Wrong Supervisor Stirrup. They didn’t write you in support of Immigration Resolution, they wrote in opposition. Begs the question, does he even read his emails? My personal email has been selectively purged from their list but this just in from some of his other constituents that DON’T SUPPORT THE RESOLUTION!

Thank you for your support for the Rule of Law resolution, which has been very important to me and to the community.

Beginning on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, the Prince William County Police Department began implementing its revised policy regarding illegal immigration enforcement. The policy was amended that police will now inquire into the immigration status of all persons who are under physical custodial arrest for a violation of state or local law. If an immigration violation is believed to exist, police officers will inform the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) concerning that individual. Police officers retain discretion to inquire into immigration status prior to a physical custodial arrest. Police officers will protect crime victims and cooperative witnesses – regardless of their immigration status. Racial profiling is expressly prohibited. Police officers will not detain or arrest individuals based on their national origin, race, religion or creed. During the month of June, all police officers and relevant civilian personnel received training on the new policy and procedures.

More information regarding the Police Department’s immigration enforcement efforts can be found on the web site at: www.pwcgov.org/police.

Due to the numerous emails I have received, my response to you on this issue is general. If I have not answered you according to your need, please email me again at [email protected]

112 Thoughts to “Wrong Again, Supervisor Stirrup”

  1. junkyard dog

I guess that person got counted as a yes.

Once again, people miss the point.

Speaking of a missed point, one of the red spots seems to think that people support loitering at the 7-11. Odd, what they don’t get is that people find HSM offensive out there stomping about. It is the business of the store owner and the police to monitor things and to take action if necessary. No one likes to see citizen bands harrassing anyone.

How about in my perfect world, NO ONE is loitering at the 7-11 or any other site.

  2. Red Dawn

I AM ONLY POSTING THIS AS I SAID THAT I WOULD ( could not decide which thread, so here we go)

From the new “open thread on BVBL”

Red Dawn said on 1 Aug 2008 at 10:36 pm:

    Chicko and mm,

I hope both of your posts stay up as I do my response to both of you.

I don’t know Alanna, Elena or K Gotthardt. I have met them all briefly and have corresponded with them via blogging.

” chicko said on 1 Aug 2008 at 6:40 pm:

I think alanna and elena have gained some weight recently, they are looking pretty porky. lucky for them lady of america is running a two for one special, all the weight they can lose for one low price. Must be all the mexican food they’ve been eating lately. Gotta hand it too them though, when they say they are helping the economy they are really “helping” themselves!”

” MM said on 1 Aug 2008 at 9:28 pm:

    chicko –

I had the unfortunate pleasure of seeing K Gotthardt about 2 weeks ago. I’ve known her for 6 years (of pure hell having to deal with her). In the past 2 years, she’s easily gained over 100 pounds. When I saw her, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I mean, she was no skinny-minnie to begin with, but WOW – she couldn’t stand for more than 5 minutes without needing to sit down because it was too much for her!”

But this is F###ing pathetic and I only ask what do you hope to gain?

I will be posting this on anti too as I am just F$$$ing sick of the low hang low mentality blows that thrive in pwc…well, maybe they don’t.

Regardless, it is just pathetic and so pathetic, that I am questioning why I am even responding, other than it is just that PATHETIC. 😉

  3. Red Dawn

yes, we have had Elvis and I tried to be NICE in response but seriously what do people have to gain by posting such shit?

I would say keep it up Elena, Alanna And KG as you have some people all up in a tizzy 🙂
    F’em 😉

    peace

Letiecq & Duecaster, would you expect anything less? Hey, what’s the difference between a hateful group of people and a hate group?

Speaking of Duecaster aka Advocator did anybody read this letter to the editor?

Inequities of No Fault Divorce where some guy named Robert T. Molleur writes –

Mom of course is given sole custody, 85 percent of her time with the child, primarily to increase the amount of child support — stipend often used for Brazilian bikini waxes and hair highlights.

The parenting role of dad, the 401K balance he solely amassed and the sweat equity to secure a fine home are mere lapses to the judges that use every Thursday morning to rubber stamp divorce decrees that favor narcissist mothers over undervalued fathers.

The feminists and mama boys that built the current family court system believe that fathers are mere deadbeats, except when delivering sperm on time. In contrast, mothers are victims because they have menstrual cramps and yeast infections.

    Then Advocator comments –

    Posted by ( Advocator ) on July 28, 2008 at 2:36 pm

Keep the faith, Bob. I’m just back from a high school reunion and found out two of my best friends killed themselves because they could not bear the thought of losing their families. The divorce industry, made up of bottom tier graduates from third rate law schools and all their counselor lackeys are the only real beneficiaries of this system. Even the women, who end up with the bulk of the “marital estate,” usually sink to a lower standard of living once the Brazilian grows back and the SUV with the license plate, “HIZ MONY,” wears out. Give me your e-mail address at the next Help Save Manassas meeting and I’ll e-mail you my book about a global solution to the problem.

What’s wrong with these people? They’re out of their ever lovin’ minds and the public bought their snake oil, hook, line & sinker.

  5. Moon-howler

Let’s see if Greg passes the ‘class test’ and takes that crap down.

Red Dawn, please let me know what happens with those 2 postings. I bet those 2 middle schoolers are in some arrested stage of development. They were probably pains in the arse in middle school and remain that way as 40 year olds. Lets see…40 something, divorced, (their wives out-grew them), moan and groan at work about their ex’s, pay child support but its always late, and everything that has happened to them in life is someone else’s fault.

Anyone else want to add to the profile?

  6. Alanna

    Two mysteries solved

SiteMeter logo gone from BVBL because
    http://digg.com/software/Sitemeter_Crashing_Web_Sites_Using_Internet_Explorer_on_Augu

and it was the cause of problems with IE. I have temporarily removed it as well.

    Thanks.

  7. Moon-howler

    Bring it on,

I think it would embarrass most people to air their dirty linen in public like that. How shameless.

Are we surprised that their women have left them? NO! Absolutely not.

  8. Yeah, I got one of those emails. I want to remind him I don’t support his resoultion nor will I ever. What a bogus piece of public record, that email is.

  9. I’m sure I know who the poster is. And I’m sure I know why he/she is posting. He/she has major issues and has had a weight problem as well. Sad.

I have a pretty tragic reason for having gained all this weight back and it involves some injuries and disabilities. I know I don’t have to justify anything to anyone, but I think these posters should watch their collective steps.

And I might suggest they try a little therapy for their anger issues.

  10. My response to Supervisor Stirrup’s email, sent to the entire BOCS:

    Dear Supervisor Stirrup:

I would like it on public record that I have never supported your immigration resolution which originated from a local nativist organization and a national hate group.

I do commend Chief Deane and his police department for the professional manner in which they have carried out the demands of this unjust policy. Because of them, you have probably avoided a lawsuit of racial profiling and institutionalized racism. I hope you thank them personally.

  11. Juturna

Great letter KG. Succint and sharp.

Regarding those comments, they are typical of losers at life. And hasn’t that been proved over and over – and by their own admission!!

  12. Jut, thanks for the affirmation 🙂 I know this intellectually, but it’s still difficult because it reminds me of things I would prefer to forget. Se la vie.

One wonders why he/she would be invited to an HSM meeting based on comments like these. Seems it’s not really immigration related, is it?

  13. Juturna

KG – snort – its never been about immigration. Its been about influence, control, and propelling oneself into the limelight. The fact that they are intellectually incapable of actually accommplishing these goals has resulted in the mess we are in. Pretty sure its not over yet. More failures to come

  14. Elvis

personally i think chubby chicks are hot, that’s my personal preference of course. to each his/her own of course.

  15. Cindy B

Insecure people bully others out of fear. That’s my take on the big issues and the side comments.

Off topic, come out and enjoy the African American Heritage Festival at Metz Middle School on Wellington Road today from noon to 6 pm. Free admission, but you are encouraged to bring a can of food for those in need.

And tonight at 7:30 pm at GMU’s Prince William Campus, the Verizon Auditorium, is the first in an immigration film series of nine films, with discussions afterward facilitated by GMU students involved in conflict analysis and resolution. Tonight’s film is Da Nadie….. tomorrow at 2:30 pm the film is “Letters from the Other Side.”

  16. Cindy B

Opening reception at 6:30 p.m. tonight and the films are FREE.

  17. Lucky Duck

KG, people who think they are insulting others do not realize in the scheme of life how foolish and small minded they really are. Because they do not intelligent arguments to make in support of their position they resort to attacking the messenger of the opposite viewpoint. Everyone else realizes how small they really are.

  18. Emma

Well, I wrote a letter to Frank Principi before the Resolution was amended and received the following response:

    NOTHING!!!!

Yes, the “fat chick” comments are ugly, mean and tasteless, but no need to get all excited with that when so many of you feel that gay jokes are fair game.

  19. Emma

    WhyHereWhyNow, 16. July 2008, 12:59
Rod, that was pretty hilarious, agree with Cat Scratch. I won’t take it a step further and remind everyone of all the times the GregNCorey Show have been seen leaving the McCoart Building together at 1 AM. But it is true that often those who show the deepest and most virulent homophobia are afraid not of external threats to their heterosexual preference, but to internal ones

Let me spell this one out:
WHWN’s Implication here: Homosexuality is wrong, and the insinuation of it can be used to hurt someone’s reputation.

To quote several here: “Perception is reality.”

  20. Juturna

Well we all pick our poision. I pick here.

  21. Hey guys,

I hope no one here is planning to travel outside the country for vacation for the rest of your life. Make sure you leave all your electronic goodies at home.

Did you know that when you reenter the country, DHS can confiscate your laptop, PDAs, cell phones, ipod, etc.

They can make copies of all the information they find. And they can hold onto your property for months.

Apparently, this policy has been in effect for quite some time but somehow the Government did not think we, as U.S. Citizens, had a right to know.

Here’s the clincher: they can do this to you for no reason whatsoever. They do not need any suspicion whatsoever. Will they do this to you if you’re having a bad day and act a little rude to a government employee? Will he confiscate all your electronic property and violate your privacy just to teach you a lesson about being rude?

Now they say it’s for the sake of security like in the following quote:

DHS officials said that the newly disclosed policies — which apply to anyone entering the country, including U.S. citizens — are reasonable and necessary to prevent terrorism.

However, ask your self this. How can they truly be concerned about security when the border is wide open and any terrorist can just walk across the border? The hypocrisy is staggering.

This is not about security. Otherwise the border would be sealed by now.

This is about slowly indoctrinating us into accepting a police state.

  22. Emma

Well, then, I’m doubly screwed, Juturna, because I need to hear both sides of an issue.

  23. Juturna

I think the gay thing was used against Greg because HE bashes and protests a wee too much. Don’t think it was reflection of personal beliefs here. In fact Rick posted quite a lengthy and heartfelt post or two on the dark side with which I completely agree. It provided insight into Rick that I thought showed tremendous strength and character.
I was rather surprised that it remained visible. But then again with such slow activity I guess BVBL will take whatever it can get these days. Even if it sounds “liberal”.
    Kudos Rick

  24. Moon-howler

Emma, I don’t think that was a gay joke. Sorry you misread it that way. I think it was more whwn making a life comment. I can honestly say I have never seen anyone make fun of gays here. If they have, I have not seen it.

I believe most people here, with the exception of an occassional guest, are fairly open or at least respectful of those who don’t have traditional lifestyles.

  25. DiversityGal

    Emma,

I don’t agree that WHWN was suggesting homosexuality was wrong. However, I believe that was an argument we all had at length in a previous thread.

  26. Moon-howler

Emma, I think everyone should hear multiple sides. I don’t think illegal immigration is a 2 dimensional issue. I could never describe my feelings about the issue in binary terms.

  27. Casual Observer

Thanks for the sitemeter info, Alanna.

  28. Juturna

Agree Emma. However I can’t accept that particular groups approach. Doesn’t mean I don’t listen to the other side.

  29. Moon-howler

    DiversityGal,

Thank you for that clarification. I was getting this horrible feeling of deja vu.

Emma, allow me to go out on that proverbial limb. I do not feel anyone here stands in judgement of gays or implies that they are somehow misguided or wrong. If they disagree, they are free to say I am not speaking for them. Fair enough.

More to the point, and probably also discussed, is why a special interest group president was lobbying the chairman of our elected body, the BOCS, at 1 am. At the federal level, this association might not even be on the up and up. However, we are local government and do not have the same restrictions. So while not illegal, could we at least say it is irregular behavior?

  30. Emma

No, not really, MH. I think it’s possible for two people to get wrapped up in a discussion long into the night. I have done it many times myself.

Implying that two family men are gay (with the implication that being gay could hurt someone’s reputation) is wrong on several levels. I hate the “fat chick” stuff as much as anyone, but I can’t separate the two in my mind, and I didn’t see a word of protest from any of the regular “anti” posters about the gay stuff.

Anyway, I don’t want to beat this one into the ground, but I hope you see my point.

  31. Moon-howler

I might if I had read it the same way you did.

I don’t think one individual or group should have unlimited access to an elected official at the expense of others. I bet if Elena or Alanna had asked for equal time, it would not have happened. There has been undo influence, in the eyes of many.

Now, if it is your organization that is getting this access, I am sure you would see it as a good thing. If it not your organization getting this access, then probably you won’t see it as a good thing. You might even think it is cronyism or influence peddling.

If you don’t have an interest or a dog in the fight, then you might not think anything of it at all. Me? I am still waiting for an apology to Chief Deane. Calling someone a traitor or implying, by using the word treason, that someone in serving in a public capactiy is not loyal to the United States of America can be extremely damaging. This behavior was dead wrong and I think we all agree on that one. Even if a minion apologized, I might be somewhat more forgiving. I have never heard those words and I do not expect to. I have hear and read lots of lying and denying but never heard a word of apology from anyone in HSM or who supports HSM.

  32. Thank you to everyone who has defended my fat here! Wow. I feel the love. 🙂

As to homosexuals, I got the “joke” as a poke at GL who is homophobic. I once had a homophobic pal. I told him to get out of the closet. It’s kind of a general way of saying, “Thou dost protest too much.”

Me? I don’t care what you do in bed so long as you don’t force me to do it. And I think discriminating against people for gender identity and personal preferences is unconstitutional, un-American, and morally wrong.

  33. DiversityGal

    Emma,

I do want to say that I did read your supportive response (on the other blog) to Rick’s comments about homosexuality awhile back. I think it was great that you backed him up.

  34. Moon-howler

I think so too Emma. Rick sometimes takes unpopular positions, depending on his location at the time. 😉

  35. Madam Mofo

Wanna feel the luv? Take a quick look at the open thread over on the dark screen. Now there is some pissed off second wifey. Seriously, is a blog a good place to discuss divorce issues? People who have even a shred of class keep those sort of things out of the public arena. Bvbl now is like Jerry Springer and Geraldo all rolled into one baaaadd show. When do they start throwing chairs?

  36. Emma

Appreciate that, DG and MH 🙂

I hardly think that Chief Deane is a “traitor.” But he is a public official sworn to uphold the law. He is very careful with his words, and he is smart enough to stop just short of outright insubordination, and I have a problem with that. He seems to be confused as to which branch of local government he represents. He should have resigned if he felt so strongly against the resolution, rather than blabbing to the press which only really hinted at his opposition to the ruling in the most recent article. I’m sure a lot more was said “off the record” that would have been very revealing.

  37. Actually, it’s Wife #3. I don’t read the dark screen. I was blocked once, but frankly, he doesn’t need the block to keep me out. I have better things to do.

  38. Juturna

Emma – third or fourth to say ‘good’ for the back up of Rick Bently. I was pretty moved by his post as I mentioned.

BTW, spent last Sunday evening at Champlains at Point Judith in the midst of a wicked thunder and lightening storm chomping on fried clams!!! Temperature dropped from 75 to about 55 in fifeteen minutes. BI ferry delayed. It was terrific!!

  39. Frito Bandito

Actually, it WAS often in support of the resolution. We used your automated mailer to send support messages. It was very helpful.

  40. Wendy

Poking around the BOCS pages, I find it very interesting that Mr. Stirrup does not include his HSM membership among his other civic memberships????!!!!! Anyone have any ideas why he wouldn’t include it? 🙂

“In addition to his professional work, Supervisor Stirrup has also served the citizens of Prince William as a member of the Prince William County Park Authority Board of Directors and the Prince William County Zoning Ordinance Review Committee. He serves on the Museum of the Cold War, Board of Directors. He is a member of the Gainesville Ruritans, Optimist Club of Manassas and the Prince William Republican Committee. Supervisor Stirrup is married twenty years to his wife Heidi, and they have one daughter, Sarah, and reside on a small horse farm in the Rural Crescent”

  41. Moon-howler

Emma, I totally disagree on your assessment of Chief Deane. Have you seen any of the films? If all you have heard is the dark screen version, I can see why you feel the way you do. There were some real false facts there.

  42. Emma

Juturna, I am sooo jealous. I can taste those fried clams now–bellies and all 😉

MH, I formed my impressions of him from mainstream news outlets over many years, not blogs or YouTube videos. I don’t remember if I posted my weird anecdote about Chief Deane on this or the other blog, not sure which.

  43. Emma, was that the one about him stopping you at NOVA? Didn’t he cite you for good driving or something like that?

  44. Emma

That was it, kg. This is a good one for Mackie. What if I had refused to stop? I stopped because I thought I was in trouble, not because I thought I was going to get rewarded for wearing my safety belt.

  45. Well since you are a good driver wearing your safety belt, odds are that you WOULD stop.

I think I would have laughed and shook my head like WTF????? 🙂

  46. Emma,

Technically it was an illegal stop. I don’t know if you’re a big pothead or something like that but you’re fortunate that you didn’t have any illegal contraband in plain view that day.

  47. Emma

Pothead? Hardly. Just a seatful of textbooks, and probably my lunch. I always wondered what would have happened if I had just kept driving, though.

But you reminded me of one of my favorite painful movie scenes:

Greg Focker: Who’d have thought it wasn’t about a dragon.
    Jack Byrnes: Huh?
Greg Focker: Well some people think that ‘to puff the magic dragon’ means to… puff… smoke… a marijuana cigarette.
Jack Byrnes: Puff is just the name of the boy’s magical dragon… You a pothead, Focker?
Greg Focker: No, I pass on grass always. Well not always.
    Jack Byrnes: Yes or no?
Greg Focker: No, um, yes, um…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLBdHVEDCn0

  48. Casual Observer

Thankfully, Emma’s opinion of Chief Deane is in the minority. It’s funny that it was HSM’s attacks on the Chief that finally brought people off the sidelines (or who hadn’t been paying attention) into the debate. Corey couldn’t switch gears fast enough. 🙂 Ain’t karma something?? 🙂
