Let’s all kick back and enjoy the Superbowl 2009. Consider this an open thread.
Jennifer Hudson just did a beautiful job with the Stars Spangled Banner. The crew of the Hudson River plane caused a lump in my throat. so close to it being fatal…AND THEY SAVED EVERY LIFE!
I am gearing up for those commercials and for a Cardinals win!
Springsteen time. Where is Lucky Duck? I hope he enjoys hearing the Boss.
A couple funny commercials so far. It looks like the Red Birds need to get it in gear.
I’ve been watching, but not every second. Pretty exciting first half though! What an end to the half! I’m about to serve some HOT Buffalo Wings. The guys will be breaking a sweat shortly.
I agree…I liked the Cheetos commercial and the guy getting thrown out the window of the meeting for suggesting an end to Bud’s at meetings as a cost cutting measure. Ha.
That was funny. What is the name of the Cheeto Cheetah?
I don’t know from the Superbowl, but on principle I’m for the Steelers. I choose on the basis of rust belt industrial, or sadly, former industrial cities. Their fans need it more. I have a soft spot for Pittsburgh, its river, and its bridges.
MH
His name is CHESTER CHEETAH!!!
I love Arizona so much. Therefore, I will root for the team that is losing.
That’s right. I could not think of it! Chester Cheetah! King of the orange paws.
Larry Fitzgerald! What a run. He is fast!
UFB!!!! Pit 20 AZ 23
Less than 3 minutes to play.
Wow,
Arizona has played beautifully! This has been a game worth watching!
I was thrilled to see Jennifer Hudson performing. I believe this is her first appearence since the horrible murder of her mother, brother, and nephew.
It was AWESOME to see the flight crew from the “hudson river” honored!
Something OT but sports related. What do people think about this big controversy over Michael Phelps being photographed using a bong and, presumably, marijuana? Does it diminish his Olympic accomplishments?
From someone who has no idea what 1 or 20 or 30 down means.
This game was exciting. That last touchdown was beautiful. The way that man kept his feet on the ground and arched into the TD zone was AWESOME. It was, like. WOW!
I’ll probably dream about him tonight 🙂 Don’t know his name.
Leila,
There go his endorsements, huh? I don’t feel like it diminishes his Olympic accomplishments (it’s not an enhancer, that’s for sure!). It’s a shame for those who would look to him as a role model, though.
What a shame that he falls from grace and some pos like Brittanny Spears doesn’t really fall. Both are role models for kids and the bubble gum set. I would rather someone take a few bong hits than encourage millions of young girls to act and dress like sluts. In a perfect world, all people in a position of influencing others would be role models.
I agree slow, it was a great game. I watched it more than the commercials which overall, weren’t as spectacular this year, IMHO.
I was glad to see Jennifer Hudson also. What a gorgeous voice and to have lost so much, so tragically.
I’m so disappointed the Cardinals lost (It Was an INCOMPLETE PASS!!!) after the election Arizona deserved a Win.
I am happy the Rust Belt team won and not least because even I, a total football naif, know that Steelers’ fans are very intense. I just read that “in November 2007, the Steelers were ranked as the most popular sports franchise out of the 122 teams in the NHL, NBA, MLB and NFL, by a study from Turnkey Sports. Another study ranked Pittsburgh as having the highest percentage of female fans of their local football team, ranking twice as high as the average city.”
While in Arizona, well……here’s a frank quote on ESPN from a dedicated Cardinals’ fan at home in Arizona:
“But it’s been tough. There were times where there were literally, 25,000 to 35,000 fans in a stadium that holds 70,000, and 30 to 40 percent are wearing the other team’s jersey. I’m not sure if that will ever completely go away, but I’m starting to see a turn.”
I rest my case, even if my case is half empty because I didn’t watch the game.
Steelers have won too much. Let’s let someone else have a turn. PWC, Mr. Howler concurs with your assessment. Cardinals made a remarkable recovery.
Punxsatawney Phil claims (after the fact) that he accurately predicted the Steeler’s win. He also predicts 6 more weeks of winter. Then again he’s only said spring is around the corner 16 times in more than 100 years.
What a game!!! I was rooting for the Cardinals and they made a valiant effort. They have nothing to be ashamed. They played a great game. At least this year the Super Bowl was not boring.
Thanks Gainesville Res. See the latest post. Marie, I agree. I usually go watch other things but not this year.
This post will be moved from its position now because other things are more timely.
