NotGregLetiecq, 16. September 2008, 18:33:
Okay. So. Is anyone else watching this? The Supervisors voted 5 to 3 in favor of a motion by Frank Principi to add a discussion of Stirrup’s Duecaster appointment to the topics to discuss for closed session.
Those in favor: Principi, Caddigan, May, Jenkens, and Nohe.
Those opposed: Greg Letiecq’s Errand Boys, Covington
There had been a discussion about a DVD submitted into the record by Eric Byler, of the 9500Liberty You Tube channel, but I am unclear about whether or not they agreed at the time to watch it in closed session.
When the Board reconvened about 90 minutes later, the other appointments all passed unanimously except for Supervisor Nohe abstaining on the vote to confirm Supervisor May’s appointment, Kris Nohe (his wife) to the same Human Services committee for which Robert Duecaster was about to see a vote. When Chairman Stewart introduced the Duecaster appointment, there was a long discussion. Jenkins said he hadn’t had the opportunity to view the video embedded above.
So, he asked that the vote be delayed until the Board could see it privately.
Supervisor Stirrup responded that there was prejudice in the video (I believe he meant prejudice AGAINST Duecaster, ironically enough).
Supervisor Principi said, “I’m in the same boat” with Supervisor Jenkins, and that he was torn between following the usual procedure (my phrasing) and using his vote to express his concern about a man whose “reputation precedes him.”
Chairman Stewart said they should not watch the video before voting because 9500Liberty was “against the Board’s Resolution” (not exactly true but okay).
Supervisor Principi said we don’t need to watch someone else’s interpretation, we have our own footage from Channel 23’s coverage of Citizens’ Time. He said we can ask our communications department to edit the same three speeches together from their own footage. He repeated the request that the vote be delayed until such time as a Channel 23 version of the same events could be produced for the Board’s edification.
Supervisor Caddigan said she planned to vote against the appointment. She said she had not heard about any of this beforehand, and felt uncomfortable voting in the affirmative if she was being denied the opportunity to see the video. She said she was disturbed by some of the Duecaster quotes that were read to her at Citizens’ Time.
Supervisor Nohe said that while he was disturbed by the comments of Mr. Duecaster, which he called “deeply offensive to me,” he was going to vote yes out of respect to Supervisor Stirrup, not out of respect toward his appointment.
Chairman Stewart said that he doubted whether the Duecaster quotes were accurate. It seemed to me that it was in Stewart’s power to deny the Board an opportunity to see the DVD, and it was in his power to force a vote.
They then voted, as RobbPearson reported on the previous thread:
FOR Duecaster’s appointment:
Stewart
Nohe
Stirrup
Covington
May
AGAINST Duecaster’s appointment:
Principi
Jenkins
Caddigan
After the vote, Supervisor Jenkins said this is the first time he had ever been denied the opportunity to see information pertinent to a vote. Because he had been contacted by so many concerned citizens, he asked County Attorney Horton if, now that the DVD was in the public record, would it be made available to citizens. The answer was yes.
Ok, I should probably just shut the computer down and not go here, but I am going to try. I feel it is the right thing to do.
SA took a big step by conceding that Mr. D is not PC and also in saying he certainly didn’t agree with him on everything, while leaving the door open that he at least did agree with some things in content, although perhaps not as harshly as Mr. D expresses himself. That is SA’s right and ours to disagree with him if we choose.
There has been a huge extrapolation made….in taking a remark Mr. D made about some Vietnam vets…and to be honest I am not sure what he was talking about but I will defend Mr. D….he doesn’t feel that way about all Vietnam Vets….and somehow attributing it to how SA feels. That is a huge leap and SA is rightly insulted. I think we need to stick to issues.
Argue with SA about an issue at hand, don’t try to put words in his mouth that he has never expressed.
Now everyone can not speak to me. I’ll live. But Vietnam Vets are a sacred territory in my mind too. Sorry SA, Kgotthardt and anyone else. I have to do what I feel is right on this one.
TWINAD,
You no longer have to give your full address, just your district and name. Maybe, this helps a little and you will speak your thoughts next time.
Dear The Real Mrs. Nohe:
“As abhorrent as some might find those sentiments, those views should be represented if they are the majority view in an area.”
Glad to know mob rule has a place in PWC government, instead of having a place for decency and respect for all. I guess it explains why our national government is filled with special interest groups and such – instead of people who are out for the common good without ties to extremist organizations.
…
“Pax, I don’t support illegal immigration or unsafe neighborhoods, and this discussion has nothing to do with immigration. It has to do with a hateful, unstable man being put in a position that requires objectivity, wisdom, and smarts, a man being put in charge of MINORITIES and the POOR who need services but will never get them from man who can’t get over skin color, religion, gender or political beliefs.
Even Doo-Doo himself said, “This isn’t about illegal immigration.” He admits it’s not, so why don’t you?”
Well said KG, well said.
MH, because SA didn’t answer my question and went off on a tangent, I can only assume he agrees with the statement or walked into something he doesn’t really want to walk into. Had he said, “NO! I don’t agree with this!” I would not believe he supports Duecaster. It’s really that simple.
TWIN, I have worked with immigrants, low income folks, people from the “hood” and everyone else. I won’t let whole populations of people–immigrant or otherwise–be put in front of the hatred that Duecaster and his buds spout off. While I am afraid of Duecaster, GL and his clan, I won’t let that fear get in the way of my right to speak out against this trend in our government. We know these men hate when “big mouth” women speak out. Too damn bad. If it’s their right to be a bunch of hateful human beings who happen to have political connections, it is MY right to tell them they don’t belong in our government or our communities. This is a NO HATE ZONE. I don’t judge anyone who doesn’t go public. I just know why I have to.
Mrs. Noehe obviously does’t get out and talk to people much, does she?
Marty didn’t vote against Doo-Doo because his own wife is going to be on that task force. If he voted against Doo-Doo, someone could vote against his wife just as easily. Ah…cronyism. In this case, I also wonder since the task force will make recommendations to the BOCS if this isn’t a huge conflict of interests.
“he was going to vote yes out of respect to Supervisor Stirrup” – you do not vote yes to support another Sup – you vote what is right!
And this vote is not right, but we just have to remember it.
SA if you did indeed fight for this country, my hat off to you, Sir.
I don’t think Mr. D. should show you such disrespect. Too bad we can’t get in touch with some of the “trash” Mr. D. served with.
Mrs. Nohe : I’m glad you respect freedojm of speech and have faith in our democratic process. it’s nice that you care about your area and want to serve on ckmmittees.
But, I’ll never respect a word you say and think your appointment is far more improper than Duecaster’s. Your husband :
1. Was a proponent on liscencing businesses to illegal aliens
2. Would have personally benefitted from those (curtrenly illegal) businesses
That’s all I need to know. You can’t possibly represent me. You profit on the misery of others. How many flophouses on YOUR block, Mrs. Nohe?
Pat.Herve,
Welcome back. I too am disappointed in Marty’s vote . However, Marty has been a friend and I rely on him to see another side of this equation.
Right now, Mr. Duecaster is in a very public position with a long paper trail, as is Mr. Stirrup, because of said paper trail. All county meetings are open to the public. The 2 of them are going to be under a microscope from here on out. Not real comfortable for them, Great vision for us. Between them now in the public eye and Greg spilling his guts about everything on his blog, there are few secrets out there.
Rick,
You have had too much kool aid. You have listened to the dark master too long. Items 1 and 2 are both dark screenisms that have not been substantiated.
lay off that stuff Rick, it goes to your brain too fast. Drink margaritas instead.
I am disappointed in the appointment of RD to the Human Services Committee. I am even more disappointed that Mr. Nohe would vote yes for RD to serve. He voted yes out of respect for Mr. Stirrup? What the hell is that about? Why not vote for what is right? Why not vote your convictions? Mr. Nohe does not represent me nor am I a PW resident so maybe I should not comment but I feel compelled to say that I am sick of politicians voting based on special interests and not voting based on what is right or on conviction. It amost appears to be I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine. So, let’s stay tuned to see what happens with other issues.
RD seems to be a very unstable and angry man. I do not know him but I have heard him speak many times, as many of you have. On the committee he will be in a room full of social workers and therapists who often tend to be more level headed and who care about the basic needs for all human beings. Remember there will be more of them than he. Maybe this appointment will give him an opportunity to get some couch time to help him deal with what appears to be his uncontrollable anger management issues.
Second Alamo,
While driving home, I was thinking about your situation, being associated with HSM, and really, not just you, but so many other people that fell for the hate. I have, and will remain, committed to the premise that it is possible to have a discussion about immigration and NOT have it debased by extremism. That has,and will remain, my most vocal stand. That you, along with countless others, are duped into believing the rants of gospel Greg and Robert Duecaster, ultimately falls upon your shoulders. I find your connection to love of country and robert duecasters continued villification of latinos very misguided SA. Once again, I would rather associate my views with an organization like ADL than Help Save Manasssas.
http://www.insidenova.com/isn/news/opinion/letters_to_the_editor/article/marty_nohes_support_for_illegal_aliens/4805/
Supervisor Marty Nohe appears to support business licenses for illegal alien business owners.
He seems concerned that it’s burdensome to screen applicants for business licenses to ascertain whether they’re legally present in the United States.
Mr. Nohe also owns a lucrative appliance business and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber of Commerce also supports business licenses for illegal aliens.
Most illegal alien businesses in question are construction and home improvement enterprises where cheap illegal alien labor helps to construct and remodel the myriad of homes filled with appliances that Mr. Nohe sells and garners much of his income from.
The same could be said of similarly-related Chamber of Commerce businesses that depend on cheap illegal alien labor for their economic livelihood.
1.6 percent is significant, Second Alamo, not because it is any firm indication of the undocumented population, but because it IS a firm indication of the undocumented crime rate. It’s very small. If there was truly and “invasion” then the number should have been much higher. Or, if the other, even more offensive assumption that they used to justify the Resolution (that all undocumented people are “criminals,” or, that being here illegally makes you more likely to commit an actual crime), then that number should again have been much higher.
It’s just one of countless examples where the rhetoric and misinformation of the anti-immigrant lobby is proved wrong, not once but twice. Demographers, and those of us who believe in science, pointed out BEFORE the Resolution that undocumented immigrants commit crimes at a much lower rate because they are trying desperately to keep their noses clean. “Can’t be true,” said the Anti-immigrant Lobby. “Duecaster says they are desperate therefore criminals.”
That didn’t make any sense at the time. And it makes less sense now that it’s data. Not just a national trend applied locally and considered to be statistically likely to hold true. It’s a fact confirmed by police statistics. The kind of fact we should have looked into before we wasted 11 million dollars and ruined our reputation and damaged our local economy.
Stop calling moneyt spent on crime prevention a “waste”. I suppose you think we could save even more money if we did away with all policing entirely as well as disbanding any zoning enforcement. Think of the savings!
MH,
Duecaster was speaking to the issue of the Draft and Vietnam. His premise, from my interpretation, was that the draft allowed people, not necessarily interested in serving to fight in a war, to serve in the military. I am against the draft, however, I am sure there were MANY brave men who were drafted who fought admirably, and Duecaster, by insinuating that the draft brought in “trash” was, and is, totally unacceptable. He insults all veterans when, under his real name of Duecaster, expresses such a statement. I appreciate your words regarding Second Alamo, I agree with your sentiments regarding what he said about Duecaster.
Rick,
You offer up Robert Molleur to me as proof? Bwaaaaahahahahahaha
That guy is a joke. Have you heard him whining about having to pay his wife child support? Have you heard his crude remarks about Ms. Barg, comparing her to feminine products.
Why not quote humbert the happy humping hippo to me? I would have more respect for triple H than old RM.
Rick, I might not always agree with you but you are a smart guy. Don’t quote Molleur. It hurts the reputation.
Rick,
with a total ticket item of 25 million dollars to be spent over five years, during a budget crisis, with the premise that we are experiencing a “crime wave” due to “illegal immigration” and the end result is 1.6% of those arrested are not legal residents, THAT IS a collosal WASTE of my money!
Elena, I saw that remark and I don’t know what Duecaster meant by that. It seemed to be a snippet from a conversation with someone else. I chose to ignore that comment made by RD because I didn’t know the full story.
Mr. D’s paper trail is long enough that I could easily afford to ignore that one thing.
My ties to Vietnam are such that I tend to give the benefit of the doubt to almost anyone, including Mr. D.
Hey, off the subject at hand but for all you who do not go to the dark screen. I read this thread this morning which was posted on BVBL
MCCAIN ANNOUNCES AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS
By Greg L | 16 September 2008 | National Politics | 14 Comments
In a campaign ad that came out yesterday, John McCain announced in broad terms his agenda to grant amnesty for illegal aliens. I’d though that perhaps, he might eventually understand the depth of mistrust some of us have of him, and now that he clearly tastes what it’s like to get closer to conservatives might decide to go “all in” rather than fake being a conservative by playing identity politics with an arguably compelling pick for Vice President. But alas, now that he seems a little more comfortable with his prospects for victory, McCain pulls out the ethnic identity card as well and renews his efforts to pander to ethnic minorities, thinking that broad segments of those minorities care nothing for the rule of law.
So I’m done with Juan McAmnesty, just as he’s apparently done with the Republican platform that was hammered out only a couple of weeks ago. Maybe he’ll win, but there’s not a chance that he’ll do it with my vote.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-6cMr12KXc
The 1.6% figure is disturbing. You can see illegal immigrants openly flouting the law all over the area, not least of all loitering day laborers, and the police do little. Clearly there is a lack of leadership here. Gangs can sit and spray-paint graffiti at will, the police do little, and you basically point to their statistics which are a testament to police inefficiency as proof that there is no problem.
If we have enough money to pay Craig Gerhart $185,000 a year, we have enough money to start to enforce the law and protect our citizens.
Rick, before the rest of the posters jump down your throat, I’ll state this nicely.
It could be that you, like many of us in this diseased climate of hate and prejudice, are assuming each time you see a person with dark hair and dark skin that they are “probably in this country illegally.” I am not blaming you for this, it is happening to everyone, even the pro-immigrant posters on this blog have admitted to it. Heck, “probable cause” was in the Resolution at one point.
But now that the fever is breaking, we should begin to see more clearly. The color of a person’s skin, or their hair, or how well they speak English is NOT a determiner of someone’s documentation status. Right? Doesn’t the 1.6 percent prove that? Because if all the people we sometimes assume are “probably here in this country illegally” REALLY ARE in this country illegally, then we would see their crime rate much higher.
You see, in that 98.4 percent, the DOCUMENTED LEGAL people who committed crimes, we have a lot of people with brown skin and dark hair who don’t show up in the “illegal” 1.6 percent. Why?
They. Are. Legal.
There is potential that people are passing for legal with fake IDs … this may in fact be part of this.
Do you think the illegal population is really as low as 1.6%? Or that they really commit crimes at a substantially lower rate?
Could someone please post a link to where they’re getting this 1.6% figure from?
Elena said:
“I have, and will remain, committed to the premise that it is possible to have a discussion about immigration and NOT have it debased by extremism.”
Impossible until you recognize your own extremism.
“Do you think the illegal population is really as low as 1.6%? Or that they really commit crimes at a substantially lower rate?”
In PWC – many moved out. Mostly because of the foreclosure crisis, downturn of the economy (less construction), and admittedly some because of the resolution. I have no idea what percentage they are now of the PWC population, but I know from being out in my community there are far fewer than what there were.
As for their percentage of committing crimes, who knows.
Gang graffiti-It may or may not be real gang graffiti. Plus you have to catch them doing it. How does anyone know who dun it?
Loitering and tresspassing are those things that have to be initiated by the owner or property manager. If someone is loitering at 7-11, I hold the owner responsible. They need to be calling the cops and filing complaints.
I would prefer that law enforcement do something about real crime rather than just something that annoys those of the order of the red circle. I can’t help wondering if there haven’t been so many calls over seeing ‘illegals’ at the 7-11, were a real emergency to happen, how would law enforcement ever know the difference?
A woman was abducted at Springfield Mall by 2 Prince Williamites, NOT Hispanic, might I add. I want this kind of crime stopped. Lets not focus on the hombres at the 7-11 while ladies like Bobbie Bosworth are abducted and killed in car crashes and people are gunned down on Bacon Race Road. Where are our priorities?
There are way too many people trying to second-guess Chief Deane’s people and trying to call the shots.
Rick, I dont think that the 1.6% number reflects the illegal population. I think it reflects the percent of crime committers caught. Just my opinion. I actually have no idea.
Mando, the 1.6% figure came from the county presentation at the BOCS meeting not last night but the time before that. I am not sure where it is online.
I think almost everyone thinks the other guy is an extremist. Would you agree with this statement?
Rick,
They. Commit. Less. Crime.
You can always say one crime is one too many. But statistics in multiple studies show that immigrants commit less crime than the general population, regardless of status. They are trying to stay out of trouble just as you would if you feared that one little slip up could get you in trouble with authorities you don’t understand and don’t trust.
Can someone please answer the question of whether or not it’s a conflict of interest to have Mrs. Nohe making recommendations for the county to Mr. Nohe? As much as I think Mr. Nohe for his bravery in the past, I don’t think this should fly. For example, how do we know they aren’t talking about county business at bedtime? We don’t. Nope, this is just too close IMHO.
“statistics in multiple studies show that immigrants commit less crime than the general population”
And that their kids commit, by a large margin, more crime.
Mando & Rick,
Here’s the youtube clip of the BOS meeting with the figures of 1.6% of crime. They also talk about 48 having been rearrested in our county. This tells me ICE and the court system are letting them go and/or if deported they are returning quickly to our county. I also, wonder how many of those supposedly deported have been rearrested in other jurisidictions. How do you feel about those 48? That’s just UFB!
Please, watch the clip it has actual footage with Col. Meletis giving details on the job.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wChlNMk0oZY
How do I feel? Angry disgusted and let down with ICE.
How do I feel about the resolution? Very happy. Best money I ever spent.
Mrs. Nohe is a private citizen. These committees make recommendations only. I welcome her input.
Rick, I wouldn’t be so fast to blame ICE. They have no control over what happens after a certain point.
Don’t you want the most bang for your buck from the resolution? You aren’t getting it. Your resolution really doesn’t do all that much. What do you think it has gotten you? Remember, 287g is seperate from the resolution. No meals on wheels for Illegal old folks. No blue bird special bus for Illegal old folks. A criminal alien unit costing about 5 million over 5 years for 1.6% of the crime? Why cant the 287G program accomplish the same thing. What is it that the criminal alien unit really does?
One of the county employees GL is after on bvbl is a rabid Republican conservative. Very interesting. I wonder if he knows that.
OK,
I reviewed the presentation from last meeting and saw the magical 1.6% number. I can honestly say there is nothing in that presentation that speaks of a failure of the illegal immigration (sorry to offend you folks by including the word illegal, which you love to omit) resolution. I see what the Gainesville Times was talking about with decreased satisfaction, and I can only imagine how Chuckles Dean would spin the heck out of that, averse to doing his job as he is, but honestly, anyone who thinks the government is in the business of customer satisfaction is completely out of touch with reality. So from what the slides say, I see only success.
“how do we know they aren’t talking about county business at bedtime?”
ROFL! Such exciting pillow talk. “Oh baby! The VDoT Quarterly Report! Yes! You know how I love it. Now tell me again about the revenue sharing agreement for maintenance of county owned roads.”
Conspiracy complainers are so hilarious. Don’t the have anything better to do than cook up reasons to be outraged at people who don’t conform to their warped prejudices?
Rick,
ICE’s problems are indicative of a larger problem. Think for a minute, Chairman Stewart and Supervisor Stirrup requested Congressman Wolf to intervene and get ICE to pick-up their prisoners faster. In essence, what has happened is a revolving door, where ICE picks them up, brings them to Fairfax, processes them and then releases them. Of course, the worst of the worst are held but the rest are let go. How do you think this problem is going to get fixed? It’s going to require an overhaul. Do you think we are going to get an overhaul without making some compromises?
McCain has the right idea, secure the border, then deal with the people who are here in a fair fashion. I’m not saying everyone stays, but there has to be some realistic approach to this situation.
Both Nohes are a huge disappointment on this issue, and frankly, I think they’re playing on the general good nature of the people running this blog and no longer deserve our support. What if RD was a committed and public member of the KKK and Stirrup wanted to appoint him? Would Mr. and Mrs. Nohe be making the same arguments about respect for John Stirrup or about RD representing the sentiment of a segment of this community that should be heard. No, of course not, that would be ridiculous! Those arguments are valid when you disagree with someone’s position, but recognize it’s a close issue on the merits and want to give other viewpoints a hearing. But this was not a close issue. RD has repeatedly made public comments that are disgraceful, inflammatory, and yes, in some cases even racist. Marty is weak and unprincipled. He sold out the county to get his wife an appointment, and she is trying to sugarcoat the situation. I’m sorry, but Marty is not our friend.
Alanna: Before we begin extolling the virtues of McCain’s immigration “solution” anyone with employer-provided healthcare benefits should read this:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/16/opinion/16herbert.html?_r=2&ref=opinion&oref=slogin&oref=slogin
“These are changes that will set in motion nothing less than the dismantling of the employer-based coverage that protects most American families.
A study coming out Tuesday from scholars at Columbia, Harvard, Purdue and Michigan projects that 20 million Americans who have employment-based health insurance would lose it under the McCain plan. ”
Why? Because McCain wishes to tax benefits employees get from employers as earned income.
“The whole idea of the McCain plan is to get families out of employer-paid health coverage and into the health insurance marketplace, where naked competition is supposed to take care of all ills. (We’re seeing in the Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch fiascos just how well the unfettered marketplace has been working.)”
Yep – that’s right. So before anyone begins telling us all how McCain is the savior that America needs/wants just remember this when you get your explanation of benefits in the mail. How many of you could afford private health insurance – let alone qualify for it (anybody out there ever been sick???). So while he panders his “immigration solution” remeber this little detail that few are speaking about.
Peace out.
Slowpoke,
So, you see 48 illegal aliens returning to our county and being rearrested a “success”?
Or were you only speaking to the 1.6%? If you were only speaking to the 1.6%. That’s fine and I would agree that is a success. However, those 48 are a huge problem in my mind. How about you?
BTW-I find your name calling of our(unless you live in either of the two cities) Chief of Police “Chuckles” in very poor taste. imho. Why be so childish regarding such a serious issue?
News flash: even Gospel Greg now realizes it is not in his best economic interest to vote for Palin/McCain.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8syKJcoJBg
KG,
I am honestly not concerned about Kris Nohe being appointed on a commission. I think that she will serve well and deal with Duecaster appropriately. This isn’t national security after all 🙂
“McCain has the right idea, secure the border, then deal with the people who are here in a fair fashion.”
Alanna, that is nonsensical. The border cannot be “sealed” so long as the jobs magnet is on. Nor so long as Amnesty is a real hope. McCain is just bamboozling people, he obviously doesn’t want a real solution.
A more realistic approach is turn off the jobs magnet and then deal with those here. but when you turn off the jobs magnet they can’t work anymore, so they self-deport.
Therein is the crux of the whole matter. Should we as Americans turn off the jobs magnet before or after we grant an amnesty to everyone who snuck in here?
Most Americans would say, well gee, try turning the jobs magnet off before you undertake the drastic step of granting an amnesty, which will exacerbate the problem perhaps greatly.
Our elected elitist scumbag ruling class though does everything in their power to convince us that an amnesty should come first.
A “more realistic approach” is to shut down the jobs? To shut down the farm industry and several other crucial sectors of our economy when we are teetering on the edge of the second Great Depression????
I’m no fan of McCain. But the fact that he won’t cave in to the vast network of hate groups lobbying Washington (and Prince William County) to destroy everything American stands for, well, that’s a good thing.
The fact that he doesn’t understand the economy, and the fact that his dumb-ass idea to deregulate all the fat cat corporate industries like home mortgage banks and savings and loans over the past 26 years is NOT a good thing.
This is called SOCIALIZED RISK. The tax payers are once again forced to bail out these fat cat aristocrats who control the Republican party and forced this deregulation B.S. in order to maximize short term profits against the long term health of our economy.
This has all happened before. And McCain was a the center of it last time to.
Rick,
Honestly, I don’t get this whole turning off the job magnet. Isn’t job growth one of the indicators that we look at for proof of a strong and vibrant economy? I know I hear it every month in the news reports, this many jobs created or more recently this many jobs lost. Why can’t we have a system where visas are given on dependent on job growth, they could be temporary or permanent but reviewed annually if not more often?
Chris,
Sorry, I have no respect for Deane. I lost the last of what I had when he tried to tie having cameras in police cars, which should be there anyway, to the illegal immigration resolution. To me, it’s not a “they might sue us” issue, it’s an officer safety issue. The 48 coming back into the community is a failure at the national level. We’ve got Mexican military coming into our country and holding our Border agents hostage, for God’s sake, and our national government can’t get their hands from around their ankles to do anything about securing our borders. The only “failure” I see in the resolution is that it hasn’t been followed up with more tightening that save the taxpayers money, like making English the official language of PWC, and denying illegal aliens ALL county services. But I don’t’ see this failure the lefty screwballs are trumpeting.
