NOW I am afraid.
The people who want the government totally out of their lives are probably also anti-choice. (Out of EVERYthing) Go figure.
I am sorry. I cannot relate. I must be missing the gene or something.
And here we have a small group defending an old man’s right to freedom of speech. NOT!
I thought part of the tea party objective was to defend the Constitution.
I believe for once, I am speechless.
HUH? “Before FDR and Social Security people saved” OMG, does this woman not know ANYTHING about history??? Does this woman, who by the way has no health insurance, understand how ridiculous she sounds? She says she isn’t worried about getting sick because she has doctors in her family? What exactly does she mean? Somebody, anybody, help me out here…
Is this real?????
someone yells, a man, “you better have a police escort” Really, healthcare debate is dangerous? The police are begging him to leave.
I just watched the videos back to back. This is what happens when people are lied to for the purposes of making them angry and afraid. Some of them. Very few. Become angry and afraid on command. They even show up where they’re told to show up. But when you organize around fear and hate, it always comes around to backfire. Haven’t we already seen this play out once before on a smaller scale closer to home?
Shellyb, are you suggesting that we are the microcosm?
Shall we make up an analogy?
The second video is the best. Let’s say I showed up at the million man march in KKK garb. Think I’d have gotten through the crowd alive? This guy is a moron, and he’s hoping to get attacked (especially with a camera on him). Nobody took the bait, though, did they?
There are always counter demonstrators at protests. They are as entitled to be there as the next guy.
Million man march in KKK garb is far more extreme than what this man did. This guy just had a sign. KKK garb crosses all boundaries–or right up there with a Westboro baptist at a gay rights march.
How about a pro-choice sign at a right to life march? I think those 2 things are closers, or should be.
I’m curious as to what you think you’ve found or proven in this second video. I’d like to see y’all post the Acorn videos (there’s like 4 or 5 of them now) and then defend them. This guy is doing EVERYTHING intentional he can to play a victim/martyr (a genetic flaw in liberals), and he gets booed….so? If I showed up at one of your little “sell America out to illegals” rallies wearing my “Calvin peeing on the Mexican Flag” t-shirt and a camera on me, could I post a video saying “pro-illegals can’t handle a little dissent”. You know I’d get knifed!
@Moon-howler
ONE guy walking through thousands and thousands of people???? Come on. You’ve seen the protests/counter-protests, they don’t co-mingle one into a thousand. I’m glad this moron didn’t get what he so desperately wanted. But y’all still get to “get the vapors” over it, huh? Here, how ’bout this one?
http://www.fox2now.com/videobeta/watch/?watch=b4857769-5b0b-4b89-bc23-09476439ac79&cat=empty&src=front&title=RAW%20VIDEO:%20Bus%20Beating%20Caught%20On%20Tape
You watch that video of a bunch of black kids beating the snot out of a white kid who couldn’t find a place to sit on that bus except for one seat with a black kid in it, then tell me…..actually, forget it.
I have never been to a ‘sell America out to illegals’ rally. I have never been to any rallies involving immigration.
All protests have counter demonstrators except in City of Manassas.
In the United States of America, people should be able to express themselves legally without fear of getting killed or injured. The guy did have 4-5 cops with him. He could have done a great deal more than what he did to stir them up. And hell, he was no spring chicken.
Slowpoke, go, rally, live through it, have someone film it, and I will post it. Promise.
My point in posting is that this is not just a peaceful bunch of people all going kumbaya like they want us to think. Those upholders of the Constitution were going to eat him alive for expressing his point of view. Not quite as innocent as purported.
Acorn–you probably won’t see anything about them from me. I don’t understand their original purpose well enough to speak to their worthiness or lack of worthiness.
I have seen all the videos. Frankly, they have made me sick.
Yes, I saw the school bus video. It made me sick and it was racially motivated according to the people there.
Now, have I ever, in the time you and I have both been on this blog, accused you of racism? As a matter of fact, Slowpoke, I think I was the one who defended your use of your moniker?
Pretty sad state of affairs when one, yes ONE, elderly man carrying a sign “Public Action Now”, needs the protection of FIVE police to walk through the throng, which became a screaming mob. I have no doubt that someone would have bodily attacked him, had the police not been there.
I saw one
You said it: ONE guy walking through thousands and thousands of people.
If they had ignored him, he would probably have left fairly quickly. Now the masses just fueled the guy’s stubbornness and they probably felt reeeeeeeeeeal good about having been so vocal about their dislike/hatred. Boy, we sure got to that old goat. He deserved it.
The bus incident was scary, especially so because most of the boys on the bus just stood there and some of them were grinning.
Courseness in our intercourse with each other has grown out of all proportions. And that started long before Obama. Former vice president Dick C. certainly didn’d set an example. What can we as individuals to to improve the atmosphere?
These “teabaggers” are a bunch of old fools and idiots, protesting government involvement in healthcare, yet have no problem accepting Medicare. They are a bunch of old hypocrites. Old people are always angry because they are already old.
I have many questions about ACORN. I am not sure of the organization’s objectives and role in govt housing. Something is really bothering me about all of this and I am not sure what.
I have even more questions about the film crew. They are liars also. They to in and tell lies about who they are. In Maryland, they were breaking the law. Rule of law?
Why are they doing all this? Do they have a conservative agenda? Are these people involved in any more right wing stings? (such as filming at Planned Parenthood under cover)
How many ACORN offices did they go to and get thrown out? What is the level of the employees they talked to? What was the decision making capapcity of the person they talked to?
Now there is a witch hunt for the people who voted against NOT pulling the plug on federal money for ACORN. I say good for these people who might want to find out more about the bills they are passing.
What I have heard makes me sick. However, I suspect a political agenda is attached. I want to know more before I run ACORN out of town on a rail.
As I listen and read, the conservative publications and talk shows all talk about the ACORN sting like it was something that really happened. Real prostitution, real illegal underage little prostitutes. This is all fantasy. There is something seriously wrong here. VERY seriously wrong. On all sides.
Hey, if ACORN is a legit organization, then they have nothing to hide right? If we can investigate the CIA, then an organization that delved in voter fraud during the election, and now this shouldn’t be taken off the radar, because some on the left are uncomfortable! I’m hearing the O.J. defense all over again. The investigators are at fault, NOT the people acting wrongly! NOT
Perhaps we should ask how many prostitution houses got there inputs from ACORN? That would back this story with ‘non-fantasy’ facts. Lets start an investigation in congress. Hell, they all got together over Wilson, so why not.
MH,
You find fault with the ACORN video yet you present the Tea Party video as though it was representative of the tens of thousands participating. Simple math says that with tens of thousands of ‘crackpots’ to video why was there only a handful actually interviewed, and then he kept coming back to the same few. Since the majority were supposedly ‘crackpots’, then why weren’t there ten times more examples to be found? I especially liked the part were the military type asked the kid if he’d been to Afghanistan…………..the interview abruptly ends. Reflections of the protest kids back in the early 70’s, only I was the one asking the question!
Second Alamo, there is a huge difference between putting something on a blog for discussion and defunding an organization based on the work of an unknown film makers. Huge difference.
I have no allegiance to acorn and as I have said, I don’t even know their objective. My concern is taking the work of these people and making billion dollar decisions based on a ruse.
And I found no fault with it. I said I had questions about it before congress has knee jerk reactions. I said the film makers had lied. Well, they weren’t really pimps or prostitutes. Why isn’t congress doing its own investigation?b It has the means.
Let’s call it over exposure to inspection. I have seen enough that I am beginning to suspect all this ACORN exposure somehow is part of the I Hate Obama project. Still trying to make the connection here.
@SA
excellent plan!
Wait. I thought the right wing media industry created all those lies about the Acorn boogie man myth for the 2008 election. They’re still trying to generate irrational hysterical hatred? How silly. It just goes to show, once you’ve spent millions to generate irrational hysterical hatred, it’s hard to let a reservoir of irrational hysterical hatred go to waste.
One other thing about this fanatical devotion to irrational hysterical hatred. These propaganda campaigns are designed to make people vote a certain way. But these nut cases shown in the video are obviously already voting that way. So why do they pick up the lies and the hate and run with it? If you already know your mind, why absorb all that hate? Why live like that? Do they think they are spreading the hate to others by screaming it as loudly as possible? I think the opposite is happening. They are just discrediting themselves and disgracing the politicians and political evangelists who put them up to this.
ShelleyB… “still trying to generate irrational hysterical hatred?”
You kill me with your complete denial of how corrupt ACORN is! 🙂 ! Irrational hysterical hatred huh… so video tape evidence of not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4 but 5 (the 5th is coming out today) of ACORN employees assisting a pimp and prostitute in getting housing assistance for the purpose of setting up a brothel filled with 12 to 15 year old El Salvadorian girls is generating irrational hysterical hatred?
Speaks volumes of your character ShellyB that you would just dismiss the fact (just because it was exposed on FOX news) that the these ACORN people were going to assist them in bringing 12 to 15 year old girls for the sole purpose of using them in the sex trade.
Wow, you are so blinded by your political views it doesn’t matter who it’s going to hurt, even if it’s little girls in the sex trade. Nice example of your far left radical views.
By the way, the pimp and prostitute had no ‘million dollar’ budget. One is a film maker (like your hero Eric Bylar) and one is a journalism student. Get your facts straight before you make such wild accusations, it only makes you look…
I have felt that ACORN needed investigation for several years and I haven’t figured out even what they are really supposed to be doing. There has just been too much exposure and talk about the organization.
However, I have a problem with Congress acting the the hysteria of the videos. I would want to see some documentation as to who the women in the videos were and what their role with ACORN is. Are they the custodians? Are they intake? Has their directive been to make everyone feel welcome?
If there are going to be stings, then they should be done by FBI or some other law enforcement agency. What is on those tapes would not hold up in court. I would expect acorn to turn right around and sue someone…probably the taxpayers.
Does it not bother anyone that the pimp and the prostitute were a set up? Any ‘evidence’ is a form of entrapment. Does that bother anyone? The entire thing was ridiculous looking. Those appeared to be street wise women. I find it astonishing that they weren’t gaming them right back.
“Does it not bother anyone that the pimp and the prostitute were a set up?” – by that same logic I suppose the ‘To Catch a Preditor’ shows bother you as well huh… they were all “a set up”.
Hello, I honestly hadn’t heard about all this.
But really. The reason that your in doctrinaires at Fox “News” have been mining for sordid tales from this group Acorn is that Republican strategists generated hatred toward Acorn as part of the 2008 campaign strategy. And like most targets the use for hatred strategies, it caught on like wildfire with people on the fringe right.
You and I see this differently because I am not looking for reasons to hate Acorn. I don’t even remember why hatred toward Acorn is supposed to help Republicans. I don’t care. If there is corruption in a company it should be rooted out just like corruption in any company. It doesn’t mean you scored political points just because Fox “News” has found something true to mix in with all the lies that will get the same result anyway due to the gullibility of their viewers.
Hello, I can’t get enough of “To Catch a Predator.” But there is no partisan attachment there. So there is no fanatical celebration when someone gets caught on that show. Like I said I don’t even remember why generating hatred toward Acorn is supposed to help Republicans. Acorn tries to help poor people, right? So it helps Republicans when a corrupt employee is found because why? Because poor people often vote for Democrats?
You really don’t have a clue do you? You still see this as right v.s. left, which is very sad.
Please, provide some examples of lies about ACORN reported by Fox News or anyone on the right… Please provide some examples of anything your talking about… you never do, you just say this or that and believe it to be true because someone told you so. If you were to ask me to provide you examples of ACORN corruption I can send you links showing dozens of ACORN workers in 13 different state being arrested on voter fraud charges (and soon to come a number of tax fraud charges).
Hello, you can put the examples up if you want. The problem is I have no motive or interest in this story beyond basic human interest. I have not political interest. Unlike your Fox “News.”
Here’s an example you can probably understand. You know how every time we find out that a Halliburton or Blackwater contractor murdered someone, or raped someone, or tortured someone. Or massacred a number of people.
What if I said this:
“Halliburton atrocities reflect poorly on Cheney since it’s his company. And all the war profiteering corporations are run by Republicans who profit when Republicans give them no-bid contracts. And then these same no-bid contract war profiteering companies contribute to Republican campaigns. So, if a man working for a no-bid contract war profiteering company massacred innocent people, therefore the Republicans are to blame for the massacre.”
How much interest would you show in that logic? Beyond the human interest part (which I assume you would have in spite of the culprits), would you be ready to celebrate it as proof that Republicans are bad people?
What government power does ACORN hold over legislating the future of the American people. Do they hold any power? Are they given Federal Funding, if so, THAT is a reason to care if this story is true or not.
I just checked the ACORN site, this is their response:
http://www.acorn.org/index.php?id=12439&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=22583&tx_ttnews%5BbackPid%5D=12387&cHash=f1e6ffcdd4
Yeah Elena, they have gotten over $54 million in federal funding since 1994 and with the stimulus they are set to get many more millions if not billions in tax payer dollars. Plus they were picked to help with the census, scary.
I see ShellyB, since ACORN is a left leaning outfit you just don’t care what they do, legal or not. I get it, you have proven my point yet again.
So then, determine if the story is true or these ACORN people were perpetrating a hoax on people perpetrating a hoax on them( gets confusing). Not for me to determine. Right now, I think this story is as much a distraction of REAL issues as the House spending time on a resolutution against Joe Wilson. Let me throw a few out, health care, banking reform, Afganistan, energy consumption, climate change, etc.
Apparently Michael O’Keefe is also known by Planned Parenthood and not in a complimentary way. One ACORN office filed a police report when he tried pulling this stunt in their office in Philidelphia. I wonder why we haven’t seen video of that footage.
http://www.acornhousing.org/TEXT/documents/Tech/AHC_Letter9-15-09.pdf
http://www.acornhousing.org/TEXT/documents/Tech/PoliceReport.pdf
Yeah, Hello, when you add into it that this was a hoax or a prank or something, it just doesn’t rise to the same level as massacres and torture committed by Halliburton. I think whoever said child prostitution was okay should be fired for saying that while on the job. Other than that, it’s a non-story. You are dancing around because Fox “News” told you to. But see, I don’t watch Fox “News” except when it actually makes real news. Usually by saying something outrageously false.
Sorry. It was Blackwater that committed the massacres. Ultimately the partisan angle to the war profiteering atrocities is not important. But I do think the killers and rapists should be brought to justice.
Awesome!!! ShellyB! The VOICE of the left!!
I will not compare ACORN to anything else. It is an entity all unto itself. However, I did read about O’Keefe’s shenannigans long before this ACORN filming too place. I feel that O’Keefe and his helper were just as dishonorable as the women we saw in the video, if not more so. He was not honest in his representation of who he was. He lied.
Why would congress take a liar’s word for anything? A liar with a politial agenda. Video that would not stand up in any court of law is being used to set national policy. That is dead wrong.
Does ACORN need investigation and oversight? I would say absolutely yes. Let GAO or some other agency do the investigation and let the brat with the camera and agenda go learn about RULE OF LAW and liars.
Folks, even the administration at ACORN is having an investigation by an outside party. The workers in the videos were fired. If you need any more facts to indicate that the videos told the truth, then I can’t help you, but I can tell you to open your eyes a little wider. I’m glad someone took it upon themselves to investigate, because the politics involved wouldn’t allow it while the government supported it with our tax dollars. I guess Obama is sure glad he doesn’t still work for them! If we can tie a past school paper to a present day politician, then why not past employment………..Hmmmmmmm?
Reminds me of 9500 Liberty!!
Racist Monkiker Man, I’m not anyone’s voice but my own. But I’m glad you were able to comprehend the analogy. Whether one is tricking idiotic employess who will say idiotic things (Acorn), or exposing employees guilty of war atrocities (Blackwater), it should not be a political agenda or bias that determines how you view the transgression.
I feel that the murder of innocent people is worse than saying dumb things on video tape. But that could just be my bias. Anyway, I don’t think Blackwater murders are a stain on Republicans. But maybe on Bush/Cheney years.
Acorn? Still don’t get why it’s relevent beyond getting some stupid people fired.
The time congress spent slapping Wilson’s hand doesn’t seem relevent to solving todays economic issues either, but it took place didn’t it. Politics is the great motivator, it’s just that it is also greatly inefficient!
2nd, that is over the top. You are comparing something a person wrote that is supposedly their thoughts to someone’s former job? I don’t think he worked for ACORN anyway. You have some documentation of that?
ACORN needs to be investigated, just not by vigilante investigators.
To my knowledge, 9500 Liberty has never claimed to be something/one they weren’t. They said up front who they were.
MH,
Just search: Obama Acorn lawyer
What if I just take your word for it that he worked for them a long time ago. What does it matter? I used to work for the University Hospital. No one holds it against them.
I don’t think it matters that he worked for the organization. He didn’t build the organization from the ground up, like one does a thesis. And remember, I am taking your word for it.
And by the way, SA, I agree with you on Congress and Joe Wilson.
According to Dick Morris, that whoremonger that Bill Clinton fired, ACORN hired Obama to be their lawyer in a lawsuit against the justice dept.
Good old Dick Morris – I had forgotten about him!
