[Update:  Carl Paladino Wins G.O.P.  for Governor in New York]

Carl Paladino is running in the Republican primary for governor of New York.  He is currently tied in polls with the other contender, Rick Lazio. Paladino  has sent emails, shown in the video, that contain hard core pornography, racist references to the president, and other topics that are totally offensive, yet he attempts to defend his actions. Some people just shouldn’t be given a computer. This guy is a misogynist, a racist, and an overall obscene jerk.

Normally a New York primary would be of little importance to the rest of the nation.  However, Paladino stretches the limits of public decency.  One of his platforms is to open welfare dorms in prisons and to teach welfare recipients hygiene.

According to CBS News

Republican New York gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino reportedly sent e-mails to numerous associates that included images of bestiality and derogatory characterizations of President Obama, including one offering a video clip of African tribesmen dancing that characterized the video as “Obama Inauguration Rehearsal.”

The e-mails were obtained by WNYMedia.net, and have been posted here. The site’s managing director, Marc Odien, told the Buffalo Newsthat he had verified that Palidino [sic] had sent many of the “racist and sexist” messages with multiple sources.

In a statement to TPM Muckraker,Paladino campaign manager Michael Caputo said the candidate had sent “off-color” and “politically incorrect” e-mails in the past.

“Carl Paladino has forwarded close friends hundreds of email messages he received,” he said. “Many of these emails he received were off color, some were politically incorrect, few represented his own opinion, and almost none of them were worth remembering.”

One interview shows Paladino being interviewed on the way to his car.  He tries that old feeble trick of deflection.  He tries to deflect to the Democrats and what they are doing.  Lame.

25 Thoughts to “Carl Paladino:I’m not a racist because I say I’m not a racist”

  1. Are tea party people going to shun this inappropriate man? Why was he favored over Lazio?

What’s it going to be like in November when all these tea party candidates have the responsibility of doing something, rather than just being blowhards?

How about getting other people to vote with them? I expect there is going to be a reality check. I am glad to see it. I want to see them defend their home court. I have lived long enough to know that the country will recover, regardless of who we elect. So I welcome the newcomers. Bring it on. Work your magic. They either succeed or they too will be hounded out of office.

I like your usual wisdom of allowing a person to define who he is himself, Moon.

  3. I suppose I didn’t live up to my creed on this one. I called Paladino a jerk.

So he runs against a Democrat in New York. Those emails are rough. They will undo him, I suspect.

So is this person a Republican or a tea party person? What does HE say he is?

I have a problem with not being able to distinguish between tea party or Republican.

  4. punchak

Looks like New York went for the jerk – big time. Will run against Cuomo in Nov.

Christine O’Donnell elected senator from Delaware. -(what were they thinking?)

  5. hello

As you have told me many times Moon, what do you care? This is for the governor of NY, it does not affect you in any way. Is it just because he won the Republican primary?

  6. hello

The sources of these organized leaks are worrisome and were clearly a part of a dirty politics campaign effort going into the primary. Sort of reminds me of another too early judgement of a USDA official. Hacking and e-mail traffic is not secure – yet I have not seen the rebuttals either. In any case, with 58 percent of precincts reporting, Paladino had 65 percent of the vote to former Congressman Rick Lazio’s 35 percent. Off color jokes asside, the anger over what Democrats have done to NY is comparable only to the anger in New Jersey – and Mr. Christie is earning the respect of garden staters.

The District voted for old time Democratic politics – again. A real shame and a real tragedy for the children of the District.

  9. Agree totally, TP about Fenty. That is a tragedy and returns DC to …DC.

As for Paladino, I think the real question is, did he send them out? That isn’t in question.

He obviously didn’t tighten his circle of friends tight enough. Someone he sent the email to didn’t appreciate it and he got fried. I have no choice but to think he is just a pig doing that kind of stuff. Women, horses, and witch doctors just sort of do me in. No tolerance here for that sort of thing.

Mr. Christie is going to have a real problem with the dreaded teachers union.

Winning a primary is completely different from winning a general election.

This is, of course, big news, considering the election is not until November. Very impressive!

    @Moon-howler

You may – may – be right on Paladino – I hope not and if not, there is going to be some hot politics going into the election. If you are right – well – he would not be the first creep to make a very good Governor or President. Sort of like supporting an old town porn shop as long as you dress it up and call it a boutique.

  12. marinm

The GOP establishment is short-sighted if they don’t see the TP as a major faction that can sway elections away from establishment candidates. Instead of seeing the TP as a distraction the GOP should look to the TP for guidance on candidates to run and a coordinated strategy.

  13. punchak

    @Slowpoke Rodriguez
Thanks for your gentle rebuke, Slow!
I humbly eat the humble pie you’re offering.

  14. TP, let’s talk about what you consider porn. ARe you really such a prude that you consider all erotica ‘porn?’ Stop calling it a porn shop. If you want to do that, do it somewhere else. I don’t support porn shops. I do support KK temptations as an adult store that sells erotica.

I do consider depictions of women (or men) sodomizing horses pornography. I hope this clarifies my position.

You, however, cannot have a decent discussion about a topic without turning nasty. Why did you feel it necessary to take an unrelated jab at me? Is that YOUR version of politics?
You and your ilk, and yes, I mean ILK in every negative connotation of the word, want to insult and divide, not find common ground.

You certainly didn’t see any defense from me on say, creepy John Edwards. However, if you want to defend Paladino, I think that speaks as much to your character as it does to his.

  15. marin, see the new thread. I think the GOP sees the Tea Party as a faction that can sway elections. That is why some have bailed out and gone tea party. I site John McCain as an example. He nudged much closer.

Now what that says to moderates and others who might have voted from McCain in the past is that he is really a person of few convictions and he now becomes a person we aren’t quite sure about. Contrast him to someone like Liebermann–what you see is what you get. He isn’t all over the board.

The Tea Party might easily be able to throw things off a bit with the GOP. However, O’Donnell saying she has pulled in Reagan Democrats is simply a pipe dream. Anyone in her camp is simply not a democrat. Not even close. In fact, she probably just kept the GOP out of the senate.

Keep a close eye on Karl Rove. I can’t stand him but I do respect him and his political prowess. The man is a king maker and a mountain mover.

  16. PWC Taxpayer

LOL!!! a “prude” and “my Ilk!” I love it.

No, you’re probably right I would not have endorsed a Victoria’s Secret in Old Town either – which some hope to turn into a tourist attraction – let alone the kk description. One of the malls out on Sudley would have been better and yes, I think there is a place for community standards and for a community theme – particularly in Old Town.

Glad to hear you have some limits – but it is a shame that you feel compelled to attack those of my Ilk that do not share your limits. Whips, chains, DVDs, costumes, didos and other equipment are not – to my knowledge – sold in Victoria’s Secret as they are – apparantly – at KK.

Nor have I defended Paladino. I am, however, concerned about the veracity of the attack given the sources available and their timing.

Disgreeing with you Moon is not the equivelent of attacking you. I would ask for the same level of respect.

  17. What’s the theme in Old Town? Bars and Restaurants and rowdy crowds after 9 pm?

As long as I have lived in this area I have never picked up on a theme. Closest thing would be railroads.

Give a little get a little is how the respect thing works. You know what you did.

PWC Taxpayer :The District voted for old time Democratic politics – again. A real shame and a real tragedy for the children of the District.

Is the world coming to an end? I find myself in agreement with PWCTaxpayer, not once, but twice in one day.

It is too bad for the kids of the district. However, Rhee will be married in the near future, and I’m sure had no long term plans of having her new hubby move to DC.

  19. He is the mayor of denver, isn’t he? Rhee’s fiance, not TP.

That’s too bad re DC. If they ever want statehood or representation they are going to have to get better than they are now. Rhee was on the right track.

  21. Bear

    @Moon-howler
If you’re not allowed to call Paladino a jerk, I hope you will allow me to call him one! As for your bloggers who think you shouldn’t be interested in NY Politics, when the Governors of the different states meet to plan state strategies I assume your Va. Governor will be present and will reap the benefits of Paladino’s unique knowledge of how to help your state(if he were to be elected)!

  22. Wolverine

Well, at least Paladino has yet to be caught using a cigar as a sex toy. Hey, I wonder if that couldn’t be an item on sale on Battle Street: a box of expensive cigars with the Presidential Seal on the band? They could throw in a free blowup doll called “Miss Intern” with a pizza facsimile in one hand.

  23. Paladino would make McDonnell blush.

I don’t get the pizza connection.

The governor of the state doesn’t need to be making racist jokes, much less sending out emails containing them to 500 of his closest friends.

You had to really reach back in time for that one, Wolverine. You could have gone after Mark Sanford or Insign or toe tapper. They are much more recent. Oh rats! They aren’t Democrats. Point taken.

  24. Bear

Paladino couldn’t carry Monica’s dress let alone Bill’s cigars! Bill was just lonely this guy is an idiot.

  25. Wolverine

Lewinsky used pizza delivery to the Prez as cover for open access to the Oval Office.

“Toe tapper”? I thought it was “toe sucker.” And while serving as a chief political advisor to a Democratic president at that. Something must have been catching in that administration.

Hah, Bear, I bet Paladino would have been smart enough to get rid of that dress. In any case — and to satisfy Moon’s timeline here — whatever happened to that prominent progressive Democratic guy who reportedly tried to get into the pants of a professional masseuse and then announced he was splitting up with his wife? Shoot, I’m beginning to think this stuff must be a standard part of the old resume these days.

And speaking of our Bear here. Must be fun to live in a state which is going broke and where the Democratic governor and the Democratic-controlled state senate were engaged in a circus and spitting contest to a point where the place was shut down for a timeout. Heck, looks to me like Paladino might just fit into that picture. You gotta love New York.
