15 Thoughts to “Patrick Swayze and Jody Powell Die 9/14/09”

  1. Elena

Patrick Swayze is finally a peace. Cancer can be such a cruel disease.

I LOVED dirty dancing, what a classic.

  2. Moon-howler

I did too. I also loved Ghost, especially the pottery wheel scene. That was the ultimate chick flick part.

I remember Jody Powell’s cool southern drawl.

  3. OMG! Patrick was an icon of the 80’s.

Have to admit I don’t know who Jody Powell was. Have to look her up.

    Peace to both of them.

  4. Moon-howler

HIM re Jody Powell. He was Jimmy Carter’s press secretary. He was an icon of the 70’s. Part of the young un’s that came in with Jimmy Carter.

  5. Starryflights

Swayze was a very talented man. He could act, sing and dance. He will be missed.

See? Told you I didn’t know who Jody Powell was!!!

(I looked at the pic again. The first time, I thought the pic of Powell was supposed to be young Swayze and I thought, “Weird. Patrick looked a LOT different in his older years.” YEAH, DUMMY. That’s because the pic isn’t of PATRICK!)

  7. Moon-howler

Well I did sort of switch their order and was too lazy to fix it. Also not an easy fix.

you wouuld have been in elementary school in Jody Powell’s hayday.

I remember Carter quite well. Probably a bit young to know what a spokesperson was.

  10. Moon-howler

Jody Powell was sort of a hottie to adult women, mullet and all. Actually I am not sure he had a mullet. Right time I guess.

You probably were too young. Powell had quite a following with the ladies. Carter had a huge following of young folks. My cousin met her husband helping with the Carter campaign. After Nixon and subsequently Ford, who was a decent guy but who was tarnished because he pardoned Nixon, Jimmy Carter was …hard to say…breath of fresh air. History will probably be kinder to him than contemporary society. He certainly accomplished more in the middle east than most folks.

Hellooooooo!! Where are the “Road House” clips? Awesome “take your brain out of your head and just enjoy it” movie!!

  12. ShellyB

Thanks for putting up the photo, M-H. Now I do remember him. He was a stand-up guy.

  13. ShellyB

    Jody Powell I mean.

Patrick was a wonderful man also but I know exactly what he looks like and will never forget the movie “Ghost” with Demi Moore.

  14. Red Dawn

I am sad he had to leave so soon but relieved that he is not suffering anymore! Cancer is The Beast. He was something else 🙂 A true talent that will be missed.
