3 Thoughts to “President Obama Addresses Bullying”

Bullying is a big problem, always was, and I’m afraid always will be. I suppose there’s some things that can be done by parents to help, but I’m sure there will always be bullies out there, unfortunately. It is not fun at all being bullied, I know that from my youth.

It’s nice there’s now all this attention about bullying in the schools and so on, due to that leading to many (it now seems) events that spiraled out of control into violence. I don’t know that anything major is going to change – there’s an awful lot of it and it’s going to take a huge effort to make it all go away. I just think there’s no way to really prevent all of it in the schools – the kids aren’t supervised all the time, especially as they get older where it is more prevalent. Maybe some good will come out of it, on the other hand all this attention may give some people ideas or embolden them to do it.

Sorry for the dup post – actually the second one has a sentence I added at the end. MH can delete the first one at her leisure. My point was, I can see some of this attention to it maybe even having negative consequences – and my gut feel is in the end the positive/negative may balance out and no real change may occur. Other than, the most important thing may be to keep an eye out for signs that someone is the subject of bullying, so we don’t get another one of these tragic events. I have a feeling that’s the area where the most positive may be done, not so much in prevention, but in recognizing where it is occurring and getting involved with the victim(s). That’s my 2 cents – having been on the bullied side myself in my youth. I will say, back then I didn’t see anyone being bullied decide to come to school armed with guns or whatever to get even. Times have changed, not for the better – unfortunately as in a lot of things in our society.

  3. done. I removed the first to moderation. Let me know if you want it back.
