 16th, and the Virginia State Election on November 6th.

This video digs a bit deeper than the original video, invoking the name of Chairman Corey Stewart. Chairman Stewart recently distanced himself from the primary subject of this video, Greg Letiecq. Letiecq is the President of Help Save Manassas, the blogger/admin of Black Velvet Bruce Li, and the chief advocate of the Immigration Resolution, which Stewart supported.

The primary revelation in the first video was that Letiecq employed NumbersUSA to generate faxes and emails from a national list serve to lobby the Board of Supervisors prior to the October 16th vote.

The additional revelation in this video is that Chairman Corey Stewart and Greg Letiecq may have communicated on October 2nd in the hours before the Board’s meeting.

I decided to remove the old video rather than keep both up because there was a lot of overlap, and because, if seen without its companion, it would cause viewers to mistakenly believe that Washington Post reporter Nick Miroff “tipped off” Letiecq and/or Stewart that the Board was having second thoughts about passing the Resolution. This is completely false. Miroff was simply conducting a phone interview which is, naturally, an important aspect of his job. Miroff had no information that Supervisors Caddigan, Covington, May, Nohe, and Barg (since retired) did not plan to support the Resolution — the false claim that Letiecq made in his “Help Save Manassas Alert.” According to Miroff, Stewart became very worried when asked whether he indeed had the votes. Minutes later, Letiecq’s alert went out and the Board was bombarded with emails.

This “flashback” is relevant today because a similar storm is being created for the Board of Supervisors meeting on April 29th.

This Washington Post article by Kristen Mack from April 23, is what touched off the firestorm.

    UFB!!

Secret meetings and behind closed doors. Excuse me, but I have to go puke now.

  4. Moon-howler

There appears to be a corruption here that is just disgusting– A corruption that might not be illegal but is so slimey and dishonest that it leaves you feeling dirty.

Eric and Annabel, thanks for tying all the loose ends up. What is so frightening is that what you have uncovered is probably just the top of the iceberg. UFB!!!!

  5. When he talks about Maureen calling him out, he looks so freaky

  6. Ruby

I’m feeling some better. I am just thinking of Charlie Rich’s song from the 70’s.. When We Get Behind Closed Doors. Looks like there needs to be some new words to update the song to suit this BS.

  7. Marie

Oh my gosh!! Thank you Eric and Annabel. Too bad you could play this video Tuesday. There sure does appear to be corruption or at least some underhanded dealings going on.
Doesn’t just make you want to scream. Politicians!!!!!! No wonder the frickin County and the City and the USA are in such a mess. I bet this crap goes on all the time everywhere. I hope Stewart gets called on this.

  8. WhyHereWhyNow

Gospel Greg and the hate groups are teaming up in the present tense too, trust me. NumbersUSA are the ones who cook up all these fake statistics that blind people to the simple unadulterated facts provided by economists like Dr. Fuller.

We should all email both videos to the Supervisors and ask whether an email blitz from yet another nation-wide anti-immigrant lobby group should have more weight than the lives and livelihoods of their constituents.

If we don’t, once again, our Supervisors will think the hysterically ignorant faxes and emails they receive represent their constituents.

In reality, the majority of NumbersUSA’s membership does not live in Prince William County. Like FAIR, Numbers USA is a NATIONAL group.

Will our Supervisors be duped once again?

More importantly, will be get screwed once again?

Unless we act, it’s likely. By God, are there any giant email list serves in the country that AREN’T controlled by anti-immigrant hate-mongers with bogus statistics?

  9. elvis

oh my god!! appears you are just trying to sensationalize things but reintroducing the video. You need to present stuff in it’s raw form instead of piecing together edits to your pleasure. You are not presenting the full story and since you all like to mention the “nazi” word all the time you are just as bad as them, they edited their propaganda too and spun it the way they wanted to…just like you all are doing. 9500 liberty and this blog are just big propaganda pieces to forward the moonbat agenda. you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

  10. So Greg used the resources of Numbers USA to encourage the BOCS to pass the resolution he supported. This is the big news that E & A have delivered today.

I’m going to check out tmz.com I heard that Amy was arrested.

  11. Where there’s smoke there’s fire. Something illegal has happened here. No doubt about it. You don’t hold secret meetings if everything is on the up and up. FAB WORK AGAIN, ANNABEL AND ERIC!

  12. Juturna

    Perception becomes reality. Regardless….

  13. admin

Tell me, El Guapo does the Labor Department endorse a group that’s been designated a HATE GROUP(alipac.net) by the ADL? Are you ALIPAC’s spokesperson for the Labor Department?

  14. I haven’t endorsed anything or any group, and I don’t speak on behalf of anyone or any group or organization.

alipac.net isn’t a hate group. It’s not even a group. It’s just a website that someone started to share the positive aspects of immigrants and Latinos. It is not associated with William Gheen or the ALIPAC hate group. In fact the guy that started the website did so to counter the hate spread by groups like ALIPAC and HSM.

People share recipes. They discuss schools. One guy is writing an ongoing series of anecdotes about his involvement in teaching English to immigrants. They also investigate claims made by anti-immigrant people and groups and is a pretty good source of information.

  15. I’ve heard that Numbers USA’s website enables someone to send a fax to their representatives. They also generate sample letters to send to representatives. I’ve also heard that some congressional staffers get so many of the exact same faxes that they’re more of an annoyance than an influence.

But I just don’t see what the big deal is that Greg used those resources

  16. Laurie M

Hmm, and I am sure Eric & Annabel will be digging up the story of the allegedbehind-the-scenes machinations between “Mexicans Sans Fronteras” and the Mexican consulate, ANSWER, etc….what about the issue that this blog felt it necessary to dispute allegations of “collusion” between anti- and E&A? Blog posts like this do nothing to diminsh that appearance of a hand-in-glove conspiracy.

Yeah. Just what I thought. Not likely. No “conspiracies” or underhanded dealings on the “progressive” side of the house. No fast-and-loose editing from E&A to advance their viewpoint and propaganda.

As far as emails and faxes to the BOCS, I always include my name, address and tel# so they can contact me if they need to. And seveal have to clarify some of the points I made. I don’t belong to “NumbersUSA” or FAIR or HSM. I’m just a legal immigrant who is a law-abiding constitutent who is fed up and is demanding action from our local government. The rules/ordinaces/regulations need to be uniformly enforced and yes, legal status DOES matter.

Enough is enough. BTW, even Nick Miroff had to admit that they got alot of complaints about the bias in Eric’s work when 9500 firt hit and E&A got their first wave of publicity.

I wrote the BOCS about my feelings about the Rule of Law Resolution, far from being anonymous & some type of NumbersUSA stooge/crank as you are alleging, I included some of my history (legal, law-abiding immigrant), my address and my telephone #. Some have in fact got in touch with me to further discuss my feelings and positions.

From Kenneth – Corey orchestrated the email bombardment to his office yesterday…Corey sent a mass email (i got one) and asked everyone to email their supervisors and blast Principi…then corey tells the PN about all the emails he got…….slime is a good word for this…..Curent time Elvis!

  18. TWINAD

Well, Laurie, I have also e-mailed the board with the opposite view, but for some reason I am on Mr. Stewart’s mailing list as supporting him. Even though the subject line of my e-mail clearly supported Principi. So I don’t believe for one minute they (or at least he) are reviewing the e-mails to see how many are on one side or the other. He was quoted in a paper today as they are being bombarded with e-mails supporting the resolution, but he’s got mine lumped in with his supporters. He didn’t mention the many, many e-mails he has received from people that don’t want to pay for a Resolution that didn’t get anyone they wouldn’t have gotten anyway the first month through the procedure already in place at the jail. And they haven’t seemed to have received the message that even ICE isn’t deporting people as they seem as assume they would.

So is it ‘several’, or ‘some’? And excactly which Supervisors have contacted you on this issue?

  20. WhyHereWhyNow

I don’t have any problem with lobbying firms founded by white supremacists sending hundreds of emails to my elected officials. These days, I have to expect they will.

What I DO have a problem with is having my elected officials LISTEN TO THEM.

I don’t blame Gospel Greg for using the internet to create all this noise. I blame the Supervisors for being intimidated by him.

A bully is only a bully until you stop backing up.

  21. WhyHereWhyNow

Laurie M, you idiot, that wasn’t an allegation. It was an interview! There’s a difference. An allegation is when you say something about SOMEONE ELSE. What you saw in the video is an interview, a person bragging about something that he did, and something that he planned to do.

I don’t know of any other lobbying groups that have this kind of influence on our local government. If there is one, we have a right to know about it. This is something the press should be doing.

By the way, I’ve stopped believing Corey Stewart was duped by Greg. I think he invited this. It’s one thing to run to hate-monger for manufactured political support when you have an election coming up. It’s quite another to do so when there is NO election for 3 and a half years and nothing to gain from damaging our community, our economy, our schools, our public safety, our quality of life, and our reputation.

  22. casual observer

His mocking, sneering tone (not to mention the crazed giggle) is what sent me over the edge. I cannot respect any member of the BOCS who continues to stand with him. He thought he was being interviewed by believers when that video was shot, and when bigots feel comfortable among friends, well, it’s just a matter of time before they say something stupid in front of a microphone. Macaca, anyone?

Even John Stirrup has to get it after watching this video.

  23. Moon-howler

    Casual observer,

Don’t count on it. JS will never get it. He is a believer.

The sneering and jeering was definitely a kodak moment. I sure didn’t feel the LUV while I viewed that video. (You know, the LUV we are supposed to send ‘them’ home with)

  24. Elena

It will be imperative that sane, calm, and reasonable voices prevail on Tuesday. We must be the antithesis of Greg. We must have real facts on our side. Greg is going to be throwing out all the supposed “savings” we are experiencing due to the resolution, schools being one, we need to refute that with the REAL facts. I think someone already posted why his statement was false. Was it Casual or Juturna, I can’t remember, please repost for me.

Just got this email late this afternoon from the police officer who coordinates the county’s neighborhood watch program:

    Prince William County Police Department
    Crime Prevention Unit
    Prince William, Virginia

    CRIME ALERT April 17, 2008

    VACANT HOMES AND BUILDINGS

Due to a rise in the number of reports of persons entering vacant homes and commercial buildings, individuals are urged to keep an eye on such homes in your neighborhood. Report any suspicious or unusual activity by calling the Police non-emergency telephone number: 703-792-6500.

The information below is intended for children, teens and adults who may be considering “hanging out” in such homes and buildings.

Q.: Is it ok to ‘hang out’ in a house or building that is vacant because no one lives there?

A.: NO. Even if no one is living in the house, someone still owns the house/building and you would be committing a crime.

Depending on the circumstances of the event and the investigation you could be charged with the following crimes:

    • Burglary – a felony crime punishable by a term of imprisonment of one to 20 years or, in the discretion of the jury or the court trying the case without a jury, be confined in jail for a period not exceeding 12 months or fined not more than $2,500, either or both.

    • Trespassing or Unlawful Entry – a misdemeanor crime which is punishable by confinement in jail for not more than 12 months and a fine of not more than $2,500, either or both.

    • Destruction of Personal Property – If the value of property destroyed is less than $1,000 it is a class 1 misdemeanor punishable by confinement in jail for not more than 12 months and a fine of not more than $2,500, either or both.
If the value of property destroyed is greater than $1,000 it is a class 6 felony which is punishable by a term of imprisonment of one to five years, or in the discretion of the jury or the court trying the case without a jury, confinement in jail for not more than 12 months and a fine of not more
    than $2,500, either or both.

In addition to the above crimes you could face additional charges – based on the circumstances and your behavior / activities – such as curfew violations, alcohol or drug violations, etc.

Think twice before entering a vacant building!

  26. Elena

Yep, pretty much fits into the article I found that says each forclosure costs the locality 30,000.00 PER home or empty commercial space.

    Thanks for the post Casual!

  27. casual observer

    Hi, Elena,
Not sure if it’s my posts that you want. You’ll find a few of them on this thread…just do an Edit–>Find search of word “casual” on the text of the page and all my posts will be highlighted:

  28. Anonimo

I definitely love how Letique points out the two flags on that vehicle but nobody seems to mind the fact that on St. Patty’s day rivers are dyed green, clovers are everywhere, Irish flags are flown…..ugh, how anti-American.

Lets not forget the photo in the post of Corey in front of a Royal flag of Scottland in his office. That was priceless. Yes Letique, divided allegiance.

  29. Anonimo

Has anyone else noted how this blog is getting more comments than that of the French Canadian?

    Great job AA and E&A!!!

  30. It’s true. BVBL is getting trounced by AntiBVBL. Just so you don’t go over there and double his hits for the hours, I’ve summarized what is happening over there below:

    1) Gospel Greg posts something false, hysterical, and hateful.

    2) Five or six people post “yep, you’re right” and add something equally false and almost as hysterical/hateful.

    3) That’s the end of that.

  31. Elena

thanks casual, I’ll do a search!

  32. I was reading some posts on bvbl reacting to Supervisor Jenkins’ changing attitude on the resolution. Park’d said

Their corporate sponsors must be crying the blues over this and they think that they won’t catch as much heat from their constituents as they will from their benefactors. Follow the money trail and hold their feet to the fire. They have to find out that there will be stronger repercussions from angry citizens than there will be from corporate sponsors and they will stay the course.

This was followed by Advocator saying:

Advocator said on 25 Apr 2008 at 3:06 pm:

I think you’re “right on the money,” Park’d. And there will be stronger repercussions.

This is just my opinion but based upon what he said in October, I think this man is hinting at violence to come if the resolution is rescinded. This is a growing concern of mine. When people want something badly, and it’s given to them, it creates much more anger when you take it away from them than if you had never given it in the first place. Anyone have ideas on anything that can be done to head any possible violence off at the pass? We should be proactive on this issue.

  33. Do the Right Thing

    Mackie,

That is frightening. The man is sick and there are many other sicko’s out there. This is one reason it is so sickening we are in this position in the first place. Had the supervisor’s had FACTS and real knowledge on the ramifications of their actions, it would never have been passed in the first place. Most people are neutral on immigration…it doesn’t affect their daily life, so they don’t voice an opinion one way or another. These people truly believe there is an “invasion” on THEIR turf, not OUR turf. It’s disgusting.

  34. Fire-n-ice chick

Oh so Park’d chimed in with his usual babble? I am surprised his usual reference to insects or rodents wasn’t a part of the comment. Park’d doesn’t live in PWC. He is just a mouth flapper. The other one? I don’t know.

I believe the rule of thumb is, if you are uncomfortable, run it past a law enforcement officer.

  35. Here’s part of the email I got from GL that I took as a definite threat:

“My first inclination in these cases is usually to hit back hard, but I’d like to give you an opportunity for you to demonstrate that you actually live by the values you profess. If raising the quality of the debate, and working to bring people together is a goal you’re really interested in working towards, false and defamatory accusations that I am an affiliate of the KKK or the Nazi Party are probably not productive to that end. I’ve made mistakes in my life, and sometimes a gentle reminder of the values I really want to live by have been all it took for me to set aside my natural tendencies to be combative, and allow me to step back and be more deliberate about what I was trying to do. It’s time to pass that opportunity on to you, so you might have the chance to benefit from it as I have.”

I don’t know about you, but my “natural tendancies” are not to be “combative.”

  36. And what is he being deliberat about? “Hitting back hard”?

  37. Elena

    Mackie,
I took AdvoHATERS comment that way also. He wasn’t very subtle, not at all. If we do prevail, the kids and I may stay at my moms for a few day! Just kidding, but only a little 🙂

  38. Continued from GL to me via email: “Of course, if you really feel that personal warfare between us is a good idea, we can do that too. Before that happens, you might want to speak with a guy by the name of Greg Bouchillon in Centreville, as he and I had a spat for a while, which I am very pleased to say has been entirely resolved and we are now good friends. He can tell you from personal experience what it’s like to try this tack with me, and may provide you with some valuable insight from his experience. He runs the blog “Daily Whackjob” at http://dailywhackjob.com/ and can be emailed at [email protected] .”

  39. Juturna

Frankly I would like to see how long Leteicq and his wobbly band would last “on the street”. It might be worth it. Probably a real quick show. 🙂

This is a huge and long term issue. Short term “victories” are simply those. Then (I swore i wouldn’t do it but then again 🙂 ) there is the meeting with St. Peter. Buena Suerte!

  40. Really! Except that GL is so into “warfare” that he probably has an arsenal in his basement…or living room. He’s just crazy enough.

  41. Willoughby

Many of you are so intense in your overt hatred of Greg L. and Corey Stewart that I wonder what you will do if you get your way and the Resolution is rescinded? Where will all of that hatred and animosity go? There are many public individuals that I might disagree with, but I don’t waste my breath assaulting their characters.

What could they have possibly done to you to excite such passion? Snubbed you somehow when you wrote them some pithy email or web posting? Of course, you have never used any sort of provocative language when communicating with them, right?

  42. admin

    Willoughby aka Emma,
The organization that’s behind this has publicly stated some pretty harsh anti-Catholic statements, that doesn’t bother you? Presumably Catholics would take offense and reject working with these groups. If you don’t want to sit in time out, how about 10 Hail Mary’s before you return?

  43. Willoughby

I’m not aware of an anti-Catholic stance there–I don’t spend a lot of time on bvbl because, frankly, it’s not all that interesting to me–so I must be missing something here.

Are you saying Corey is anti-Catholic as well?

  44. Juturna

Willoughby, I don’t hate Greg. I just said I don’t think he could take it to the streets.

You have a pattern here of ignoring the issue and attacking the poster?!

    Man up.

  45. redawn

    Juturna,

    no you didn’t, YES, you did…MAN UP….lol

  46. Juturna

Well, logic and reason don’t work. I don’t have much practice rolling in the dirt. I heard that expression from someone else and it seemed appropriate. Glad you like. 🙂

  47. redawn

    Juturna,

Most of the time hang low logic doesn’t work.
It is better to get OVER it before you get under it 😉

  48. admin

    Willoughby,
Just stop, I know who you are. I know your screen name on bvbl and you post regularly on that site. Can we stop with the games?

  49. Moon-howler

Actually Willoughby/emma, I don’t think you have seen everyone here call for the Resolution to be recinded. I for one have never asked for that. I have specifically asked, time and time again, for the 287g program to be handled through the jail. I want more personnel for this program. I want those who are administering it not to have 60 hour work weeks. Most importantly, I want criminals off the street. That means citizens, legal immigrants, and illegal immigrants.

Currently, our county cannot afford to keep the Criminal Alien Unit up and running. The supervisors say that we cannot afford dashboard cameras. If we cannot support our officers with the tools they need, I do not want to send them in to these uncharted waters without the equipment they were promised.

Some of our supervisors feel they must stick to the full resolution because of political alliances and pressure, even though the county cannot afford this. As I have stated in other posts, education takes a beating, 85 people lose jobs, and so on.

HSM wants to ‘win’ at any cost, even if it means destroying people’s lives to do it. I see nothing conservative about destroying people or getting things you cannot afford. That is what caused much of our economic woes around here in the first place.

Now, show me where we want to recind the resolution. You can’t. Money money money.

  50. Juturna

I haven’t asked to rescind it. I do think we should not sent county staff to the elderly folks (dozen or so) that are receiving meals on wheels. I think the youngest is 96.

What do you have to say specifically on that subject Willoughby or whoever you are??
