NotGregLetiecq, 16. September 2008, 18:33:
Okay. So. Is anyone else watching this? The Supervisors voted 5 to 3 in favor of a motion by Frank Principi to add a discussion of Stirrup’s Duecaster appointment to the topics to discuss for closed session.
Those in favor: Principi, Caddigan, May, Jenkens, and Nohe.
Those opposed: Greg Letiecq’s Errand Boys, Covington
There had been a discussion about a DVD submitted into the record by Eric Byler, of the 9500Liberty You Tube channel, but I am unclear about whether or not they agreed at the time to watch it in closed session.
When the Board reconvened about 90 minutes later, the other appointments all passed unanimously except for Supervisor Nohe abstaining on the vote to confirm Supervisor May’s appointment, Kris Nohe (his wife) to the same Human Services committee for which Robert Duecaster was about to see a vote. When Chairman Stewart introduced the Duecaster appointment, there was a long discussion. Jenkins said he hadn’t had the opportunity to view the video embedded above.
So, he asked that the vote be delayed until the Board could see it privately.
Supervisor Stirrup responded that there was prejudice in the video (I believe he meant prejudice AGAINST Duecaster, ironically enough).
Supervisor Principi said, “I’m in the same boat” with Supervisor Jenkins, and that he was torn between following the usual procedure (my phrasing) and using his vote to express his concern about a man whose “reputation precedes him.”
Chairman Stewart said they should not watch the video before voting because 9500Liberty was “against the Board’s Resolution” (not exactly true but okay).
Supervisor Principi said we don’t need to watch someone else’s interpretation, we have our own footage from Channel 23’s coverage of Citizens’ Time. He said we can ask our communications department to edit the same three speeches together from their own footage. He repeated the request that the vote be delayed until such time as a Channel 23 version of the same events could be produced for the Board’s edification.
Supervisor Caddigan said she planned to vote against the appointment. She said she had not heard about any of this beforehand, and felt uncomfortable voting in the affirmative if she was being denied the opportunity to see the video. She said she was disturbed by some of the Duecaster quotes that were read to her at Citizens’ Time.
Supervisor Nohe said that while he was disturbed by the comments of Mr. Duecaster, which he called “deeply offensive to me,” he was going to vote yes out of respect to Supervisor Stirrup, not out of respect toward his appointment.
Chairman Stewart said that he doubted whether the Duecaster quotes were accurate. It seemed to me that it was in Stewart’s power to deny the Board an opportunity to see the DVD, and it was in his power to force a vote.
They then voted, as RobbPearson reported on the previous thread:
FOR Duecaster’s appointment:
Stewart
Nohe
Stirrup
Covington
May
AGAINST Duecaster’s appointment:
Principi
Jenkins
Caddigan
After the vote, Supervisor Jenkins said this is the first time he had ever been denied the opportunity to see information pertinent to a vote. Because he had been contacted by so many concerned citizens, he asked County Attorney Horton if, now that the DVD was in the public record, would it be made available to citizens. The answer was yes.
Juturna,
Well, they started snipping away this year. And next year will be even worse. I think I great to place to start would be cut each of the supervisors’ discretionary funds back. The board should have to scale back on that fund. Oh, wait then those tatoos might not get removed. 😉 I hate that one.
Pax, I don’t support illegal immigration or unsafe neighborhoods, and this discussion has nothing to do with immigration. It has to do with a hateful, unstable man being put in a position that requires objectivity, wisdom, and smarts, a man being put in charge of MINORITIES and the POOR who need services but will never get them from man who can’t get over skin color, religion, gender or political beliefs.
Even Doo-Doo himself said, “This isn’t about illegal immigration.” He admits it’s not, so why don’t you?
Cut the Supervisors’ salaries in half. That should give us some money for the elderly.
BTW, is Doo-Doo getting paid for this position?
Good thought KG maybe all out in the open is best. Might prove interesting.
Might require a trip to DMV for new plates.
Principi was a champion. His name means Prince in Italian and he certainly shone like a warrior prince tonight. Dexterous and agile in defense, swift and aggressive in attack, he pounded Corey with blow after blow until Corey could barely form a coherent sentence.
Maureen Caddigan displayed her formidable raw moral courage. Vocal, decisive, and fearless when it came time to make stand, she really shined tonight.
Marty Nohe on the other hand…opened his mouth…and covered himself in his own excrement.
Juturna,
I’m in tears. I guess your dreaming of that jazzy sports car he’d talk about.
Chris – we have a go on that one! Remember Mr Crone and his family photos he wanted framed?! He claimed Stirrup used discretionary funds for frames for his office. Mr Crone said he wanted frames too.
Okay, I’m finally able to check-in. I actually returned to the McCoart building around quarter-til five and waited until the end for the results. It was a surreal experience, nobody was in the atrium except myself and the reporters from the Post, the Examiner, and the Manassas Journal Messenger/Potomac News when in walks Duecaster. At first I wasn’t sure if he had been called in to talk to the Supervisors or not be it quickly became apparent that he was a spectator like the rest of us. Some time later Greg came by and joined Duecaster in the long 2 hour wait. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that meeting.
Anyways, we were able to ‘win’ three nay votes and were in my opinion very effective in relaying our concerns to the Supervisors. These meetings with Duecaster will be open to the public and recorded and the other appointees are forewarned about him and his antics.
More to come tomorrow….
Mackie,
don’t forget John Jenkins, he was steadfast in his position regarding viewing the citizen time of Duecaster.
I agree 100% with your assessment of Maureen and Frank. They were both OUTSTANDING. Please send them all a thank you, I’m sure it will be appreciated.

Were other appointees there? There were about 35 or so today? Should have been a crowd?
To all . . .
DO NOT be discouraged at Duecaster’s appointment. In fact, I urge you to the very opposite: HAVE courage!
I know so many of you are fatigued. But recent occurrences — particularly the racist sentiments publicly expressed by Corey Stewart (see here) — have irreperably cracked the facade of the “anti-illegal immigration” movement in PWC, and have finally revealed the real evil that is at work in your community: racial bigotry. And that racial bigotry is the result, not of hatred, but of fear.
And you now have a ripe opportunity to expose the truth and boldly move forward with a new message: that bigotry, and the fear which feeds it, will no longer be tolerated in your community.
In all this regard, any conversation about “illegal immigration” is now moot and utterly irrelevant. It is a distraction from the real issue, and it is a distraction that must be resisted, disregarded, and absolutely rejected. Because it has thus far been the device used (consciously by some, unwittingly by others) by those predisposed to bigotry to justify that very bigotry, be it latent or be it obvious. The well-documented vile sentiments of Letiecq, Duecaster, and Stewart alone are evidence enough of that fact.
As to the fatigue I earlier mentioned, let me offer you a Biblical analogy: justice and righteousness often do not come to fruition until after you have been mocked, spit upon, betrayed, abandoned, whipped, degraded, and beaten, nor until you have worn that proverbial crown of thorns or have sufficiently borne the burdensome and tiresome weight of sacrifice for a cause worthy enough to sacrifice for.
Such is the very nature of seeking Oneness, and of advocating common humanity.
And finally, it’s your time.
Have courage.
Pax,
Even Duecaster admits this has nothing to do with illegal immigration, I quote, from his televised speech at citizen time:
“This issue is not really about immigration or illegality or legality, it’s not about economics, I’m going to tell you right now what it’s about. It’s about an invasion of this country. This county is being invaded no less than if hordes of armed people were coming across its border. This invasion is not armed, but they’ve got weapons. The weapons they use are their anchor babies.”
“Mark these words, we are going to repel this invasion, one way or another. You can part of that repulsion or be on the other side.”
Clearly Pax, even Duecaster admits that its about the brown people, organized outside the atrium at the vote in October.
So how many of the BOCS were actually sleeping whenever Mr. Duecaster gave his talks during Citizen Time? You’d think that some knew nothing of the man’s opinions. Talk about ignorance is bliss.
Hi Robb,
Once again, thank you for your words of encouragement. On one hand I am so impressed by the courage shown by Maureen, John Jenkins, and Frank. On the other hand, I am discouraged that Duecaster will sit on the committee. We will move on, move on to start talking about the hate that is growing in this county.
SA,
What are you thoughts on Robert Duecaster?
Yeah, it’s about the brown people. If they came from Canada it would be about the white people. So what’s your point?
Thank you for that Robb! I’m one who gets tired and needs pep talks, especially at the end of the day. Sometimes when I get like this, in my head, I re-run “Lord of the Rings.” Okay, so go through my house saying things like “Go back to the shadows! YOU SHALL NOT PASS!” Here’s another favorite: “No matter what comes through that door, you will stand your ground!”
Alanna, you obviously did today! Wow. Alone in the atrium with the evil ones. WOOT!!
My opinion of Mr. Duecaster is that he very vocally sums up, in other than PC terms, what is truely happening. It is indeed an invasion of sorts. What is the definition of an invasion anyway? Isn’t it when large numbers of people enter into a sovereign nation’s borders without that nation’s permission? Just because it has taken years would make it a SLOW invasion, but an invasion none the less. And as with most invasions it causes harm to the nation invaded. I’ll let the mortgage crisis speak for itself, as loans to illegals has played heavily in that role.
SA it’s more than that. It’s about Duecaster hating anyone who isn’t white. It’s about his threats to people who speak out and who are different from him. It’s about his love of violence, poor character. It’s about this county having no criteria for appointments other than cronyism. This isn’t about immigration. It’s about GL/HSM/RD/JS/CS trying to build their little white Nirvana in a county that gues what? ISN’T ALL WHITE OR ALL ANYTHING ELSE.
So SA, you think it’s okay for Duecaster to call Vietnam Vets “trash.” You think it’s okay for him to tell Mando to buy guns to threaten people with. You think it’s okay for him to rip apart Catholics and Muslims because of their beliefs and blame over-population on them while he calls them a bunch of terrorists. You think it’s okay for him to advocate national and international violence here and in Mexico.
I have all the quotes where he says this, so you tell me if you agree or not.
Maybe so, but it doesn’t mean that all he says isn’t true or not based on facts. Millions of people illegally in this country equates to the largest invasion of a single country in all history I would expect!
Wow. That’s all I can say about the people you choose to defend. Good luck with that. I’ll give your regards to all the Vietnam Vets and tell them you agree they are trash.
kgotthardt,
For your information I am a Vietnam Vet, and I take great offense with your extrapolating my reference to people coming from Latin American ghettos to the Americans who fought in that war. You owe me a huge apology! And if you don’t, then you yourself are trash of the lowest kind, and I don’t give a damn what anyone here thinks!
I was stuck in moderation for a while, so I think my comments got lost up above. Anyway, I wanted to let folks know that I answered personally the question “I wonder what Marty Nohe’s wife is going to say to him now that she has to spend all that time with Duecaster!”
If you are interested, and I’m not saying you should be, but if you are my comment is listed at 21:58.
Just be kind. 🙂
The Real Kris Nohe, wife to Marty Nohe
But Mr. Kopko, if you acknowledge that Mr. Duecaster’s views are racist and incite violence, how can you support him as a policy maker for this county, especially on a Human Services committee. Do we want our county services shaped by someone who hates many of the people we are supposed to serve?
Either he is your guy, or he isn’t your guy. At least you can admit we’re right on this one. Such a person should not be representing the county on policy issues of any kind. Certainly not law enforcement issues, where racial hatred is especially dangerous.
Be a man and admit you are not down with Duecaster.
I went up and grabbed the comment from the Real Kris Nohe so ya’ll wouldn’t have to search. Thanks for joining us Mrs. Nohe.
Well he’s on notice.
Big story is how COREY is a BIG FAT LIAR and how bvbl posters who know this are now silent on this issue. Anybody from BVBL going to address Stewart’s lies concerning not knowing that Advocator was Robert Duecaster?
K R I S
N O H E
R O C K S ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
By the way my post on 23:06 was in response to the post on 23:00. I wasn’t responding to the post in between at 23:03.
anonymous, do you think Corey was lying when he said he didn’t believe that a fine man like Rob Duecaster would really say such rotten things?
Or is this a feign ignorance sort of thing?
I didn’t say that I totally agree with the way Mr. Duecaster presents his views, and will admit that his temperament is a little radical, but I believe it comes from his deep passion for this great nation and its future. Like I said, there are true facts that he does bring to the discussion that may not be PC in nature, but has to be discussed. As long as there are those in the group to balance it I see no harm in allowing him in, because I’m sure there are those just as radical from the other point of view.
Kris,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I was really at a loss for how to take Marty’s vote of yes for Robert Duecaster in spite of his obvious disapproval for him. You are correct, at least with Duecaster, we know where we stand. I did appreciate that Marty clearly pointed out that he personally had heard Robert Duecaster spew his rhetoric from the podium. Thanks again for clarifying why Marty did what he did.
SA,
You are buying into the fear, an unsubstaniated fear. What is your reaction to the fact that of all the people arrested in this county in the past 6 months, ONLY 1.6% were not legal residents. Where is our invasion? Why are we all so at risk from brown faces?
do you lend any credibility to the findings of the Anti Defamation League?
Mrs. Kris Nohe,
Thanks for giving us your point of view. You certainly have your challenges cut out for you. I am sure you are up for the task.
I can assure you though, that Mr. Duecaster doesn’t represent all of the Gainesville District. Mr. Stirrup will get to feel the full impact of that statement in the near future. He will find it harder to be elected to his position as appointments such as these become better known to the public.
Again, thank you for taking the time to share your feelings with us. I appreciated Marty’s words tonight although I wish his vote had been different.
NGL,I would say that our esteemed chairman of the board is going to trip over his nose.
There were five speakers and three were from Gainesville District. Mr. Stirrup is going to have a lot of embarrassed and sick-to-the-stomach constituents to answer to when/if this becomes known.
Katherine, you did a wonderful job today, thank you. Thanks to everyone! Question for you:
I can’t find the “shovels and pitchforks” comment. Did it get taken down?
I had the impression he was lying there too. But then, how are you going to pin him down on just exactly HOW ignorant he is?
Chairman Stewart. Are you REALLY as ignorant as you claim to be?
Yes I am.
Conversation over. He wins.
Just like Alberto Gonzales, which reminds me. Alberto Gonzales is Hispanic, and he’s not only a law breaker, he’s a law breaker who was supposed to enforce the laws! And yet, we don’t see a certain Republican Operative Posing as a Citizen Advocacy Cult Leader using Alberto Gonzales as an blog post to denigrate the entire community. Gospel Greg has never once criticized The Greatest Law Breaker Of Color In American History!!!! And neither have any of his clones.
I guess Mr. Duecaster is right. For Help Save Manassas and the anti-immigrant lobby, and I quote: “It’s not about legality or illegality.”
What is it about then?
Second Alamo, thanks for being honest and forthcoming tonight. I see that as another good sign (=
SA, I think the drama of Mr. Duecaster’s comments tend to make him a larger than life caricature for the anti-immigration movement. While he has the right to say what he says, other people have the right to take offense and to hold him responsible for his speech. No one made any of this up. No one took words out of context. No one morphed his head on another body. No one lip-synched him.
He has made outrageous comments that shall live in infamy, both for him and for his sponsor, Mr. Stirrup.
Basically, everybody did what they had to do. Each player had a part and he or she played it well.
http://www.insidenova.com/isn/news/local/article/duecaster_appointed_to_county_task_force/21281/
It sounded like the reporter was trying to rehabilitate Duecaster. He was really very kind to him. I wonder if the reporter has ever seen the video, because he really didn’t use any sort of writing skill like imagery or whatever to do justice to what’s on that video. At least he told people where to see it. But then, what happens when there is a new thread, will they know to scroll down?
Wow. A lot happens in a day on this blog! That’s pretty amazing you got three votes and some strong words from two Nohe’s. You tilted the Board enough that either Nohe or May could have killed the nomination, when all experts said you couldn’t get more than one vote.
Kris Nohe,
Your desire to defend your husband notwithstanding, he was a pathetic cop out tonight.
I will hold everyone who voted for the appointment responsible because their votes made it a reality. Marty made his choice. Now his choice irretrievably belongs to him and he belongs to it.
No vote should be a rubber stamp. Otherwise, the process of voting is a fraud. This moronic notion of “I’m not going to challenge another supervisor’s nominee so that he doesn’t challenge my nominee” is quite simply, moral cowardice. I’m amazed that anyone would find this excuse acceptable and that the supervisors would openly admit that they think this way!!! When they say this, they are telling us the whole process of voting for appointees is a fraud and that we should just accept since that’s the way it’s always been!!!
Leaders are considered leaders because they show stones when the moment demands it. They vote according to their conscience, like Maureen Caddigan.
If Marty Nohe wishes to avoid accountability for his votes, he should do the honorable thing and resign. There is no honor in hiding behind ‘tradition’ or ‘polite protocol’ when the soul of your county is on the line.
The eyes of the nation are upon our county, whether we realize it or not, whether we want it or not. We almost won an important symbolic battle tonight. We almost got back a piece of our county’s soul. We made it right up to the crest of the hill before we were betrayed. Now the banner of Stirrup waves from that hill…and we lick our wounds.
Elena at 23:50,
Funny how the quotes of 15 to 20 million illegal aliens in this country some how gets trumped by the number of criminal arrests of illegals in PWC over the last 6 months. I surely hope that that 1.6% is a small fraction of those here illegally unless you’re inferring that all are criminals and therefor the number caught reflects the total population. Back to the roughly millions we all know are here, yes that could be considered an invasion in anyones book. What would you call it, a huge and extended tourist season?
Elena,
I see from the news article that you stood in front of the BOCS and the cameras and called those (majority of legal citizens of PWC) who supported the Resolution nativists. I personally don’t mind that moniker for to me it shows love of country, but you intend it as an insult. So why are you so upset when anyone else makes statements that aren’t politically correct as you did for all to hear?
I see that Katherine Gotthardt opened her big mouth. I have absolutely NO RESPECT for someone who makes false accusations about things I’ve stated. It’s one thing to disagree with me, but don’t fabricate words attributed to me as though I stated it. It’s obvious to me personally that she will say anything, no matter how far from the truth, to make her point. Most here use facts and statistics, although cherry picked, to support their viewpoint as we all do, but this person just makes things up. I still haven’t received an apology from her false accusation above at 23:09
SA,
You are clearly feeling very defensive, I would be too if I were a supporter of Greg and Duecaster. The reality is that Greg USED you people, with his hate and propoganda, and YOU fell for it.
SA if you don’t deny supporting Duecaster’s comments, then you must support them. Since you never answered my question, I believe you DO support them which is unfortunate and only serves to injure this county more than Stewart and Stirrup have already done. When I gather quotes, I cite my sources. You won’t get an apology from me when I’ve done nothing but search the web. You could have done the same thing, SA. So could Stewart and Stirrup. It’s not hard.
Too bad as well Stewart denies the existence of these comments, especially when I sent them to Wally Covington prior to the meeting, have been blogging about them, and came out openly telling people I would read them at the BOCS meeting. This makes YOU all look like a bunch of liars which I already know Stewart and Stirrup are.

My comments in the MJM this morning (see if they print them):
Robert Duecaster/Advocator isn’t pleased at all and we know this because of the way he threatens and intimidates people who speak out against his rhetoric. Duecaster goes after Catholics, Muslims, African Americans, women and yes, folks, veterans he calls “trash.”
THIS is the man who was appointed to plan the future of “Human Services.” THIS is many YOUR Chairman and VICE encouraged.
Be afraid. Be very afraid. And if the white-supremacist comments below offend you, speak out. This is the man who supposedly represents YOU.

Side Note: Too bad Mr. Walker didn’t include Robert Duecaster’s admitting he posts under “Advocator.” The interview at the BOCS meeting wasn’t quiet apparently. Why Walker omits this is curious.
My guess is SA is feeling the way he is because he is a Vietnam Vet. I think his feelings on this one have very little to do with Greg or Duecaster. If SA is who he consistently says he is, vintage wise, well…lets see how to put this….he is protecting sacred territory. I can’t explain it because I didn’t go to Nam but I recognize the feelings.
Sorry SA, I am trying but my efforts are falling flat.
I also am a member of Stirrup’s district and I would have LOVED to speak yesterday. However, I actually didn’t have big enough kahuna’s to speak in front of the board because I would have to use my real name, and we know what GL does when he finds out who supports the opposition to his bigotry. I’ve spoken before, but seeing as now a witch hunt is underway, just think what could be done if he had the information (name, address etc.) of a citizen married to an “illegal”! Frankly, Duecaster is a frightening specimen for a human being and I would have to be afraid of him, too.
So, in summary, Stirrup appointed a person to a HUMAN SERVICES task force, that can incite fear into some residents! Way to go, JS, nice job. You have served me well…not!
