“No faith justifies these murderous and craven acts; no just and loving God looks upon them with favor,” … “And for what he has done, we know that the killer will be met with justice — in this world and the next.”

“This is a time of war. And yet these Americans did not die on a foreign field of battle. They were killed here, on American soil, in the heart of this great American community. It is this fact that makes the tragedy even more painful and even more incomprehensible.”

President Barack Obama

16 Thoughts to “Fort Hood Memorial”

  1. Sound can be adjusted under the stream on the speaker,

3:15 all sound/video feed went out for about a minute.

  2. Emma

Thirteen vibrant adults serving their nation and one unborn child. There are no words.

  3. opinion

    Hand salute!

  4. The age range really kicked me in the gut. 19 to 60 something. There are no words is quite true. Just cut down by insanity. And let us not forget those who were maimed. UFB,

  5. hello

He should be charged with 14 murders, not 13. Francheska Velez was a 21 year old who had just returned from Iraq to go on maternity leave. This terrorist shot and killed her and her child.

  6. Mando

Here’s to hoping he gets what John Muhammad got.

  7. Slowpoke Rodriguez

    @hello
    Got that right!

  8. I hope he gets what John Muhammad got also.

The fetus wasn’t viable. It probably won’t work that way. I have no problem adding attempted murder on to the list about 30 times.

I am all set to call him a terrorist but I understand why the government cannot make that determination yet. Why blow a good case.

  9. hello

How do you know the fetus wasn’t viable? Had this woman been pushed down a flight of stairs by a boyfriend or husband and she lost the baby he would be charged with that baby’s murder. How is this any different?

  10. I heard on tv that she was in her first trimester. I had heard 9 weeks.

Had she been pushed down a flight of stairs in Virginia the pusher would not have been charged with murder either. This law varies from state to state.

For starters, leaving me a link to lifenews.com is probably not something I am going to take very seriously. Their mission is to convince people of life and death issues and probably might just be a weeeeee bit slanted towards their point of view.

Secondly, since first responders gave medical assistance to the fetus, it sounds to me like that one was much past viability.

I am far more concerned over the 40 some people who were cut down by some bastard, for whatever reason, than I am over a beginning pregnancy. To focus on a 9 week pregnancy just misses the point and trivializes the horrorific massacre that took place last week at Fort Hood.

  11. hello

“To focus on a 9 week pregnancy just misses the point and trivializes the horrific massacre that took place last week at Fort Hood.”

    – I’m not ‘focusing’ on it, I’m just pointing out that there was a 14th victim. Yeah, I’m not sure if she was married but if she was try telling the father that pointing out his unborn child was also one of the people murdered that day ‘just trivializes the horrific massacre’. What a heartless thing to say.

By the way, the link was just to show an example of someone being charged for two counts of first degree murder when he killed a pregnant woman. Why must you politicize everything?

  12. You lost me on the father part. I haven’t heard anything about him. That would be me, heartless. This is not the place for an abortion debate.

The entire issue of charging someone with the death of a fetus is a slippery slope and it also varies from state to state. Why throw a cog in a very clear cut case with something like that? You have 30 wounded people and 13 dead.

Politicize? Don’t throw religious material at me under the guise of it being anything other than what it is.

  13. hello

I’m not trying to have an abortion debate! I’m pro-choice!

  14. hello

That is exactly what I’m talking about when I say YOU politicize EVERYTHING! I was simply saying that when he killed this pregnant woman he also killed her baby. I happen to be pro-choice but being a new father and seeing 4D sonograms of my child whether it’s 9 weeks or 19 weeks I also happen to think of the child as a human.

However, you can’t seem to see that. I’m not sure if you have ever seen or heard of a 4D sonogram but look it up, it’s amazing. Instead of looking at it as yes, this child was also murdered you see it as ‘well, that wasn’t a viable fetus’, and I’m only ‘trivializing’ the incident. Are you serious?

Yes, I find that to be heartless…

  15. Human beings have human fetuses. I don’t find that particularly amazing. And yes, I have seen modern sonograms.

The issue is the Fort Hood soldiers who have been killed. Check the title of the thread. My issue: Why complicate a case that is cut and dry for the most part by throwing in something that is a slippery slope. I don’t think that is political at all. It is a legal issue.

Fetal death at the hands of an assailant is a slippery slope legally. Are the legal aspects punctuated by political considerations? Most definitely. Why would anyone want to deal with that when it isn’t necessary? I can’t imagine the army wants to. I would be surprised if they did. The burden of proof is much different.

If that is heartless, then so be it.
