Jon Stewart discusses the past weekend as only Jon can. He discusses Ronald Reagan’s birthday, the Superbowl, the Tea Party Convention and its guest speakers, Sarah Palin and Tom Tancredo.

A really wonderful interview with Jenny Sanford who is actually quite the wit herself: You might have overlooked the interview because it isn’t high comedy.

Tancredo’s speech was over the top. I would hope the audience was offended. I thought that Amerigasm is one of the funniest skits I have seen Jon Stewart do. Have a mavericky watch as Stewart analyzes Palin as a pop culture phenomena.
I especially liked Stewart’s take on Tom Tancredo, the one-time anti-illegal alien Presidential candidate and congressman until he quit. Is that what he does now, addressing Tea Partiers around the country? What a loser he turned out to be.
I can’t disagree with you, SF. I really did not like what Tancredo said. He is strongly implying the election was illegal and invalid and then he gets in a snipe over the President’s name.
The “Amerigasm” video was quite funny!
This was great until the writing on the body bit. He also let Tancredo off the hook way too easy. There are somethings that just aren’t that funny. Bigotry is one of them.
I think perhaps Mr. Colbert outdid his former boss on the Palin mockery front:

WT, that skit is hilarious. I didn’t dare post it. I didn’t want to make our right leaning friends cry. Palin’s logic and hypocrisy with Chris Wallace take the cake. Satire? 🙄
From the summary I heard of Sanford’s book, she could have called it “I Am An Idiot”.
That Jenny Sanford is GREAT! She should run for Governor.
I liked Jenny Stanford also. Rick, why do you think she is an idiot?
Because she married Sanford. Here’s a good review of her book – http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/04/AR2010020404377.html
A few highlights :
There is their first Thanksgiving together, four weeks into their marriage, when Mark and Jenny arrive at Coosaw, and he explains that she’ll be sharing a bedroom with his sister: “I’ve always slept with my brothers and I don’t see why that has to change now that we’re married.” There is the time, again during the first year of their marriage, that he refuses — despite her tearful pleading — to accompany Jenny to her grandfather’s funeral. “I explained how it was something I needed. . . . But Mark held firm that he didn’t need to go with me to the funeral.”
Or — my personal favorite — the time he balked at accompanying pregnant Jenny to childbirth classes: “Mark joined me at one Lamaze class before deeming it a waste of his time since, as he explained, ‘I’ve spent many long nights helping cows give birth and I know what to do when the baby gets stuck.’ “
When Mark leaves his 2-week-old baby to climb Mount Rainier with friends, “I didn’t really see any reason for Mark not to go off and enjoy his adventure.”
By the time Mark is in Congress, Jenny is reduced to instructing the scheduler to remind him of her birthday. And there is the touching moment when Mark has a friend pick out a diamond necklace for Jenny, has a staffer hide the present in her closet and faxes notes to Jenny and the boys cluing them in on where to search. A few weeks later, when Mark sees the necklace, he exclaims, “That is what I spent all that money on?! I hope you kept the box!’ ” Mark “returned the necklace the next day, thinking it was not worth the money he had spent,” she writes. “I wouldn’t have felt comfortable wearing it in his presence, so what was the point?”
