144 Thoughts to “9500Liberty Screening at McCoart Tonight / Powerful Words Defend Marty Nohe”

  1. NotGregLetiecq

I’m just giving you friendly advice, like many of us have tried to do. Overt racism doesn’t play well on this blog, nor does it speak well for the Anti-immigrant movement in general. You may be succeeding in offending people, but I’m not sure to what end. Why do you post anti-Latino stuff on threads that are about other things? It makes it seem like you are hyper focused on Latino culture, language, etc. and trying to act superior somehow as a white American person. I don’t get your point.

  2. Kudos to Marty Nohe for entering the stinking bathroom of BVBL. I hope he was wearing a clothespin.

Mr. Nohe has proven to be one of the best thinkers on the BOCS, examining weaknesses in the policy that could have harmed this county even more. The BOCS is lucky to have him, and so are we.

I am glad the movie is coming to McCoart, the very place these problems began. Perhaps the setting will help bring some people back to the moment and understand exactly what has happened.

BTW, “Over my dead body” was a quote by Stewart in the Washington Post.

  3. Mando seems to think machismo, rape, and violence are particular to Mexicans. Huh. Last I checked, those qualities were alive and well in every country, yes, even in WHITE people (whoever those are).

  4. DiversityGal

    Just cause,

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, neo-Nazis are still active in our area. There is a branch of the National Socialist Movement (neo-Nazi) right here in Manassas. I, for one, am not surprised by that…

  5. Moon-howler

    To Anon:

Here is the link to the VA Dept of Health page you were quoting from.

    http://www.vahealth.org/civp/sexualviolence/statutoryrape.asp

The article discusses the Dept of Health’s 4 year campaign aimed at young men ages 18-29 to reduce statutory rape and sexual coercion of minors by older adults.

“¡Gracias Papa!” has recently been added to reach out to the Hispanic community.

  6. Moon-howler

    Mando,

Actually I understand you were talking smack about this blog over on the dark screened place. I said I thought they had you confused with someone else whose named starts with an M.

I used to feel you were at least fair. I hope the person who told me about the smack-talk had the wrong person.

  7. DisappointedRepublican

Greg’s over-the-top comments just prove once again how out of touch with reality he is. Someone would be better off sitting him down and talking some sense into that man. Does he have any friends that perhaps could do an intervention before he completely self destructs? Or is it too late?

  8. NotGregLetiecq

    Oh Dear God,

So this whole racist smear by Anon wasn’t even factual? They had the program for four years to reduce statutory rape and then translated to Spanish recently to expand its reach and anon comes up with “Latinos are more likely to be rapists.”

    That. Is. Dis. Gusting.

  9. elvis

it’s a known fact that down in the southern countries they like them young, in fact may of the prostitutes on the streets of mexico city are well below what we would know the age of consent in our country to be, and it’s passively acceptable by the residents there.

so I guess you could blame this on their culture, it’s up to you to make that determination. Seeing as how many illegals who come here dont really want to assimilate, put two and two together and see what you get.

has nothing to do with machismo, but everything to do with culture. Rape is huge in mexico and the punishment light. Mexican authorities dont think rape is that big of a crime to prosecute so they dont pursue. offenders know this and they rape with impunity. is it no wonder they attempt the same here? Women are different here, they are not as “passive” as those in mexico. They fight back. in those countries women are “trained” to be subservient to men from a young age, unlike here. so in a nutshell it’s all about culture or lack thereof

  10. Elvis.

Bigotry gets a response, and responses you are getting. Beyond that, you are achieving nothing more than a permanent testament to the fact that the Anti-Immigrant Lobby is and always has been infected with racism through and through.

Now that your precious Resolution has been neutered and your Gospel Greg discredited and disgraced, the only people left in your crusade are pathetic sociopaths who would rather cling to racism and ignorance than simply admit that they were wrong.

And each time you demonstrate your bigotry, you help another of your former supporters decide they would rather make the opposite choice. They leave Help Save Manassas. And they admit they that were wrong.

    Keep it up!

  11. Red Dawn

    Elvis,
I see your point and you even cover culture shock it can even go further how other countries degrade women and can’t show their face, etc.
With that being said, if it is culture, it doesn’t mean that they are illegal. Tough one to swallow but it’s true. Have you ever seen the series Taboo on Discovery or TLC? It is a good show and makes you think. I would say that it all comes down to education and what is expected/assimilation.

  12. Moon-howler

Look around the world. Anywhere women are not empowered, the incidence of rape is higher and the punishment is lighter, if there is punishment at all.

You don’t have to go very far from home to see children prostituting themselves or, even more disgustingly, their parents prostituting them. It is sad and disgusting. All major cities have incidences of this horrifying social phenomena.

Its real hard to be a prostitute without a john. I will start pointing a finger at Latino countries when we get rid of all our homegrown scumbags. Meanwhile, I wouldn’t mind seeing rapists from any culture get the death penalty. Boo effin’ Hoo. They had a hard childhood. TS

  13. NotGregLetiecq

Yeah, Elvis, seriously. People are all the same. Skin color or culture does not make someone more or less likely to turn to a life of crime. You’re talking old school eugenics right now. You gotta stop!

Crime is not based on race, it happens when people are poor and don’t have opportunities or education. There are more white people in our prisons than any other race. Know why? There are more white people who are poor and lacking opportunities. It’s not because they’re white. So just cut it out.

It’s never too late for option number 2. Admit you’re wrong and rethink all of this.

  14. Moon-howler

    NGL,

Come on now, we have our own Arthur Jensen! Wow! Imagine that. Mr. Eugenics himself.

Now who was that other guy who felt your head and determined intelligence and proclivity towards crime?

  15. Red Dawn

    Moon-howler,

Just for clarification purposes, is TS any relation to HSS? 🙂

  16. Madam Mofo

Just in case everyone has forgotten. Posted today on blog of the red spots:

Advocator said on 5 Aug 2008 at 5:54 pm:

If Nohe and other supervisors were REALLY concerned about getting the most bang for the taxpayer’s buck, they’d revise the Rule of Law Resolution and require the County police to ask everyone they happen to come into contact with for verification of citizenship. That was the way the Resolution was originally written. That is the only way to avoid charges of racial profiling. No cameras needed. Eventually, ALL illegal aliens would be identified or they would leave PWC of their own accord. We would have 1/10 the ESOL students, crime would continue to plummet, we could jettison most of the translators we are now paying for, and we could go back to investing in infrastructure that pays dividends. But the slave masters (companies that hire the illegals) don’t want that. And their the people who contribute to Nohe’s (and others’) campaigns. If you want this County cleared out of Illegals, we’ll need replace Nohe, Principi, and anyone else who caters to their lobby. We can do that by putting up our own slate of HSM members in 2011 and saving up our pennies for campaing contributions. In the meantime, invest in guns and ammo. No one else is going to provide you protection from the invading hordes. Ask the poor mother in San Francisco who lost her husband and two sons to an AK-47-wielding Illegal Invader.

  17. NotGregLetiecq

Avocator sounds a lot like Duecaster Disaster. Well. Good to know he still wants everyone to grab their “guns and ammo” and go off the deep end.

I hope he was talking about the magazine.

  18. junkyard dog

Fortunately a saner group of people seem to live in the Coles and Woodbridge Magisterial Districts.

I don’t want my police department rounding up people. Does this make other people as uncomfortable as it makes me?

  19. Upon reflection it has dawned on me that Gospel Greg’s characteristically unfounded attack on Marty Nohe is a sign of good things to come.

Namely, it means these Liberty screening are having an impact, and TheGregNCorey Show, or at least Greg, is no longer trying to fool people into thinking the emasculation of the Immigration Resolution was a big victory for Greg, Corey, and the Anti-Immigrant Lobby.

With this baseless attack on Marty Nohe, Gospel Greg has switched from lying spinmaster mode to sore-loser-looking-for-someone-to-blame mode, which is usually the last stage of a cult leader’s rise and fall, right before he self-destructs and/or fades into obscurity.

Let’s hope it is a gentle and non-violent fade into obscurity for Gospel Greg. And let’s hope that our Chairman Corey Stewart, once freed of the manipulations and threats that have dogged him for the past year, will learn how to take the best interests of Prince William County into account, and even cooperate with his fellow Board members.

  20. Elvis

    NGL,

Take what back? never said hispanics committed more crime. I talked about culture, not skin color. go to america and you’ll find more white people in jail..duh!

of course that dynamic is shifting because the population is shifting, makes sense right? get more hispanics in the population and you’ll have more in prison right? your line of reasoning makes sense because it’s common sense.

I’m speaking from experience when I say that down south their culture accepts the crime of rape more so than they do there. Their culture is also acceptable of the extremely low age of consent as well (it’s 12 down there) doesnt that sound sick to you? does me, we all know a 12 year old is child. They bring that culture here and expect it to fly.

  21. Robb Pearson

One thing I encountered with alarming frequency when I was active in the “anti illegal immigration” effort was that a chord of racism is absolutely present. It is not so overt and obvious like you might find in other more reputed hate groups, but is rather complex and artfully decorated with a politically contrived subtlety where “rule of law” is the central pretense and main facade, behind which hides racial and cultural disdain for people of Latino appearance and name identity (i.e., if you look Latino and/or possess a Latin name, you are instantly sterotyped and tagged for deprecation).

One phrase I myself used last year in a news article was “immigrants import crime.” A sweepingly broad generalization if there ever was one (especially considering that the vast majority of immigrating people, no matter their legal status, import principles of hard work and diligence). Of course, I wasn’t speaking about immigrants from Australia, or Hungary, or Italy, or Russia, etc. I was talking about Central and South Americans, Latinos. And I allowed myself to be swayed into making the disgusting error that pervades the “anti-illegal immigration” lobby: highlighting the crimes of a few who posses a certain racial heritage and then passing broad negative value judgments upon the rest of that entire race.

Just as Elvis and Mando have done on this thread. Take these two examples:

    On 5 August 2008, 11:52, elvis stated:

attempted rape today in manassass. a hispanic male is the main suspect, wonder if he’ll turn out to be illegal? This is getting really old, seems as illegal alien crime is on the rise here and that’s just whats being reported.

By mere virtue of the alleged suspect being Hispanic, elvis makes the assumption that the suspect “may” be an “illegal immigrant”. Elvis then segways into “illegal alien crime is on the rise”, which really translates into “Hispanics are criminals”. Try as elvis may to dance the topic, his intent is obviously to infuse this single alleged crime issue into a larger (and false) issue of race.

Two of my speakers at the rally last year advanced this very same stereotype, that immigrants from Mexico and other Latin nations are criminals.

    Then there’s Mando’s folly:

    5 August 2008, 13:52, Mando stated:

Problem is, most nowadays are commited by illegal aliens from south of the border. …. With the rapists we’ve imported from south of the border it’s a case of un-checked desire and their right to take it from you as a man.

Mando couldn’t stop at “illegal aliens”. He absolutely had to add “south of the border”. He couldn’t help himself but to establish a racial distinction. (His biggest error, ironically though, is his lack of understanding of the nature of rape. He believes it’s about “un-checked desire”. Mando clearly fails to realize that rape isn’t an act of sex, it is an act of violence. It isn’t about desire, it is about power.)

For the likes of Elvis and Mando, and their ilk, their denial that racism is not a factor in their sentiments is patently unconvincing and fools only themselves. Having played the sly race tactic myself as a former “anti-illegal immigration” activist (and played it in very much a similar way as Elvis and Mando), and having encountered numerous others play it (and play it well), I know what it looks like and am intimately familiar with it.

And whether overt or subtle, we should be bold in identifying such racism for exactly what it is: evil.

  22. Chris

    WHWN,
Corey need to put the time and effort into his fellow Board members that he’s devoted to one individual. Remember, Corey is our Chairman at large. He represents ALL of us, and not a specific district. I still believe there’s a chance for Corey to do the right thing. Time will tell I suppose.

  23. Elvis, I don’t believe there is more acceptance of crime in Mexico. I believe when you have weak government and poverty, crime proliferates. This is one reason we need to work more with Mexican government to encourage strength and fairness, better their economy, and encourage trade agreements that work.

Marty Nohe has been a role model. Hear me out. His focus has been on the budget. Why? Because we don’t want a poor county with every drop of revenue poured into expensive policy. We don’t want ignorance. Simultaneously, he has endorsed neighborhood services and encouraged public safety to clean up communities in a non-discriminatory way. Why? Because we need to have good neighborhoods to have a viable economy, to give PWC a good name, and to increase overall satisfaction of residents. We need to bring in more work opportunities. Finally, Nohe supports the 287g program which helps keep real crime at bay.

If Mexico did the same, they would be in better shape and perhaps Mexicans would be happier in their own countries. Don’t get me wrong. One of my best friends is Mexican and I’ve been to Mexico. It is a beautiful country with beautiful people who deserve more whether they are here or there. What I am getting at is people need work, people need safety, and people need neighborhoods worth investing in. When you have all three components, towns, counties, states and countries can maintain a stable economy and peaceful society.

  24. Elena

    Robb Pearson, 6. August 2008, 8:47

Thank you for your very eloquent post Robb. Several threads back I tried to make the same correlation but was not nearly as well laid out as yours. I, along with many other citizens, have become increasingly alarmed at the overt racism, couched in “rule of law” that is becoming so pervasive in mainstream America. Your perspective is unique and invaluable Robb.

  25. TH

    Elvis,
What is your experience with “That culture” you talk about/ is it through the people you have met here? traveling? Reading? Living there?
I have worked south of the border many years and I don’t think it is an accepted fact that people accept crime there.
I think that Rob has posed serious questions to your arguments. Please answer those too.

  26. TWINAD

    TH,

Agreed. That inherent “stereotyping” that “culture” south of the border is not what it is here is ridiculous. Yes, crime is rampant in areas of Latin America, in many cases because law enforcement is not what it is here, but that does not mean that it is accepted. Many people come here to escape lawlessness that goes on there. But crime is rampant here, too, in socio economically challenged areas. It kind of goes along with the socio economic status of people rather than where they are from or what color their skin is. Not to say all poor people are criminals, as that is certainly not true. Religion and strong family values are part of the “culture” in Latin America, but that seems to be overlooked by the Anti immigration crowd. They prefer to focus on the rapists, which you will find in all colors and nationalities.

  27. Leila

Elvis, what do you mean by “down there” in terms of a 12 year old age of consent “down there”? Do you mean Mexico? In Mexico, age of consent can be as low as 12, but it depends on the particular Mexican state and different variables. There are also laws that can be invoked regarding sexual contact with a minor apart from age of consent. But In the DC metro area most Latinos are not from Mexico. The largest single group are Salvadoran. What’s the age of consent in El Salvador? 16 (though some sources say 18). Guatemala? 18.

But you have company. Mando also used a vague “south of the border” and claimed 12 across the board. It seems endemic on your side of the political fence to discuss Latinos (illegal and otherwise) in this area as typically Mexican. I even have read on BVBL the idea of just deporting all “illegals” to Mexico. This by people ostensibly obsessed with the rule of law, as though a Salvadoran, Guatemalan, etc. can be bussed to the Mexican border and deported.

In another post you suggested the United States has an age of consent, which it does not and never has. It has always been set by each state and varies. Most states are 16, some 17, and the rest 18, although one, South Carolina, is 14 for girls. And by the way, until just this year the age of consent in Canada was 14. It just changed in May. But in any case, in the US, since you can be married below the age of consent with parental permission in most states, it is clear the legal issue isn’t really sex with young teens, it is unmarried sex with young teens. With the agreement of a judge or parents, teenagers below the age of consent can be married and, obviously, have sex with adults who might otherwise be charged with statutory rape. It is arranged especially often when the girl is already pregnant.

Things are a lot more complex in state laws than the proverbial “15 will get you 20.” The whole thing is kind of arbitrary, but there you go.

  28. Elena

    Leila, 6. August 2008, 20:36

    Great post Leila!

  29. Elvis

    leila,

if you want to argue law let’s…I’ve been to law school. You? state statutes? Federal law? common law? whatever your poison let’s go….of course there is not age of consent for the whole united states, that would be federal and rape would not be a federal crime (it could, in certain circumstances) but generally it’s not. In general it’s around 17 depending on where you are, some are 16 of course and some are 14 as you mentioned (I think alabama or georgia is the lowest, cannot remember which)

mexico is generally 12, but higher and lower in some places. the gist is that it is lower there than it is here.

there have been a steady influx of mexican nationals here to the area for some time now, while the majority are salvadoran, that trend is quickly changing. I dont care what border they go to, as long as it’s over the border on the way home it’s good enough for me.

i love it when people speak lawyerly..I think we have a nancy lyall on our hands here. In fact I’ve felt laila was nancy for the longest time and we may have our first clue here.

  30. Elvis

oh…I’ll be there at mccoart tonight, look for me 🙂

  31. Elvis

and I wont be wearing this:

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26074035/

    someone already bought it.

  32. Chris

    Elvis,
Will you being the one in the flared studded pants sporting a lei?

  33. Chris

    Elvis,
Missed that post with the picture.

  34. Elena

It looks like I will have to miss tonight also. My littlest one is sick AND so is my awsome mom-in-law who normally watches the kids for me…..double whammie. Sorry I will miss the screening too.

  35. elvis

I’m actually heading over now, I’m not too far away. I had a rough choice between a suit and my polka dot speedo 🙂

  36. Elvis please write a review. I am dying to hear Ms. Pannell’s side of this story. But also your take on the film in particular. I will be respectful if you will be honest.

  37. Red Dawn

    WHWN,

I second your last comment. As Chris has stated, those who know her will know. I would just like to see the video as I have so much respect for Eric and Annabel and will testify MYSELF ( as I know Chris) if they are biased, etc as some want to SLANT/ACCUSE;)
Your comment to Elvis,”I will be respectful if you will be honest.” I would like to see what he says but damn if that isn’t one of those scenarios of which came first the chicken or the egg? :0 LOL

  38. Leila

Elvis, would that you were as entertaining as your namesake.

You are unbelievable, truly. It was you who implied the US as a country had an age of consent. I wasn’t speaking “lawyerly” as you put it. I am not the one who claims to work in a court house and offer vague “services.” It’s not legal speak, it’s elementary fact checking, something a reference librarian could do in his or her sleep.

Age of consent laws are hardly state secrets. The typical AOC here isn’t “about 17” as you erroneously say. For some reason you don’t actually read what people write. The average age of consent in the US is 16. Some go higher, some go lower, there are gap issues, but 16 is what the majority of states have chosen.

No, I’m sorry, it does matter that you consistently conflate other Latino groups with Mexicans. El Salvador has an age of consent that *conforms* with a majority of states in the US. It isn’t like Mexico in that regard. I don’t think AOCs are that relevant, but you and Mando have created quite the theory.

Plus you offer not a bit of evidence to suggest that Salvadorans are quickly on their way to losing their majority status. This pretty much goes along with your other assertions in other threads about how illegal immigrants contribute nothing to the American economy etc. etc. In fact it goes with virtually everything you say, which never appears to be based on any data other than Elvis said it. The factual King you are not.

Sorry to disappoint you. I am not Nancy Lyall. I live in Arlington County as many people here know, not PWC, Manassas or Manassas Park. My county board chairman is Walter Tejada and that doesn’t trouble me. I don’t agree with everything he or the board does, but on illegal immigrants, I am fine with the county’s policy and find it both humane and pragmatic.

I also personally think Mexicans Without Borders is a misguided group in many ways, at least from what I have read of it. The name alone is a huge misstep. I don’t believe they are doing their constituency any favors and Nancy Lyall may be largely responsible for MWB’s tactical errors. They aren’t what Greg L. suggests they are, with his man crush on Sub-Commandante Marcos, but MWB are definitely not helping. What troubles me about Lyall is that she doesn’t pay the price for all of MWB’s mistakes, the Latinos do, so she should show more responsibility and not fall into every prosaic leftist trap. Trust me, I’ve known some prosaic leftists. However the real point is that Elvis you can never manage to do anything but flail around and hit back by insult or ridiculous innuendo. Maybe that is why some suggest you are intoxicated, I don’t know. I’m inclined to think not, I’m inclined to think you are just naturally dazed, but at least that would provide an excuse.

  39. Elena

    Elvis,
I noticed you haven’t responded to Robb’s comment to you, what do you think about his summation?

  40. Elvis, are you still up typing up your review? Don’t worry, it’s not necessary to proof read. I never do. Just hit “submit comment” please.

  41. Moon-howler

The silence from the HSM board is deafening. Generally they scurry over here to take a swipe at someone here or to go ‘nanny nanny boo boo’ at 9500 Liberty. I noticed several of their esteemed members trooping through McCoart last night.

Now the lies have been uncovered and put out there for all to see, I would think they would at least try to defend their organization.

  42. Jorge Pollo

    Elvis-We are still waiting..

  43. Wish I could have been there, I have been itching to see the latest cut. Were their any new board members there? did they answer questions?

was everyone well behaved? I take it if a HSM member decided to start a knife fight I would have heard by now…

It sounds like HSM writes down a lot of little notes, but I never see them report anything, nor have I seen BVBL do a post on any of the recent screenings.

  44. Censored bybvbl

So…spill the beans, someone. What’s new? Are Eric and Annabel going to put up some of this recent footage?

  45. Elvis

just like any other retarded board meeting actually, I arrived at the tail end of the “screening” and I didnt see much as I was running a bit late. The rest of the evening was like the others, yawn!

leila, your legal analysis is equally retarded. as for my “vague” services, what I do and what I dont do are none of your business. I also hang out in hospitals too 🙂

as for drinking, not sure about the drinking..how much is too much? is there a limit? I have not found it!

is it that much of a problem to not want to have stinking illegal immigrants in their land? I wonder what the issue is here, if you want to live with people from another country then you should just move there right? From listening to you all it appears that HSM really might have something over there, I just might join! I just noticed the whole “tickle me elvis” thing, I’m only ticklish on a part (actually two parts) of my body, so if you want to tickle me ensure you do it there. and while you are down there you can kiss my a$$

as for jorge pollo, go eat some chicken!

    elvis the eternal troll

  46. Elvis

I dont like this place anymore. I think I like BVBL better. They seem to have more like minded people over there. I also think I’ll submit my application to join HSM too. They seem to have things well in hand over there. That GL guy seems to have things figured out. I’m also a huge stewart and stirrup fan! May they rule forever and let their subjects reap the rewards of their amazing leadership. I keep hoping the resolution get’s amped up a bit to ensure no illegal aliens set forth their feet in our lands. Viva la corey!!! viva la stirrup!! viva las vegas!!

  47. Elvis

watch for me over at BVBL today, I’ll make my first post..it’s gonna be a good one.

  48. NotGregLeteicq

Elvis, when you arrive in the smelly bathroom, can you send over a replacement? We love having someone to demonstrate how the Anti-immigrant Lobby is inextricably tied to hatred, self-deception, and open prejudice.

  49. Is it just me, or does there appear to be something very contridictory about Elvis?

I almost feel there is some sort of attempted defamation via pretexting going on here…like some person signing on under the name of their personal enemy and talking a bunch of Racist BS in an attempt to mar the character of some unwitting citizen.

(Either that or there is one really nasty booze hound, low-life, ambulance chasing scumbag lawyer in PWC who should have been disbarred years ago.)

  50. Elvis

    NGL,

No problem dude! I’ll make sure to do that! I’m reading BVBL right now and I’m seeing some posts from many with the same handle as those on this blog, interesting, very very interesting.

My parting question I’m posing is this: how long do you feel this blog will last after the illegal immigration thing is off the table and long forgotten? you think it will remain? you think elena and alanna will care about illegal immigrants after they are gone?

I’m feeling this blog was created because someone(s) lack of a cause to support, maybe trying to find something to do during the day if they were bored. if this is true very sad.
