Several people asked for a debate thread. So here you go. Candidates were selected in alphabetical order–not preference of the one who set up the thread.

60 Thoughts to “The Great Debate: McCain v Obama”

  1. –I recommend Chris for the Prince William County Nobel Peace Prize actually. Shame on those who are sniping at her. They are moral cowards who lack her courage.–

Good nomination! I’d like Cindy B. and Chris to share the prize.

    kgotthardt,

GL did not show up. It was another meeting on how the study circles would run. You did not understand. I believe the actual study circles will begin sometime in October. It is not too late, however, for others to join so if you know anyone please let them know. We all agreed today that word of mouth would be the best way to get the word out. An Examiner reporter was there today so there may be an article soon.

Gaassssssppppp! The MSM was there? OMG! but the important question …..that which is only whispered about on THE OTHER {{{echo echo echo}}}…..was Eric there filming? Taking names? Kicking ass?

  4. I’ll have to see if I can do some of these. I’d like to for sure! I know the discussions held after the film series were very helpful–professional facilitators used to conflict resolution. Excellent forum! Not that this isn’t, Alanna and Elena, but you know. Blogs tend to encourage more rants than do live forums, at least with reasonable people 🙂

  5. What are study circles and where are they taking place?

  6. Marie

    Mackie,
Study Circles are voluntary, self-organizing groups of between 5-15 people who meet to explore a subject, often a critical social issue. Study Circles provide a safe environment where participants can feel free to express their ideas, share facts and discuss difficult and complex issues. Each meeting commonly lasts 2-3 hours and is directed by a facilitator whose role is to keep the dialog moving. Sometimes between meetings participants read materials they were given or asked to study a certain topic. Study Circles are also an educational tool that encourages people to formulate their own ideas about issues based on other views and factual information. Every participants view is respected.

This particular Study Circle is about immigration. There were people there today with many differing views. It was held today at the Pr Wm Campus of Geo Mason Univ. I am not sure where the other meetings will be held. For information to to

I would not expect GL to show up to a Study Circle.

He is very similar in stance to McCain – do not talk to your adversaries, and eventually, they will come around. What both of them fail to realize is that you need to have discussions with your adversaries to find common ground, and work from there.

  8. Chris

    Pat,
Well said. We must work together. I don’t what’s so hard to UNDERSTAND about common ground .

  9. It a tremendous insult to compare any patriotic American to Letiecq, let alone a war hero who singlehandedly derailed the Anti-Immigrant Movement. Letiecq and McCain agree on almost nothing, and where they differ McCain is a courageous leader and Letiecq is a coward propagandist.

  10. Moon-howler

Bullies never want to find common ground. Part of the thrill of the hunt is to overcome your adversary. If you strike common ground or compromise, that ruins all the fun.

Pat, I am glad to see you here on anti. WHWN is a big McCain supporter. Forgive his/her enthusiasm.
