To acknowledge that Jackson has received a coveted endorsement from the Virginia Education Association and to ignore this train wreck over on BVBL would be wrong. Letiecq’s recent discussion thread on bvbl.net, entitled – “Jeanette Rishell’s Bizarre Choice Of Used Condom Girl” is simply disgusting. And as a Republican, I find Letiecq’s behavior abhorrent. In my opinion, Letiecq’s behavior extends beyond simple petulance and clearly traverses the proverbial line that should not be crossed. And, while, I acknowledge that Jackson Miller has no control over Letiecq, he does have control over his own message. The only way you stop this kind of electioneering is for Miller to speak out in opposition. A footnote disclaimer on the bvbl website that Letiecq is not ‘part of the Miller campaign’ is not sufficiently acceptable. Granted, taking a stand takes moral fortitude because Miller could conceivably alienate some people. But Miller should ask himself, is it the right thing to do? In my opinion, Jackson Miller should take the opportunity to make a public statement so that it is known that he does not condone these tactics. John McCain denounced the Swift Boat attacks on John Kerry. And, I believe it is called for in this instance.

Jackson Miller & BVBL/Letiecq, apparantly you can’t have one without the other.
Perhaps Greg Letiecq is Jackson Miller’s “Reverend Wright”? Letiecq and his regulars are the embarrassment to the Republican Party and Conservatives everywhere that just “keeps on giving”.
I would call what’s going on there reprehensible, except … it’s really more just comical.
It might be upsetting to the young woman in question, who I don’t perceive as a threat to the American way, but really I hope she realizes that all Greg has on her is a picture of a used condom, a vote to leave open the possibility of porn in libraries (as it frequently is contained), and a picture of her riding a bull, as well as something she wrote in college, and is using it Don Quixote-style for a bizarre misogynystic campaign apparantly aimed at sexual purity. She comes off looking a lot better than other people in this.
Greg complains about her facebook page and then includes a thumbnail photo of a Jules Jordan anal porn movie, it seems to me that he’s clearly off his rocker, whatever else this says about him.
I guess I’ll stop posting over there while this trash goes on.
I guess on reflection I think that you’re right, Miller should have to comment on this.
I wish I hadn’t but I did look at the old blog just this once. If this is what it takes to get anyone to read Letiecq’s “stinking bathroom wall,” then let’s face it. Letiecq’s goose is cooked. He is a small, desperate man, pining away for the kind of attention he used to get when he was relevant.
This kind of sexist hatred he shows here is a sad reminder of the days before the current blog, when Letiecq had someone more powerful than Jackson Miller under his thumb as well. I prefer today’s PWC where Letiecq is neutered, the Resolution is neutered, and ho-hum Miller is back to being Letiecq’s favorite politician under thumb. I guess we can at least thank Miller for getting Letiecq of Corey Stewart.
I hold Greg responsible for Greg. Obviously this is the year of bullying young women rather than 80 year old public servants running for office.
Make no mistake, it is all about bullying.
Some people just have to bully others. They do not change. He has several bully minions also. They pride themselves on bullying as much as he does.
Bullying is exactly what Greg is doing. I also find it comical that he priggishly castigates these subjects (very often women) but his prurient interest shines through in his obsessive exposure of their “crimes”.
Yo, Del. Miller, show a bit of class and let it be known this hasn’t your stamp of approval.
Jackson Miller is scum. HAs been and will continue to be. I look forward to his coming round again this year pandering for votes, so I can give him an earful – AGAIN.
While I don’t agree with what Greg did in this particular case it is odd people are so upset about it. People need to be a little smarter in what they put out there on their facebook/myspace pages. Employers these days use them as part of their background checks. Most companies require you to list these types of sites on your application now.
If this woman has these picture out there for everyone to see then it’s public knowledge. I don’t care if your a man or woman, if you work in politics you should know better and expect people to find things like this and expose them (right or wrong). Stupid mistake on her part and poor vetting by Ms. Richell.
And you think it’s appropriate for Greg L. to label her “Used Condom Girl”?
Did you just read what I wrote? No, I said that I don’t agree with what Greg did.
Let me rephrase then … you think it’s odd that people might be upset that he labels her “used condom girl”?
No, I disagree with the name calling, period. What I think is odd is that people would be upset that he exposed these pictures and background of someone in the political scene when they are available to the general public.
How stupid can someone be Rick? This type of stuff is politics 101. Not only was it stupid of this person to put these pics out there for everyone to see but it’s just as stupid of Ms. Richell to not have found them first and had her remove them.
The attack on the campaign manager was cowardly and inexcusable. From a political point of view, it was incredibly stupid thing to do and can only hurt Jackson Miller. Both threads on BVBL overstepped the bounds of good taste. Both threads took a shred of truth and wove a story that bore little resemblance to the truth.
Every last one of the ‘conclusions’ drawn was supposition. Politics of personal destruction really has no winners. Greg needs to remember this.
The young woman is someone’s daughter. Hopefully no one will ever attack one of Greg’s children in such a disrespectful way. He needs to think of how he would feel about one of his being vilified by some political hack next time he takes poison pen in hand.
Moon, the young woman is someones daughter? Where was this when Palin’s kids were being attacked? Those attacks were okay with most here because she ‘paraded’ them on the campaign (even on the under age ones). This woman is the campaign manager for crying out loud.
I agree that what Greg did was in poor taste and I don’t agree with it but this woman should have known something like this was coming and cleaned up what she put out there for everyone to see.
“Politics of personal destruction really has no winners. Greg needs to remember this.” – I think people on both sites should be reminded of that.
hello, what were the pictures and articles really about? Perhaps some jackass wanted to classify Michelangelo’s David as pornography. Those titles weren’t titles suggested by the staffer. You are looking at filtered propaganda, not what was really on her face book.
The article about the lesbian experience did not appear to be autobiographical. It was commentary about long distance relationships. She wrote for the school newspaper. She was also on the debate team. There is probably all sorts of good fuel for Greg there. The strongest debater usually take positions opposite their real beliefs.
Greg sucked you right in if you believe all that crap.
I don’t approve of what was done to Palin’s children and have said so several times. I also think she was naive thinking she could drag them out in the spotlight of national politics and not have that happen. (I am sad to say). No other president or presidential candidate has been given a pass on that. People are vicious.
The only exception I would make would be about the older girl who somehow got dragged out with a 2 month old baby to talk to others about abstainence. Now that was stupid and tantamount to painting a bulls eye on her forehead.
As for both ‘sides’: Attacking issues is not the same as attacking personal life. My conscience is clear as far as attacking people in public on non-issues.
“put these pics out there for everyone”
the picture of the condom? or of the bull ride?
I wonder what is more reprehensible: Attacking an obviously immature young woman for some ill-advised Facebook content, or trying to back Jackson Miller (after congratulating him for the VEA endorsement) into a corner so you can stick it to some local blogger.
I’ll have to get back to you on this one. Too many people are getting used here.
What’s wrong with the bull ride? That actually is very hard to do from what I have heard.
The condom? If I traveling and found that in my bathroom, I would have taken a picture and trotted it right down the the manager. I might have also gotten home, posted it and said don’t stay at the Moscow Ritz or wherever she was. You better believe I photgraphed the huge spider in the bathtube in Somewhere, Utah.
I don’t know what’s worse, a used condom or a dead rat. Weren’t there some of those pictures on the picture board at the PW Fair a few years ago? If you have a point to make, so what.
Not to be Gospel-Moon but…whatever happened to ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?’ That is a main belief of every major religion in the world.
Emma, I posted the VEA endorsement for Jackson Miller. I was NOT trying to back him in a corner. If you read above, I said I hold Greg responsible for Greg. I believe his actions can only hurt Jackson Miller. Do you disagree with that?
Big deal. It’s called “opposition research.” You dig up dirt on the other candidate, and if you can’t convince the press to run with it, you pass it along to whoever will. Clearly, this nonsense could not have been peddled to the Washington Times or Manassas Journal Messenger, so it went to Letiecq.
I can understand why some of the female posters are upset because this does have a perverted sexual predator feel to it. I feel bad for the young woman targeted for sexual humiliation. But as M-H explains quite adeptly, neither of the photos are anything to be ashamed of.
All in all, this is really no more outrageous than Letiecq’s usual lies, usual defamation, and usual viciousness. Who among us did not already know Letiecq is a sociopath? Is it that surprising he is also a sexually perverse bully? If you find such things disgusting, then don’t go to his website.
Does anyone remember some sports reporter a couple of years back? (rolling eyes) There was much hee hawing and male giggling over that.
I have to agree with Alanna on this one, it is disgusting low ball politics, not that Jackson Miller needs to do anything but ignore GL in this case. Miller does not set GLs agenda, only GL does.
This is where I’ve often commented on Greg’s blog that his Christian extreme right agenda is oppressive and outside of the actual scriptures of the Bible.
Greg is an obligation keeper Christian, not a Liberator Christian as the Christian community itself defines those who follow old testament levitican laws and get into politics to try to enforce those laws on all others, and those who understand that Christ was a liberator from oppressive levitican laws, called the second covenant, and and those who truely understand the 2nd covenant, only focus on their personal relationship with God as the only judge and jury of the behavior of how they should treat each other (with compassion and understanding that God has different rules for different people based on that personal relationship, all of which transgressions are forgiven, but not all approved of. Under the second covenant their is only one unforgiven law, the law of unbelief. Under this same law, there is only one way into heaven and it is not through works as all other religions teach (or specifically traditional catholics teach in praying the rosary for example, or behavior toward sex and dating), it is only through belief, and certainly not through how many people’s personal sex lives you can oppress and condemn as if you are acting on God’s behalf.
Christians who never understand (or even read) the entire Bible and who often only listen to and let their minister and his staff determine where their hatred of others is to go (There is scripture warning to beware the greatest oppression will come from within the church), are most often evangelical christians who go to “modern charasmatic or contemporary” styles of worship, mostly influenced by wordly emotional experiences and music. Conservative Christians typically oppose these styles of worship as they are less influenced by culture and oppression of others (except for the Catholic church that still clings more to doctrine and guilt to drive belief), than from people with independent minds who simply read the bible, focus only on themselves, and focus only on building a personal relationship with God.
As a Liberator Christian, I can easily recognize where Greg is getting his “evangelical hypocrisy” and “guidance” from and I can tell you it is not from a deep understanding of scripture, but more from the political rantings of political pastors in these charimatic and contemporary churches sweeping the baby boom and X-Gen generations and causing them to pay less attention to thoier own personal relationship with God and to their own behavior alone and more to create hatred and to politically oppress others who are not exacly like the people in your own church.
Such beliefs running rampant in the nation, are really a return to jewish levitican law of the old testament of the same oppressive type Christ denounced the pharisee’s for, and Greg is bitten by the same anger and hatred toward others, and cannot recognize it for he has missed those scripture that tell him how and why.
So Michael, are you sure you are agreeing with Alanna and not me? 😉
Moon, “do unto others” is a Buddhist concept more than a Christian concept. The proper Christian concept is “let God judge others, pay attention to your own faults, and focus on your own relationship with God, rather than try to tell others how to behave”. Turn the other cheek, is more relavent but in proper context you need to understand what Christ actually meant by it as an insult “now that you have offended me, I turn the other cheek so you can slap me with the least honorable part of your body, the left hand that wipes your butt”.
This is why Christ is he were here today would likely support seperation of church and state, just like he did in his time to remove the concept of religion from the government of people’s lives by the government using levitican law, and make the determination of judgment only the realm of God, emphasizing “agape” love and removing hatred toward others as an institution of the jewish state. Christ opposed the state more often than not, and supported the individual (a form of Democracy in his time). This is why in knowledgeable Christian circles he is known as a Liberator.
I’m agreeing with both of you… putting condoms up as a political issue is not something Christ would ever do.
Greg needs to walk the walk…
As a woman and a mother, I do feel that BVBL did cross the line with the crudeness of the posts. The lewd comments made by some on BVBL were wrong too. However, I know Jackson Miller and the comments being made about his character here are not much better. (Yes, I’m addressing you “Censored bybvbl” July 27 at 16:10 and “Not Me, Bubba” July 27 at 16:24). And Alanna, questioning the “moral fortitude” of Delegate Miller, who is a veteran police officer who has served the community for quite some time, is insulting to his character as well. I seriously doubt that the lack of a public condemnation of Greg Letique by Jackson Miller discounts the years of public service that Mr. Miller has given to the community both as an elected official and as a law enforcement officer. A law enforcement officer must have strong fortitude (moral, emotional, and physical) to do that job.
I posted a comment here and it disappeared a few minutes ago. Am hoping it is a technical glitch. Here it is again.
As a woman and a mother I feel BVBL crossed the line with the crude posts. The lewd comments made by some on BVBL were wrong too. However some of the comments being made here are no better (“Censored bybvbl” at 16:10 and “Not Me Bubba” at 16:24). Alanna, questioning Delegate Miller’s moral fortitude is not appropriate here. I know Jackson Miller. In addition to being a delegate, he has been a law enforcement officer for many years and is a person of strong character. I seriously doubt that the lack of a public denouncement of Greg L. by Jackson Miller discounts Del. Miller’s many years of public service. It takes strong fortitude (moral, emotional, and physical) to be a law enforcement officer. Also, did it cross anyone’s mind how much publicity it would give Greg L. and his blog if Del. Miller did make a public announcement? Did it not occur to anyone that perhaps the best course of action would be to not give any more attention to the crude posts BVBL put up?
Sorry, it must’ve been a technical glitch!
Jackson Miller does not have to “take a stand” on this issue, Alanna, however much you want to see him and others publicly repudiate Greg Letiecq. Greg does not work for Miller, and your attempt to use this honorable man to stick it to Greg is shameful.
IWK,
Not saying he doesn’t have the courage to do it. Just saying it will take some to deal with this issue.
It’s really to Mr. Miller’s benefit to distance himself from this type of behavior. Simply, he either condones it or he doesn’t. And asking him to publicly disapprove of it, isn’t meant to ‘insult his character’.
I think he (Jackson Miller) does not have to publically refute anything. I agree the issue is disgusting low ball politics. But the issue is directly with Greg and his radical Christian actions that betray the rest of the Christian community. I approve of some of the things Greg does (wanting to stop illegal immigration and enforce the law in order to have a safe and prosperous society) and some I highly disapprove of (his political misrepresentations and exaggerations). I base that decision on his individual actions on each, and do not hate the man “cart blanc”. Your issue Alanna does not need to be with Jackson Miller, but take it up personally with Greg. Post your dissapproval on his blog, face to face. That is what I do, and that is why I post what I do about his behavior. People need to be held accountable for their own behavior, not the behavior or presence of others. This is why I also post what I do about Chief Dean’s behavior to not enforce “illegal” immigrant law. It is his job and duty to the community as a law enforcement officer to do so, and because he does not uphold immigration law, and arrest illegal people, I hold him personally accountable for his own decisions in this matter.
Michael, you are kidding??? How long do you think Alanna’s remarks would last on the dark screen?
Chief Deane upholds the law. Michael, apparently you are not too familiar with what local law enforcement can and cannot do or you would not make such statements. Also, have you heard the news lately? It sounds like Sheriff Joe has been told to cool his jets a bit.
No, Miller doesn’t have to do a thing about Letiecq. If he thinks it is good for his reelection chances to condone attacks like this on behalf of his campaign, then it’s a gamble he should take.
There are a lot of people beginning to wonder if Miller is secretly taking pleasure in these seedy misogynistic attacks that Letiecq perpetrates. If he thinks it helps his campaign, that’s one thing. But if he is enjoying causing this young woman pain, that’s another thing entirely. The word sadistic comes to mind as well as sexually perverted. And when Letiecq and his followers seem to relish attacking young women in this lurid sexual way, it just doesn’t look good.
What would Miller have to lose by making a public statement that this kind of sexually perverted sadism is beneath him?
Shelly, maybe because he hasn’t done anything to make us think he was behind any of it. I really think you are letiecquing the situation to imply that he would get some sort of pleasure from this. You know, the old let’s find a shred of truth and build a story around it.
I don’t believe in transferring one person’s behavior on to another. For all we know, the situation has been addressed.
I feel very badly for the young woman. Let’s not have 2 victims here. One is enough.
Beat up Letiecq all you want for this, but Miller is just being what he is: a politician. Miller will never throw Letiecq under the bus. He is much too useful to him. By being silent, he can keep the attacks coming and leave the question of cooperation between the campaign and the blog to the voters to decide.
Shelly, I agree there is sexual deviance here, but it is Letiecq who put his name to the blog; not Miller.
I think Greg has an obligation to bring out the truth about candidates. I say, good job.
Okay. M-H. All you have to do is say I am falling into Gospel Greg style lunacy and I am duly chastised. I just feel like Greg and Jackson are both smart guys politically. Greg just wants to win elections and maybe goes a little overboard due to personal hatred of certain figures: Chief Deane, Jeanette, Latino people, gays, Muslims, etc.
Someone tell me I’m wrong here: If Jackson Miller decided that Letiecq’s perverted attacks on women in our community was hurting his reelection chances, don’t you think he could convince Greg to stop? Doesn’t Greg’ desire for Republicans to win trump all? Or if not Republicans trumping all, Jackson trumps all. Greg has attacked anyone that has ever stood in Jackson’s way, Democrat OR Republican, from the start of Jackson’s career. Greg is more loyal to Jackson than anyone. Therefore, if this kind of sexist hatred toward women and unfounded attacks on anything related to Jeanette continues, doesn’t that mean that Jackson hasn’t asked Greg to stop because he thinks it helps his campaign?
Anyway, I apologize for implying that Jackson Miller might take the same sadistic pleasure out of these attacks that Greg does.
Jackson Miller doesn’t need Greg L. to win this fall’s election.
In fact, the reverse is true – Greg needs to stay on Jackson’s
bandwagon to maintain an image of connection to power.
The last time Jackson really needed G.L.’s help was to get the GOP
nomination in a very close mass meeting vote nearly five
years ago.
(FYI – Greg has a huge ego and loves attention – good or bad – and
will throw a blog fit, if needed, to get it.)
I cannot speak for anyone else Shelly. I do not see the 2 people you mentioned joined at the hip.
I don’t know who Greg is loyal to, if anyone. I am not sure that is something that can be measured.
I believe in being fair and not making assumptions. Absolutely nothing makes me think that Delegate Miller would have any part of what has gone on against Jeanette’s campaign manager. Unless I see or hear otherwise from someone in the know, I am going to assume the man is innocent of any wrong-doing.
Let me ask you a question, Shelly. How comfortable to you think local Republicans were with the attack on Chief Deane? That attack was far more public than the rantings of a local blogger. Do you think if that situation could have had someone put a lid on it, everyone would have breathed a sigh of relief?
I would imagine the situation has been addressed, confidentially, and that we simply will not be privy to any parts of that conversation. Jackson Miller is certainly not the first politician who has had a constituent misbehave on his behalf. I doubt if he will be the last.
My internet has been down for some time, maybe that was a good thing given the nature of what has been written lately.
Jackson Miller is NOT responsible for what Greg does, no matter how disgusting and foul. However, if I were Delegate Miller, I would distance myself publicy from such horrible behavior. Some here are saying, why should he, it isn’t his blog. However, I recall Delegate Miller being more than willing to attend an HSM meeting and align himself with Greg publicy. Why is publicly distancing himself any different? It is simply the inverse of what he did last election.
As far as Emma suggesting that anti has behaved in the same “reprehensible” manner as Greg, there is simply NO way to credibly make that comparison. Alanna has not gone after Delegate Miller in way that remotely resembles Greg and his bullying of just about anyone that disagrees with him. Why ,in today’s world, should it not be possible to give credit where credit is due, i.e, the VEA endorsement, and yet wonder why Delegate Miller will not condemn outrageous acts of character assasination? Both stories arose around the same time. We do our best to keep the debate going on what we believe are issues that people may want to comment on.
I have been told I live as an idealist, not a realist, but I will not deviate from my belief that one must maintain their moral compass, no matter what the consequences. You know, that “golden rule” silliness. If Delegate Miller was willing to form a relationship with Greg for election purposes, he should be just as willing to disown him for ethical and moral reasons, that simple in my book.
Fascinating use of language, M-H. Care to define that word? Here’s an example:
Mc·Car·thy·ism (m-kärth-ee-izm)
NOUN:
1. The practice of publicizing accusations of political disloyalty or subversion with insufficient regard to evidence.
2. The use of unfair investigatory or accusatory methods in order to suppress opposition.
ETYMOLOGY:
After McCarthy , Joseph Raymond
American Heritage Dictionary
Cindy, it seems we have just found ourselves a new set of synonyms. It was purely an accident on my part. 😉
I agree, Poor Richard. Far from needing Greg Letiecq to win this election, a continuation of these onslaughts with sexually perverse undertones is one of the few scenarios under which he might lose.
Cindy, that definition of McCarthyism sounds uncannily familiar and sadly appropriate for what Mr. Letiecq and his minions have perpetrated. History has shown such tactics work for a short time, but ultimately lead to discreditably and disgrace. Letiecq arrived at his end game long ago. It was a bad call for Miller to saddle up with him years ago. Not much he can do about that now.
Understand that the worst thing for O’Reilly, Limbaugh, Coulter,
Hannity,Palin or G.L. is not that you disagree or even loath them,
but that you ignore them. They feed on attention.
Poor Richard is absolutely correct. That is exactly what this whole thing is about. G.L. is just trying to push himself back into the limelight, and if it’s at Jackson Miller’s expence, so be it. The bloom has been off of his flower for a long time.
