Eeek! Emma, I don’t know what to tell you. I am just the messenger here. I don’t know what to tell you. I will email Al and ask him.
He has probably already left for Haymarket, Emma. He has a wicked blackberry though, so maybe he will show up here.
Captain, do you mean the purse or the real mountain?
Maybe they work for Geico…so easy a caveman can do it.
I always thought that was very clever on the part of Geico’s marketing. No one could get offended.
This is the only one I know about, Emma.

The purse.
My understanding is that the cavemen were quite offended. ACORN is in line to receive a $4 billion grant to fight for caveman rights, and the ACLU has multiple lawsuits pending.
Then you missed the rerun of the season 2 finale of “Flavor of Love”, which was much more intellectually nourishing than Rick Maddow.
That new link works, Moon, thanks. The other link just kept bringing me back to my own FB news feed for some reason.
I am expecting a full report from Al and Elena on their meeting. Meanwhile, I am still listening Mr. Howler grousing about Larouche.
Correction. Mr. Howler doesn’t grouse. Truthfully, he rants, raves and bitches.
I like him already!
my issue with the Tea Party crowd is that they are so partisan – if they are not partisan, where have they been every year while our government grew and grew – while deficit spending goes up – and needed reforms go untouched.
Where were they to help shore up Social Security?
Vote down the unfunded RX – Medicare Part D?
Tort Reform during the Bush Administration? (but it is all the talk now).
Partisan Politics, that is why I do not the Tea crowd any credibility.
Pat, you are totally right. It is like they lived in a cave while all that was going on. Don’t forget that education was removed from state and local control even more and the ton of new unfunded mandates that were added.
And if you ask that question, you will be ignored or the subject will be changed.
Sometimes they will even agree and say I don’t like that either…and then go off on a charge about Congress and Obama.
Damn, at least admit that Obama hasn’t been president since 2000. I am not saying a lot doesn’t need fixing, starting with finance reform, but let’s spread the blame around a little bit better and then find solutions. Obama is a bad boy just isn’t cutting it any more.
Report in from the Coffee Party:
Good turn out for an initial meeting. At least 30-40 people. Pretty much a 40 plus crowd. Emphasis on the plus.
How many of the 30-40 folks were just there to get a cup of coffee?
“I don’t want to talk to you people, I’m just here to get a cup of coffee………and take your hand out of your pants.”
Emma,
I’m sorry you had trouble finding the PWC Coffee Party Facebook Page. Here’s the link: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=382101529195
The Coffee Party kick-off exceeded all expectations. We had quite a crowd… they were all civil… and we quickly turned over “what’s next” to four issue centered groups. It should be fun to watch this unfold.
Wish you were there (unless you were there… then never mind).
Was that YOU!???? Slowpoke!!! I have talked to you about that in public!
It wasn’t at a coffee place. The covenchix meet at the coffee shop. The other Coffee Party People CPP met at Haymarket.
Emma, see, I can summons Al, just not in a timely fashion. Sorry. He was busy.
@Al Sorry, Al, no I wasn’t there because you were competing with the Manassas St. Patrick’s Day parade. Being the big kid I am, the parade won out. Perhaps next time.
Saw the remnants of the parade as I came back into town — green litter, empty bleachers and a lone Irish dancer bobbing up and down as the adults she was with talked in front of Okra’s. Sorry I missed it. The Grand Marshal, Mike Riley, was one of my former Girl Scout dads — I’ll never forget the campout that he brought military ready-to-eat meals for the girls to try. They were fascinated.
Glad the Coffee Party meeting was three hours, which gave everyone a chance to talk before breaking into small groups. Our group (voter education) meets again on 3-23 at 5:30pm upstairs at Wegmans, Rt. 29 Gainesville. Anyone’s welcome to join us.
I talked to at least one college student and an elected official. There were enough veterans to take a group photo. It was a good chance to listen, learn and listen to a range of viewpoints. Great event!
@cindy b Mike Riley was my daughter’s wonderful lacrosse coach a few years back. Loved that he wore a pink tie, hightops and sometimes pink sunglasses for his players at games. Who’s gonna argue with a Marine wearing pink?
@Moon-howler
That’s right, Harymarket, I remember now.
@cindy b
Cindy,
I’m really glad you could make it to the coffee party meeting. Thanks for helping facilitate priorities. There were a lot of Veterans. I went home and started a veterans page to see just how many are in the Coffee Party. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Join-the-Coffee-Party-Movement-in-Prince-William-County-Virginia/364354346700?ref=mf
I also started a new fan page. The group photo is there. It’s at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Anywhere-USA/Join-the-Coffee-Party-Movement-Veterans-Group/401765141872?ref=mf
Enjoy!
Wops… I reversed the two pages with their description in my last post…
About 50 people attended the Arlington-Alexandria coffee party 🙂
That sounds like a good crowd. Lots of diversity or not so much, Firedancer?
Hello All,
Busy day today! First, I want to say how incredible the first coffee party meeting was today. Here is my impression, we definately had a diverse crowd there, at least from my perspective, in life experiences. I was somewhat surprised that besides me and maybe four other people, the age group was somewhat older. I guess what I am saying, is that the group that assembled were definately not college or even remotely out of college except maybe one person. Of that group, there was a fairly even split by gender. I believe of the 30 people who attended, 8 were veterans of the military with substantial time in their particular branch of service. The level of discussion was very productive. It was not a love fest for Democrats, nor was it a bash fest against Republicans. I believe there was a consensus that although government was not working effectively right now, we all believed that there was a role to play and that government was suppose to work like a “manager” so to speak. A manager WE the people pay for!
THAT is great Firedancer!
Emma,
I think you would be pleasantly surprised by the discussion at the coffee party. Maybe you’ll make it to the next one.
I don’t mind if you don’t like the Rachael Maddow Show, but why do you have to be so spiteful and hateful all the time? We all know she’s gay, is that why you call her Rick? Say you don’t like her show because its liberal, say you think that she is biased, whatever, but say it about the content of her show, not about her.
For me, the Coffee Party represents what I love about John Locke and his social contract theory.
Moon, where is this “mob rule” you are talking about? Been kind of peaceful lately. The only “mob” I’ve seen of late was the one down at the Ritz-Carleton threatening to invade the place and “arrest” other Americans — most definitely not Tea Party.
And this so-called “mainstream.” Who gets to decide what is “mainstream”? I would think that to be a subjective thing. Some might even say that the 60 percent of Americans who oppose the current health care bills are “mainstream” and lesser number who support the bills are “fringe.”
That goes back to what I was saying about the definition of “fringe”. My definition of “fringe” may be quite different than someone else’s. Who gets to decide what the definition of “fringe” is?
The coffee partiers attending the Arlington-Alexandria meeting I believe were all Democrats (Republicans are scarce there anyway), but there was a diversity of opinion represented within that group. It was not a lovefest for liberals either. I didn’t attend but heard all about it from several who did.
Hey, speaking of comin on down, there is a Tea Partyly on Health Care today in front of the Capital. It will have more than 50 something folks. So come on down and be heard!
BTW, Moon, please stop referring to your self as a mainstreamer – your not and when you do that it makes true mainstreams ill.
