NotGregLetiecq, 16. September 2008, 18:33:
Okay. So. Is anyone else watching this? The Supervisors voted 5 to 3 in favor of a motion by Frank Principi to add a discussion of Stirrup’s Duecaster appointment to the topics to discuss for closed session.
Those in favor: Principi, Caddigan, May, Jenkens, and Nohe.
Those opposed: Greg Letiecq’s Errand Boys, Covington
There had been a discussion about a DVD submitted into the record by Eric Byler, of the 9500Liberty You Tube channel, but I am unclear about whether or not they agreed at the time to watch it in closed session.
When the Board reconvened about 90 minutes later, the other appointments all passed unanimously except for Supervisor Nohe abstaining on the vote to confirm Supervisor May’s appointment, Kris Nohe (his wife) to the same Human Services committee for which Robert Duecaster was about to see a vote. When Chairman Stewart introduced the Duecaster appointment, there was a long discussion. Jenkins said he hadn’t had the opportunity to view the video embedded above.
So, he asked that the vote be delayed until the Board could see it privately.
Supervisor Stirrup responded that there was prejudice in the video (I believe he meant prejudice AGAINST Duecaster, ironically enough).
Supervisor Principi said, “I’m in the same boat” with Supervisor Jenkins, and that he was torn between following the usual procedure (my phrasing) and using his vote to express his concern about a man whose “reputation precedes him.”
Chairman Stewart said they should not watch the video before voting because 9500Liberty was “against the Board’s Resolution” (not exactly true but okay).
Supervisor Principi said we don’t need to watch someone else’s interpretation, we have our own footage from Channel 23’s coverage of Citizens’ Time. He said we can ask our communications department to edit the same three speeches together from their own footage. He repeated the request that the vote be delayed until such time as a Channel 23 version of the same events could be produced for the Board’s edification.
Supervisor Caddigan said she planned to vote against the appointment. She said she had not heard about any of this beforehand, and felt uncomfortable voting in the affirmative if she was being denied the opportunity to see the video. She said she was disturbed by some of the Duecaster quotes that were read to her at Citizens’ Time.
Supervisor Nohe said that while he was disturbed by the comments of Mr. Duecaster, which he called “deeply offensive to me,” he was going to vote yes out of respect to Supervisor Stirrup, not out of respect toward his appointment.
Chairman Stewart said that he doubted whether the Duecaster quotes were accurate. It seemed to me that it was in Stewart’s power to deny the Board an opportunity to see the DVD, and it was in his power to force a vote.
They then voted, as RobbPearson reported on the previous thread:
FOR Duecaster’s appointment:
Stewart
Nohe
Stirrup
Covington
May
AGAINST Duecaster’s appointment:
Principi
Jenkins
Caddigan
After the vote, Supervisor Jenkins said this is the first time he had ever been denied the opportunity to see information pertinent to a vote. Because he had been contacted by so many concerned citizens, he asked County Attorney Horton if, now that the DVD was in the public record, would it be made available to citizens. The answer was yes.
I don’t get it.
Stewart said he doubted whether the comments were really made. But the comments were waiting for him to watch in a video.
Principi’s option was the best option. And Jenkins is right, they should not be denied the opportunity to see information pertinent to a vote.
Elena, what do you think of the way they voted finally?
Way to go Duecaster! Congratulations!
Honestly ShellyB, I can understand them all, but am fairly confused with Marty. Maureen and John Jenkins were really incredible tonight, I have new found respect for the courage they showed. Frank was AWESOME when he suggested viewing the county’s OWN videos, as Duecaster was simply speaking at PWC citizen time. I’d like to believe that he has good reason to have voted the way he did. He said it was out of respect for John Stirrup, but personally, if John had the same respect for Marty and other board members, he never would have put them is this position to begin with.
I am going to overcome my technophobia and figure out what stupid plug in I need to see this.

Dear BOCS:
Your appointment of Robert Duecaster to the Human Services Task Force is disappointing considering his mistreatment of PWC residents, poor reputation, advocacy of violence and obvious prejudice. Since Mr. Stewart apparently does not believe our quotes at citizens’ time to be accurate, he might want to peruse the links I and others have sent him (that is, unless Mr. Letiecq has conveniently removed Advocator’s postings).
With the exception of Ms. Caddigan, Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Principi, this Board has once again shown preferential treatment to hate groups over rational discussion; and once again, you will leave us, the citizens, to deal with the negative results.
As one person put it, how will history judge you? I think the answer to that question is fairly clear, as is the direction this county is going in.

Thanks for putting it all in perspective, Elena.
I absolutely love Maureen Caddigan. She obviously doesn’t read this blog, or else she would not have been blindsided by this. But given that she was being forced to VOTE blind, she took a stand and she told us why.
I wonder what Marty Nohe’s wife is going to say to him now that she has to spend all that time with Duecaster! Thanks a lot, honey! You’re sleeping on the couch! (=
I also agree Principi had the best option. Although I can’t see how much different the channel 23 would be, except for farther away.
Anyway, now that my heart has stopped pounding, I’m feeling pretty good. It shows that the Board is willing to consider the ramifications of their votes in terms of public perception. This is big. Really really big. We have hope, ladies and gentlemen.
Elena,
IMHO Marty did what he did because he didn’t want to be the swing vote that blocked an important symbolic victory for the top republican in PWC. The republican party apparatus would have punished him for it.
Caddigan, on the other hand, had enough stones to stand up for her principles.
Marty is a worm.
Marty isn’t a worm. He has done other good things that very few others have had the courage to do. I believe he stated his reasons and I do not think his vote was a willing vote. I wish he had done differently but he didn’t, and he has been a good friend.
In the long run, the onus of this appointment falls squarely on John Stirrup. He knows of Mr. Duecaster’s extremism. He obviously sees nothing wrong with it. Gainesville has had many new, more enlightened people move in to that magisterial district. It will not longer be viewed as a given red jurisdiction. Mr. Stirrup will not be able to keep his elected position as easily as he did last time. In fact, he might be in for the fight of his life.
You don’t give the finger to your constituents and expect them to forget it at election time.
Alanna,
Thanks for speaking. Your new hair style looks really nice.
Dontcha hate it when tools like Marte Nohe prove they’re just another good ‘ole boy returning favors? Mackie, you give him WAY too much credit, or it’s just wishful thinking on your part.
Robb, you don’t understand enough about the history of the illegal immigration issue here. When large numbers of “immigrants” demonstrated here last year, waving their Mexican and Salvadorean flags and demanding rights they were not entitled to, they awakened and inflamed people and did a fantastic job of turning the tide against their cause. Do you think the 9500 Liberty Sign spread goodwill among the citizens of Manassas? No, Robb, again it irritated people and polarized them even more.
You threatened the BOCS with demonstrations if Duecaster is appointed. How do you suppose some stranger from Morristown is going to be received here, spreading his pseudo gospel and attacking his critics as racist? You do know what it is called when you do the same thing over and over and expect a different outcome, don’t you?
“Your appointment of Robert Duecaster to the Human Services Task Force is disappointing considering his mistreatment of PWC residents, poor reputation, advocacy of violence and obvious prejudice.”
Got any evidence?
I hear crickets – didn’t think so . . .
BTW – don’t you should spend more time in your children’s schools and with your children and less time on this blog and at the government building?
“BTW – don’t you should spend more time in your children’s schools and with your children and less time on this blog and at the government building?”
Lol…sez who? An unemployed nationalist bigot? What about your kids, how much time do you spend with them – that is when you’re not parading around in sheets….
Or is civic responsibility only something you good ole boys are entitled to?
*snicker* – LOSER
You Wish,
I believe there are two threads dedicated to Mr. Duecaster, the evidence is yours to easily research.
“When large numbers of “immigrants” demonstrated here last year, waving their Mexican and Salvadorean flags and demanding rights they were not entitled to, they awakened and inflamed people and did a fantastic job of turning the tide against their cause.”
And why, Emma, aren’t Hispanics entitled to rights? You don’t know if any of them were “illegals” or not. And I would say most of them were NOT because there were plenty of cops out there to keep the “illegals” home that day.
You Wish, I’ve got the evidence and so does the BOCS and some other very important folks who aren’t going to let this slide. It will take some time but we’ve got time.
Incidentally, how I spend my time is none of your concern and I’m not sure why you spend so much time being concerned about MY time. Go do something worthwhile with your own life instead of ruminating over mine. I really don’t deserve all the attention you give me.
Bubba –
Grow up. I don’t wear sheets. I am employed (unlike the regular posters on this blog) and currently, my child is asleep. I don’t post when my child is awake, because I spend time with my child, rather than on the internet.
KG and Elena – the “evidence” that you have is what he has posted on the internet, correct? Freedom of speech, anyone? or is that just for law breakers and Mr. Ferandez?
My life is very worthwhile and the fact that you are all riled up about being called out makes me think that I hit a raw nerve. Maybe it is true what they are saying about you on BVBL –
Caddigan, Jenkins, and Principi: You are three of most courageous individuals in the Commonwealth tonight.
This is precisely what the people of Prince William County needed. We have citizens standing up to bullies, and now we have Supervisors standing up to bullies. Next up: we get our government back.
This is different, by the way, from April 29th. On that occasion, our necks were on the line. The law suits would have buried us for decades. So, five Supervisors outsmarted Corey over the course of several months and changed the policy with the aid of this blog and the citizens who rallied around it. Here you had Principi all alone, probably, and Gospel Greg with his virtual reign of terror trying to bully the citizens into silence, and terrorize the Board into compliance.
Citizens: you got yourself a real debate. You got your elected officials on record stating how they feel about an issue that is central to our county’s future. How will we turn around the negative perception that is compounding our economic woes? This is a great start. I couldn’t have written it better.
Now, I am betting that May, Covington, and Nohe were every bit as offended by Duecaster’s racist outbursts (they were barred from seeing the video in a real chicken shit move by TheGregNCoreyShow, but there wasn’t a soul on that Board who didn’t remember at least the gist of it). The party bigwigs, who stupidly still think Corey is the future, were putting some big time pressure on May, Covington, and Nohe. As such, while I can’t say I admire their decision, I accept it.
Mackie, I understand your disappointment, but there is an up-side to this. Duecaster is a loose cannon that Stewart-Stirrup won’t be able to control. His zany paranoid ideas are NOT going to be taken seriously by the rest of the committee. Instead, they’ll only serve to further discredit Stewart and Stirrup. My prediction is that the “worms” as you call them will be able to have more impact on the direction of the county with Duecaster in the public eye than out of it.
So we get the best of both worlds. The bigotry parade continues to embarrass and discredit the extremists of the party, in particular Stewart and Stirrup, who are now the public face of ANOTHER publicity nightmare.
Each time they give themselves another black eye, their power to influence county policy wanes. Remember, the April 29th castration of the Immigration Resolution was achieved only weeks after Corey’s attack on Chief Deane blew up in his face.
BUT … and this is a big but, because of the courage of Caddigan, Jenkins, and Principi … it is NOT a black eye for Prince William County. Stewart and Stirrup get a black eye, but the county gets a B+ because three Supervisors got up of the mat, and stood toe to toe with Gospel Greg and his hysterics, and said, eh, that’s just Gospel Greg and his hysterics.
I agree about the Alanna hair. Awwww-sam!
WHWN, you’re pretty damn smart for a Republican.
“My life is very worthwhile and the fact that you are all riled up about being called out makes me think that I hit a raw nerve. Maybe it is true what they are saying about you on BVBL -”
Pray tell Greg, what are they saying…”they” being a truckload full of dominionist bigots?
I love how you gave yourself away…. Again, let me re-iterate, LOSER.
As someone who was on the fence of this whole issue – your loon and goon squad “activists” and their connections have swayed me to the other side. YOu should be ashamed of the people you support – Duecaster as an example, and the bigot squads you have employed to make your racist policies come to fruition. I smell a potential PR campaign….
Bubba –
Wrong again. I’ve never been to an HSM meeting, don’t know Greg, and happen to be the wrong gender to be Greg. A little paranoid, aren’t you?
I thought this was the “kinder, gentler” side of the debate. Guess not. Let’s see – you’ve managed to call people bigots, racists, and have insinuated that I belong to the KKK. Not really making a good case for being someone who is sane, are you?
As my hero KG says “Good day, Sir”
IN THE MEANTIME…I’ve emailed Stirrups office on more than one occasion asking for street lights to be put in along the corners of the Sudley Manor neighborhood. Especially at the corners where HS students stand in the dead winter/darknesss. Scott Chambers told me last year that a study would occur as to where the underground electrical cables lie and the study would take “several months” to complete. “Several months” have gone by, no word, no street lights, no nothing but a vote for Duecaster by Mr. Stirrup. I guess the safety of the children in my neighborhood is worth less to Stirrup, than a vote for a fool. One would think that the safety of his constituents’ children at a bus stop might actually be a priority.
I KNEW I was You Wish’s hero!! I knew it! She says it! And she gives me all this attention and she writes about me on the black screen.
Wow. When I see her, remind me to give her my autograph. 🙂
DB,
I guess they figure kids have been standing in the dark during the winter months for decades, and they can continue to do so. Which, I find completely unacceptable. As is the fact that each district is alotted like four street lights a year. I really don’t think people realize how very dark a subdivision with older trees is. I remember when you, Dolph, and I all started talking about this. We all contacted the Stirrup’s office regarding the issue. I doubt anyone of the supervisors would want their child or grandchild standing in the dark like the kids do around here. Oh, that’s right some of their kids attend private schools, and probably private schools outside of the county in which they reside and respresent.
Lafayette
When you make public statements you are held accountable for them. You Wish, no one is denying Mr. Duecaster’s right to say whatever he wants. He is still responsible for his speech and frankly, many people found his speech offensive.
Do you understand what free speech means and its potential limitations? It sounds to me that you just came here spoiling for a fight and are grasping at straws.
County people have the right to oppose those who do not represent their views or those who they feel cause embarrassment. No one made up false things about Mr. Duecaster. His own words illustrate his unsuitability for a position on the Strategic Task Force.
k-
I hope that autograph is on glossy 8X10 photo. 😉
Textbook example of a pyrrhic victory. This took its toll on the victor and the man who appointed him. Textbook.
MH,
That’s the problem. Some simply do not like seeing and hearing their words played back. Then they want to go and get all huffy when someone has “captured” their words/actions.
“Wrong again. I’ve never been to an HSM meeting, don’t know Greg, and happen to be the wrong gender to be Greg.”
LOL..sure thing there babe. That’s why you know so much about what “they” say.
“I thought this was the “kinder, gentler” side of the debate. Guess not. Let’s see – you’ve managed to call people bigots, racists, and have insinuated that I belong to the KKK. Not really making a good case for being someone who is sane, are you?”
I am just as kind as Duecaster and the people of HSM….you know, a compassionate conservative. What’s a matter, you can’t recognize what you spew forth? And I only speak for myself here – no one else. Others are being far too polite IMHO. I’ll call it for what it is. And I think it’s RICH you call me less than sane when you’re a follower of GL (but we all know you’re more than that).
Juturna,
Took a toll, eh? Now, their vote is of public record. For all to see with their own two eyes, and hear with their own two ears. Here’s some of what I told Censored earlier this evening..
This is just one appointment of some 80+ Committees within in the county. The county website states they have almost 600 volunteers for these various committees. One appointment is really small potatoes in the grand scheme of things.
Here’s a list of the Committees.
http://www.pwcgov.org/apps/bcc/
I still say who better than Duecaster to be stuck in a room full of therapists and social workers. Maybe its part of a “larger plan”!!!
–k-
I hope that autograph is on glossy 8X10 photo. —
Heee heee. I’m not photogenic. I’ll be giving her an autographed copy of my first book. It’s all about trying to live together without killing one another.
I’m glad Caddigan and Jenkins stepped up to the plate on this with Principi. They are the newest members of the “we found our balls” club. It’s a great team to join.
ShelleyB, Stewart actually said the purported comments made on a blog were not confirmed as being Mr. Duecaster’s, and that Mr. Duecaster did not take ownership of them at this point. He was not referring to the video, which of course, was heard at various citizens time by the BOCS already.
Nice try, but you are wrong.
Guess we should refresh the Board’s memory of the illegals demanding rights they are not entitled to in that long October ’07 BOCS Meeting. How about your illustrious translator who told the Board to go to hell, and had to be ushered out of the chambers?
The credibility of a lawless special-interest group of whiners is quite weak. Even with the help of socialist activists who are aligned with the radical Daily Kos.
Chris
..and one of 600 in how many years received this much attention. As was said today by one of the speakers – this man represents you? – he speaks for you?
His behavior is consistent and fairly out of control. What will the other appointees think and do?
When evil is intended only for itself it is verra verra visible to all.
“I wonder what Marty Nohe’s wife is going to say to him now that she has to spend all that time with Duecaster!”
Since you asked, I thought that I would tell you what I think about serving with Mr. Duecaster… I am looking forward to it.
Supervisors pick appointees that share their view for our county and its future. Up until this point, the link between Mr. Duecaster and Mr. Stirrup has been tenuous at best, based on rumor and innuendo. Mr. Stirrup has made it very clear tonight with this appointment that he and Mr. Duecaster share a common vision for Prince William County. On this committee, anything that Mr. Duecaster says will be the same as if Mr. Stirrup said it himself. That is unless Mr. Duecaster says something Mr. Stirrup disagrees with and the Gainesville Supervisor states that publicly. As we all know, Mr. Stirrup doesn’t say much at meetings, but I doubt that Mr. Duecaster will be as much of a shrinking violet. So get ready to hear what Mr. Stirrup really thinks about the future of Human Services in Prince William County. It should be pretty interesting.
Furthermore, I agree with Marty’s assessment that just because a Supervisor disagrees with the viewpoints of an appointee, it does not mean that other Supervisors should not be allowed to appoint that person to a board. We have 8 Supervisors for a reason. Clearly, Mr. Stirrup believes that the people of the Gainesville district share Mr. Duecaster’s extreme views. As abhorrent as some might find those sentiments, those views should be represented if they are the majority view in an area. Our form of government isn’t designed to protect the people that we agree with; it is designed to protect those with whom we disagree. The knife cuts both ways. Today it is Robert Duecaster, with whom you disagree. Tomorrow there might be a move to block the appointment of someone with whom you do agree.
If you disagree with this appointment, hold the person who made it responsible, Mr. Stirrup. Mr. Duecaster is his mouthpiece on this committee. Besides that, do you think that if Mr. Duecaster’s appointment had been overturned that Mr. Stirrup would have put on someone more sympathetic to your views? More than likely, perhaps out of resentment, he would have found someone even more extreme, but who simply hasn’t made statements to that effect publicly.
Finally, this is not a committee of one. Mr. Duecaster will be one voice among many. For those who don’t know me, I am not much of a shrinking violet myself. Plus, I know, either personally or through reputation, many of the other appointees to this committee and they are folks who won’t be intimidated by a gray haired man shaking his fist at them.
So in a nutshell, here is how I see it. Mr. Stirrup should be allowed to appoint those who best represent his views. The voters will be watching. Like the old saying goes, give them enough rope…
Kris Nohe
Yes, the real Kris Nohe who is Marty’s wife and is excited by the opportunity to serve with Mr. Duecaster (Mr. Stirrup’s representative)
That’s right Juturna. It’s evil.
Sometimes after a day like today, I just sink into the couch and want to cry. Like Elena, I wish we were fighting about development or something…..anything but the kind of evil we’re talking about. I don’t mean to be over-dramatic but it really takes a lot out of us, don’t you think? It makes you soul-weary.
Pax, once again, you have no idea who was “illegal” and who wasn’t in October. Like Emma, you want to deny Hispanics rights simply because they wave flags you don’t like.
Juturna, perhaps you should explain pyrrhic victory to those unfamiliar with the expression. While you are at it, give a local example of what you mean.
Emma, you stated (16. September 2008, 20:14):
(1) You’re wrong. Geography being essentially irrelevant (Morristown, Hazleton, Prince William County . . . it matters little), I understand the “illegal immigration issue” quite well, having once been firmly entrenched and vigorously active and outspoken on the side of those who are against “illegal immigration”.
(2) I’m more than well aware of how people can be “awakened and inflamed” when confronted with what they perceive as a tremendous disrespect to national sovereignty and the “rule of law”. For the very purpose of protesting against the perceived disrespect of “illegal aliens”, last year I organized and ran an immensely successful rally which was attended by hundreds who were “awakened and inflamed”.
You further stated:
Go back and re-read the text of the email I sent to the BOCS. Read it again very, very closely. I threatened no demonstrations. In fact, I “threatened” nothing. Threats, inasmuch as the “immigration issue” in PWC in concerned, are the purview of the likes of Greg Letiecq.
You further stated:
Again, re-read the text of the email I sent to the BOCS because you’ve clearly failed to accurately discern my intent.
Finally, what you must absolutely realize is that what happened today, and what has been happening in Prince William County over the past eighteen months, has absolutely nothing to do with immigration, “illegal” or otherwise.
We had strangers from FAIR that were listened to quite avidly. So why not Robb?
Oh that’s right. Some of the BOCS only listens to Hispanic, Muslim, Catholic, and Women haters. Guess that means they will ignore Robb, eh?
(No matter Robb. You’re righteous. Keep talking.)
It does make one weary. That’s how Mr Nohe looked to me tonight. Wonder what Mr May thought?
The only reason he was nominated was due to an agenda so we have a very transparent action.
On the bright side Mrs Barg was also named to this committee. She will not be intimidated by him!!
Wonder if those sessions are open meetings?
That is, haters of Hispanics, Muslims, Catholics, and Women…and Viet Nam Vets and African Americans who came in through Affirmative Action and anyone who who doesn’t agree with with Doo-Doo Caster, GL, HSM and FAIR.
Pax, you are certainly making our case easy. Why do you think everyone who spoke with an accent or used a translator on October 16 was undocumented? You seem very comfortable using the term ‘illegal’ and hispanic interchangeably.
In general, as much as Mr. Duecaster has bragged and been proud of his tough stance on 2nd amendment rights and on illegal immigration, you would think he would just man up and admit to Corey that he is the real ADVOCATOR.
You are giving Marty Nohe an undeserved free pass. Tonight’s performance was classic Marty, who is always trying to have it both ways. It really was gutless of him to vote in favor of this appointment. It looks doubly bad considering he clearly crafted some deal with Mike May to have his wife appointed. I’m ashamed to have ever supported Marty, will never do so again, and now firmly believe he needs to be replaced. He talks a big game, but that’s all it ends up being, talk. And what is the deal with Mike May? Is he in Letiecq’s pocket too, or is he simply Corey’s lapdog?
Chris
If you heard the strategic issues discussion today you heard the anticipation in the Chairmans voice related to reductions in human services.
That is the agenda. Strip it bare.
Glad there are some other hard hitters on this task force. If it’s public, we need to go. I know I will even if I have to suck it up to listen to Mr. D’s vile bile.
Man up!!?? THAT crowd??!! All of them together couldn’t man up once. I can’t laugh this hard this late…
I should have said illegals and their supporters, after all, the Rule of Law Resolution deals with illegal immigrants. That’s the point. And your side uses illegal and hispanic interchangeably, not me. There were others of hispanic descent who were clearly speaking in favor of the Resolution. But I guess you want to deny their rights to a safe neighborhood to live in, because you don’t agree with them.
There’s proof Advocator is Duecaster. We have it.
So he won’t fess up, eh? Well, he did a fine job of slamming Muslims and Vets under his own name. Byt even if we had not proof and he doesn’t admit who he is online (the cowardly liar), he’s already shown who and what he is. Like Stewart and Stirrup, Duecaster and GL can run but they can’t hide. There are too many people who are demanding open government and smart decisions.
