104 Thoughts to ““Prince William Scales Back Illegal Immigration Crackdown””

  1. Cindy B

Please bring up a solutions thread. What can we do to make our communities safer and more welcoming? What can we do to move beyond fear, anger, hurt? How can we help each other in a down economy?

  2. PWC_Gal

That was one of the points of the Resolution — to know who was in our communities –and to discourage transients/flophouses who have no interest in building up a community

  3. On BVBL:

    # Advocator said on 1 May 2008 at 7:16 am:

I saw two pickup trucks with mattresses in my neighborhood last night. They were UNloading them.

Perception is everything. Regardless of what got passed or unpassed Tuesday night, the perception among the Illegal Community is that PWC is back to business as usual.

It’s not time yet to storm the castle, but sharpen up your pitchforks and clean off the shovels.

Every post by this guy seems to carry the threat of violence. I worry now that the resolution has been weakened, that we might not see some violence by some of the hotheads who really believe they are ‘defending america’

  4. Look at this:

    # Mando said on 1 May 2008 at 10:24 am:

When our own elected officials have seemingly stabbed us in the back, I ask how can we do something about it? The cards are seriously stacked against us. There needs to be thousands of PWC, Manassas, and Manassas Park residents at the next supervisors meeting. All prepared and ready to do battle.

    # Advocator said on 1 May 2008 at 10:25 am:

Litterally “doing battle” is what we should all be prepared for, Mando.

  5. Marie

Both Advocator and Mando are scary people. I am with you Mackie almost all the posts by Advocator have some type of violent theme. I had not noticed it about Mando but I will watch more closely.

If these people had any sanity they would want to work together for the good of all. We need to find ways to restore civility and the reputation of Prince William County and the two cities located within the County.

I agree with Cindy B. we need solutions.

    Cindy B,
Here’s a great place to start. 12 Ways to improve your neighborhood right now!! I hope this helps. It’s made a difference in my neighborhood.
12 Tips to Improve Your Neighborhood Right Now!
Improve Your Neighborhood – 12 Easy Things YOU Can Do

    1. Pick up the litter near your home, even if you didn’t put it there. You can help stop the growth of trash in your neighborhood by taking away the existing litter that attracts it. Get others involved through Community Cleanup Campaigns. It’s a great way to get people working toward a common goal. Everyone feels good because they can see the results of their efforts – litter-free common areas and a well-swept appearance. Even children can play a part.

    2. Turn your porch light on. Crime tends to decline in neighborhoods that are well lit. Turning on porch lights is a simple way to start this process.

    3. Walk around the block. It sounds simple enough, but neighbors benefit over time when more responsible citizens walk about more (particularly those who are comfortable doing it) at night, every night, around their block.

    4. Drive slowly on neighborhood streets. You can take the lead in slowing down traffic in your neighborhood and those around you.

    5. Report nuisances and other non-criminal problems promptly.

    6. Make a list of the names and phone numbers of every neighbor on your block. Unless you know neighbors’ names and numbers, you can’t call them about a concern or let them know about a neighborhood problem.

    7. Meet the youth who live on your block and greet them by name. This ensures that each adult is better able to help in an emergency and is better prepared to discuss problems immediately as they arise.

    8. Make a list of landlords in your area. As owners of property in the community, landlords are responsible to the neighborhood and most are rightly concerned about the health of the community in which their properties stand.

    9. Take away the opportunity for crime. Lock your car and never leave valuables, even for a few minutes, in the car where would-be thieves might see them. Trim bushes or trees on your property that offer too-convenient hiding places. Make your front porch visible and make sure your home looks like someone lives there.

    10. Report crime promptly. Neighbors sometimes don’t report criminal activity because they don’t want to bother the police; they assume police are too short-staffed to respond, or they believe that there isn’t much an officer can (or will) do about a given problem anyway. Whether the issue is graffiti, petty vandalism, or something much more serious, police cannot act without first hearing about the problem from citizens.

    11. Stay where you are. Stable neighborhoods are built on the commitment of long-term residents who would rather live in a healthy community than move to a bigger house.

    12. Help your neighborhood association or similar groups. If leadership isn’t your desire, at least make sure someone in your household attends local neighborhood association meetings. You’ll be kept better informed of the issues facing the neighborhood and how you can help and, perhaps more importantly, you’ll have the chance to shape, guide, and participate in the future of your neighborhood.

Who is advocator? This is what he/she is writing in the other Blog:
    # Advocator said on 30 Apr 2008 at 4:00 pm:

“Anon2 and Riley: That is exactly why I originally drafted the Resolution to provide that every police officer, in every stop of every person, would inquire into legal residence status. Such a policy would obviate the need for cameras, probable cause determinations, and all the rest of that black hole of litigation. Why it got changed, who changed it, and why are a big mystery that’s never been adequately explained.
Legal2: No, this does not mean the Resolution is back to its original letter, as I had drafted it and presented to Mr. Stirrup. That version would have required every police officer to question every person stopped for any suspected offense about their legal residence. Now it’s up to the officer’s “discretion,” whatever that means. Any time an officer has discretion, his/her use of that discretion is subject to scrutiny for unconstitutional (i.e., racial) bias. Consequently, the possibility of lawsuits for abusing that discretion is still there.

I believe the amended policy is still stronger than what we had, since all arrestees will be checked for legal residence.”

    Interesting, right?

  10. 1. Someone should contact Brett on the video and give him a clue.

    2. Can the FCC do anything about BVBL?

    3. BVBL people who think like GL are scary and dangerous as hell. Arrest THEM. Leave the peaceful people alone.

  11. Actually, I just found the FCC complaint form and submitted a complaint about BVBL, their videos and their newsletters. The form is at

I think we should remember that Advoctor is Mr. Doucaster (sp?). He clearly explained in a comment he posted a few days ago that HE wrote the original resolution that John Stirrup ambushed the entire Board with. I think that we just need to be aware of the growing comments towards violence and make sure we pass all comments along to the appropriate authorities.

    Thanks! 🙂

  14. junkyard dog

There is much weeping, wailing, moaning and pissing over Chief Deane now. Riley is calling for his ouster and naturally, THE OTHER is going right along with the ridiculous call.

For starters, Riley knowingly refers to Chief Deane as ‘Good Time Charlie,’ knowing all awhile that this misnomer is the screen name of someone probably fired by the police department with cause. The character is a regular poster over there and always has something nasty to say about Chief Deane. Secondly, a list of ‘misdeeds’ has been put up on Riley’s blog that is almost comical. It is worth a trip across the River Styx to view the show in Hades.

All of this gnashing and trashing of Chief Deane is so horribly transparent. All this from a group of people who were blowing and crowing yesterday about their big win. Maybe they have finally discovered that the emperor has no clothes…or perhaps I should say that neither emperor has on any clothes. (oh so sorry for that disgusting mental picture)

I wonder if the traffic here will subside. How much more nah nah nah nahhhhh nah will there be?

Oh this is rich! Kate helped start this blog on the basis that her right to express herself was being denied by Greg Leticq, who was censoring comments and banning some posters. Now she wants the FCC to step in and censor BVBL? Kate, Kate, Kate…very hypocritical I think. This is (political and therefore protected) speach. Considering that the FCC can stop the pornographers and sites that are really nasty hateful places, becaause the SCOUS has stated they are protected, what exactly would you like the FCC to do?

And when they are done censoring BVBL because those people “scare you”, what will you do when the people who disagree with this site come after Alanna? I am sure some of the things posted over here scare or offend them as well.

    Silly, Silly thinking.

  16. Casual Observer

And when they are done censoring BVBL because those people “scare you”, what will you do when the people who disagree with this site come after Alanna??

Whoa…Ed…that sounds an awful lot like a threat. “Come after” certainly can be construed that way. I imagine Alanna’s heart will skip a few beats when she reads it.

Especially since there have already been threats made, to the point where the BOCS stopped requiring speakers during citizen’s time to give their full address. That was a direct response to threats made against somebody else here.

  17. Mando

You guys are certainly a paranoid lot. I seriously think some of you should be on meds. You’re beginning to scare me.

  18. junkyard dog

Apparently the BOCS didn’t feel anyone was being paranoid. They are who suggested leaving off the address of the speakers. If I am not mistaken, the motion was approved unanimously.

Is Mando suggesting that the BOCS go on meds also?

  19. Ed

    Casual Observer,

Perhaps you’ve watched ‘Taxi Driver” one to many times.

I was referring to the fact that if Kate wants bvbl shut down by the FCC, the commenters arrested because they “scare” her, someone else could, applying the same standard, shut this blog down.

But, this discussion is academic. The FCC can’t do anything about a political blog. No one is going to be thrown in jail. Kate’s just losing her grip on reality, is supremely naieve about the way the 1st Ammend. works, or both.

  20. Casual Observer

    Mando,
You know what they say: “Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you.”

Believe me when I say that several posters here have received harassing and threatening emails because they are brave enough not to hide behind a pseudonym.

    Unlike me. 🙂

Thanks for the laugh. I really needed it.

  22. hello

kgotthard – wow, your complete disconnect from reality is amazing. When your not constantly offending people by your anti-Semitic behavior (your repeated use of the Nazi term even when Jewish people have said it offends them) your calling people names and thinking up federal charges for BOCS members. Now your making FCC complaints about BVBL? You hardly ever have anything constructive to add to any discussion and in my book have zero credibility. Why don’t you try a new approach, try being constructive for a change instead of wasting your time with all of this nonsense.

This behavior not only turns people off to you but to this site as a whole. Some people that are on the fence about the resolution might be coming here to hear what the other side has to say and your comments only tip them back to the other side. If that is your objective than mission accomplished.

  23. elvis

I dont think ed is being threatening at all..in one post Gotthardt threatened to go after and report greg to his employer just because she didnt agree with his actions, now we are getting FCC reports! Come on people, why dont you just call his momma while your at it. This is a damn BLOG. I dont seen anyone over on BVBL complaining to your employers or threating to report to the FCC.

This is getting unreal in here folks get a little grip and get back to the debate. Ed did have a point and it wasnt threatening at all, once you open the floodgates and start “reporting” on people, you have to remember that those floodgates are now open BOTH ways…you reap what you sow and you get what you give in these cases.

  24. hello

kgotthard – (3. BVBL people who think like GL are scary and dangerous as hell. Arrest THEM. Leave the peaceful people alone.)

sorry, I forgot that you also want people arrested for thinking like someone. That’s a new one, not for doing anything, just thinking. Wow…

  25. Casual Observer

Just got this from Eric and Annabel. They’re on Wolf Blitzer’s Situation Room today:

    Can you help us out?

Tonight CNN will air a segment about 9500 Liberty starring Annabel and yours truly. It will be during Wolf Blitzer’s program which is I believe 4 PM to 7 PM EST (check your TV guide). We expect a lot of traffic to the YouTube page in the hours that follow, so we are cleaning house, putting the best videos on the channel page.

The channel page has a comments section if you scroll down. During the day today, it would be great if you guys could post some comments and start a civil and constructive conversation there so that new-comers are encouraged to join in. Be prepared for some wacko’s to post some of the usual mindless talking points once the show airs (especially where you can comment on individual videos).

    Thanks,
    Eric, Annabel, and Jeff

  26. elvis

yeah, 9500 liberty is VERY objective! Not! They are about as one-sided as they come. has anyone in here REALLY watched their videos?

  27. elvis

so if you liberal moonbat nutjobs scare me (and you do) so I should have each and every one of you arrested? this is getting pretty retarded in here.

  28. LOL! First of all, get my name right. It’s Katherine, not Kate. Second of all, I had nothing to do with getting this website up. Third, when many of us have already been personally threatened by GL, there is good reason to be nervous. Fourth, GL puts out his videos, his newsletters, and his rot via BVBL. The rot out there is full of hatred, threats, and references to violence. GL’s connection to the military, his open bragging about going to a 7/11 with a gun, his wearing of army fatigues….this isn’t about free speech. If it were all words and no action, that would be one thing, but BVBL has produced a bunch of active, dangerous hate mongers that no community needs. At some point, this constitutes a hate crime.

  29. Ed

Ok. I am afraid of Kate. She sounds a bit unbalanced to me, parnoid even. I am contacting the proper authorities, sending an email to the Vatican, and lodging a complaint with the FCC. I don’t like the things she writes here, or over at her blog. I don’t like her connections to MWB, the clothes she wears, etc, etc. I am being sarcastic, in case you didn’t know.

If indeed you were really threatened by GL (which I don’t believe for a second), and you reported this, what actions were taken by the authorities? What was the nature of the “threat”. Was it legal in nature ie. threat of a lawsuit perhaps? This is my guess.

Please, share with us one, single actionable thing that Greg or anyone else has done. You have made him into such a boogyman that you are all scaring yourselves, and look quite silly as a result.

    Ed,

Katharine has called the police if I recall correctly after GL sent her some e-mails. She had never met him before. I’m sure she will post AGAIN what he has sent her. Again, meaning, she has already done so somewhere on the board.

  32. hello

Ed, kgotthardt has her own blog? I can only imagine what it’s like, maybe someone should check it out to be sure there isn’t any content which warrents an FCC complaint or some sort of federal and/or state charges or maybe an FBI/CIA investigation of some kind. (LOL!).

  33. Ruby

Eric & Anabel’s segment is on now.

  34. Censored bybvbl

Yea for Eric and Annabel!!! You two gave a voice to many average people.

  35. elvis

if you have legitimate proof of a threat of bodily harm then by all means call the police, it’s what I would do. But it looks to me like your blowing smoke and I dont believe it either unless you can submit legitimate proof (here and on this board) then I wont believe a word of what you are saying, katherine. put your money where your mouth is

  36. Moon-howler

    hello,

KG is not antisemtic. Let’s get that straight right up front.

We are not ‘the other side.’ There is no official position here, although most of us felt the the resolution should have be modified and neighborhood services should be a focus. Most of us feel that the board of supervisors did a satsifactory job the other night. Very few people here were carrying signs saying ‘Recind the Resolution.’ Actually we have views represented on the resolution. Our emphasis is on HOW rather than what.

If people do not want to come here because of an individual blogger, that is their right. Probably those people would not like it anyway, so it all works.

Lets not forget the issue. Yes, the police will be checking immigration status AFTER arrest. But they were doing that anyway under the original resolution. Most illegal or undocumented individuals come into contact with the police via traffic or some other minor infraction. These individual are will be physically arrested instead of being released on a summons so they will still have their immigration status checked. So victims/witnesses will not be questioned (as in the original policy), so I ask you, what exactly has changed? Lets wait until the police department issues a statement or they conduct the community training sessions again to find out what the difference is.

  39. Well I felt good because I had a Sheriff’s Deputy sitting two seats from me on Tuesday.

    Ed and Elvis etc……WHAT-EVA!

  40. “Most illegal or undocumented individuals come into contact with the police via traffic or some other minor infraction. These individual are will be physically arrested instead of being released on a summons so they will still have their immigration status checked.”

But you can’t be arrested for a traffic ticket. That’s the point. They won’t be dragging people into jail for a broken tail light.

  42. Lucky, here’s what I posted on the other thread.

“TPW, that’s a good way to explain it. However, I think the officers will also be careful about why they arrest. For example, if they see four guys in one week peeing in public but they only arrest a Hispanic guy, you can bet someone is going to cry racism for good reason. Some people think this means cops are going to arrest everyone for every reason, but I doubt this is true. Technically, homeless people can be arrested, but are they going to start arresting every homeless person they see because there might be an illegal immigrant who is with them? If the police arrest a minority homeless person, they will have to arrest ALL OF THEM! Can you imagine the outcry when homeless and lack of affordable housing are such problems in this area? If that happens, we will be in even more of a real human rights and image control quagmire.”

  43. hello

Also, I’m sorry if I referred to this site as the “other side” but that is what most think. I came here to see other thoughts on the subject and some things here have changed my views a bit.

Kgootthardt, YES, you can be arrested for a traffic ticket! If the officer has reason to believe that the person will disregard the summons and not appear in court (if an illegal immigrant has failed to show up for an ICE hearing (that is in their computers) then that is reason enought for the officer NOT to release them – that is what the training they received instructed them to do. Particulary if they possess no other legitimate ID that shows who they are, where they live etc. So, yep, they will be arrested.

Also, if you drive without a license, in Virginia, you CAN be physically arrested and that kicks in the new policy.
