This guy out of Florida, Jim Greer, led the charge. His kids got to see President Obama’s address to students. Many of ours didn’t. Consider this one a dis-info-mercial.
And now this guy has to get in the act. When will it end! He must fear socialism also.
Which dude is the joke and which isn’t? I can’t tell.

Thanks to my brother in Loudoun County for his Hitler contribution.

’nuff said!!
Excellent. Well-done, (to quote Emma)
And there is something to be said for the message for sure.
Thanks for posting, Slowpoke.
I hope everyone watches Slowpoke’s video posting. It isn’t a joke and makes some good points.
He was speechless without his teleprompter. };-)
Just playing. That’s a good vid.
Calling Obama a socialist is a subterfuge for not liking a black president and finding an epithet to cloak one’s racism.
Well, it’s not about the speech, but health care is the big issue now (I never considered the school speech an issue anyway…it was a good speech). And I thought we were all doing youtube vids 🙂
Slow, you just want to watch cartoons!
I would like to hear what Obama has to say about it. Congress has had its turn.
The Hitler “contribution” is a little too close to the truth.
How did they get Dick Cheney to play the part of Hitler?
Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “opinions are like ***holes”
You got it!!! If I could just get all you lefties to repeat that all day long to everyone you meet!
So what was wrong with what the man from Florida said exactly?
And I am embarrassed for you for posting this seccond accusing everyone that had an issue with what even the White House retracted as a Nazi. Good Bye
Umm, Slow, who led the charge in medicare prescription drug care that cost almost 8 billion dollars and not the 4 billion we were lied into believing. Maybe that doesn’t count as socialism cause it was under Bush Jr and put money in the pockets of the drug companies. I guess if we had, instead implemented a program that BARGAINED for prices like the Veterans Adminstration, THAT would have fallen under socialism. I get confused about what is and what is NOT socialism these days!
Oh, and healthcare should not be a commodity it should be a part of our human existance as a civilized society. For those who have health care you better hope NOTHING ever happens to put you in the situation of LOSING your coverage, like losing your job for instance. COBRA only covers for so long and when that runs out, well, I guess you’ll just have to pray it doesn’t because you find a job with coverage before it does run out.
Masthead: “A reasonable voice for Prince William County politics, and the immigration debate”.
Bwahahahaha!
Oh! That (my above) comment appeared, but my other(s) didn’t.
Fishy. Done. Bye.
RingDang, you have a remark caught up in spam. I cannot remove it. Tried. Try reposting. I don’t know why yours went in there. Usually what will trigger it is 3 http links. That wasn’t the case this time.
Let me know if you want me to go capture it, log on as you and repost it.
Joe, it was a joke. I am embarrassed for the people you see on video at tea parties waving the signs with Obama in a Hitler mustache. I am embarrassed for the woman in the Barney Frank video with her comparisons of Obama and Hitler.
On the other hand, I can’t do a darn thing about it so I might as well laugh.
This isn’t a one way street.
@Elena
Bush did all KINDS of things I didn’t like. That’s why I didn’t support McCain, he was just the same as Bush. The RIGHT thing to do with prescription drugs is to equalize the prices by allowing us to buy from wherever we like. Right now the US pays for all the R&D for these drugs while other countries (Canada leaps to mind) doesn’t pay anywhere NEAR what we pay. We’re picking up the tab for the rest of the world on Rx. There’s what you fix, along with tort reform and health insurance portability (there’s your competition). Health Care is not a right, there are countries that do see it that way, and you should go there! Cuba is a great example. You should go to Cuba! You’d get along great with them, and your health care is all taken care of. We could fix health care and make it affordable……but we won’t.
“socialism”
Since so many people today don’t ssem to kn ow what it is when they “see it”.
“Socialism refers to various theories of economic organization advocating state, worker or public ownership and administration of the means of production and allocation of resources, and a society characterized by equal access to resources for all individuals with an egalitarian method of compensation. Contrary to popular belief, socialism is not a political system; it is an economic system distinct from capitalism.
Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and derives its wealth through exploitation, creates an unequal society, does not provide equal opportunities for everyone to maximize their potentialities and does not utilize technology and resources to their maximum potential nor in the interests of the public. Therefore socialists advocate the creation of a society that allows for the widespread application of modern technology to rationalize economic activity by eliminating the anarchy in production of capitalism, allowing for wealth and power to be distributed based on the amount of work expended in production, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how and to what extent this could be achieved.
Here are the policies of the Obama administration that are similar if not “accurately” socialist policies.
1. Equal access to health care resources for all individuals with an egalitarian method of compensation, the people who are most wealthy pay for “equal” health care for the people who are most poor.
2. Moving federal taxpayer dollars to ARRA economic recovery act programs that benefit only the poorest members of society, while taxing the wealthiest and middle income members of society to pay for it, because the Obama administration believes that capitalism (a free market economy concept) unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society (those motivated to create businesses) that controls capital and derives its wealth through exploitation (not paying equal wages to all individuals), creates an unequal society (members of different races, religions, genders or ethnic groups don’t all get the same income, or magical national average salary, regardless of the work they do, thier skill level, their educational level, or their individual choice to work or not work), does not provide equal opportunities for everyone to maximize their potentialities (because they want equal outcomes (or socialistic 8A protected classes), based on race, reliigion, gender and ethnicity) and does not utilize technology and resources to their maximum potential (because the Obama political staffers in government invest our tax dollars in social programs, not in innovation, R&D and technology) nor in the interests of the public ( to apply the same laws, programs and benefits to ALL individuals, based on theor individual abilities and circumstances, regardless of race, religion, gender or ethnicity).
3. Education, social medical benefits, and social equity (numerical balancing social programs based on race, religion, gender and ethnicity rather than indiviidual need) balancing and providing social program benefits for all foreigners, regardless of whether they are legal or illegal, entitled or not (this is what Cuba does, and they are a highly socialist government).
4. Accepting foreign and domestic enemies as “friends” in the advancement of your social causes, while believing they cannot and will not undermine your rule of law and concepts of democratic freedom by subverting your laws and your government for their own political and ethnic gain.
Another truth for those of you who support “socialist” political concepts.
EVERY SINGLE government in the history of the world that adopted a socialist economic system and government decayed into a government of “poverty”, where everyone became “equally” poor, regardless of their skill level, IQ and abilities.
Back to the address…during lunch today, a bunch of school staff got together and watched the speech. There we were, a couple of liberals (of which I am proudly one), several moderates, and a couple of conservatives. It was one of the conservatives who suggested we all watch the speech, and she was the first one to say that it was an excellent speech and that, as an educator, she felt it was important for her to hear this message from the President.
None of us could believe that there was this much controversy, and couldn’t understand how so many read conspiracy into Department of Education optional lesson plans. In the end, we were all glad to see the speech, and we all thought it was an excellent message for America’s kids…PERIOD.
Very interesting how some people claim it is all Obama’s fault that they are suspicious of him and every possible interpretation of words either spoken by him or associated with him (the lesson plan). Apparently, people don’t need to look inside themselves and see if it is something about them, and their attitudes, to cause them to fear this man and see nefarious plots in everything he does. I am not saying Obama is perfect or that people need to agree with his policies. I do have an issue with people that blame him completely (again, read COMPLETELY) for their own extreme fear/irrationality.
For instance, why aren’t people looking into why they so readily accept the following highly unlikely collection of beliefs about President Obama?:
1. that our President was not really born in America and is not elligible to be President.
2. that our President is a secret Muslim.
3. that our President is prejudiced against Caucasians.
4. that our President is a secret socialist.
5. that our President hates America.
6. that our President is trying to indoctrinate American children with his socialist agenda.
…the crazy list goes on…
Really…do some people ever ask themselves why they buy into all of these things about their President? Sheesh!
difference between universal health care, national healthcare, and socialized medicine:
http://patients.about.com/b/2008/10/17/is-universal-healthcare-the-same-as-socialized-medicine.htm
for more information on this, I’ve been told by a friend that The Healing of America: A Global for Better, Cheaper, and Fairer Healthcare by T. R. Reid is excellent. I can’t wait to read it:)
As an aside “i.e Moon should do a thread on it”, we may not have to worry much about socialism and religious terrorism taking over our country come November 2009.
The world may not exist after the Hadron collider in CERN, Switzerland attempts to create a “black hole” and see a Higgs boson for the first time this November 2009.
Leading scientists (Hawking and Penrose) will likely get a Nobel prize if the experiment is successful. If it is not, and the world is destroyed because the gravitational field strength of the created black hole cannot be accurately calculated (like 95% of the other equations we cannot solve for accurate solutions using QED, QCD and Einsteins equations (supersymmetry, M-theory and the mathematical answer to why is gravity so much smaller than the other 3 forces, strong, weak (electroweak symmetry breaking) and electromagnetic which all have bosons as the carriers of energy and forces between fundamental particles (baryons, leptons, and hadrons).
I am far more upset about the few 1000 people who are holding the lives of 6 billion people in their hands, doing what I think is pre-mature research and risky experiment.
Once the black hole is created, it never goes away. Not for 300 Trillion years at least (far after all suns and galaxies have lost their energy and fuel). Even if it is infinitly small, and will not interact immediately with other particles (it is millions of times smaller than the two particles slammed together with 11 TEV of energy to mash them together more densely than the event horizon radius), it will not escape our solar system gravity and will eventually come back and interact with solar system matter. I don’t trust the two reports that claim cosmic ray collisions in the upper atmosshere, have the same energy levels in collision, becuase none of those collisions have ever created black holes, just hadrons (mostly mesons) and leptons.
I am far more concerned about that risk to humanity and studying the consequences of it more closely, than worrying about debating “obama” with people on this blog (ergo, I have not commented for quite a while).
For those of you un-informed, non-studants of physics, this is not fear mongering, it is a real experimental risk (portrayed as marginal risk), but has even greater consequences than the making of an atomic bomb on the destiny of society, and the destiny of all human life on the planet. It even pales the problems we will have when society has too many babies (we reach 9 Billion population) and we run out of oil in 2035.
I have no objection to Obama’s school message (it was very good), I only object to the “progressive” and dangerous socialistic political movement supported by his staff weanies.
Thank you Diversity Gal for sharing with us insight from the lunch table. That is interesting that the conservative was the first to praise the speech.
My daughter was furious that her children had to come to my house to hear the speech.
The entire issue over the lesson plans is just a red herring. Anyone who uses the lesson plans as a reason to oppose that speech simply knows nothing about the inner workings of education. If the lesson plans (which weren’t really lesson plans …they were suggested activities if teachers wanted/needed activities or ideas) were the communist plot, then we have been under a communist plot by text book corporations, ed-tv and the state of Virginia for the past 50 plus years.
Thanks again for sharing from the teacher perspective.
Michael, your suggestion for a thread is way over my head and out of my league. Sorry, I can’t help you. It doesn’t sound like a good situation, the way you put it. Odd that is and the end of the Mayan calendar seem to be so …close in time.
Odd, I thought that Obama wasn’t going to make a political speech… Looks like he pitched universal health care to high-school students. Wow, I can’t believe people were actually worried he would bring politics into the classroom.
http://cnsnews.com/news/article/53712
Yea he reminded the kids to wash their hands alot.
Funny that the tinfoil hat brigades are the only ones reporting the freshman meeting and him sneaking in health care. Sounds like unsubstantiated horse crap to me and in the second place, who cares.
So much talk about Obama’s speech to the school kids, and had I not caught it via the press, I would have missed it completely as my near-to-PW-county-school -system never mentioned it AT ALL. I asked my HS daughter if she saw the speech, and her answer was “No”, her math teacher had the TV on but it was just the commentators doing the blah..blah for the entire period. Then she went to Eng class, and engaged in the Eng class sort of thing, and the TV was off. I asked my son who is in elem. if he heard Obama’s speech, and he replied that he did in class. I asked him “What did Obama say?” His reponse was “He talked about things. I was hungry. I think he said something about school, then _____ threw up.”
