Today is Black Friday, the uber-shopping day of the year. Many folks will flock to stores and malls in search of the ultimate bargain. There is just nothing as tempting as a sale.
Where are the bargains? If you find something good, post it? How many people will wait for Cyber Monday when all the internet sales supposedly happen?
What do the non-shoppers do on Black Friday?
Unfortunately for local merchants — online is cheaper and shipping is free — at least for the stuff on my list.
But I also did the 3/50 thing (spend $50 at 3 stores) in Old Town Manassas. Great stocking stuffers at Whimsical Gallerie and holiday cards at the Manassas Museum.
Today I’m working on the family’s photo page. Copy it at Ernie Newland’s UPS store across from the hospital. Wrapping paper and tape from CVS.
Done!
Thanks Cindy. At least you have a plan.
Are those stores along liberia all in the city?
The mini stock crash today sure made me think about spending. All news analysis indicates that Dubai’s inability to pay their bills caused a financial nervousness that was felt around the world.
Maybe Dubai needs to start selling off some of that oppulence. I hope today wasn’t the beginning of something else. No one wants to go through the meltdown of 2008 again.
I didn’t go out until late morning today, so I missed out on the “doorbusters.” I can’t think of a single material object that would compel me to line up outside of Walmart at 3 am, although apparently a lot of people did. Staples had some excellent deals for college-student stocking stuffers.
What did they have, Emma? Staples that is.
I can’t think of ANYTHING that would lure me to Walmart. Not in Manassas–much less at 3 am.
I love Whimsical Gallerie! I buy my garden flags there. In fact, I had hoped to go over this weekend and get one for Christmas.
Went to Target today, but only because I had to. Didn’t find any good deals, but surprisingly, I was in and out in 20 minutes. The crowds were all in the toy section which, thank goodness, I don’t have to visit anymore.
I usually avoid Black Friday like the plague. I hate crowds. Like Cindy, I prefer to shop online as well–too much so, in fact. It’s far too easy!
On Black Friday, non-shoppers eat roast turkey sandwiches and left over pumpkin pie (with whipped cream on top), add a few comments to their favorite blog, catch up on their reading or turn on the TV for a college football match, and laugh smugly at those who stand in line at Walmart to further enrich China.
LOL Excellent! Wolverine hit a homerun right out of the park.
Some of us uncouth ones laugh loudly and point. 🙄
