Had the husband not lost his job, would he have joined the armed forces? I highly doubt it. Apparently he had always wanted to join, so in some ways, this story is not necessarily an unhappy ending. However, there are THOUSANDS of Americans in just this dire predicament, uninsured, sick, and without health insurance, because they have been jobless for an extended period of time. This couple has been married more than two decades and yet she will find herself, fighting this very deadly cancer, without her loving husband.

Good man! He found a job with excellent health benefits and career potential to take care of his family. He joins thousands of proud active duty military and veterans who served with pride. I salute him.
At his age it is not likely he will be deployed, so I would think they will be together as they fight the disease. But point taken. Preexisting conditions should not freeze out a person from health insurance. If the insurance companies didn’t own our government it would be possible to regulate them without fining people to push them into becoming customers.
At least he wasn’t excluded because of a pre-existing condition.
Chief Red Circle has become an Eric and Annabel wannabeeee. He has been nominated for an award for political videos. He is definitely perceptive enough to recognize the truck that hit him.
What mischief will he get in to after Nov. 3. The reporter will check out Cannes Film Festival.
I didn’t realize the KKK gave out political video awards. Interesting.
Oscar with pointy hat and robe?
I’m sure they’ll LOVE the VA!! Not a single horror story to be found there!!!
[Editor Note: VA = Veterans Administration. I was thinking Virginia.]
You can almost SEE the warm Obama-Love envelope wrapped around them now as they are safe and secure with their government-run health care!
Slow, I clarified…mainly because I was sitting arouund trying to figure out what you meant. I hope you don’t mind.
I thinnk that is sort of the point…the miltary was their last hope.
My point was they might find that having VA care is worse than no care at all! and a good foretaste of the “competitive option”.
I would take the VA care any day over some of the private plans I have had in the past. Also, they would not be eligible for the VA care yet.
Actually, they would be eligible for active duty (and perhaps retiree in the future) Tri-care. VA care is for disabled vets and vets who didn’t retire. It is a completely separate system. I’ll take Tri-care over private medicine any day. You know that the Doctor looking at your X-Ray isn’t thinking “boat payment” or perhaps he owns an interest in the MRI machine. Tri-care has been good to thousands of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines (and their families)… including mine.
Slowpoke… I’m guessing you’re not a veteran.
I will sit this one out and let the experts decide…..
@Opinion
No. So?
Slow,
I believe Opinion shared some first hand insight, it isn’t meant as an “I told you so” from my perspective. You may just want to take this information and adjust it into your learning curve 😉
Thank you, Elena. I ment no offense, Slowpoke. You just sounded unfamiliar with military medicine.
Your are welcome Opinion.
People not in the military are only exposed to the horror stories. Those in the military see the good side.
