144 Thoughts to “9500Liberty Screening at McCoart Tonight / Powerful Words Defend Marty Nohe”

  1. Once again, a long time public servant and long time resident of Prince William County has been attacked by the hateful extremists affectionately known as The GregNCorey Show. Apparently Supervisor Marty Nohe, like Chief Deane, has annoyed "Gospel" Greg Leteicq by standing up for the long-term interests of Prince William County, and perhaps getting in the way of the short term interests of Corey Stewart. So that you won’t have to enter the smelly bathroom where the hate is scrawled on stall doors and walls, here are the two relevant posts, the first by Chairman Stewart’s hatchet man / political guru … the second by Marty Nohe himself in response. It’s clear that Nohe’s response is written for people who understand policy and government; while The GregNCorey Show seems to be geared toward those who can barely remember all the words to “what part of illegal don’t you understand.”

By Greg L | 4 August 2008 | Illegal Aliens, Prince William County | No Comments

Manassas City Police Chief Skinner gave a report to the Manassas City Council this evening that all was going well with the Section 287(g) Program, that ICE is not trying to change the kinds of offenders they will accept, and that ICE is removing illegal aliens every two days from the Prince William County Adult Detention Center. Despite the success of the program and ICE’s willingness to live up to their obligations, Coles Supervisor Martin Nohe is making dire predictions that the program bears watching, as reported in the DC Examiner recently. Marty is starting to look like a vulture searching for something dead, and getting frustrated that there’s no roadkill.

Nohe said the board would to closely monitor the status of the crackdown to make sure the county is targeting violent felons, rather than people guilty of civil violations.

“Whether your immigration violation is a federal crime or not, your [criminal violation] is a crime based on immigration code,” Nohe said. “We’re going to closely examine and re-examine everything to do with immigration.”

Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement has given the county $779,175 to help pay for the crackdown. The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote Tuesday on whether to put that money into the fiscal 2008 budget, thus covering the shortfall.

It’s worth noting that the federal money under the Criminal Alien Assistance Program has increased about 50% as the number of illegal aliens has grown in the ADC. ICE is removing them punctually and paying the tab when we’re responsible for them at the local level, but Nohe wants to constantly “examine and re-examine everything.” One might make the mistake of thinking that Nohe is just looking for an opportunity to gut the program, and make it easier for unscrupulous businesses (like Verizon subcontractors) to avail themselves of cheap illegal alien labor.

Never mind that Prince William County taxpayers are going to pay about ten million dollars less to educate illegal aliens next budget cycle due to less school overcrowding and reduced demands for expensive ESOL programs. Just disregard that there are fewer unlicensed illegal alien drivers making our roads less safe and imposing monetary losses (at least) on local residents. Don’t bother with American citizens not having to wait in back of the line while illegal aliens take up slots for public benefits. Marty Nohe is “examining” to make sure illegal aliens aren’t subjected to too many burdens. How nice of him.

I just have to wonder how many illegal aliens voted for Marty Nohe in the last election, since he seems to think they’re his constituency. So far I’ve heard nothing about Marty Nohe “examining and re-examining” the problems experienced by his constituents that are actually eligible to vote, and who have had to suffer the effect of illegal immigration for so many years. Sometimes, you got to wonder who Marty Nohe is actually working for.

Greg, I’m disappointed in your misinterpretation of my words. Nowhere in this article (or any other that I know of) have I suggested that we should do away with any aspect of our current anti-illegal-immigration program, nor have I suggested that I expect that anything will make me change my mind about that in the foreseeable future.

I compeletly agree that the 287g program at the ADC has proven to be a real success in removing criminal illegal aliens from our community. The 287g program in our Police Department is not as long-standing as that at the jail, so there is less information about the results, but the early indications we have gotten from Chief Deane are VERY promising and I look forward to getting more detailed information from him in September. I anticipate a very good report card. But it is important to be clear that both of these programs are designed to target illegal aliens who have also violated the criminal code and give us less in the way of legal tools to address the challenge of illegal aliens who have violated the civil code. One could certainly argue that the program could be more effective if it were structured differently, but it is not.

In this article, I stated (correctly) that “We entered (our anti-illegal-immigration program) knowing that we didn’t have enough money,” and we had to make adjustments to our budget later. On Tuesday, the Board will be allocating money from the federal government to cover some of those costs. Given the uncertainty of future federal funding for 287g program (that you have addressed on this blog), we have to watch the budget carefully and make sure that we are getting thr best bang for the taxpayers’ buck because failure to do so could result in a less effective program. Or in other words, we will have to “closely examine and re-examine everything to do with immigration” to make sure that we are doing it right.

Because I know that our Board of Elections does a great job training our Election Day volunteers, I am confident that no illegal aliens voted for me in the last election. But I am also confident that those US citizens who DID vote for me want me to continue to implement effective policies to address illegal immigration in our community, and to be constantly vigilent that the funds we dedicate to the program are spent wisely in these times of fiscal strain. That is what I meant when I said that we have to closely examine everything that we do, and I am sure that you will agree with my desire to see our govenment programs operate effectively and efficiently.

    Thank you-
    Marty Nohe

Why not have the umpteenth screening of this at it’s namesake?

  3. Bring it On

Over my Dead Body. Is that what Stewart says? What is that about?

  4. Elena

Given Greg’s continually twisiting of reality, I wonder why Marty chose to respond. Let’s see, senior day care center needed a mere 150,000 thousand or so to remain open, ADC needs three quarters of a million to operate. I, along, with the multitude of others in this county want to know where our money is being spent. We already had 287 (G) in place at the jails, I still believe that having officers do redundant work is a waste of money. If someone commits a felony, I’m all for checking status, but that is where I draw the taxpayer “line”.

I see Greg is also spouting his illogical conclusions about ESOL saving us money in regards to illegal immigration. Since when did it become the acceptable scientific method to determine through ESOL enrollment what children are illegal aliens/latino decent?

  5. Juturna

So, Mr. Nohe is the new target? Have you looked at that post – all new name posters again. Adam Smith, Mrs. K (!!) then a few usual suspects. Again the perponderance of Anon’s and Anonymous’ on BVBL make me wonder if they aren’t still all the same person just advocating various positions just to make action over there.

I say, go for Mr. Nohe. Aside from being an elected official, he has his own business. That takes a shark not a limp fish hireling…nor a cellar dwelling troll. We may see the shark…..

  6. Elena

I will definately make it to this screening since I missed the last one!

  7. Censored bybvbl

With a larger budget shortfall next year, the redundant checks for immigration status would be a good place to begin budget cuts. The 287(g) program at the jail should pick up “the worst of the worst” which is what ICE is interested in doing.

Supervisor Nohe represents my district and I think he’s done a good job. My district, as far as I can tell, is not obsessed with immigration as an issue. I think people are more interested in park land, schools, transportation. The BOCS will have a tougher year ahead of it next year as property values fall and other tax revenues dwindle. I think Supervisor Nohe has the ability to take a balanced approach to solving the County’s issues.

  8. Moon-howler

We could have predicted this one. Mr. Nohe has stood up to the plate and questioned those policies he felt perhaps needed tweaking. Greg targets anyone doesn’t roll over and do his bidding. Anyone who resists his bullying becomes the new target.

PW County residents have a large investment in the 287g program which is a multi-jurisdictional venture. We are in it, the feds are in it in addition to Manassas Park and City of Manassas. I am glad Mr. Nohe feels it necessary to keep a watchful eye on things.

Good for you Marty Nohe. I would write you a personal note or email to tell you but I don’t want my personal information out there to be FOIA’ed by the forces of darkness.

attempted rape today in manassass. a hispanic male is the main suspect, wonder if he’ll turn out to be illegal? This is getting really old, seems as illegal alien crime is on the rise here and that’s just whats being reported.

  11. It’s hard to get rapists off the streets when undocumented immigrants are afraid to report them because they themselves would face scrutiny.

  12. Moon-howler

What would everyone be saying if the suspected rapist was described as black? or …horrors…white?

  13. For some reason, white people are allowed to commit crimes without causing mass hysteria that can be used by shameless political opportunists. Haven’t figured that one out yet. Tickle Me Elvis would be happy to explain though.

  14. Some simple facts that make The GregNCorey Show’s attack on Supervisor Nohe even dumber than their usual BVBL sheep fodder:

Gospel Greg is crying about the fact that Supervisor Nohe was quoted as saying we’re going to "examine and reexamine" our immigration program to see how well it is functioning. This is good practice for sound and fiscally responsible government.

This is a new, and very costly program being implemented in a time of severe budget shortfalls. It would be foolish … I’m talking Corey Stewart foolish .. to put something into law and then not pay attention while its implemented. It would be irresponsible … I’m talking Corey Stewart irresponsible … to put a program in motion and only show interest to the extent you can spin and warp the facts to make it "look good" for the Anti-Immigrant Lobby in other parts of the country. Marty’s dealing with our tax dollars, he’s dealing with a policy that impacts our public safety and the solvency of our government. The GregNCorey Show are only about politics and spin. That’s why we call them a "show."

Marty Nohe has always supported 287G at the Adult Detention Center, as has Chief Deane and the entire Board. Those are jail employees, not county employees by the way. But the criminal alien unit in our police department involves the same officers we depend upon to keep us safe, it’s unproven and experimental, and it’s funded by our tax dollars. Gathering information about this is a GOOD THING.

I think it’s very clear that Supervisor Nohe is supportive of the Immigration Resolution as it stands now, with immigration status checks post-arrest. This is the same policy "tweak" that the GregNCorey Show celebrated as a victory , remember clones? They told you to celebrate it too. So you did, most of you. You’re happy. Marty’s happy. The GregNCorey Show? Happy too.

But that doesn’t mean you go on the news to peddle your spin campaign and forget about the fact that you’re also supposed to govern. Passing a sound and legally defensible policy unanimously on April 29 was a first step. But implementing that policy effectively is equally if not more important.

The Board is supposed to hear a Chief Deane report on how things are going next month. We haven’t gotten a staff report, so we have no data yet. We haven’t heard from the UVA researches. We haven’t seen the county survey. While TheGregNCorey Show focuses on a dishonest spin campaign and forget all about the ACTUAL IMPLEMENTATION of the policy, Marty Nohe and the other responsible public servants on the BOCS will be looking at new information as it comes in in order to "examine and reexamine" how best to spend our limited resources in the best interest of the county.

It’s called doing your homework. It’s called taking your job seriously. You get some data before you run your mouth. I know that’s a novel idea for The GregNCorey Show, but it is a vital part of good government and we have some good leaders on our Board. Get used to it.

  15. Just Cause

Because crimes are not committed by Whites…

    (OK OK JUST KIDDING)

but seriously, When the Skinheads were in issue back in the day ( and I’m sure they are still an issue somewhere) thats all your heard in the media was the crime THEY committed. illegal Immigration is the hot topic today…

  16. Elena

    WhyHereWhyNow, 5. August 2008, 13:13

I totally agree with your statement!

  17. Thanks, Elena! I was afraid I was being too hard on Corey considering that we can’t be sure that he ordered this attack on Marty Nohe.

Just Cause, that’s a good point. White men who have very short hair and tattoos are probably just as frightening to many people as Hispanics and Blacks are in general. But … I’m not sure if we want to measure the success or failure of our police programs based on how many White men we see with short hair, or how many White men with short hair send their kids to our schools.

  18. NotGregLetiecq

Isn’t it funny how the Anti-immigrant people come on this blog, read the well-reasoned arguments that totally destroy what Gospel Greg is saying, and then rather than try to support what Gospel Greg is saying, they try to change the subject to something else???

Go Marty Nohe! You are Batman! Don’t let the Blunder Twins get you down!

    Moon-howler, 5. August 2008, 12:32

“What would everyone be saying if the suspected rapist was described as black? or …horrors…white?”

Problem is, most nowadays are commited by illegal aliens from south of the border. It happens on a weekly basis. Also, cultural differences make it much more of an issue. Rape south of the border is more common and less of a crime. Also, age of consent (or non-consent for that matter since consent means little down there) is 12. Women are more or less objects down there from what I’ve read and heard. Sex seems to be a man’s right whether or not there’s consent.

Rapists who are born and raised in America know it’s deviant or they’re psychotic and studies have shown it’s more about the violence and power then the sex. With the rapists we’ve imported from south of the border it’s a case of un-checked desire and their right to take it from you as a man.

  20. Mando

    “read the well-reasoned arguments”

That’s a matter of opinion. I see robo responses. If I cut and pasted them all in one thread the content would be identical.

  21. NotGregLetiecq

That is a rather ignorant and racist claim to make Mando. “Most” crimes are always committed by whichever groups hysterical zealots want to scapegoat, crackdown on, intern, exterminate. Never turns out to have any factual basis, but perception is reality right Greg?

  22. Mando

    Read the newspaper much?

  23. NotGregLetiecq

I saw a Dateline report that showed that a lot of identity thefts are committed by computer geeks in West Africa.

Mando, I’m sure that YOU’D be gullible enough that if Gospel Greg told you to be angry and hysterical about identity theft, and that the majority of identity thefts are committed by people of African descent, you’d be foaming at the mouth to pass an ordinance that puts police officers in our libraries to check all people who look like they might be African before they sign up for a computer.

We’d say, whoa, that’s racial profiling. And you’d say, “But Gospel Greg saw something on Dateline and I thought I was supposed to be hateful and hysterical.”

  24. Mando

    uhhh… yeah…

  25. NotGregLetiecq

So easy to run circles around you, Mando. ( :

  26. NotGregLetiecq

    Bring it On:

The “Over My Dead Body” comment first surfaced in the infamous Washington Post editorial:

    http://www.antibvbl.net/index.php/2008/07/22/wp-editorial-prince-william-a-year-later/

Corey Stewart said this in response to a question about whether the Board was going to repeal the Police Cameras and thus neuter the Duecaster Disaster Resolution. The Post was trying to say that he’s playing fast and loose with the truth. But in reality, he probably didn’t know at the time whether his dead body would be necessary.

If you watch the film Thursday, you’ll hear the question Stewart was answering when he said it. It was a few days before April 29th and Greg Letiecq was sitting right next to him!

  27. NotGregLetiecq

Actually, looking back at the Post editorial, they were saying that it was a flip-flop to say “over my dead body” and then vote with the majority in order to spin your dead body as a victory.

  28. Mando

“So easy to run circles around you, Mando. ( :”

If you like running in circles, break a leg.

    Otherwise, educate yourself:

Machismo…(macho-ism) is a collection of laws, norms, attitudes and characteristics of men whose finality, explicitly or implicitly, has been and is, is to produce, maintain and perpetuate the enslavement and submission of women on all levels: sexual, procreation, and in relation to work and love.

  29. Censored bybvbl

Mando, that definition isn’t too different from what was the norm for American society fifty years ago…or for segments of society right now.

  30. Elena

“Problem is, most nowadays are commited by illegal aliens from south of the border. It happens on a weekly basis. Also, cultural differences make it much more of an issue. If you are going to espouse such rhetoric, would you please back it up with scientific facts from unbiased organizations Mando. I doubt very highly you will find any credible source to back up your claims that most rapes are committed by illegal aliens. You all over the place with unsubstantiated claims. “Rapists who are born and raised in American know its deviant or they’re psychotic……..” Rape is always about violence and power, that is why it the tool of terror in most wars.

  31. Elena

BTW Mando, fifty years ago blacks were still being lynched in the south, had to ride in the back of the bus, and were kept from voting. America was also struggling with its own issues.

  32. NotGregLetiecq

Elena, it’s clear that Mando cannot be shown to understand the problems that almost all Americans have with obvious racism, particularly when it involves politics. I really don’t think there is hope for him/her. I don’t know if he/she is smart enough to be doing this on purpose, but often we end up having to give lessons on the pitfalls of bigotry when there are more important topics to discuss. I know I fall into the trap too. But I don’t think we really have to play defense on the “racism: good or bad?” question that seems to trip up Mando each day. The average American has already made up their minds about it.

The real question is how do Americans respond to disguised bigotry. Mando’s blatant variety is already a dying bread, despite the efforts of the KKK, FAIR and Gospel Greg.

    Mando,

Let me see if I understand what you have just said:

Problem is, most nowadays are commited by illegal aliens from south of the border. It happens on a weekly basis. Also, cultural differences make it much more of an issue. You are saying that most rape is commited by illegal aliens from latin American countries? You are also saying that rape has a different genesis in Latin American countries than it does in our country?

I rarely call people racists. If I have understood you correctly, that is one of the most racist, culturally biased statements I have ever heard anyone make. Additionally, it is totally unsubstantiated.

  37. NotGregLetiecq

Mando, the percentage of people who would not be disgusted by your tactics is shrinking by the day. It’s all time high was 2 percent on Nov. 6, 2007. You will never convert anyone to racism by way of cut-and-paste. And, the more you try, the more you make it look like everyone who ever raised a concern about illegal immigration is as racist as you are.

I don’t mind if you do that, because it makes it even less plausible for the Anti-immigrant Lobby to succeed. But it is unfair to a lot of people who’s concern about the issue might NOT be related to hysteria and bigotry. Michael and Emma should be telling you to shut up right about now.

Mando, go get the police department’s statistics on crime and the race or ethnicity of the perpetrators. Probably regardless of their race or ethnicity, the majority are probably on the lower economic/educational/ mentally-stable rung of the ladder.

I know why you guys bring these stories up. You want to say that these crimes wouldn’t have happened had these criminals not been here. So, here’s the big question for you. How are you going to guarantee that rapists/child molestors/thieves/murderers/ad infinitum are kept out? GUARANTEE. You can’t. The best you can rely on is good police work, the cooperation of victims, and the 287(g) program at the jail.

Mando, why do you call it an allegation? You are a racist if you believe anything you’ve posted today.

  40. Mando

“You are saying that most rape is commited by illegal aliens from latin American countries?”

No. Just in my neck of the woods. As is blatantly clear from weekly news articles.

“You are also saying that rape has a different genesis in Latin American countries than it does in our country?”

There’s a rape law in Mexico that if the perpetrator marries the victim, all is well. Does that not say anything?

    “Additionally, it is totally unsubstantiated.”

Did you follow the link? There’s lots of info there and the machismo mindset should be nothing new.

If all you’re going to do is call me a racist, I’m done here. You can go back to running in your circles.

The simple fact is, in my 37 years of life, I’ve never seen nor read of so much rape in my locale as I have in the past couple of years and the simple fact is most have been commited by illegal aliens from south of the border.

Who said anything about a revalation?

Mando you need to provide documentation if you are going to make unsubstantiated allegations without providing us with the data. Otherwise those of us who know better are just going to think you are blowing smoke.

Do you think you would find your ‘statistics’ true in Washington, DC? Seattle, WA? Bangor, Maine?

You are aware that your definition of ‘machismo’ is not the one recognized by most people who har that word?

  44. NotGregLetiecq

Sorry Chris, did you already explain on another thread?

  45. Chris

    NotGL.
I don’t believe I’ve ever explained my reasons on the blog. Now, if one knows me personally they might already know.

  46. Mando

“You are aware that your definition of ‘machismo’ is not the one recognized by most people who har that word?”

    That wasn’t my definition.

“Mando you need to provide documentation if you are going to make unsubstantiated allegations without providing us with the data. Otherwise those of us who know better are just going to think you are blowing smoke.

I am only speaking on personal experience in my neck of the woods. Like I previously said. One must only read the paper and watch the news. Within a 3 mile radius of my house, a 10 year old and a 4 year old were raped by an illegal alien within months of each other. If that isn’t a cause for concern, I don’t know what is.

Never did I say citizens do not rape. What I am saying is the degree and frequency of rape in my area is startling. The majority, commited by illegal aliens.

Yesterday, there was an attempted rape. Last week a 1 year old at a family event in Arlington was sexually penetrated by an object by a distant relative. The joggers in Alexandria and Arlington getting taken into the woods and raped.

To blindly say that these are racists statements is just that. Blind. Something is wrong here.

Virginia has recently had a successful campaign to combat the incidences of statutory rape within the latino community:

Isn’t She a Little Young and the ¡Gracias Papa! Campaigns

For nearly four years, the Virginia Department of Health has conducted a successful social marketing campaign aimed at men 18-29 to reduce statutory rape and sexual coercion of minors by older adults. (www.varapelaws.org)

The campaign’s message, “Isn’t She a Little Young? Sex with a Minor, Don’t Go There,” generated overwhelming state and national media coverage for its effort to enlist the aid of men when they see their buddies pursuing young girls.

The message appeared on billboards and on postcards that were distributed to bars, restaurants and retail establishments. The postcards were designed to be conversation starters among men who could also mail them to friends.

VDH’s latest effort to reduce statutory rape and the sexual coercion of teens by older adults reaches out to the Hispanic community to educate young Latinas about healthy dating relationships. The centerpiece is the fotonovela, “¡Gracias Papa!”

The campaign was prompted by calls from the community for resources on the topic for Hispanic readers and by the fact that the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy reports that the Hispanic teen birth rate increased 50 percent in Virginia between 1990 and 2003

What about the blond school teachers who always seem to be having sex with their 13-year-old students. Why isn’t Mando stereotyping about them? There are countries that don’t have the 18 years to have sex law. I think most of them don’t. Does that mean that every other country is filled with rapists and only America is the land of puritans?

You guys are losing your marbles here. Didn’t your talking points manual from FAIR tell you that you’re not supposed to make it about a particular race? What happened to legal vs. illegal? What happened to the chickens and the corn? Stick to your talking points, Hate Bunnies, you’re losing it!

That’s ironic that you keep bringing that up considering everything you say is parroting WHWN. You resort to robo responses and personal attacks when you have no argument.
