This is simply surreal!  Seriously, the highest law enforcement figure in the State of Virginia believes the President of the United States is not rightfully elected?  I’m sorry, can Virginia look any worse in the eyes of the country?   This bizarre conspiracy theory is simply unfathomable to me.

165 Thoughts to “OMG Virginia AG, Cuccinelli, A Closeted Birther!”

  1. Gainesville Resident

    Moon-howler :
GR, I won’t think anyone is blaming you for anything. And so what if they are. I have been blamed for all sorts of things and I am alive and kicking. Mostly kicking, I might add.

Well, I was mostly just addressing what two different posters said that seemed to be directed at me:
    1. That I was stumped because I didn’t answer Elena’s question to me in some short period of time (I hadn’t even seen it when his/her post went up implying I was stumped).
    2. Another poster seemingly unhappy that I kept the thread going – although I am reading that into their post admittedly – because of other things that poster has written in the past directly about other things I’ve said – going along with the racist accusations and all that nonsense from the past. I may be reading something in to that poster’s post on this thread that aren’t there, I suppose.

Whatever, I think I’ve had enough of this thread.

  2. Thanks for the information, marinm. I’m not an attorney either.

  3. Marin, not really–no more so than the Battlefield is yours and the University Hospital and MCV are yours. They have rules and they are governed by a board of Visitors or Regents. Just because something is owned by the government, it doesn’t mean you can go do what you like. I can’t go in to Splashdown or Silver Lake after hours either. Those who have been charged with oversight also get to determine the rules.

You are advocating a form on anarchy which makes me uncomfortable.

  4. It ran up very fast, for sure.

  5. Taxperson, when I hear words out of someone’s own mouth, I tend to not look around for much of anything else. We ARE talking about a person who has gone out of his way to strut his conservative stripes. Why wouldn’t I believe the post.

I still think he might have been answering honestly. Now, he might not want the political baggage that comes with being a birther, and for that I cannot blame him. He has sued the fed govt over the EPA, he has told colleges and universities to drop sexual orientation as a protected class, and he has made controversial remarks that simply veer far right of the mainstream. Why would I automatically look for further proof if I hear his voice saying something?

  6. marinm

………right… So, your starting to catch up on this. The Board of Visitors is appointed by the Governor. They take an Oath of Office to follow public laws. The AG clarified the position of the State of Virginia in terms of the laws of Virginia that the public colleges are obliged to follow.

So, not getting into any discussion on the AG’s motives.. He clarified the obligation of the BoV to the Commonwealth and told them that until the General Assembly *does* something in the affirmative – they cannot go on a limb and do it themselves.

I’m not advocating anarchy at all. Simply that if *I* have to follow the rules that the BoV has to follow them as well. The rule is (actually the law but go with me on this) that they can’t do anything outside of the lil sandbox that the General Assembly gives them. For those that go outside of those bounds they are placing the State of Virginia and the colleges in legal jeopardy.

Your logic actually proves my point very well. 🙂

    Moon-howler :
I still think he might have been answering honestly. Now, he might not want the political baggage that comes with being a birther, and for that I cannot blame him. He has sued the fed govt over the EPA, he has told colleges and university to drop sexual orientation as a protected class, and he has made controversial remarks that simply veer far right of the mainstream. Why would I automatically look for further proof if I hear his voice saying something?

OK, I can see that point of view – and that’s certainly a fair one. Of course, the odd thing is was this snippet of the interview the entire interview or not. Somehow I still feel something is being missed here – but the interview was at least “bookended” by two events – the first of which being he didn’t want to attend some event where it appeared a “birther” (or maybe “birthers” was attending) – and second was his clarification of his opinion of the subject. It also appears the interview was prompted (maybe) by his non-attendance at this political event. The whole thing just seems odd to me, as I really haven’t heard this “birther” stuff in quite some time – and it seemed to me no one was talking about it. Again, maybe I haven’t been watching the right news channels.

Anyway, I just don’t think one can draw a proper conclusion on things unless one sees the whole picture – and I’m not even sure I have the whole picture yet. I’ve not been able to find if that was the entire interview – or it is just the only piece of the interview that got reported. To me, context matters a lot – and I still wonder what the context was that prompted this reporter to go and ask about that.

  8. Rez

Gee, sorry I just finished driving for 8 hours so I haven’t read much except something from StarryFlights. I am not a republican if that what you were insinuating. I am registered as an independent and my last party affiliation was democrat. As if calling someone is a republican is a bad thing?

I also did not vote for the AG.

Elena, I was raised among many lawyers and I know a lawyer answer when I hear one. I would expect an AG to respond in a lawyer fashion about Bush as much as this AG did about an asinine birther question.

And Wolfie, I may have tried to change the subject about something more relevant in my view, but you answer scares me. If you think the Speaker of the US House is only an issue for San Francisco, I am concerned. Last I heard, she follows the Vice President in replacing a president.

  9. Rez

And a last thing. Elena, I have emailed you all with suggestions before for a thread and it wasn’t even acknowledged, even a “we got it and we don’t care what you suggest.” So sometimes, I may introduce a subject that is immediately relevant from today’s newspaper. I am sorry if I offended your control.

  10. You know, I don’t understand the hostility towards the “birthers.” Why aren’t their questions valid? While Hawaii answered with a “certification of birth”, there was no full accounting of many questions that were asked of Obama the candidate. And the press gave him a pass.

I consider the question moot as President Obama was duly certified as a candidate and elected. Even if home video was produced, proving foreign birth, I don’t think anything would come of it. The situation would be too radioactive.

    BUT.

There are questions that no one seems to want to answer about his history. And this is why the questions don’t go away:

    http://unitedconservatives.blogspot.com/2009/08/its-about-honesty-not-his-birth-place.html

And here’s another reason why he may not want to reveal the vault document: Just sayin….

    http://unitedconservatives.blogspot.com/2009/07/just-sayin.html

Why has President Obama spent over a million dollars hiding his school records and other history? Even McCain provided a birth certificate and he was born on American territory.

I don’t care enough to be a “birther.” But, I dislike dishonest politicians that want office and yet refuse to be fully vetted.

  11. Btw, the Just sayin, is just a funny. But they do look alike. Hmmmm….

The link there, SEPARATED AT BIRTH, does have some interesting ideas and questions…..

If true, THAT would be a bomb shell……And get him re-elected…..I think.

  12. Also, just had a thought.

If, and its a big IF, what would your opinion be if its found out that he WASN’T born in the US? Would that make every bill and order he approved, null and void?

    OMG. President Biden. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

Then again, he’s just stupid, not malicious.

  13. Emma

Wasn’t President Obama’s own grandmother the one who opened the “birther” can of worms by telling the world he was born in Kenya? It’s understandable there would be questions.

  14. @marinm

I am starting to catch up? Marin, please tell me you didn’t intend that as it sounded.

I don’t agree with the esteemed AG. Neither do a lot of people. Interpretation!

  15. Gainesville Resident

    Rez :
Last I heard, she follows the Vice President in replacing a president.

Indeed, that is why I object to Pelosi so much. The Speaker of the House is a very powerful position. She’s proved she’s an outright liar – as multiple sources confirm she knew about waterboarding when it was proposed – and then she turned around and lied about that. It is scary someone like that is in a position of such power.

  16. Emma, I think one of the wives of his dead father said something about his birth, not his grandmother who raised him. Big difference.

Rez, are you sure Elena got what you sent her? I put that email address in under contacts up on th banner tabs. I never tested it and am not sure it works. I can’t imagine Elena not responding to your email. Try it again and let me know if you don’t hear back from her.

I MEANT that Pelosi wasn’t a Virginia elected official. What she does doesn’t embarrass me as a Virginian. Cut me some slack here.

  17. Gainesville Resident

I still really think all this “birther” stuff is old news – and am surprised it even got rehashed in that interview with Cucinelli. So, at this point I could care less about where Obama was born. I have a lot more issues with him than that, and they come down to what he’s been doing since becoming President. At this point, what he did in getting himself elected – or what he did even in the years before he got elected, really no longer matters. Not that I ever really cared where he was born even before he got elected – as I had other objections that trumped that in my opinion.

Anyway, maybe I’m missing something – but I really thought all that stuff about where he was born had long ago ceased to be discussed. I’m starting to think reading this thread – maybe that’s not true. However, I actually think it’s a non-issue at this point.

  18. Rez

it was when you were using antibvbl.

  19. I guess I did it then too. I just tested it to see if she answers me. I have never tried to use it. She is very good about answering email. Better than I am. I don’t put my email I use all the time up there. I have a special web-based blog account. I don’t check it as often as I should. I have gotten better though.

  20. And in fairness, I bet you didn’t vote for him either, GR. He is above 50% with me which is pretty good for a president. That could all change in a New York minute with me though. I didn’t have extremly high expectations to start with though.

GR, what has he done that has irritated you the most?

  21. Captain Idiot-Face

    Moon-howler :
And Slowpoke, remember that Beatles song? It would probably not be a good idea to speak to my mental capacity. I might very well go postal on you and you know what happens when I do that.

    Hmm, Three things.
I can’t place which Beatles song.
I can’t place what happens when you go postal
Was there always a calendar down here?

  22. Gainesville Resident

You are right I didn’t vote for him.

Mainly, the whole health care thing and trying to rush it through congress. He made a lot of promises that it would be bipartisan – but early on both he and Pelosi basically said “sorry, we aren’t even interested in what the other side has to say – we have the votes and we don’t need their input”. Maybe it was more Pelosi. But he tried to ram that poorly understood climate bill through – and now the healthcare thing – I don’t think anyone can easily explain all that’s in it and what all the ramifications are.

I know this is an unpopular point of view – but it’s my point of view and others can feel free to disagree with it.

I just see my excellent health plan at work (which last year even though I had several prescriptions refilled monthly and 2 or 3 routine doctor visits – I paid $0 out of pocket – yes that’s right ZERO DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET and also my premium is not very high either) going away with this health plan, or else all of the sudden my out of pocket costs going from zero to something large non-zero. Maybe that’s selfish, but I happen to like my insurance just the way it is – and no one’s convinced me it won’t change under this new healthcare reform plan. If it does, you can bet I’ll be angry!

  23. Gainesville Resident

Anyway, that’s really not what this thread is about – it was about the issue of the “birthers”. I don’t know how I managed to steer it onto a discussion about what I dislike about Obama. As I can see that turning into a lengthy discussion, I’m not really up for it and would rather let this thread go back to being about the “birther” issue and how it applies to the Virginia Attorney General.

  24. Gainesville Resident

    Captain Idiot-Face :
Was there always a calendar down here?

I noticed that too – and I was thinking – did I never scroll down that far before? There’s also some long list of other things too. I’m thinking that stuff used to appear in a better format on the right side of the page – and something has gotten messed up with the formatting of the html or xml on the webpage – and isn’t being rendered properly.

  25. We are having techical difficulties. I have a call in to our technical specialist.

I will pass your diagnosis along, GR, since all I could come up with involved the F word.

  26. Captain Idiot-Face

OK, I get it. It’s supposed to be on the side. I was thinking “hey, look at this!” “A Calendar!” “How Neat!”

  27. Captain, even though I seriously disagree with most of your political analysis, I have never called you a schizophrenic or even stooped low enough to tell you to get back on your meds.

Think about it. I don’t expect that done to me either. However, I do put up with crap like that out of some of you all the time. Then if I so much as utter a kookoonelli there is always someone out there ready to crawl my frame and accuse me of being a 5 year old.

Here’s the way its going to be. If you can’t take it, don’t dish it out. I am not by nature a gentle, decent human being. You don’t want to awake the evil twin. She might tell you exactly what she thinks of kookoonelli, Love Canals and the whole gang of merry thieves who want to send my state back to the previous century, women back to the kitchen, and a whole host of other things I find objectionable.

  28. Happy Harry

    Moon-howler :
    >
If you want to get on a high horse about something, go look at what was done to a campaign worker on a blog. Now THAT was trashy. It was very difficult for Alanna, Elena and me to not bring up an unfortunate incident with an aid whose public behavior resulted in legal action. But we don’t pride ourselves on cheap shots.

    https://www.moonhowlings.net/index.php/2008/09/22/and-again/

    Sure about that?

We are having techical difficulties. I have a call in to our technical specialist.
I will pass your diagnosis along, GR, since all I could come up with involved the F word.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call what I wrote a “diagnosis” (that’s being generous) but feel free to pass it along if you think it will help.

  31. Gainesville Resident

Actually, I don’t know if the website’s html is done using frames, but if so it appears that instead of being in the right frame, the content that is supposed to be there is ending up at the bottom of the center frame. Although I’m having trouble remembering what things looked like when they were rendering properly – I seem to recall something should be on the left side (or frame) too. However, there’s ways of doing this without frames, so I may be completely off base.

That’s a bit more of what I might want to call a “diagnosis” but it may be a completely WRONG diagnosis! So take it for what it’s worth – which is not much really. While I’m a software engineer, my expertise does not lie in html/xml or any other code involved in presenting information to the end user. So my knowledge of this sort of thing is very beginner level and therefore anything I say in this area should be taken with a grain of salt, as it may be completely wrong.

  32. HH, I can a lot cheaper shot in than that. Don’t tempt the fates.
Actually I wish I could claim responsibility for that post but I can’t.

If my hotmail does not recognize your address, sometimes it goes right to junk mail. Try again and if you don’t get a response, please post something on the blog to give me a heads up.

The Black Velvets are hollering bloody murder over your treatment of poor coo coo.

How about all those threads that their savior put up about questioning the authenticity of Obama’s birth certificate and the legitimacy of an Obama presidency.

Maybe their savior planted that bad thought in coo coo’s mind and that’s why he said what he did. He meant to call him Macaca.

    Here are the links:

And just when I thought the really clever folks weren’t going to show up!

  38. Firedancer

I’m coming late to the game, so don’t know if anyone mentioned this earlier. The Washington Post published an interesting opinion on Sunday (think it was) that for McDonnell, Cuccinelli is the gift that keeps on giving. Cuc can be the wacko right-wing extremist, while McD gets to play the moderate, which is far more helpful to his apparent long-term political ambitions. McD has already established his conservative credentials by that thesis. Now he gets to appeal to the moderates that he would need to be elected to a higher office. Could this all be a right-wing conspiracy to get McDonnell elected president???

  39. Captain Idiot-Face

Let’s make a deal. When the Republicans produce a Presidential candidate that cannot produce a birth certificate, then we’ll listen to what the left has to say on the topic. Until then, we’re not the ones with a guy who has to hide so much stuff about his past (and we all know why).

  40. Oh stop it. Obama has a birth certificate.

There is a lot of world between THE left and The right. Stop being binary, Captain.

Firedancer, makes sense to me. Sort of like all the cartwheels everyone is turning over the Marshall law outlawing forcing people to buy health care. Meaningless unless someone needs a court case, such as the theoretical one Cuccinelli mentions in his little interview.

But that’s ok. These kind of people always end up shooting themselves in the foot. I have seen it before. The uber-cons come in and start in with all this ideological hardware and the mainstream gets sick of it and kicks them out. Then a bunch of liberals come along as saviors and they get kicked to the curb also….what is that about the political pendulum?

  41. Captain Idiot-Face

    Moon-howler :
Oh stop it. Obama has a birth certificate.

I know, he just “misplaced” it! Now where did I put that darn thing? 🙂

  42. Captain Idiot-Face

The birth certificate thing isn’t quite as much fun as “he’s a Muslim” thing. Now THAT was good times!

  43. Elena

slow, you are so right, like every other president that has produced a birth certificate, why should Obama get a pass? Who does he think he is?!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, wait, I can’t recall WHAT other president has been so hounded to prove his citizenship, methinks it’s because there is none! Furthermore, I can’t agrue such lunacy. President Obama, has, on several occassion produced a legal birth certificate.

I find it hilarious, I mean PURE hypocrisy, that anyone on BVBL would call Moonhowlings out suggesting that Cuccinelli has birthing leanings. Afterall, clearly, Greg posted at least two threads about just that issue, clearly very seriously doubting the authenticity of Obama’s birth certificate. So WHAT exactly are they outraged about….A) that Cuccinell is now denying his doubt regarding the birthplace and citizenship of President Obama or that I had the audacity to suggest there is something wrong with suggesting that its an embarrassment to this state that our AG would not emphatically deny such craziness regarding the President of the United States.

  44. Elena

    Firedancer,
Seriously, McDonnell is looking like the real moderate, interested in governing NOT based on some extreme ideology, but on a more even keel. I for one am quite please with his recent behavoir, even called his office and said “good job”.

  45. Elena, sorta kinda.

More moderate….that’s about all I can say.

  46. Captain Idiot-Face

    Elena :
Oh, wait, I can’t recall WHAT other president has been so hounded to prove his citizenship, methinks it’s because there is none! Furthermore, I can’t agrue such lunacy. President Obama, has, on several occassion produced a legal birth certificate.

And what you fail to point out is that the reason no other President has been hounded so is because they’ve all produced their proof either without being asked or immediately upon asking. Obama (and again, we all know why) seems to have a lot to hide. Many people find the naked truth hard to argue against, so I wouldn’t get too worked up over that. I hadn’t heard that he produced a legitimate birth certificate. I don’t really care about it, and I haven’t seen it, so I don’t believe it.

  47. Elena

If you haven’t heard slow, how many times he has produced his birth certificate, than you have simply chosen not pay attention, that’s all I can think of. Furthermore, his MOTHER was from freakin’ Kansas, SHE was an AMERICAN! He was BORN in Hawaii.

President Obama has nothing to hide and that is simply silly to imply. Maybe it’s easier to obsess about his birth certificate than deal with how this country was so desperate for change they elected a man with a white mom and a black dad with the name Barak Obama! Talk about leaping into diversity as a nation!

Actually, it is funny how many people on this blog say they don’t care about the other site – but then we get posts like these… Can’t have it both ways – either you don’t care what the other site does and you don’t report on it, or you do care. My thinking is you do care, but don’t want to admit it. Kind of hypocritical, isn’t it? Seems like here we have a complaint about the other site complaining about what’s going on here. Who really cares what is said on the other site?

  50. Gainesville Resident

    Elena :

Some of the things that people on this site get spun up about that bvbl talks about – is what I find funny and hypocritical. It might be best if both sites would stop paying so much attention to what each other does. I don’t think bvbl has the lock on hypocritical stuff.
