Rick, what is “Orphan” about? Tell us a little more please.
I will not spil the final story but basically it’s a horror/suspense where a family adopts a young orphan girl who is from Russia but is in an American orphanage as the family that adopted her died in a house fire. The girl is bad, hurts other children, and is possibly evil on a “Damien”-style scale.
The film’s preview makes it clear she’s probably bad, but what’s more interesting than that is that she’s (possibly) a flat-out full-fledged psycho at a precocious age. The film is pretty great, in the opinion of this cinephile, despite the horrible advertising campaign.
The girl in the lead role is tremendous. Definitely the most amazing performance by a child actor that I remember seeing. I’m astonished to find out that she’s only 12 years old.
Is it on video or in the theater?
Hey, don’t bash loud music late at night, irritating their neighbors, that’s how I met my husband! HE was the one blasting.
