12 Thoughts to “Who Needs Big Government?”

    This would be funny if there weren’t so many assumptions in it. Everything they’re pointing out here requires us to believe things like climate change isn’t based on total junk science, and that government involvement in the economy doesn’t cause more problems than it fixes. If there were anything believable in the video, then it would be very good!, very funny! Unfortunately, it merely insults the viewer’s intelligence. Oh well, they should keep trying!

  2. How come you are so sure that climate change is junk science? Common sense tells me that billions of human beings using various man made products has to impact the earth.

    I don’t have the science background to make that determination. I defer to those who do. Please tell me you aren’t one of those folks who believes the earth is only 6,000 years old. please please please.

    Snarky and full of assumptions that many people do not subscribe to. Is it really all or nothing–a huge expansion of government programs vs. no roads, no worker rights, no environmental protection? I hardly think that is what the opponents of huge governmental expansion are aiming for.

    This reminds me of 1950’s propaganda–the illustrations are cool, but the logic is laughably faulty.

  4. And it wasn’t put up as an absolute. It was something to think about when all of us holler less government and to stimulate discussiion (or fights). 🙄 I believe in balance.

    Probably the biggest let down of state government for me lately is closing the rest areas. How can anyone travel with pets?

    I also think the video reeks a little of beware of unintended consequences.

    You know, I’m a big fan of “Medium Government”! I’m surprised the “Medium Government” movement doesn’t get more attention. Not too big… not too small… just right.

    Nope, not one of those people. I doubt Palin is, either. Compared to forces such as the Sun, the Moon, the Tides, and concepts that were affecting the Earth’s climate for millions of years before man slithered out of the water, we’re nothing…insignificant. More and more scientists every day come forward and say “hey, you know, this man-made climate change notion is a big steaming pile of bravo-sierra”. That’s why libs want to get cap-and-tax done fast, before people start figuring it out. Watch…it’ll be a “crisis”. I guarantee you it’ll be a “crisis”….a “national security crisis”.

    @Emma
    There could never be the notion of a “road” without the federal government. States, corporations, people could never figure out the complex concept of a “road”. Without Nancy Pelosi, we’d all just wander around lost.

    No, we’re just big, stupid voters, Slow. If we dare vote conservative, we’ve been brainwashed by Fox News, no matter how many of us turn out to do so. It’s amazing we can even tie our own shoes without instructions and a big, borrowed check to help us buy new Chinese-made laces.

  9. And if you vote liberal or perhaps I should say ‘not conservative’ then you are a socialist communist. I actually don’t see the difference.

    Well, unfortunately, no one has come up with a viable candidate for the Right-of-Center Party (RCP). I won’t hold my breath.

  11. Emma

    Or would that be ROCP? Not a nice-sounding mnemonic.

  12. ROCP? Nah..not many takers there. I have lost track of what is ‘right’ and what is ‘left,’ I just know what I think and if I get the right facts presented, I might even change my mind. I suppose I think there are very few absolutes and I want church and state separate. I don’t care if ‘In God We Trust’ is on money but I know others do. I don’t think they are necessarily Godless sinners. I think I might be left of center when it all shakes down but not left…not even close. It is probably the church issues that would place me there.
