My hope is that we are on a new course, and immigration reform will be a part of that new direction. This video was a culmination of a rally that I believe set the tone for Prince William County, for Virginia and for a nation. If you missed it, I strongly urge you to watch it, you too will get fired up to help create a new and positive direction for our country. We are ALL a part of the solution.
16 Thoughts to “Prince William County, we were “fired up” and “ready to go” to help change the direction of a nation!”

I remember JFK’s election. I remember the assasinations of JFK, RFK,and MLK. I marched in D.C. to get us out of Viet Nam. I remember sitting in front of an old 19 inch black and white TV to watch Man take his first step on the moon. Monday night’s rally along with last night’s election is perhaps the single most inspiring and influential event of my life.
Hands down, the most inspiring moments of my life. I’m just a little too young to remember the moments you mention, Ivan. So far, the defining moments have been 9/11 (the bad one) and 11/4/08 (the great one). Can hardly wait for 1/20/09!
Obviously you are not a Bush fan, as I am not…so perhaps you should take a look at this article:
http://www.findingdulcinea.com/news/politics/2008/November/Obama-Cabinet-Front-Runners-Include-Rahm-Emanuel.htm
Not the following quote:
“The Bush administration has also been more eager than any previous administration to help in the transition process.”
You may not find yourself getting that for which you voted.
Correction: Note
Ivan, Good 20th century highlights, for sure. I didn’t go to the Obama Rally but I sure did watch it on the live stream. The Clinton Inauguration will always be special to me. The highlight there was hearing Maya Angelou read her inaugural poem and it was beautiful. She had written it for the occassion.

In many respects, it is more appropriate today than it was back on January 20, 1993 when another new president, William Jefferson Clinton, was sworn in.

I hope you all will take the time to read the inaugural poem. I had forgotten its words. Thank you, Ivan, for reminding me of that special event.
Maybe I’ll just start screaming – fire it up, ready to go every morning perhaps then I can forgo my cup of morning joe?
I do like what he says about one voice being able to change the world.
Thanks MH, that was beautiful. I love Maya. I am so hopeful, so eager to be a part of all the possiblities that the future holds. It will require all of us, Barak Obama is one person, but collectively, we can all be a part of a better future.
Hey Alanna, “fire it up”………………”ready to go”………..”fire it up”………”ready to go” 🙂
I still need my coffee though!
Ivan, my life did not intersect with the RFK, JFK, or MLK. But seeing what Obama means to people and means to me, I am for the first time in my life understanding what people in my parents’ generation went through. They were afraid to believe in this movement for change because they didn’t want to have their hearts broken again.
Feeling such hope and pride as I do today, I can imagine what it must have been like to have the symbols of hope and pride taken away from the people of country during the 60’s. I can also understand why the darker forces saw those three men as threats to their power. RFK, JFK, and MLK, like Obama, threatened to bring to the people the power of self government. Once that happens, the war profiteers, aristocrats, and oil barons will be minorities with minority positions.
[…] sounded defeated in the comments that you made on TooConservative.net. I’d suggest watching what the Democrats were doing on Monday night, they obviously energized their electorate. Guess what, that was your job to do but nothing that […]
Ivan,
Those were the most inspiring and influential moments in my life as well. I am fired up and ready to go!!!
Fired up…ready to go! Fired Up….ready to go! Not a bad way to start the morning or in this case, checking the time, not a bad way to start the afternoon.
Alanna, I know that Obama wasn’t your candidate of choice, but you are a good sport to get fired up and ready to go!
NGL, I am not sure of your parents’ age but you might want to check the demographics on the Obama vote. I could swear I heard that he captured the senior vote and the young vote. The resistance was middle aged men.
Marie, I guess this makes us the unofficial “historians” of this blog.
Ivan, ahem. sitting right here.
Just kidding. You and Marie are doing a great job.
MH, You look too young to be a “geezer” like me.
Ivan, why thank you. You are living proof that chivalry is not dead.
