From Huffington Post:

PHOENIX — Minutemen groups, a surge in Border Patrol agents, and a tough new immigration law aren’t enough for a reputed neo-Nazi who’s now leading a militia in the Arizona desert.

Jason “J.T.” Ready is taking matters into his own hands, declaring war on “narco-terrorists” and keeping an eye out for illegal immigrants. So far, he says his patrols have only found a few border crossers who were given water and handed over to the Border Patrol. Once, they also found a decaying body in a wash, and alerted authorities.

But local law enforcement are nervous given that Ready’s group is heavily armed and identifies with the National Socialist Movement, an organization that believes only non-Jewish, white heterosexuals should be American citizens and that everyone who isn’t white should leave the country “peacefully or by force.”

“We’re not going to sit around and wait for the government anymore,” Ready said. “This is what our founding fathers did.”

An escalation of civilian border watches have taken root in Arizona in recent years, including the Minutemen movement. Various groups patrol the desert on foot, horseback and in airplanes and report suspicious activity to the Border Patrol, and generally, they have not caused problems for law enforcement.

But Ready, a 37-year-old ex-Marine, is different. He and his friends are outfitted with military fatigues, body armor and gas masks, and carry assault rifles. Ready takes offense at the term “neo-Nazi,” but admits he identifies with the National Socialist Movement.

“These are explicit Nazis,” said Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Project. “These are people who wear swastikas on their sleeves.”

Ready is a reflection of the anger over illegal immigration in Arizona. Gov. Jan Brewer signed a controversial new immigration law in April, which requires police, while enforcing other laws, to question a person’s immigration status if officers have a reasonable suspicion that the person is in the country illegally.

But Brewer hasn’t done enough, Ready said, and he’s not satisfied with President Barack Obama’s decision to beef up security at the border.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said there haven’t been any incidents with the group as they patrol his jurisdiction, which includes several busy immigrant smuggling corridors. But Babeu is concerned because an untrained group acting without the authority of the law could cause “extreme problems,” and put themselves and others in danger.

“I’m not inviting them. And in fact, I’d rather they not come,” Babeu said. “Especially those who espouse hatred or bigotry such as his.”

Law enforcement officials said patrols like Ready’s could undercut the work of the thousands of officers on duty every day across the border, especially if they try to enforce the law themselves in carrying out vigilante justice.

This do it yourself vigilantism sounds like a formula for disaster. Much of the desert is no man’s land. Arizona is fortunate that there have not been any incidents. We don’t need enforcement wearing swastikas.

Interesting story. I had to look up National Socialist Movement because I thought it was just a left-wing organization. I was wrong. 🙂

I think typing that into Google just got me placed on ‘the list’.

Interesting story from AZ and Maricopa County. http://www.kpho.com/news/24278446/detail.html

You gotta love that a Sheriff’s posse still exists in our laws.

  2. Captain Idiot-Face

Huffington Post, SPLC……no questioning the pedigree of reporting here! This stuff is just funny now.

    1. Perhaps you might want to check out the other websites that carried the story. Why its even on Faux News.
Glad you got your laugh for the day. I got one too with your comment. Imagine, only getting news you like from a news source you like. Living in a perfect world?

  3. Captain Idiot-Face

When the Federal Government declares war on the American People, it’s going to be interesting, no doubt about it!

  4. Captain Idiot-Face

Most of the other websites were all ultra-left-wing rags. Michelle Price’s original AP story is OK for me.

  5. Captain Idiot-Face

    Faux News……..clever!

  6. Bubberella

Are we to take it then, Capn Idiot, that you are peachy keen with bands of armed Nazi’s roaming the desert to enforce their notion of federal law?

    1. Hi Bubberella, good to see you!!

The fact that people wearing swaztikas are out roaming the desert protecting us gives me pause for thought.

  7. Elena

The guy walks around with a swastiska as he protests CIP. Seriously, even THIS story you can’t agree that a neo-nazi on the border with a gun is unacceptable?

Do you want me to find the video and post it for you? This guy is also a pal of Senator Pearce that introduced the anti immigration law in AZ, the one that FAIR wrote for him.

  8. Elena

BTW Moonhowler, I had this story saved so I could write a post for it today! You beat me to it 🙂

  9. @Elena Great minds gravitate towards to same outrage?

The guy even resents being called a NEO Nazi. He says he is a National Socialist. I guess he means real Nazi vs faux nazi?

What a Bubba. How does he know Pearce?

  10. Censored bybvbl

It seems to me that this guy and his fellow Neo-Nazi LEO-wannabes have the potential to stir up an international s-storm much less get shot or shoot someone.

BTW, I saw a camoflaged (sp?) blue (what was someone thinking?) SUV with a couple anti-Obama stickers and a license tag KX3 driving around jolly old Prince Willy County yesterday. Is the Klan getting comfy here?

  11. marinm

Can someone correct me. I didn’t see in the article that he actually wears a swastika only that he aligns with the ideals of nazi socialism (i thought it was nazi facism but I’m clueless on all things nazi except that we kicked them in the teeth back a few years ago and saved France only to give it back to the French instead of declaring it the 51st State)

So, I think a few comments above may be factually incorrect. Unless I missed something.

  12. It said in the article he does. I don’t know if he does or doesn’t. Does it matter if he says he is part of the National Socialist Movement?

  13. Elena

There is a video, I believe I posted it in an earlier thread.

  14. Elena

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGOPMp0JZPE

Here is the video of JT Reading with a swastika arm band.

  15. marinm

TY. Was curious as it would mismatch with a uniform. While I feel unease with him and the potential message he may give out.. He does have a 1st Amendment right to do give it.

Looks like the guy is operating within the law. Let’s hope it stays that way.

  16. Elena

Let me clarify to be fair, I am not sure if he has the swastika armband on, but he is leading his group of followers who have flags with swastikas and armbands. I don’t think it really makes a difference.

He has EVERY first amendment right, but I sure as hell don’t want him enforcing ANY laws!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. If you google JT Ready you will find all sorts of pictures with him with Neo Nazis, Az Senator Pearce (all arm in arm), and a few with swastikas. He is not being falsely painted with the N word, I do not think.

Censored, where on earth did you see that vehicle? It sounds like the sheet boys have returned.

  18. Excellent video, Elena. Did I just hear Pearce just say he was Sheriff Joe’s deputy?

Kris Kobak is all over Faux News on a regular basis.

If you are holding a huge flag of Hitler, why do you need to haggle over a mere swastika?

I think a better AZ law might involve language that prevents neo nazis from patrolling the public lands in search of illegal immigrants.

I don’t deny their right to demonstrate but I don’t think they have a right to patrol public lands. Render unto Caesar…..

  19. Elena

    Love it M-H!!!!

“I think a better AZ law might involve language that prevents neo nazis from patrolling the public lands in search of illegal immigrants.”

    I totally agree!

  20. Elena

    Censored,
You must be seeing things, the KKK and hate groups no longer exist, people like “us” are just overreacting and being silly.

  21. marinm

Elena, why make legislation against one group?

See that’s where care must be excercised… Because you toss a law out that says people can’t go in public and wave flags around what happens to all the GBLT parades and rallys?

You have to be very, very, very careful when treading around civil rights. And like it or not this guy does have civil rights.

  22. Elena

    Marinm,
Obviously we aren’t being serious. Don’t forget, the ACLU, often with Jewish attorneys as their representatives, have defended the rights of Nazi’s to march. However, allowing people to carry weapons and enforce the law is WHOLLY different or do you disagree?

  23. Elena

Furthmore, you are talking about marching we are talking about weapon carrying.

  24. marinm

Weapon carrying is a FUNDAMENTAL right of the citizenry. It’s as sacred as the 1st Amendment.

  25. Captain Idiot-Face

    Bubberella :
Are we to take it then, Capn Idiot, that you are peachy keen with bands of armed Nazi’s roaming the desert to enforce their notion of federal law?

“Bands of Armed Nazi’s roaming the desert”?? Maybe one too many “Mad Max” movies? Anyway, I don’t recognize your handle, but if you’re new, I’m here to tell you you landed in the right place! Yeah, sure, I’m as peachy keen with this as you are of having armies of bloodthirsty narco-terrorists (you inspire me) roaming around the desert killing indiscriminately. What I support, above all other notions, is the right of Arizona citizenry to defend itself from invasion using whatever means they choose. I don’t care if they’re all wearing ballet tutus and carrying kukris. What these renegade dudes have to realize is that they could easily get killed if they chose to engage. If they accept that possibility…well, SOMEBODY has to defend our nation. All the feds are going to do is get together and try to map out the best path to their own hiney-holes.

  26. Captain Idiot-Face

    Moon-howler :
I don’t deny their right to demonstrate but I don’t think they have a right to patrol public lands. Render unto Caesar…..

Here’s the thing…Ceasar can’t find his butt-hole with two hands, map, and a funnel.

  27. Elena

You know what, I am a gun rights advocate myself, but ASSuming the role of law enforcement as a neo nazi is NOT sound judgement in my mind.

Why are you even arguing this point Marinm? Are you o.k. with neo nazi’s enforcing our laws? Are you ok with neo nazis having influence over public policy in ANY way shape or form?

  28. marinm

That’s not the question Elena. You wanted to put out legislation that would impact everyone’s ability to carry firearms in public. It’s impacting his 1 and 2nd Amendment rights.

I don’t have to like the message but I have to respect the right he has to have his say.

As you noted above.. The ACLU will protect a LGBT rally and it’ll protect a nazi rally. Unpopular speech is what most requires protection.

Let me give you an example of banning a gun for a political motivation.

    http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2010/07/09/judge-gives-sheriff-a-first-amendment-lecture-then-orders-him-to-get-more/

“In denying Paul a concealed weapons permit, Sheriff Weber single-handedly hijacked the First Amendment and nullified its freedoms and protections,” wrote Federal Judge Mark Bennett in the opinion. “Ironically, Sheriff Weber, sworn to uphold the Constitution, in fact retaliated against a citizen of his county who used this important freedom of speech and association precisely in the manner envisioned by the founding members of our nation.”

I’m warning you that you have to tread with caution when dealing with a person’s civil rights. I understand – to a point – what I think you’re trying to say but it only takes a small nudge to crush his and everyone else’s civil rights.

  29. kelly3406

I see an analogy between the Black Panthers at a Philadelphia polling place and this case. On the one hand, we have racists in military gear with a nightstick who appear to be breaking the law by intimidating voters at a polling place. On the other hand, we have racists in military gear with automatic weapons who so far have obeyed the law.

Eric Holder apparently did not think that the Black Panthers’ case was a big deal. It will be interesting to see how he views this case.

  30. Bubberella

Well Cap’n Idiot — how about if there were groups of armed black panthers patrolling the northern border so as to discourage additional whites from crossing from Canada? You got a problem with that?

  31. Bubberella

    Kelly

Intimidated how? By there being black people in paramilitary costume at a polling place? Could I then say that my brown nephews in Arizona are being intimidated from hiking in the desert by the presence of armed nazis partolling?

  32. Captain Idiot-Face

    Bubberella :
Well Cap’n Idiot — how about if there were groups of armed black panthers patrolling the northern border so as to discourage additional whites from crossing from Canada? You got a problem with that?

Ahh, the black panthers! Let’s make a deal! The Black Panthers can walk around armed and try to intimidate people ALL THEY WANT! The only thing I ask in return is immunity from criminal or civil prosecution for anything that might happen to them. Fair deal? My message to al-Shazzam, or whatever his name is: Lock and Load, baby!!

  33. Captain Idiot-Face

Let’s see if anyone remembers Shazam!

  34. I am speechless. I come back and the usual gang now doesn’t seem to care that gangs of neo-nazis are patroling the desert areas of Arizona in search of illegal immigrants.

I rest my case! This is the best reason I can think of not to have laws in effect at the local level that designate federal responsibilities to local areas.

Nazis should have no part in our government at any level. They should not be any part of policy or law enforcement. Has history taught us nothing?

I was the one who suggested that a law be made that kept these clowns from roaming the desert ‘enforcing the law’ or hunting illegal immigrants, not Elena. She agreed with me.

Marin, my father gave up 4 years of his life in the battle against Nazis, as did many others. Some of those people never came back. I will damn will take away the rights of Nazis to hunt people.

  35. Captain Idiot-Face

    Moon-howler :
Nazis should have no part in our government at any level. They should not be any part of policy or law enforcement. Has history taught us nothing?

I must have missed the part where it said Nazis were suddenly in the government….any government. Y’all must be giddy with excitement. You’ve held your “Nazis” in for a good long while, now. Here we’re just letting it all hang out! “I’m a nazi, he’s a nazi, she’s a nazi, you’re a nazi, wouldn’t you like to be a nazi too!” 🙂 A couple of rednecks walking around wearing swastikas, and y’all have the rise of the fourth reich happening in Arizona! Maybe…..just maybe…..this isn’t as huge as y’all think it is.

Nazis have no part in government…I agree….and neither should Socialists, but that’s not working out too good for us, is it?

  36. Captain Idiot-Face

Actually, the more one looks around at this guy, the less it looks like he’s any sort of Nazi. He’s not wearing his swastikas in the video, and the only websites that talk about the Nazi angle site completely unreliable sources such as the SPLC. In fact, several sites talk about how this links Nazis directly to the Republican party. Is it any wonder nobody listens to the left anymore? They’re so incredibly obvious and incorrect about everything these days, that if they ever DID find a Nazi lurking around, nobody would pay attention to them!

  37. No one said one word about the Nazis and the Republican party but you, CIF. You apparently didn’t google the man’s name. Had you done so, you would have seen JT Ready with Neo Nazis and with Sen. Pearce. They are all over the internet. He is loud and proud.

You apparently think its ok for private citizens to go out into the desert and hunt down anyone they perceive as the enemy, even if those citizens align themselves with neo-nazis.

So laugh on. You are actually showing your true colors. And by the way, I researched this story from multiple sites before I posted it. Many different sources from all different political points of view are running with this story. This vigilantism is ok with you. I can’t imagine that it would be with most Americans.

  38. This is the kind of thing laws like original the PWC “resolution” invite. It’s the kind of thing Stewart is inviting into our county. The invite was handed out back in 2007, and Mr. Whacko, donned in fatigues, showed up at a 7-11 and threatened to come back with a gun. Stewart is now handing out more invites to people like Ready and those who act in a similar manner.

Hate groups LOVE this kind of anti-immigrant environment.

I don’t care if groups like HSM say they don’t like socialist groups or the KKK. The KKK and groups like Ready’s latch onto ANY laws and organizations that encourage hatred and discrimination.

Something is inherently wrong with a law that inspires people like Ready. And if we support such laws, we are exchanging the problem of illegal immigration for domestic terrorism.

  39. kelly3406

    @Bubberella

Witnesses reported the Black Panthers brandished the nightstick, blocked doors, hurled racial epithets and stated that they were there to provide security. To me, this behavior falls in the category of voter intimidation.

  40. kelly3406

    @Posting as Pinko

Any effective measure to reduce illegal immigration will APPEAR to be racist, because the culprits are primarily Hispanic. Approximately 90% of all illegal immigrants are Hispanic and 1 out of every 4 Hispanics in America is here illegally (I can provide citations for these statistics).

So even if immigration law is applied in a color-blind fashion, the vast majority of people affected will be Hispanic. If one is constantly looking for racism, then it is fairly easy to interpret any action that adversely affects minorities as bias and racism, regardless of the facts.

  41. @kelly3406
Kelly, here are the people whom I consider promoting racism:

    1. Hate group members
    2. Supporters of hate group members
    3. People who use the immigration issue as a cover for their true animosity and fear of Hispanic culture
    4. Leaders who write laws like the one we had in PWC, the AZ law
    5. People who encourage other people to fear and dislike people for their ethnicity

People who are concerned about illegal immigration are not bigots. People who make stupid remarks about other cultures but are generally nice to everyone are not bigots. People who hate drug cartels, gangs and violent crime are not bigots. People who feel uncomfortable being minorities are not racists. But people who assume every Hispanic person is an “illegal” ARE being racist and in the case of some, violently racist. These people ACT on their racism, as do the groups I mentioned above.

I am curious about that stat. You are saying 25% of all Hispanic people in this country are here illegally? Considering Puerto Rico is a territory of the U.S. and considering the history of immigration, find that difficult to believe.

  42. Captain Idiot-Face

    Moon-howler :
Many different sources from all different political points of view are running with this story.

Well, that will be your little secret!!

  43. Kelly, why do the black panthers keep coming up on this thread. I thought we covered them on about 3 different threads. I agree they are a hate group. I agree that they are racist. SPLC and ADL also agree they are a hate group. Several poll watchers(witnesses) reported them in Philadelphia, as they should have.

No voter said or filed a report, according to what I have read, that they were intimidated because of these jerks. I don’t know what else needed to happen. I think the key is who actually is registered to vote at this polling place might be the key. The panther…schazam or whatever his name is was taken away by the police.

Just looking at the various videos of this person…he appears to be a mentally ill street person, out there babbling hate messages to anyone who will listen. You can go see plenty of that crap right near Lafayette Park. Why would the justice department bring out the calvary for one impaired jerk?

  44. CIF, you can get let in on the same secret if you google the story.

Maybe one of the Toms will come pick it up and then everyone will know.

  45. Captain, is that baby here yet? I wish you could go back to your old moniker.

  46. kelly3406

    @Posting as Pinko

The total number of Hispanics was based on the U.S. census and the number of illegal aliens was from the Pew Hispanic Center. The total number of Hispanics is on the order of 48M of which 12M are estimated to be illegal.

  47. Bear

    @Elena
THIS story you can’t agree that a neo-nazi on the border with a gun is unacceptable?
Elena, a neo-nazi with a gun anywhere is unacceptable!

  48. @Bear, apparently some on the blog don’t think it is unacceptable. How about the Taliban? Al Qada? I thought Nazis were the enemy of the USA? I certainly don’t want them empowered to have any control over anyone within the borders of the United States. Not sure I want them to have any power anywhere in the world for that matter.

  49. Starryflights

That fat tub-o-lard with his gun couldn’t outrun a grandma. He probably got washed out of the Marines.
